As for the stuff that isn’t out yet. I’m not that worried about it. I do think if all 12 legendaries came out at once though, the issues with the price of mats would have been a whole lot worse.

The kind of failed thinking that’s gotten Anet into the mess they’re in. You don’t hear how silly it sounds that they can’t release more than 3 new grind collectables at a time because of lack of in-game currencies? Like it’s an own entity that Anet has no control over xD

I wonder what miracle workers they had to put out the original 20 legendaries at once. But you’re probably right, that’s their kittened reasoning. Same as why we have almost no new armor- and weaponskins and no free gliders as to not disrupt the gem store.

It’s not just the opinion of a few here, Anet didn’t even earn 1/3 of what they expected from the ex-pack because – take a wild guess…

Shared Inventory Slot Feedback [merged]

Gambit.8425

A bit of an OSD thing and maybe it’s been said already, but could you please put the shared inventory slots above and seperated from the normal bag slots even in “Hide bags” mode? Perhaps as another option in the bag menu? It’s awkward when loot aren’t stacking from the left edge of the bag window to right in the Fractal bags (that sort by item quality) because slots are uneven numbers now.

Well, that hasn’t changed. I don’t know why some players who don’t even understand the basics got so high ranking pre-change. Maybe it was all about MMR before, so they flew past the divisions cause they had none to speak off. My experience is the complete opposite to you and your buddy, I had a lot of fun games today, soloq as always, with and against good players who knew what they were doing and no complete blowouts in results as you can see below.

The change is awesome. To me it seem less about MMR, carrying, cheating and more about actual tiers and skill. I was stuck in Ruby T2 for 2 weeks supposed to carry total beginners almost every game I played, today I rushed to Diamond in one evening with ease.

Maybe it’s worse in the US, but EU has shuffled the baddies evenly to both teams giving the better players a chance to win, unlike how it was before with pre-determined defeats. @OP: Maybe the problem is youself, ever thought of that?

Winterday 2015 is excellent!

Gambit.8425

I felt the need to express my thanks for making the best Winterdays event this far.

Why:

  • No inventory clutter.
  • No time gating.
  • Less grinding.
  • New titles.
  • Better rewards.
  • New, useful food
  • Good Karma dump for Asc. crafting.
  • The karma for presents, presents for karma feels fresh to do and very suitable for the season.

We’re two days into the event and I’ve had about 1000 drinks from casual playing, so I don’t get all the whine about the shoulder piece. Drinks can even be bought on TP if someone want it now, or a solid income if not, and we don’t even need that achievement for Meta to be completed. So a very nice, relaxing event this year compared to previous years, which I appreciate immensely. Thanks for a job well done!

What a embarrassing joke they are. Release an expansion and then remove spell graphics that are a month old in an ill attempt to reduce clutter. Who even think that kitten up.

Playing some PvP myself, hardly know what the hell is going on now when they destroyed ground spell visuals that was there 2 weeks ago and other stuff that has nothing to do with splash visuals that is what people complained about.

Just another time gate at this point. Anet have so little confidence in their product they have to add these things to keep players around, map complete “bugged” on old character for a month is another example. But sometimes it fails miserably like with TD and people move on to something else waiting on a “bugfix” cause new currencies like Crystalline Ore take a long time of casual play to gather enough of anyway.

This. Because the game have a gemstore we’re always going to feel its effect to some degree, so buy with grinded money to inflated prices or use a credit card. Your choice, play how you want!

Luckily, all of those things are purely optional to downright horrible and a nuisance (Queen bee) and has never caught my interest (Legs isn’t in this category).

Patch Today: Key Farming Impacted

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gambit.8425

Gambit.8425

This nerf is most likely because of F2P, and in lesser extent the free HOT character slot. Before, players were forced to have one vacant slot and with F2P accounts anyone can do it if they want which the metrics probably showed.

If the last Modrem event is any indication how ANet values Gems vs. played time the keys were too profitable even by going the slow way through hearting to level 10. Really a shame though since keyfarming was the only way to exchange the Tomes of knowledge to something useful and now they are just another worthless “currency” ANet for some reason like to stack on us as rewards.

It will be interesting to see what this does to BLTC skins that are already a rare sight to see. Doubt the sells for keys will change much since the previous keyfarmers now feel cheated on something that’s been in the game for 3 years and also all too well knows the odds of getting something worthwhile from the chests.

Good for you. I wrote most players based on my own server of course and how this forum looked like during that event, not much different from now actually. I wasn’t even one of them myself. I played for the duration of ToN cause it was a decent event and to farm goodies from the vendor, which I later made a fortune from selling on the TP

But like I wrote, that’s 2 years ago and instead of some kind of progress we now have a minimalistic version of the enemy circles we’ve seen at almost every event since release.

