Maguuma Server
Ranger and Necromancer.
Kinda tired of people asking for this. I mean there are so many problems. First of all, you have to remember this is an mmoRPG and changing the race of your character (of all things) completely destroys the idea of immersion into the world and into your character. I mean hair and make-over kits are one thing, cause you can change your hair..you can get surgery, whatever. But it’s not realistic to say “Well I’m a norn today but tomorrow I’m going to be an asura” Plus there’s the whole storyline issue. As already mentioned, they can’t NOT address that because it would be buggy and just totally mess with the whole idea of rpg and immersion, again. And if they “reset” your storyline quest, then you would be able to get all the rewards again..
Anyways I think the biggest reason it will never happen and that people seem to forget, is that as an rpg this game is supposed to be immersive. Your character is supposed to be just that, a character, a person, in a real world. They aren’t just some cosmetic medium for you to use to get new stuff or whatever. And the race is NOT just a cosmetic feature of this game. It is a key point to the role-playing aspect and the story line.
Yeah I agree. Every time a new mini game comes out I wish I could enjoy it with my guildies, and even compete against them. And this goes for the permanent games like the keg brawl. And if this is an issue of possible cheating or one group dominating the other single players in the instance, then maybe when people go in as a group, have the instance only be for that group? Or I was thinking about the personal arenas that you can buy, well my guild leader bought one for our guild to use and it would be cool if that came with an option for like personal keg brawl or sanctum sprint arenas as well so we could just play together there.
Hey! I’m from a guild called The Mighty Fearless [Few] located in Borlis Pass. We’re a relatively small, casual guild who likes to have fun! We’re mainly pve oriented, but do a bit of everything. I know you’re not on our server, but we don’t have a 100% represent rule, and we don’t care how active (or not) you are. Even if you have another guild or two, and are interested in joining just for friends and dungeon runs, that’s good with us! We have a range of new to experienced players, so we can also help with any leveling or advice you may need.
Please feel free to message me, Sarahsaur in-game if you’re at all interested! Thanks for considering [Few]
Hey! The Mighty Fearless [Few] is a smallish, casual guild on Borlis Pass that just likes to have fun! We are mainly pve, but dabble in all parts of guild wars 2. Our members would be glad to help you level, give tips and advice, and guide you through dungeons as you level up! We can help show you around the world, events, jump puzzles, and the new living story content. We’d love to help you grow, and grow with you!
So if you’re at all interested, feel free to message me, Sarahsaur in-game.
Hey! So I’m from a guild called The Mighty Fearless [Few] on the Borlis Pass server.
We’re a relatively small and casual guild-we like to have fun. We have members who have been playing since release, and some still leveling up their first character! We aren’t hardcore anything, but can help with pve, wvw, and pvp. We dabble in all things gw2 but are mostly pve oriented. We don’t require 100% represent, so as you level up if you want to join a more specialized guild (wvw, pvp, etc) and only be part-time, that’s cool too! We can definitely help you level and grow, and we’d love for you to help us grow too
If interested at all, message me, Sarahsaur in-game. Thanks for your consideration!
The Mighty Fearless [Few] is a smallish casual guild in Borlis Pass that’s recruiting. We’re mainly pve, but I figured I’d type this up anyways in case maybe you wanted a second more pve-oriented guild. We do dungeons, fractals, general pve content, and whatnot. We have our own pvp arena and I know several members have been getting into pvp lately..
Anyways we’re pretty casual, but we are Borlis! and we’re always open to new members if you’re ever interested!
Just message me, Sarahsaur in-game if you want an invite or to talk or anything.
I’m sure there are lots of good technical reasons for why it’s like this, and it’s really not that big of a deal..it just makes me a little sad.
And tbh sometimes in dungeons when I switch pets, even if a fight is starting up, I sit there and take the extra time to type my pet’s name out…
I get annoyed at the people who complain about bonus stuff that is for things they dont do, aka PvP. I dont do PvP, but its not that I wont, and I like that when/if I do start, I will have some other gear to start with. Plus there is tons of other cool stuff part of the reward, like permenant account buffs and skins, and some extra coin.
