Prices will drop again. Craft an ascended dagger and slap a cool skin on it. If you’re really “unlucky” you’ll have the Incinerator two weeks later, if not, you at least have the same damage until you’ve saved enough gold.

@Grump.7069:The unlimited salvager is true convenience. I’ve been where you’re at, stacking up on crudes before doing a few hours of WvW, a Fractal run (RNG’d with trash filled maps), champion trains and most of the zerg LS events. Even with 10+ crude kits I used them all pretty fast and the only way to clear the inventory then was to find a vendor for new ones, taking time from whatever I was doing. Trust me, an unlimited salvager paired with a mystic salvage kit for rares is the best equip you can invest in IMO, if you play any of the mentioned game modes.

Character slots I didn’t bother buying until I already had five lv80s.

Agreed, they are basically too cheap to give us the bank slots used for saved LS items free of charge.

Unrelated question: if I use a skin that previously existed separately for the 3 weight classes (such as the Gas Mask), it will be unlocked for all 3 weight classes, correct?

Dual legendaries solution?

I bet none of these special snowflakes has ever played, pretty much any other triple A mmo, where all your months/years of “hard work” playing the game is swept under the rug because a new gear level is added. If you used real money to buy virtual items, lesson learn buddy. Like many others have said, it could be worse. You get to keep a dagger that will still be top tier over the years to come.

Let me start off with this.
I have 3 incinerators. (With 15 other legendaries)
I have 5 female human characters all with t3, and multiple others with cultural armor as I have the Emperor title.
I have purchased multiple of every kind of dye, including abyss, celestial, pyre, regal, etc.
I have 2 mjolnirs.
I have a lot of duplicate gem skins, fractal skins, and black lion skins.

Thanks for supporting the game, so others can play it for free I guess?

I just wish I loved one of the classes. I see some people who are just so passionate about one class – one that fits them well. There just isn’t that for me :P Kinda sad.

I’m the same way and have one of each profession that I all play more or less off, depending on what I like to do atm. If I should sum up how I use them it would be like;

Guardian: Everything
Mesmer: Fractals, WvW, PvP
Warrior: Fractals, Dungeons, PvP
Ranger: World bosses, PvP
Elemental: World bosses
Thief: Champ farm
Necromancer: PvP
Engineer: Pack mule

Refund on Existing Outfits

Geez, talk about kittening crying over nothing.

You won’t lose a thing, there’s only gain from this. You bought 2 sets of armor? Great, now you can equip them on even more toons for free. You have multiple outfits? Same thing, some of them even count as armor now. You can’t mix the outfits? Who cares, it was still only OOC town clothes anyway. I haven’t seen anyone use them except for costume brawl, so QQ’ers about this are probably 0,0001% of the player base. Did one go on merry strolls around the town in those or what?

This isn’t comparable to dyes either, as while they are changed to account bound, the dyes themselves are being nerfed to the ground with insane price markup/gemshop-only and it’s affecting everybody in the game.

Personally, I went with Soldier armor and Traveler runes. 25% movement speed made the Guardian so kitten much more fun to play it’s hard to describe in words other than KIIIIIIIIIIITTTEN. But I WvW more and have other chars to choose from for speedruns.

I don’t see your name anywhere in his text and I also fully understand his reasoning about The Royal Pass vs Airship Pass. They’re nothing alike. I remember getting a 2 week royal pass for free early in the event which I frequently used to quickly sell/mystic forge stuff when bags were full from farming. This was before the salvaging days we have now. But when the Queen’s Jubilee event was over I, like everyone else who’s fond of efficiency, went back to LA as home hub.

Anet never said EVERYTHING would be to Vigil Keep or that Keep would be permanent new hub. They said everything EXCLUSIVE to Lion’s Arch, and oh well banks TP merhcants. All of those got moved. Last time I checked crafting stations are available in 12 other maps. And Laurel vendors in 8 others. Therefore they were not exclusive to LA. Stop being Drama Lama its not the end of the world.

Being oblivious about the inconvenience of not having the Mystic toilet and crafting stations in close vicinity for free, which we did for 1½ year up until yesterday, just shows you’re a casual player who doesn’t know any better.

One of the devs said earlier in the thread that everything would be available in Vigil Keep. So even the Devs were told that everything would be available in vigil keep.

The fact that the laurels and crafting aren’t there is a very transparent attempt to get people to buy the airship pass.

They removed the game’s central player hub, replaced it with a lesser version with missing features and added a gemstore permanent mini-hub with all the features ABOVE THE REMOVED ONE.

