I actually faced this same issue with my first human character. She has the loveliest gingerbread cookie dough tone skin and somewhat canthan features, but because I chose her background Ascalonian, the sister was a blonde.
I had to adjust my backround story a little and they are half-sisters now. While the family comes from Ascalon originally and still thinks of itself as Ascalonian, a couple of generations back new blood was introduced. Thus more varitey in the appearance of the family members.
Now humans from all over Tyria live in Divinity’s Reach, but only the Krytans lived there a long time. The others have migrated in later and brought the looks common in their parts of the World into the mix. That is why the background of your character determines the way your sister looks.
I believe all the girls have fair skin, but their hair color changes according to where you say your character comes from when Logan asks it.
I am going to watch the stream tomorrow first. Then decide what makes most sense.
It would not surprise me if there was a sale at the same time as the Tournament of Legends. May 20-something…
The 28 day cycle advances one day every time you log in and accept the reward.
Someone helped me do this instance, we failed to get me one of the achievements. So, I decided to go in again. Lo and behold, going in with another person fixed the instance for me. If you have the same problem, try that!
Hi!
Read the sticky post on top of this forum. They have a lot of information that can help.
Learn the /wiki command. If you wonder, for example, where to get eggs, you can type /wiki egg in game and it will open a page on your browser.
Most people are friendly and helpful, so don’t be afraid to say ‘Hello, I am new.’ in mapchat.
Goodness gracious! It is not late in the game. The game is just starting! It is not even 3 years yet.
If you only like PvP you can do just that after 15 minutes of tutorial. Ask someone to show you to the gate to the PvP lobby in case you have forgotten. You may have the crossed swords working too, if you still have your characters.
The game may be boring to Bishop. I suspect he has played a lot. For someone who has not played hundreds or thousands of hours, the rest of the game is only boring if they don’t like PvE in general.
The one bit of advice I would give here is to ignore the NPE stuff. It does go away fairly soon.
I have not seen anyone post about this, excuse me if I missed it somehow.
I cannot do the ‘Hidden Arcana’ achievements from ‘Echoes of the Past’ because the dialogue that leads to the hourglass does not appear. Ogden only discusses the Elder Dragons with me.
Is this a common occurrence?
I do like many of the stars, but for variety’s sake I’ll list some other favourites.
1. Charr: Imperator Smodur the Unfliching. I find it impressive that he came to the vault in that LS episode personally and I loved his attitude to things there.
2. Asura: Little Rubi. Her golem building is a gem. Find her in Metrica sometime.
3. Human: Countess Anise. She also seems to have a dry sense of humour.
4. Sylvari: Malyck. My beta character was quite taken with him. I am so afraid for him now with all these awful news from Maguuma.
5. Norn: Forgal. He has lost so much and endured even though he felt there was little purpose left for him. He found a purpose in the PC and then…
well selling dungeons is what kills the game at 80 for many ppl, lvl up, gear up in zerk exo, and do dailys / quit, because there are no explo other than sellers.
Yes there are. They just fill very fast. People who think there aren’t regular exploreable parties need to try putting up their own add.
OP: How annoying that people do such a thing. I guess the only safeguard for that would be to have two people you trust with you and only sell two. I shudder to think what that would mean for the prices.
I’d like to add one more tip for Mystic Clovers/Obsidian Shards that is fairly casual.
Do the PvP dailies. (If you don’t want to actually PvP there are servers dedicated for dailies.) It rarely takes more than 20 minutes to do all four.
At least the Glorious Reward track gives you both. You will also end up with exotic armor with selectable stats. If you don’t have any use for that, it can be salvaged. You also get crafting materials including some t6 mats.
For a list of what each track gives, go here:

Very cool of this person! Cheer!
What is even cooler is that Vex is not alone. Many people do such things. We have lots of very nice players! Cheers to all!

*Disclaimer: The frog in the picture above is not really riding the beetle. They just share a health pool.
One tip: First create a generic character. Take whatever is offered to you and pick a name. Once you have created that character, you can delete it and recreate one that you want to keep using the same name. The name is yours for 24 hours.
…
Wow, just wow. I am going to let it go for the most part, but I need to point out one thing.
If you play solo PvE a necromancer is a lot of fun and it is completely viable. The necro does not annihilate the enemy as fast as the zerker staff Ele, for example. But all the open content can be done perfectly fine with any class and necros are fun.
When was this and what happened? This is the first time I hear about it not working.
Titles are account thing, so they will stay there. So will your wardrobe and dyes.
Only things that disappear is the stuff on your characters.
Your things in the bank will stay. But remove soulbound ones first.
“Once you have unlocked all the hairstyles for all your characters”.
How many hairstyles would that be even for someone with just 5 characters? I am at work and cannot check, but it is a lot. And more are coming. Permanent includes all present and all future styles. Why not just be happy with that and let others have a little bit too.
Townclothes were removed from the game already, but when we did have them, I did wish there was a townhair too.
Actually I would really love this. As a roleplayer, I would like to have different hairstyle for town and combat.
And unlocking one hairstyle to use again for one character is not at all the same as being able to use any hairstyle on any character at a whim. Permanent contract would still be very valuable.
I’d pay not to have to see such horrors.
We cannot mail ourselves. Put them in the bank and collect with the alt.
I chose this game because there is no subscription. I play it because I enjoy it. I’d have to quit if there was a subscription.
There is a concentration of savvy people on the Account and Technical Support forum. Just above these. I am a clutch on smartphones so I cannot even link it.
If it is an actual crash I have no clue. But it could also be that there are just too many people trying to install at the same time.
The only consoling thing I can say is that the % you see is of the remaining files, so at least some progress is happening.
Hello! Congratulations!
1. You get the bonus items when you create your first character. Some of them are only once per account, so find a bank and put them there in case you decide to delete your first guy. (Banks are in the capital cities, very near the starter areas. Someone will show you where in game if you ask.)
2. You get a choice of armor skin. Pick the one that either fits the character you want to play now or the one that you think looks nicest for a later character. Krytan is medium, Profane is light and Primeval is heavy. And put it in the bank if you don’t use it immediately.
3. The other stuff you can keep in the bank at first. Use the boosters if you want, you will get more later. They can speed things up a little, but aren’t really necessary.
4. Read the sticky on top of this forum.