I actually just started pvping cause of this new update. When I went to try the Sanctum Sprint for the first time it bugged and took me to pvp..I had never done the sprint before and thought it WAS just pvp. Nobody told me it bugged or anything. Anyways it was kinda fun and now I’m getting into it, and now I’m really excited about all these new pvp skins I’m getting lol
/not human related but..
Your dredge story reminded me of this time in Lion’s Arch someone used a tonic to turn into a big tree just in the middle of the city. Then people just started coming and kneeling around it in a circle and like worshipping the tree.
Welll……
My first character was a norn. Cause I’m always like, why pick human if I can make something more interesting? I get to play human irl. Anyways I pre-made all my characters and stuff..So I was playing my norn ele, and then my friend started playing gw2. He made a human. At the time I was all noob and didn’t know about LA or asura portals..so I was like, well I gotta get on my human to play with you. So I started playing my human ranger just so I could hang out with him. Ended up falling in love with the ranger and it became my main.
So that’s why I’m human.
I have all the current jps in the game completed…And with the massive number of people in this game who QQ about jump puzzles and beg for mesmer portals to get through them, I think that completing a full set of them really deserves to be rewarded with a special title. It would only be better if it could go to people who don’t port to the end of every puzzle, but clearly the game has no way to tell the difference.
If I had a title for this, it would be my favorite title ever..Like that one special title I would wear all the time despite any other titles I get
IKR, same here :P though I like my “Chosen”. Not many use it.
I don’t have that many special titles. Never played gw1 so I don’t get any of the cool hom titles. I’ve mostly been using Toymaker’s Apprentice lol cause the further we get away from Christmas the more people will forget about it or not have it.
Yeah..I mean at the very least, if you plan to leave early you should tell your group ahead of time. Or go with friends who want to do the same thing. I know you can just invite a 5th person, but it’s still annoying when someone leaves in the middle of a dungeon and sometimes it can be hard to find another person. Sometimes if one person leaves and you don’t have a good group, other people might ditch too. Like, I definitely think it’s dumb to report someone for leaving a dungeon early, but intentionally ditching a group is really rude.
And if you were at 2/3 you could have just finished and gotten all your rewards anyway. Personally I’d always rather do a full lv 10 run to get all the rewards, than to just do 1 or 2 instances to complete a daily.
edit~~
After reading a bit more in this thread..Well first of all it’s clear that you’re really NOT a dungeon runner. Anybody who actually does dungeons/fractals at all regularly knows how rude it is to just leave like that. And it’s really insensitive to join a group of 5 people, and then decide your personal needs are superior than that of the groups. Essentially you’re just using them like objects to get what you need. What I’d suggest to you, sir, is to go and actually DO dungeons. Like real, explore path dungeons. And the kittenes. And the higher level, full fractals. Do them on a regular basis and then you’ll understand why you should respect your group.
(edited by Genavelle.9516)
Well you can add me and we can do fractals together sometime if you want. in-game name Sarahsaur. I’m on level 15, working on leveling up but also working on leveling my guildies up (they’re all like, under 10).
I understand what you mean, though. I mean there will always be bad pugs for ANY dungeon. C’est la vie. But what bugs me about Fractals is when I’m doing a 10+ run and I get pugs who don’t even know what to do. I mean no offense, but at 10+ you shouldn’t be saying “Oh hey I’ve never done this one before”. I mean fractals stays relatively the same, with a few changes, as it levels up. It just gets harder. So I don’t get why people feel the need to skip a ton of levels. 1-9 is there for you to learn the instances, learn what needs to be done, etc. So by 10+ when agony is introduced, and mobs start getting harder, you don’t have to learn anymore. You just enjoy the challenge of harder fights and better rewards.
I rolled D/D and full conditions on my thief while leveling, I don’t see your excuse :P
What excuse? If you’re leveling with daggers (and conditions especially) it is one of the hardest professions to level. Sword/pistol is so much easier it’s not even funny. Still kitten easy, but that’s because leveling in this game is kitten easy. Which is a good thing, cause leveling is hardly the most interesting part of any game.