Defenders of that move should be happy with fanbois, the alternatives would be a lot more insulting… not that they’d get it though.

Err, so people who solo legit and sell for extra profit are terribad?
wow, your logic.. great going

Of course I meant buyers are the terribad. lol

Not everyone has to use exploits to solo. Plenty do it legit. If you couldn’t have thought of that yourself maybe you belong to the latter group.

Sure, some do it legit.. no way there’s a majority or something though grinding their way through when you know how easy it is not only to exploit but simply port w/e using hax. Players aren’t affraid of using them in WvW in front of an audience, so I doubt they are less frequent inside a dungeon without prying eyes.

Because people can’t get carried through Arah or invited at the last moment by friends/guildies.

IMO, Arah gear had some prestige before sellers. I rarely saw a bad player using it; bad as in not even have a dodge button binded. And maybe you like to carry or invite people at the end, but I don’t think it’s that common unless it’s a DC or something. It also takes x amount of “carried” runs before gear can be purchased, by then the carried might have gained some useful knowledge and improved their skill.

What’s wrong with LFG tool, it’s a great way to form parties that span over all servers for a quick start. I assume you’re talking story mode dungeons, once you’ve competed one there’s no reason to do it again, dungeon guild or not. Just join a group in LFG and get it over with. I’ve done them with randoms on all my characters, doing story mode unlocks expl. mode, and there’s always someone doing it for the first time and I’ve yet to see anyone object to that.

If you mean expl. mode then wait until 80 like everyone else, leveling with heartquests is fast enough and you will want a character with 100% map completion eventually anyway for when doing guild missions etc.

  • Doesn’t play a specific build, and thinks it should be nerfed.

And the third, who just see it as it is.

I’m regularly play all 8 professions and don’t think Dhuumfire is such a big deal some make it out to be. In sPvP, it’s 2 sec/10 sec internal cd and there are several hard counters, not the least Hambows that’s been flooding the game for months. AFAIK, teams who pick necro do it for Signet of Undeath, not some measly burn dot. 80% of the necros I see in hot joins are already MM spec, hardly ever see a hybrid there. The only one who I see can have a problem with Dhuumfire are kitten zerker thieves without cleansers.

In WvW necro is arguably the worst roamer already and in zergs I don’t see players lining up to play one either. But yeah, maybe the change is for the better, but we’re talking Nerf-it-to-the-ground-ANET here, so I have my doubts.

OP because there is really no counter to this trait, No way to stop it from being applied because you can dodge as much as you want but once we crit it will proc.
OP because its Mindless/skilless skill spam to be ‘good’

So? A small damage spike for a conditioner in a game world where direct damage is king and condition removers are mandatory. I’m sure a power necro rather pick Close to Death as GM. Another mindless proc of sorts, 20% more damage out of thin air under 50% HP. Silly arguments IMO. Like OP wrote, it will probably only end up peg hole more into wellmancer or zoomancer – where the skilled players roam.

I haven’t beaten Marionette in any OF, out of 15+, despite tactics being carefully explained every time, lanes are filled with 20 or more players and the dedicated ones move around to help other lanes once the debuff wears off.

Home server (FSP) on the other hand, almost never fail a single lane. Even with the same amount of bearbows, staff users and w/e people like to put the blame on for losing.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong or hard with this event. Kill champs and dodge AoE, that’s it. Overflows seem to be the root of all problems, some people doesn’t even try if they end up in one. Maybe the better players are also more keen on waiting around 30-60 minutes to get a slot on a main server, leaving OF to the “casuals”.

It would fill the dungeon-gap for those below lvl 30, and a good opportunity to teach players about dodge/combo-fields and all that early on, as well as offering a fun and challenging experience during the first hours of play.

These teachers already exist in the world. If not before, the first time someone enter Kessex Hills or equivalent zone, they should quickly learn that AoE rings is a bad thing to be in when they are bombarded with catapult rocks or cannon balls. And not all leveling content is sleepwalking, mobs with torment and confusion can be a real pain if some stacks ain’t evaded. But the starting zone could have more forced-on hints for basic mechanics, new players are kinda thrown into the world to figure stuff out themselves as it is now.

I agree with you. If I had a steady group the learning would be easier. As it stands in Pugs, you get kicked. And I personally don’t learn much, other than I suck. lol

Got what I need for that hammer build, going to test it tonight. Was killing some champs with it and it was working rather well.