I can understand where ANet is coming from with the lack of normal loot, they are looking to avoid what happen with the clockwork invasion where many players said stuff the event, lets just spawn and fight champs.

Tower of Nightmares event was a tuned (nerfed) version of clockwork invasion, almost no loot from mobs except the currency used then – Pristine Toxic Spore Sample – that was both dropped from mobs and gathered from plants. It was deemed no fun because of it and most players stopped doing it when they got the achievements after a few days.

That kitten happened 2 years ago and ANet have learned nothing from that experience and are instead continuing evolving their game in a neverending repulsive direction.

What we have now with the Mordrems are 10 times worse. Not only the most simplified events I can think of seeing in this game, then there’s the 30 min play/30 min waiting going on, with abysmal rewards (or none so far). They also encourage the event jumping introduced on the new maps as the most efficient way to gain the currency.

Just LOL at the fools putting these events together.

Insignia needed for ascended berserker stats?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gambit.8425

Gambit.8425

If you’re gonna start crafting ascended gear, you should know that it’s better to have the weapons first because they are cheaper to make and the boost is higher from having both the flat +5% damage increase and stats vs just added stats on the armor.

But if you want to be prepared in time for HoT; fractals and what not, I suggest you also level at least one armor discipline to 450 and start making Bolt of Damask. Because, unless you have a lot of gold to simply buy off the TP, you have to consider that the main materials for ascended gear are stuffed behind a daily time-gate. You can use guides at http://gw2crafts.net/ that are easy to follow and not that expensive.

Nah, It’s just GW2 RNG which I will agree doesn’t feel much like real RNG at all. I’ve had a Dawn once (not since the patch) from a MF daily with 3 cheap exotics and a mystic stone. Didn’t feel lucky at all, just weird to get it that way.

New to the game but feels unfinished

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gambit.8425

My take at your questions:

1. The lack of ascended jewelry crafting is due to them being a vital reward part of other content. Rings drop in – and can be bought with Fractal currency. Earrings are bought with Guild Mission currency and finally necklaces are bought with the daily login reward currency.

2. Maybe not optimal dps in all cases but great sword is a common weapon for four classes, probably why they wanted two with different colors for variation cause that’s all that seperate them. The third one is just an expensive gold sink combining the previous two.

3. Two years ago and beyond the responsible dev communicator had a lot of ideas they wanted to bring to dungeons. None of that happened and since then he’s been fired and nowadays ANET doesn’t even have a dev-team for dungeons.

4. This game has a weak economy with few things to use gold for apart from a few set of materials that serve as crafting components for everything. Of course there is also the longterm goals with precursors and legendaries. ANET simply need the gold drain from TP taxes to slow down player progress a little.

5. Another thing gone bad to have an ultra casual and non-instanced game. One probability around it is to be in the party with someone in the right map and keep trying to join them using that party menu command.

I don’t think a new Lion’s Arch if you call that PvE is any better than EoTM is for WvW. If you don’t remember, EotM was introduced for all the pathetics that transfer to be the largest zerg and end up with hours of queue time. So made specifically for hardcore WvWers is it not. When they finally get into the server they’ll just do the same thing anyway; spend hours bashing doors and farm NPCs.
PvE is just as dead as everything else. Underwater dead. Dungeons dead. Fractals dead. Guild Missions dead. Etc etc. etc.
The only thing getting any attention is zonewide farms we see in the new maps. And in the eyes of a metrics counter over at Anet, is what WvWers do all day that much different to what’s going on in SW? Maybe that’s what his comment is based on.

And don’t get me started on the GvG guilds that ruin borders much worse than this Golem event does.

Well there definitely should be better rewards for harder content. Greater the effort should give a greater reward. Doesn’t have to be much, something like exclusive skins and new titles. So I would expect a hard mode version of bosses to give something.

You were the most vocal here for the bugged, pug-unfriendly Teq, and now you want better rewards for doing a hardmode version if they ever implement that? What happened to having something fun to do in an organized setting? Which also boiled down to having more zerkers/reflects and standing at a certain spot. Easiest attainable farm-status ever, just exclude the casuals from the map. Sorry, but those are the bread and butter of this game and the master is well aware of it.

Don’t think they care tbh, sounds more like gloating while it last than anything else. If they really think there’s a challenge in lvl 80 zones today, it’s a personal problem with gear, traiting or active defense they might want to work on themselves.