Saw someone in this thread say ranger was hard…Idk what you were doin man, but you weren’t doin it right.
Now I started playing an ele got it to about lv 40, then started my ranger which became my main and is my only 80. I also have a necro around 40. So I don’t have a lot of experience with the different classes, but I do think ranger is a pretty easy class to level. I mean leveling ranger, you can just use your pet as a tank while you kill stuff. I wouldn’t recommend this as an endgame playstyle, but it works pretty well for soloing in open pve maps as you’re just leveling and getting used to the class. Plus rangers do have some nice aoes that you can use against groups when you’re leveling.
I’ve said it and I maintain it. Again, it’s not about it being hard, just harder than most. Which it is. Pet tanking is nice and all, but that only works against small numbers. If you compare it to, for example, the heavy classes that don’t even need the pet to tank, while still doing higher damage (and for the most part better AoE), it’s hard to say ranger is on even ground.
I guess Necro can have some issues as well, given that they lack cleave in all their weapons, so until a bit later when you can roll some wells, you’re kinda lacking AoE for that quick area clear.
I guess. I did come to ranger from ele, which I had a lot of problems with. And any good eles out there can call me a sucky ele if you want, I’m sure it’s true. Anyways ranger was a lot easier for me and I haven’t had much experience with the heavy armor professions. I’ve tried leveling my warrior and guardian but they both kind of bore me.
Thank you ANet. Love the Zenith weapons. The only part I don’t like is having to decide which to get. My Mesmer NEEDS that greatsword but my Ranger has been complaining about his lackluster torch for ages. ;(
Well you get another one like every 2000 points or something.
There is but, They are like anti the theme of thieves, thieves are hell/shadow/dark themed. while zenith are competly opposite, heaven/light/Crystals….
Ah but maybe you’re just thinking the wrong way. MAYBE it’s all crystally and pretty because you stole it. Because you’re a thief. And you steal expensive, bright, crystally things.
I have all the current jps in the game completed…And with the massive number of people in this game who QQ about jump puzzles and beg for mesmer portals to get through them, I think that completing a full set of them really deserves to be rewarded with a special title. If I had a title for this, it would be my favorite title ever..Like that one special title I would wear all the time despite any other titles I get
Yeah…I mean I love different skins for different looks, and I love getting special limited-time items that I can have forever to show off in like 3 years and whatnot. But they’re throwing SO many special skins at us all the time and a lot of times they’re even the same type of skins (backpieces, backpieces, and MORE backpieces). I don’t have enough space..I don’t even have enough CHARACTERS for all of these backpieces. And I know that we can buy more bank/inventory tabs but there was already so much stuff in the game before all these new reward skins, and honestly I have to wonder where did they expect us to put them? I’ve always joked about when Anet was going to give me a closet for all my different armors, but for special reward skins it atleast would be a nice idea. Or maybe they could calm down with the skins and find something else equally cool to give out for a while, then alternate? I mean I just feel like we’re all gonna be overwhelmed by special skins. Nobodys going to want any of the other million skins the game has because they’re overloaded by these ones. And in the end, it’s going to backfire in that so many skins is to help the customization and individuality of characters..but when everybody is getting the same new, special skins, we’re all going to end up wearing the latest new skin and looking the same anyway.
As for running 3 traps, you can get by without the Poison one and the Chill one, the chill one though is nice if used, and could probably take the place of Flame Trap if using torch offhand…
The reason I started using chill trap more, is because other people have told me that is the one trap they hate the most when fighting a ranger.
It’s funny, because it’s the only trap we have that does zero damage, heck: it doesn’t even aggro a mob if that’s all you use on it.Poison trap does a lot of damage too, and poison helps for the reduced healing.
The main issue is that it does it’s damage very slooooowly. Where flam trap does the same in a few ticks. The obvious choice seems spike trap and flame trap as base.