Stop beating yourself up. There’s good pugs and there’s a whole lot more bad pugs. A kitten load of people play selfish builds and have defensive or worse gear even at fractal 49. Bringing a zerk guardian in such a group is a nightmare since you don’t have the sustain to stand upright longer than the buffs you provide. Which isn’t long enough in those non-DPS pugs. Then they start pointing their ignorant fingers at you, the “tank”, as you’ve already experienced.

And sword in Fractals, ugh, just horrible. Unless you have a real zerk party, you’re better of using scepter/focus on a majority of Fractal bosses with a switch to melee when the opportunity arises. GS/hammer and staff (pull and #5) for trash.

If ANET continues to release LS content that alienates most of its players, I think they need to change how it’s implemented in their own interest not to kitten off the whole community, bads as well as those affected by them. Almost every LS coming out is nothing more than a AP checklist, this one took it to another dull level with its 2h waiting, mindless repetition and failing. Where’s the fun factor, this is a game right?

In MMOs with hard raid content you have a static group of players doing tries until you succeed and the beaten encounter is put on farm. Here you are thrown with randoms every time, in EU OF with different languages, and expect them to cooperate toward a goal that a RNG percent every time inevitably don’t give a kitten about.

Make the Boss spawn on its own zone/instance if it requires the whole map doing it. Put in some instanced pre-quest that has to be done solo and learn the player about the main encounter. If he/she isn’t able to finish on his/her own, no access allowed! If the devs intentions with increased boss difficulty is to improve the skills of the playerbase, personal punishment is the fastest way to make it happen.

Yep, elitism at its worst, but if someone isn’t interested in learning how to gear and trait their character, how to dodge etc., this content isn’t for them. Either that, or make the LS content more forgiving for those players and leave the “hard” content to other things like Teq and the Wurm.

Can you blame them? Every Champion inside has one freaking mechanic to adapt for, plus the evades from Marionettes floor attacks. Any normal player should know what to do within seconds after seeing it for the first time. Really, ANet thought of everything in this event to make it easy to understand if you’re willing to try, even the colorblind must be happy for once with the improved AoE markers.

>-Blame is given to each other when its joint coordination.

It isn’t though and that’s why everyone’s patience is wearing thin. Forget the trash mobs, those are not what the Marionette event is about. In the second phase it’s down to 3-6 players in each circle to burn down the champion and the power generator within the time limit. The problem now is that half of everyone showing up think like you do and don’t do their part. They stand around doing nothing or are content with auto-attacks, can’t dodge anything and require several resses. On the 2nd champion with the mines, they still don’t get after days of trying, that they have to kite the mob in a circle so it get stunned on its own mines and vunerable to attacks. And that’s why it fails over and over. Start to take personal responsibility and stop wasting peoples precious time. Read a guide please, thanks.

With individual success everyone would just stack one lane when AP is done in a couple of days. The Marienette fight should’ve been more about the actual boss and less about the lanes.

Also, with the Wurm I’ve already noticed how people are zerging Amber over the other two paths because it only involves killing mobs.

in The Origins of Madness

Gambit.8425

This. Remember the Portal Events when they happened every hour, people wouldn’t complete them, merely farm the champs. This is their fix for that. And considering these events don’t last as long, I think it’s perfectly.

It goes both ways. Remember the Toxic Offshoots everyone stopped doing once the achievements where done? If it isn’t worth the time put in, people will do something else. At least with the Scarlet invasion, you could be a week late and still finish the AP meta.

The Wurm may be permanent but nobody’s gonna bother with it when it takes 20-30 competent players going each direction in the same overflow. Alt. roll thumbs for 2 hours on a successful server like it is with Teq now for some rares and greens.

The events are badly planned is all when every boss fight has to have a zerg of loot-free mobs surrounding it. I remember all the epic boss fights in that other MMO that had zero adds.

So you are either waiting for the devs to enact some positive changes and are being cynical about those prospects to show tough love or are just trying to cut them down because you are hoping the sting of your words will keep the staffers home thus causing Tyria to burn while unattended? Or is there a third perspective that I can’t see because I’m not quite jaded enough yet?

My comment wasn’t aimed at your previous post. But now that I’ve read it, have you missed the balance patches every month, a major one just a month ago? Now the hammer has come to zerker, because the 1½ year content we since long can do in our sleep is too easy with zerk-groups. The nerf to loot and gold rewards wasn’t enough, let’s slow it down too!

