Hi! I have two full accounts, including HoT, and one f2p account.

It is quite possible to play the core game for free. But a paid account does have a great deal of advantages. F2P has only 2 characters and those two only have three bag slots each. Try running Silverwastes with under 40 storage slots, it is ‘interesting’.

Only being able to whisper to people on the same map (and no mapchat), unless they are are on your friend list and you are on theirs. Never being able to send anything to anyone over the mail or access Guild Bank….

Personally, I am enjoying the challenge of the restrictions for now, but it will get really frustrating at the point one wants Ascended stuff. Laurels only come from Achievement Point Chests, which makes amulets and trinkets pretty much impossible. Also, among the things one cannot sell or buy at the TP are runes, sigils and recipies.

The point is, don’t envy the F2P people. It really is just a way to test if one really likes this game. If one does, buying the expansion is a good deal.

Why are you people digging up two year old posts? Seriously, they are not relevant, since the whole progression system has changed since then.

When the expansion is live we get points towerds masteries from all events. The ones that take place in the areas that came before HoT advance the Pack Tyria tracks and the ones in the new areas the ones for the jungle.

Early personal story is the lvl 10 key. You will get the other keys of that story.

You cannot start a new character and get another key from lvl 10 story until after its weekly reset.

I am expecting the traditional GW 2 Halloween with the Mad King and the Bloody Prince as well as the traditional activities.

That depends on the seller and whether it is a pre-purchase or pre-order. If it is pre-purchase the seller will send it as soon as they can, if pre-order they must wait so that it does not get to you before the game launches.

If you do buy a ‘physical copy’ it is just a box with a code on a card.

And you will be able to salve them for Dark Energy that can only be gotten from salvaging Ascended. You are lucky.

You got the whole track done in under 20 hours? Color me envious…

If you can do that on the revenant, then you can do it again on your normal characters.

Don’t delete the character until you have a new one leveled. Especially if you are going to play Heart of Thorns expansion, keep the Sylvari. Then you can experience the difference in the story.

If/when the time comes to delete the character strip it first. Salvage exotic armor and trinkets. If you have 4 or more exotic weapons (or 3 and a Mystic Stone) consider putting them in the Mystic Forge (a.k.a. Mystic Toilet). You will get an exotic weapon back that is not bound and if very lucky one with a nice skin. (If that exotic weapon had blue text in the description, do not destroy it!)

I have unpleasant news for you. The box only contains the serial code. You still have to download the content. (Although if you are playing now, you have already downloaded a lot of it.)

Yikes. I am sorry. It does start Friday. For some reason I keep thinking it is Thurdays now.

You cannot create a character in a Beta slot until the Beta starts tomorrow.

There must be something broken. Or we have simply so many players. But I have been downloading ever since the patch hit and I still have 27000 files left after more than 45 minutes. The speed is in the single digits kB/s most of the time.

This is the prime playing time for Europe, so waiting this long for a patch really hits hard.

Sounds a lot like my experience. Scraps are quite rare and a whole ticket I have never seen.

My mother does not play. She has never played video games and she does not like fantasy. She is also almost 71. I have no doubt she could play if she wanted to, but she has no interest.

I play though. Far too much actually. I’m 47 and my daughter is 17. I muddle along quite fine.

You should be getting another one. Maybe today or maybe in a week. (They usually add those on Fridays.)

All base materials are tradeable. But anything beyond is not. For example they cannot buy or sell planks, only logs.

They can buy bags for the three bag slots they have, any size. but it must be the basic bag. Invis, craftsman etc. are not available.

The most annoying restriction is not being able to buy or sell sigils or runes.

Named weapons/armor (as well as anything with filled upgrade slot) are off limits.

There are more, but these I remember offhand.

Considering the amount of lines that would need to be recorded, it is not realistic to have new voices.

However, having some new lines that one could use like emotes could be fun. As long as spamming was somehow disabled and other players could choose whether they want to hear them at all.

There is no way to make an expansion mandatory without having millions of angry people.