I do use torch ofhand, so I could indeed swap flame trap for chill or poison.I usually run this in my trap build:
- axe-torch (my best condition appliers in one set, despite having no evade there)
- sword- warhorn for mobility and escapeHealing spring
Spike Trap
Flame (or snake)
Lighting Reflexes (or occasionaly chill trap)
Entangling Roots because it fits the build (even though RaO is ‘better’)My issues with this:
1. warhorn is such a poor choice, especially in a condition build. I love those birds… but their damage is pathetic. The least they could do is cripple or chill for such a long cooldown.2. I think 2 traps is very limiting for a ‘trap’ build.
3. Lightning reflexes is a nice jump, and having the vigor is incredibly strong as ‘side effect’ for escapping.
And it shares the lower cooldown with Entangling Roots if you trait your survival skills.
The only downsides are that it doesn’t clenase immobilized, crippled or chill, which are your main issues in bigger fights. Stuns are only half the story.
And of course: it eats a trap spot…
Sorry too tired to have read through previous posts. Anyways I play a trap ranger build, mostly pve..and a build I made myself with no online cookie cutter builds or nothin. So it probably could use some improvements lol. Anyways! In regards to skills and stuff,
I like to run with chill, flame, and spike traps generally..If I ever have to switch a skill out for some other skill, signet or whatever, chill is always the first one to go. Simply cause it does no damage. Although I started pvping a couple days ago and have been using my chill trap there (with flame and no spike) simply because one of my friends was complaining about chill in pvp and I decided to try it out.
I run with just a shortbow for pve, and I personally never use the poison trap. I have the shortbow poison skill and I normally have atleast 1 spider equipped who can deal poison damage, and I use those so I can free a utility slot for one of my other traps. I also generally run with Entangle as my elite, except for situations where Rampage as One is more beneficial. I like Entangle in pve because it immobilizes enemies (in groups, too) and does damage in itself. In my few days of pvp, it’s been okay but a lot of people manage to avoid/get out of it..but I’m still learning pvp.
Also, the bank tab below it is fully filled with town clothing (and 3 town weapons).
I’m comfortable and fine with my bank, when and if I do need more space, I move items onto my alt chars. I simply like them in my bank for the sake of accessibility (even though I never use them).
Note: all those backpacks are level 0 and accountbound except the 2 southsun skins. Those are level 80 and accountbound.
Omg townclothes. I don’t even know what to do with townclothes. I’m scared to throw them away because I can never get them again..And with the backpacks it’s more than just bank/inventory space. It just makes me sad to see new backpiece skins but then think “When will I ever use this?” Either I make yet ANOTHER backpiece for my main that I play all the time, and have to switch between them all, or I put it on an alt that I barely ever play…And I’m running out of alts to give backpieces to.
I’m pretty sure there were zenith skins for all of the weapons?
.But I think that rewarding such large amounts is really just not fair. I mean in the past, you really had to earn your badges and as a casual WvWer, it could take quite a while to get a stack of 250.
“In the past, my great grandma had to walk to the nearest water place to wash all of her clothes by hand, so it’s not really fair that people get washing machines these days”
Life is not fair. Deal with it. We move forward, we progress. Things get better.
That said, these are one time rewards. You’re getting a lot of them now because, like most people, the system just came out and, fortunately, works retroactively, so most of us have quite a pile up of achievement points to cash in. Once you catch up to your current AP you won’t be getting these daily.
Well the thing is, they are things you’re generally supposed to work towards. And like I said I think it’s good to give out badges from the chests, but is a whole stack really necessary? Especially when it only takes 2 stacks to buy the Gift of Battle?
It’s free stuff. Take it. Before this, we had 0% accountbound bonuses.
Saw someone in this thread say ranger was hard…Idk what you were doin man, but you weren’t doin it right.

Yeah idk. I mean tbh I don’t care for the new skins, but I’m not gonna cry about it and demand different skins. It’s nice they even decided to give us so much in the way of rewards for achievement points. My only real complaint is that maybe the number of badges of honor given is too much, I mean I’ve seen people in map chat linking 250 badges and asking “what are these for”. No offense but I don’t think if you don’t know what a badge of honor is and haven’t spent 2 mins in wvw that you should be handed a whole stack of badges free.