5. (Totally voluntary) Whisper me in game if either of me is on. Contact info in the signature.
Looking for people wanting to do the PvP dailies without hassle. I am personally available most days around this time. ( 4 p.m. UTC – 7 p.m. UTC)
Arena exists 24/7, so once you know where to go you can just grab a couple of friends and have a go. If you want to contact me on the forum, use Garambola. In game either is fine, but if one is online pick that one for a faster response.
I really cannot advice on soloing dungeons and which caster would be best for that. General PvE they all can do just fine.
It really comes down to what you find most fun. Take then for a test run.
The way to know if you are in the area is to watch the right side of your screen. If the Heart Symbol and the bar are there you are in the right place.
Guilds are global. Your influence, your upgrades and your bank with all the stuff in it exists on every server on both regions.
sigh…
Humans have four ethnic backgrounds. Have you missed that somehow? We just see very few of the Elonian or Canthan right now, because their home continents are not in game (yet). Ascalonians are the equivalent of Northern Europeans while Krytans are more Mediterranean.
It is interesting to hear that the Norn represent the ideal of some people in how they look. Usually one hears just how terribly ugly they are.
Hi there!
I am Ormgeirr Dal, a necromancer lately from Hoelbrak. I believe in the Spirits of the Wild and why should I not, for I have met some of them personally. I can assume the form of a Raven, Bear or Snowleopard. I drink too little to earn respect of my people that way, so I must work harder to make a name for myself with deeds that get told.
My name loosely translates to Serpentspear and it has always been taught to me that I am a weapon against Jormag. I am not insane enough to think I could vanguish such a creature alone, but thankfully I have met many valiant heroes of all five races during my travels. This includes humans of several ethnic backgrounds: Krytan, Ascalonian, Elonian and Canthan.
I have never, however, met these races you speak about. Where on Tyria do they live?

Id be all for it. Once youre more than like, 16 years old, you realize that $15 a month for something you can easily play for 20+ hours a week is nothing compared to other things you can spend your money on.
But since like, half the playerbase is 16 (or acts like they are), it wouldnt work, so i dont think it will ever happen.
Or when you are 47, single parent with a teenager in the family and you must to pay every bill an extra 15€ a month is a pain. An extra 30€ would be really tough and the extra 60€ that out four accounts would require impossible.
Please, try to have mercy on us who do not make the kind of money you do. It is not like it hurts you that there is not a monthly bill to pay for this one outlet we get.
Not one of these again… Just stop trying to ruin things, please.
It continues from where it was.
I am going to bring back my very first character from the Beta. I’ve missed her.
Actually it is a reward for logging in yesterday, you get paid afterwards.
I remember when the system was introduced. We who had done the daily that day had to wait for the next day.
The login reward is not for logging on today, it is for having existed (whether logged in or not) yesterday.
EDIT: Or rather the reward is for the previous login, but you can only collect it when you log in again.

Favorite UNLOCKED title:
Sunbringer. It is already nice just as a word, but when you have played the Hylek storyline, it means even more.
If you could choose to wear ANY title what would it be?
I am afraid I don’t really use titles.
Title I respect:
Legendary Champion. Because it is something I could never be.
Title I dislike:
GWAMM. I run from these guys. They are scary to a mere mortal.
My plan is to get the Identity kit and change my current character first. Then recreate with the same name and looks a Revenant. I might use another hair though…
Then hit the stack of tomes.
I have ‘only’ a stack of them. I actually hope they cannot be used for mastery points. That would be very blah. (I know I am weak and lazy.)
This makes me sad too. But as many have already said there are other kinds of runs anf the best way to get one is to start it oneself. Today I met 8 nice people doing CoF story and P1. It could have been 9, but one person was on both runs. Two of them even wanted to hang around after. Hi guys and thanks! Pizza was good.
Oh. You want to play in the same world with your friend? If you cannot reach your friend outside the game to ask, then create a temp character and play for a while. When you can find his character in game and he tells you what world he is on, you can delete the temp character and move for free. Anything in your bank stays. )
You can type the character name in the Contact List search bar.
That rather depends on what you want to do. They have them listed by purpose.
Even if it did affect the items, what item has a vendor price that high?
All I want to do is increase the risk so that playing a zerker becomes less viable on the whole (assuming that everyone isn’t amazing at the game).
I agree with this. I’d love to have more diversity accepted by the playerbase. But I do not want to lose downed state.