The new areas Verdant Brink and the rest will be open only to those who buy the expansion. Most things coming with the expansion will be like that, though there are some things that will be for anyone. The new WvW borderland is open for all players who can play WvW.

80 and with a lot of stuff.

1. When I played Silverwastes for 2-3 hours a day, my bank was soon overflowing with ectos. So many rares to salvage.

2. If you go there wanting clovers, it will give you mats and if you want mats, you get clovers. Although extra clovers are not a problem as you probably want to make another legendary sometime.
Have you refined t5 mats into t6 at the Mystic Forge? If not, consider that as another way of getting more of the mats.

I can’t see it effect anyone, seeing how it removing key from the level 10 story completion rewards if you try ti do it more then one a week, or you mean on multi characters at the same time?

I do mean those who have just bought the game, have five character slots and want to play more than one of them immediately.

No. The WvW is no longer needed for World Completion.

Don’t spend them yet. The merchant will stay long after the event. Wait just in case there will be another chance to earn them.

I have 16 characters, 2 of each class on my EU account. One slot waiting…
I have 15 characters, missing an engineer on my NA account.
And I have two characters on my free account.

I bought all 4 copies from the same web shop that I have bought most of my games. I am talking about physical copies here. There is no text anywhere stating anything about region.

This is odd. Mine says nothing about the key being for EU only.

You quite right. I have always loved playing with new people. Most of them find friends and guilds after a couple of weeks and I never hear from them after that, but I like being able to help. And they refresh my experience. I do not shun the veterans either though.

The dragons need their minions as tools to reach things and places that are too small for them. Much like we need screwdrivers or pestcides to fix or clean our living space. Some of us even use minion insects that eat other insects that try to eat our food.

It wasn’t a smart thing to do, but publicly apologizing for a mistake is too rare. Knowing it was wrong and apologizing is the mature thing to do. Lesson learned.

My thoughts on the price is: If they half it immediately after launch I will be quite upset having bought 4 copies. If they half it more than 6 months after, I’ll be delighted to upgrade my currently free account.

Did anyone suggest tagging along with someone who has LS2 just to see the story? You cannot get the rewards if it is locked, but you could see how things happened.

I bought the original game when it game out, later upgraded it to Deluxe. This was before the Heroic thingy existed.

Prepuchasing Hot did not change my base game in any way. I know those who won the beta lottery got their upgraded, so I guess I’ll just have to wait until after the last beat/release of HoT to find out, if I am lucky or not.

You could have also just clicked on it and chosen: unlock skin.

The precursors currently in game can be sold, but you can only craft one of each. If you want more you need to be just as lucky as you need to be now or buy one.

It says: “Upgrade your account to change your homeworld. You will get one free world transfer upon upgrade.”

Are you trying to play WvW together once your buddy gets to lvl 60? If not, how is the world ‘wrong’? Unless it is on a different region ( EU/NA) the world only matters for WvW.

Just two things:
Fans cannot limit the game. Anet decides what goes in the game.
This game is successful. One does not have to be #1 in the World to be successful. Thank goodness.

There is a level 14 reward with Map Completion.

The expansion is the price it is for everyone. The base game is free. You may be eligible for an extra character slot.

You know, the physical edition is just a DVD case with a card that has the serial number on it. They can be somewhat cheaper at retailers though.

Not according to the ad. Nor would it make much sense to reveal a specialization that cannot be played this weekend just when the beta starts.

I am not from the U.K. If you can overlook that I would be glad to help.

I cannot teach hardcore gaming, but I have learned a lot about normal PvE. If you would like to, it would be great to spend some time just playing whatever content is relevant to you.

I need to go to bed fairly early, because I start work at 6 a.m. (Your time at 4 a.m.) I am mostly available in the afternoons through early evening. I do, however, have a 17-year old daughter, who sometimes requires my immediate and total attention. I may have to take unplanned breaks.

If you think I could be of help,let me know. We’ll figure something out. This weekend I do want to try the beta things, but at least I can answer questions.

Just because stores are not on the list does not mean they don’t/won’t sell HoT. Ask your local stores that sell games.