Wellllll I’ma still work for my Dreamer..but I do have to say in general the skins in this game are great. Weapons, armor, whatever. Everything has so much detail and there’s so much room for customization and choice. Personally I’m not a big fan of the zenith skins, but whatever it’s all personal choice. Did love those dragon jade skins. Got the longbow cause it looked so awesome and I don’t even use a longbow.
Yeah I think general pve mapping/leveling wise it’s pretty easy to solo. I mean sure group events might not be soloable..but that’s why they’re group events? And champions are hard, but..they’re champions. Kinda makes sense. They also aren’t impossible to solo, but it’s not the easiest thing in the world. As far as Orr goes..you really never see anyone? I mean generally when I go into Orr anymore, it’s Cursed Shore, but there are ALWAYS people there. Farmin and stuff. Other areas of zones probably are pretty empty except for temple runs, but whatever. I mapped most of the world solo, but tbh I much prefer playing with other people. Only real advantage to mapping solo is that I can do it quicker than if I have other people needing different things, but I find that it’s more fun to play together. Regardless if you like soloing, that’s fine too.
Yeah as some other people have said, finding a good guild is the best way to make friends and have people to play with in the game. The trouble is sometimes it can be hard finding a guild that works for you.
Regardless, feel free to add me or chat with me or whatever in-game. If you really want, I could send you a guild invite too, but I’m in Borlis Pass and I’d suggest finding a guild on your own server.
Anyways! account name is Genavelle, main character is Sarahsaur and I’m always good for chatting, helping, etc.
Backpacks? Do I hear backpacks?
Ha. But that’s what I mean! And don’t get me wrong, I love all the creative backpack skins but that’s just the problem. Especially when they make special limited-time skins like for the living stories, because then you feel obligated to get them so you don’t miss out. And you don’t want to throw them away because you can never get them again.
I actually think it might be sort of neat if they made all accessories visible on characters, and they could be creative and make special skins for those. They aren’t critical and don’t have to have a specific appearance like a chestpiece or pants might, and there are also several spots for them. The designers would have a lot of room to be creative with interesting skins, and we wouldn’t have to get so stocked up on backpieces.
This still defeats the purpose of exploring the map. And if your character doesn’t have a specific area explored/open yet, why should you be able to magically transport there to help with a guild mission, or for any reason? I mean if you had all wps available you would never have to actually travel anywhere. I mean you could just teleport.
Anyways, I don’t think Anet is ever going to do this and you’d make better use of your time mapping.
This is not a valid point, otherwise no account bound item/title/skin etc. would have any sense.
And why is bad not being force to travel trought the whole map whit an alt? If you want to, just do it.
This has nothing to do with account-bound items. Map completion is part of character progression whereas items are just items. Each new character is a brand new slate, and especially because of things like exploration achievements, gift of exploration, it wouldn’t be fair or make sense to make mapping easier just because you’ve done it once. Essentially, when you map as it is you HAVE to run all over the place…to find every heart, vista, poi, portal to the next map, etc. If you already had all the waypoints, you don’t have to do that. You just waypoint everywhere. I mean you could waypoint straight from The Grove to Cursed Shore. You’d die within 2 seconds, but point is level 2s should not be able to get into Orr. Just doesn’t make sense. This would also really mess up the whole immersion of the game, as I already pointed out. The whole point of a mmoRPG is more than for you to sit there, click, and see how fast you can complete everything/make money. It’s about the role-playing. It’s about BEING your character, living their story, and their growth. You don’t get to see them actually exploring the world and being a real character in a real world if you can waypoint to anywhere in the entire map of Tyria.
Plus, there is literally no good reason for this other than people being lazy and not wanting to map again.