You sound like it’s a 1-man team working on this, maybe it is, what do I know. 1½ year juggling the numbers to the same old content is a long time. In this chapter, PvE nerf, tweaking runes and sigils and w/e they do to the skills, some up, some down. We might see a nerf to Traveler runes, the only thing that stand out as too good at the moment, basically replacing a skill slot if you aren’t min/maxing. Probably they won’t though, instead a 5% somewhere become 4% or 6%. Don’t wanna rock the boat to much, do they, while giving an illusion of moving forward.

How about adding some new real core-skills apart from the worthless heals nobody bothers with, to add more dimensions to the game play? All the zerk-QQ’s lately seem to be because there isn’t a trinity system in play in GW2. People want to tank and heal despite very clear indications that this wan’t intended or needed in this game. A 5 y/o could figure out that DPS would be king in that scenario. What is the ANet solution to the whine? Nerf DPS of course, anything else is too much work.

I play a lot every day, 3-10 world bosses, dungeons, fractals, WvW and my average 150% MF feels like -50% pre-luck, mostly since so much loot is capped to boxes and chests nowadays, that always give the same kittenty kitten.

Body collision wouldn’t work for obvious reasons, just take the JP’s devs like to throw in every LS. One ill-placed toon could lock out the progress for the entire server for hours.

There’s three simple things that would make WvW better; counters to prevent night capping and tighter matchups to even the zergs out. Finally there’s the issue with all the fair weather players screwing balance. Who only care about WvW if their server get an early head start, because the rewards are so lackluster compared to say a FSG champ-train if they aren’t steamrolling the opponents.

Instead of nerfing zerker like every jealous, lazy PVT QQ’er in here suggest, maybe ANet should focus on fixing all the dungeon exploits. Every instance now has single guys selling last boss slots, and they didn’t get there just by standing on rocks either.

Zerker Meta Gone? Great!

Anet tried to change it up with TA Aetherpath, they’re even kind enough to hand out, RNG but still, unique weapons that currently go for ~150G on TP. Go ahead, start a group for it, see how long it takes and if you get to finish it in reasonable time.

The stuff you want might be fun the first times, but what about the tenth? On the other hand there’s a lot of players that have ran CoF p1 hundreds of times. Strange huh?

[PvE] Revising the "DPS Meta"

Only problem here is the condition branch of the dps.

As far as my opinion of “Berserker” itself goes, I think this is to do with how encounters play out – especially when most dungeons consist of simply stacking and melee whacking the boss to death in 10 seconds. Give Bosses more powerful PBAoE attacks that punish that mindless behaviour. Raise auto attack rates. Bring back mobs that dodge and kite, I say!

As far as Condition Damage goes, I agree entirely. I believe its implementation is inherently flawed. I made a post about it here but I am not trying to “hijack” this post! just don’t want to copy it all again. I think if we address the fact that Condition Damage is so lacking in a manner similar to this suggestion, then we can partially address the “Zerker meta” without having to nerf Berserker stats or gear, by making other builds more viable.

But I think Zerker playstyle itself should be addressed; Zerker is King – Zerker is “high risk=high reward”. However there is very little risk now.

How many bosses done by PUGs do you see burned down in 10 seconds, apart from the Slave driver champion maybe? And melee whacking in zerk gear will down you if you aren’t paying attention w/e you claim, feel free to try it sometime. There’s always 1-2 or more slackers, and I feel the instances are already balanced around that timewise. No need to punish people who run organized speed-groups because they’re good at dodging stuff in combat, one of the few primal sell-points to this game still in play.

Rewamping to harder content, IE more PBAoE, what will happen to all those PUGers that are already having a hard time in their PVT gear? Kick and replace? Not very casual-friendly. And won’t that just make ranged classes OP instead if the boss is covered in circles all the time? Also, old content is boring content. Who in their right mind doesn’t do it as fast as possible after a few runs.

I agree with the conditions, they shouldn’t have a shared cap. And I already feel a well-played conditioner can be a great asset to a team, shame that they’re so freaking rare though. And the no-dot damage to objects is another thing that should have been fixed long ago.

I think all the recent zerk-complaints come from the annoyance originating in the, often, different gearsets needed for PvE vs PvP. Specially now with expensive Ascended armors, people want to craft a PVT, spec for WvW, and still be as powerful as a zerker in PvE. Maybe, I hope, Anet are changing Ascended armor gear stats to be changed OOC like legendaries, it would kill a lot of the QQ and save the headaches of deciding what aspect of the game to waste that much gold on for a minor update.