The game has always been easy even against mobs several levels above while leveling. But being weaker than that after investing a lot of time to gear up you character is just tragic and bad business if it should’ve been intended.

What are you arguing about, whether or not being able to down Teq with an organized team? LOL. I was in a pug map today where two players tagged up at the last minute so casuals knew where to stand and got the infamous 0.01% failure.

The problem is 1. when not enough of the casuals are geared for the encounter and 2. Teq is still the same sorry kitten , vapid pinata it’s ever been. The last overhaul already added the proper tactics for a boss we all know since long because the content is old as kitten.

I liked the old uncrittable world bosses better, so there was one less factor in play on pug maps. They could’ve added the hp sponge version for the guild event version for those that delude themselves there’s prestige doing it that way.

So zerker (I’ve always been) is a requirement at bosses now? Or exploits? Considering how fast the trash died dps were way above an average pre-buffed run.

Apart from some QoL updates, the whole game is in the same state at best than it was at launch 3 freaking years ago, epic failure IMO. All the old temp LS content is gone so it look even worse. Are you happy with the gear system in PvE?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gambit.8425

Gambit.8425

Failed observations from OP and trainwreck derail from there on.

The only complaints I’ve seen to take serious has been with the new trait system deleting the stats linked to the trees. And those are probably NOT the full zerkers (who already can rely on active defense), but players who mix and matched around those fixed stats. For casuals in exotics it doesn’t matter, while others maybe have all 8 classes in ascended mixed gear and feel the need to replace half of it if nothing else changes.

And what is PvE in HoT anyway? For all I know it’s 100% LS-like mass zerg events where DPS still is the main ingredient for success. Condition get buffed which is great, but the zerkers will carry the rest as always. Support is never gonna be a thing in this game.

The downed state - Hurting the game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Downed state is one of the reason Anet abandoned dungeon, and the main issue is that downed state made the content easy, because of downed state encourage dps and discourage healing and tanking build. It is very difficult for Anet to design hard content for all dps without forcing people to go holy trinity, this is why Anet prefer design open world content instead of dungeon because the only difficult mechanic they can think of is massive zerg coordination instead of individual player experence and skill level.

This was news to me Do you have any actual proof of your theory, because to my knowledge ANET just prefer zergier kind of content like Dry Top, The Silverwastes and all of WoT from what we’ve seen. “The whole zone working together for the greater good yada BS”.

You mean the whole development process of living world is not enough proof?

Proof of downed state in dungeons being one of the reasons ANET abandoned them? Nope, had nothing to do with that.

During the presentation of WoT they talked about how GW2 have the friendliest MMO community because whereever you are downed it’s a strong possibility that a random stranger comes to the rescue. So the rally mechanic is something they take pride in having.

1. Downed state is one of the key elements and selling points of this game.
2. Dungeons is, sadly, in the same category as underwater combat. Something ANET has left to rot in a ditch and moving away from. A single new, underwhelming path in 2½ years, replacing a deleted one and nothing buzzed about dungeons in WoT.
3. Since there’s no surprise elements in the dungeon scripts, once you’ve ran the instances a couple a times you know when to dodge or use damage reducing spells and won’t be downed under normal circumstances even if using no armor at all. Check Youtube for examples.
4. Considering how weak the economy is in this game, it’s a good thing having players who want to perform well to use different stat-sets for PvE and WvW. (PvP is already a freebie gearwise).
6. Quit being lazy and hop on the zerk train like everyone else. If the gold for time invested were less than now, all those zerkers you hate so much would probably stop running dungeons alltogether for something else more lucrative and you wouldn’t be able to piggy-ride them anyway.

Is crafting broken?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gambit.8425

Gambit.8425

Short answer: yes.

Even lower tier materials are used to craft the “end-game” gear like ascended and legenderies which drives up the cost to craft anything across the spectrum.

When you need new gear buy it of TP, except maybe if you’re a light armor user. Leather and Metal armor is usually at vendor price so selling it later is without a loss. Because of the higher prices on cloth scraps salvaged from it, the cost will mirror that and might be to expensive for a new player. But when you outgrow the gear and salvage the light armor the gold return is around the same as the expense. Above is for green masterwork gear, blue gear can be used and resold on tp if you’re ok with a bit lesser stats.

Another option is to buy karma gear from the quest heart givers. Karma is a pretty useless currency that you will accumulate in excessive amount over time from doing events, so there’s no need to save it for later. Just try to be in the level range of the zone so the karma gear isn’t already outdated for your level.

When you’re 80 and ready to craft exotics and ascended gear, you can follow a quick leveling guide to save gold costs, like from http://www.gw2crafts.net/