This is actually a fair point, I think. I’ve been getting so much stuff from special events/living story events whether it be a new currency, skins, reward items, whatever. Point is I only have so much bank space and that was already running out before. I’d really like it if the special currencies such as baubles, zhaitaffy, etc could be depositable, like the candy corn from Halloween was. It also would be sort of nice if dungeon tokens and maybe even boosters (especially now that I get a ton from achievement chests) could be depositable. These kinds of items all just take up space that I don’t have and I really don’t see why I should have half of my bank or inventory filled up with a stack of tokens from every dungeon until I get enough to buy something.
I’d also kind of like it if they started finding new rewards other than backpiece skins. Seriously I can only use so many backpieces.
That would make every map completion following your first way too easy.
I disagree. The hard part of map completion are hearts/vistas/WvW maps/PoI, unlock waypoints is the easiest part.
+1 to the OP!
So having to actually travel to hearts/vistas/pois was instant for your first time? -_-
If you want to spend few gold you could be a very little bit quicker, but over all it would not be OP and it would give people with alts a way to participart with guild missions by any character once one of their characters mawe 100% map.
Yeah you can use the bank to transfer items between characters.
Although I have to say, I would like it if when you pick up things at the trading post, there were an option to only take some of the items. I mean as it is, the button says “Take all” as if you could choose to not take everything. So it would be kind of nice if you just wanted to pick up your gold, or one specific item. It’s not that big of a deal, but it might be kind of nice.
Yeah..I mean clearly this isn’t the most urgent issue and it’s not really hurting anything, but it does kind of take something away from the class from an rpg perspective. For the pets I use the most, I have memorized the names I pick for them (cause I want them to have the same name every time), but it would be nice if the game were set up so they kept their names. It just kind of makes it feel like the game/Anet doesn’t care about the class very much. I mean the pets are one of the key things about rangers, and if we have the option to name them it would only make sense for them to keep their names…
I’d say if you want to make a ranger…go for it. Worst case scenario, you end up not liking it or whatever and make a new character.
Anyways I have been playing my ranger since about October..and since then it’s been my main character. I love my ranger. I mainly do pve, so I’m not even gonna talk about wvw or pvp. I feel that I do perfectly fine with endgame content as a ranger, in pve. I run dungeons a lot, fractals, etc. I like to think that I’m a fairly good player and while I don’t think I necessarily have the BEST best best ranger build out there, it works well for me and I can participate and contribute to my party when we’re doing dungeons and whatever.
I think a lot of how well you do and what you can do really just depends on your specific build, and there are a lot of options when it comes to builds, and yourself as a player. And this goes for any class, really. A good player can take a not-so-great build and still run fine with it, because they’re going to be able to use their playing skills with dodging, timing, spacing, etc to stay alive and deal damage. A really bad player is probably going to suck regardless of how good their build is. I find that the ranger is fun for me personally to play, and I enjoy it. Sure as QQers in the forums will let you know, it has its bugs and it has its problems, but it’s not really a terrible class. I also know other rangers in-game who play perfectly well and one of them is probably one of the best players I know in the game, period. Sorry if this wasn’t super specific or helpful. I haven’t played other classes enough to really compare them, but I just want to let you know that rangers aren’t that terrible and if you enjoy them you should play them. If you’re committed to it, you’ll find a playstyle that works for you and be a good ranger.
Sadly the ranger class as a whole seems to be a haven for bad players ,moreso then any of the other classes. So while the class has some deficiencies the general lack of players experienced with the class tends to bring a ton of QQ posts and omg I’m quitting threads.
I find it really wierd that when you look carefully you find ranger actually has probably the highest skill floor of all classes and too many ignore ranger melee, or event Axe since recent updates.
the reason there is so many bad rangers, is exactly because the skillfloor is just way higher then most other professions. The sheer fact that you must actually CARE a bit about playing your class makes it night impossible for most people to play it. Let alone the fact that the vast majority reads the class as “epic WoW-hunter like archer” when instead they shoulda read “this looks like Aragorn from LotR”
Omg..Now whenever I play I can think of myself like Aragorn..
