A combination of laurels and badges? Why does everything in this game have to be gated when it comes to ascended gear?
I have guildies who have been saving up badges for ascended, hell, I’ve been saving up badges for ascended. We’re what this measure is supposed to stop, I guess, but it’s unnecessary. The only gate that should exist is the acquisition of badges. I have a guildie who has put 2000 hours or so into WvW, and virtually nothing into PvE, and they have 13000 badges. Do they not deserve to get something out of their 13000 badges? So what if they get the gear immediately? PvE players have had this gear since November.
Even laurels are annoying to WvW-only players, because many of them (I’d say 30-40% at least) require you to do at least some PvE to complete them.
C’mon Anet, I’ve waited 6 months for ascended in WvW, and now you’re going to make me wait at least another month or two to farm laurels in order to be on the same level as players who have had this gear since November? This is just as outrageous as adding the gold cost to exotic gear in WvW, when PvE players doing dungeons MAKE gold while getting exotics, whereas we have to spend the gold we make and the badges we make?
I was excited about this update until now, too.
Because WvW is never designed as a secluded/independent content from the very first place. We can see that ANET subtly encourages players to spend time in other PvE area too, not only WvW. This game is rich in content, and it is pretty understandable if the developers tend to stimulate its players to experience it in more than one area.
Of course we as players ultimately may choose want we want to do in game. But in terms of rewards, we don’t have that honor. Honestly, it is already really good that ANET finally acknowledges the effort of WvW-only-players by adding this laurel+badge merchant and other stuffs.
Yeah if ANET would stop changing things so drastically in the future, that’d be great.
The direction of WvW seems quite dire now.
I agree that there should be minimum or even no notifications at all.
Instead they should add messaging systems between camps/towers/keeps/castle, that NPCs can use to send pieces of information like warnings, upgrade status, or even supply status through messenger birds.
How cool is that to chase and keel such a bird.
Oh what a great idea. Why not introduce graveyard and cemetery too? That way, your guildmates and relatives may visit your grave once you are killed.
Then you become zombie.
It needs nerf, but not to be in par with sPvP.
sPvP and WvW are different on so many levels. If this is the direction that WvW is heading to, we can expect that all skills will be nerfed as well just to be ‘fair’.
I believe though, if this nerf really exterminates Confusion Mesmer on the battlefield, it will be boosted again (perhaps in other ways) in next few weeks.

5 days to go. Another set of 1800 gems to be wasted. Sadly my request to be re-transferred back to JQ was rejected.

As in better skins.
Fused weapons are amazing, but the staff is not; while the rest looks like imbued by Kratos’ rage, the staff looks like a rod with flaming French fries on top.
And generally, staves’ skins need better too. Many of them are … awkward.
This is not a serious game stopper issue; I still enjoy the game so much, but I do hope staves will get more attention in the future.

I am amazed with how organized SAHP has become, as compared to the old days on SBI. And the SoR zerg is surely immense!

No it doesn’t. WvW is obviously “Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay”.
Of course leeching is irrelevant in WvW and the “this also includes” means it includes sPvP leeching in the category. Not exclusive.
Spying/sabotage is not “participating in matches in good faith”. It would take a pretty big twist to convince yourself otherwise, even if you’re a perpetrator?
Same with “inappropriate behavior”, “other misconduct”, and “match manipulation”.
I don’t see how they can make it anymore clear than that without extending it to 100 pages for every conceivable and inconceivable offense that no one would ever read.
We have seen ArenaNet use the term PvP exclusively for sPvP and NOT for WvW.
The examples are all throughout their game update notes where they make certain changes for PvP (they use the term PvP to refer to sPvP) and the changes do not affect WvW/PvE.
So 22 does not apply to WvW.
Spying and sabotage is allowed. Killing your teammates in the Eternal Battlegrounds jumping puzzle is allowed. Taking slots in WvW so you can do the jumping puzzle instead of fighting other players is allowed. Partying with enemy players is allowed.
Talking with enemy players is allowed. Guesting on enemy server’s in lions arch (and other PvE locations) so you can boast and brag is allowed. Buying multiple guild wars accounts is allowed. Multiboxing is allowed as long as each account is personally controlled by the player (and not macros/bots). Reading “enemy” movements, map/team chat on your 2nd account and conveying that information to your “primary” account’s server is therefore allowed.