Thank you so much :’)
So I normally don’t use the forums much (too much QQing and pointing out issues that I never noticed) but since I’m here…I saw this thread and thought it would be a really cool idea to join a ranger guild. Thing is, is this a EU server guild? I’m on Borlis Pass which is US and if I joined I’d like to be able to do dungeons, or maybe sometimes guest servers to do missions or whatnot. I’m also currently in a guild which I enjoy and was wondering if I could join this guild, but not represent all the time?
Sorry I didn’t read your whole post, mostly cause I have a headache and I think I get your general idea.
Um I’d also like to see a “growing world” with new, permanent maps being introduced..I mean I think that’d be exciting for everyone. But I think the thing we have to remember is that GW2 isn’t even a year old yet, and if they start introducing the new maps too soon and too quick, then they’ll get through them all much too soon and there won’t be any new maps/permanent content to bring in. I think right now they’ve just been experimenting with, and now seriously getting into the whole living story idea and are just trying to pace themselves with what they add. (Not talking about the 2-week pace, but just not starting with new maps too quickly.)
Why would you do this…This game is meant to immerse you into the game, into Tyria. When you log in to your character, you’re supposed to be logging into that person with their storyline and their life. It’s not just “oh this is my main and this is my alt and they’re all ME” That’s not the purpose of rpg. So when you’re leveling up an alt, it’s like starting over as a whole new person with no knowledge of your first character. You don’t have free map completion because that character, that person, literally has not been to those places yet. One of Anet’s goals for this game was to be enjoyable for all types of players, including those who enjoy experiencing different characters, storylines, etc.
So it wouldn’t really make sense to give all your alts a free pass on world exploration just because you did it once. Not to mention a Gift of Exploration is required for legendary weapons, and then you would never be able to earn those after your first character.
So you should buy the ascended gear on the character you want to use it on.
why should you not be given the option to enjoy the trinkets you’ve earned on more than just one of your characters?
What..? Even if they were account-bound when you bought them, there’s no way any ascended item would NOT be soulbound-on-use…So they’re only ever going to be “enjoyed” on ONE character anyway. You should just pay attention and make sure you purchase it on the character you want to use it on.

I really like the new achievement chests, a nice way to reward players for completing the achievements more than just building up points. But I noticed that atleast from one of the chests, I and others seemed to get a TON of badges of honor. I didn’t pay attention to exactly how many badges I received, or whether it was the same amount for other people, but I do know I went from something like 80 badges to having two stacks of badges from JUST my chest rewards. I have also seen people linking whole stacks of 250 badges in either map or whisper chat and asking “what do I do with these?”
Now, I think that awarding some badges in achievement chests is good because there are WvW achievements and it’s a nice incentive…But I think that rewarding such large amounts is really just not fair. I mean in the past, you really had to earn your badges and as a casual WvWer, it could take quite a while to get a stack of 250. (Not sure about hardcore WvWers because I am not one myself). I don’t really feel that it’s fair to people who earn them that people who may have never even set foot in WvW can now get such large amounts of badges so easily. Not to mention, in order to create a legendary weapon you are required to buy a Gift of Battle for 500 badges. Which, again, for anyone less than hardcore all-the-time WvW, could take some time and effort. I spent atleast a month casually working up to my 500 badges, but I did have to actually go earn those. Now if people are just given so many badges, it may take 2-4 chests for them to have enough to buy that Gift of Battle..Which seems really unproportionate to the amount of work that is required for pretty much every other aspect of creating a legendary weapon.
So I’m just suggesting that maybe the number of badges rewarded in Achievement chests is reduced to something around maybe 10-25 badges per chest. I think they’re a nice reward, especially for people who complete a lot of WvW achievements, but I don’t think it’s really necessary or fair to hand out really big stacks of badges for something that doesn’t actually require any WvW participation.
I don’t think they would allow you to change your race, mainly because along with your race comes a specific storyline which only exists for that race. Plus each race comes with race-specific skills in your utility skill section. There are probably a lot of other little details, but being able to change your race after already acquiring these skills and starting a certain storyline is really just not reasonable in the game. The races play a role into your storyline and game experience, more than just a cosmetic thing such as your hair color.
I don’t understand why people whine so much about jump puzzles/jump related things in this game. I mean the game is so big, and this is one little aspect. And some people REALLY enjoy the jumping so sometimes Anet includes special jump puzzle achievements or jumping things in new content. Because that’s part of the game. And every time, people start whining about it and whatnot. I mean okay maybe jumping isn’t your thing, maybe something like a medical condition or bad connection actually messes with your jumping abilities. But for some of us who enjoy the jumping, I’m sure we all have something in the game we aren’t good at or don’t like. But I never see so many people complaining SO much about anything else as something like this. I just don’t understand why people feel they’re so special that because they personally don’t like/aren’t good at jumping, all jump-related content should stop being added/encouraged in the game. I mean personally I don’t like WvW much, but I’m not going to whine whenever they update it or promote it or when I had to get 500 badges for my legendary.
I understand maybe this new content, as a whole, may be difficult for people who aren’t good at jumping/have bad connection or whatever. But there are other things to do in the game if it’s really undo-able for you. But in general, this new content ISN’T impossible for the majority of players and you probably are able to participate in atleast some of it. Just try to enjoy what you can and remember it’s a game and it’s here to please all of the players, not just your specific wants/needs. And as other people have said, this is actually a really fun update. Just because your bad connection/eyesight whatever prevents you from enjoying it doesn’t mean that it automatically is dumb or bad or something.
Hello! My name is Sarah and I’m from Borlis Pass and I’m here to tell you about my new guild: Rosenholme.
This is a new guild, so it is pretty small. But not to fear! We are actively trying to recruit so we can grow in size and get influence to get upgrades and other fun things. So please, don’t think of size as a bad thing, but rather a chance to really get to know your guildies and the start of something great. Plus, representing will not be required. I strongly encourage guildies to represent, but I understand that especially while we’re small, you may have other obligations.
Since we are small and can’t do guild missions quite yet, I’d like to say that there are lots of other activities I will work to make sure we can enjoy as a guild. Dungeons, wvw, and world events are always good, and I know I’m always willing to help out with these. We will also start doing hide-and-seek for fun, and any other exciting activities you might suggest!
I’m working on getting Raidcall set up so we can use that if guildies are interested as well, and maybe even a guild website if I can figure that out.
Anyways, I’d really love it if you would consider joining my guild. Once we get growing and start rolling in the influence, I know this will be an amazing guild, right now all we need is your help in joining!
So if you’re at all interested, please send a pm or mail message to myself, Sarahsaur or to Atoneff. Thank you so much!
I just want to express that I am VERY unhappy with the current service regarding gems and the gemstore. About a week ago I paid $20 for 1600 gems, mainly because I wanted to buy the limited time halloween witch costume. So I then bought this for 700 gems. Then the item, through some glitch or something, disappeared from my mail and I have posted in here several times, submitted a help ticket, and was told that I should receive the item within 72 hours. Except then it still never came. So I responded as soon as I could to let the guild wars team know that my item was still missing. Now I have received an email that they’re sorry, but there’s nothing they can do and I will not be receiving my costume. And while this is of course, rather disappointing, what is the worst is that I have not been refunded my 700 gems. If I paid my money to buy something, and did not receive it due to an error in the game and not of my own fault, if I cannot ever get this item I have a right to be refunded my money.
I just wanted to post again to say I submitted a help ticket about my issue with my gem shop purchase disappearing from my inbox, and received an email that it was being worked on and I should receive the item within 72 hours. This was three days ago and I still have not gotten the item that I purchased in the game. I just really hope that this is being worked on, or at the very least I could be refunded my gems, even though the item I tried to buy is limited time and will probably only be available for a couple more days.

I bought a 700 gem witch costume in the gem store, and then I did actually receive it in my mail. However, I didn’t take it immediately because I wanted it on a different character, and then when I later tried to get it for that character, when I checked my inbox the message wasn’t there anymore. I didn’t delete the message or do anything to it, but both it and the latest halloween guide were gone from my inbox. I tried cleaning out my inbox and they still didn’t show up.