It clearly says ‘World versus World’ is considered as one of the PvP modes in Guild Wars 2.
I believe rule 22 affects WvW too in the sense that Anet does encourage players to actively participate with good intention. If by ‘good intention’ means that players should not disrupt other people’s game experience, then spying and sabotaging are a big no.
Multi-boxing is allowed, yes, but if one multi-boxes to other server just to excessively boast/drain supply/purposely chose silly keep-tower upgrades/whatever that affect other people’s game experience in a bad way, then these kinds of multi-boxing are not allowed.
The problem is that it’s really hard to tell the good from the bad, also considering that there are many that fall in between. Hence, we should not blatantly encourage other players that spying/sabotaging is allowed, so that they will not rely on these methods to have advantage.

Apply x number of hit that a thief can receive during stealth. This counter decreases when the thief receives non-conditional damage, and if this number reaches 0, the thief should be revealed.
Also, if possible, faint footsteps.

I think ANet should implement a simple voting system for the services/upgrades. Since it is meant for the benefit of majority, it is more sensible if more than one person could vote for it.
^ Ah that explains it. But if you tried to link your dreamer in chatbox, would it be shown as orange, or violet?
I just transmuted my incinerator, and it is being showed as orange on the chat box.
I guess a dev would really need to elaborate about that patch note better.

Could the dev explain the meaning of that sentence more? Perhaps I understood it wrongly.
I think we should not regard individual opinions as the words from the whole server. True that several SoS players are complaining about coverage now, but I bet there are plenty out there that are still doing their best and having fun (like what the rest of us are doing) on the field.
There were plenty of awesome battles earlier today, and I really enjoyed them.
To those that complain about coverage, perhaps you should realize that:
- Complaining about it on forum will do no good; history has shown that.
- If you think you need a better / more coverage, then get it. You should not expect adversaries to send lesser people to balance yours.
And actually, I feel that updates on Culling will affect the above-mentioned tactics more than the transfer lockdown on 28th.

I only experience this when there is no arrow up on my skill bar; that is, if i was in the ‘combat mode’ (the state when you take damage from falling off, being attacked by someone, etc.), and I log out, I will be lying on the floor when I log back in.
Like what SteepledHat said, WP back before you log out, just to be safe.
Is it possible to give a cooldown to WvW after server restart, or when a new build is introduced? As some people need more time to download and install new files, giving no cooldown to it has only given competitive advantage to those that could download faster.
In the past, there was even a server that took advantage of this, and really excelled after server restart; it managed to wipe most of undefended camp/tower/castle/etc due to this loophole.

There are inconsistent behaviours from this dagger. The entrance animation and fire-blast effect (when we strike enemy) do not seem to trigger when we wield it on off hand.
The real T1 match starts next week.
Oh, you take the result too serious. That makes you to post so many awkward excuses. Maybe SOS is not prepared for standing in T1, but no matter what’s the situation, we just do our best and that’s all. I still can not tell that we are good enough or not, but that’s totally not our concerns. We just fight on and on and have fun and learn something no matter we win or lose.
For Sea of Sorrowsers, we have 4 more days to go and tough weeks in the future. Our enemies are very very strong. Plz join WvW battlefield to help our server.

Take it as an excuse if SoS players wish to, but I did play in WvW with outmanned buff for the past few days; that is, I do not see the usual players that I roll with last week. Lost Shores? FoTM? Most likely, since those gears and drops are too good to be missed for a match that we usually have every day.
Anyway, BG had a similar situation in the past (with a bigger gap), and we did catch up on the last few days. ;D Let’s hope you are not getting too confident to end up that way.
I do not see night-capping as an issue, but the orb and outmanned buffs are.
The logic that WvW has currently is kind-of broken in this area; if one world severely outnumbers the other two, there is a high probability that this world will get the orbs. What’s worse is that after getting this orb(s), the superior-in-number world will be even stronger than before. The outmanned worlds need to try to get them back, however, they are outnumbered, and the buff that helps them, if they are severely outnumbered are not helping either. (Karma, experience, MF, will not affect directly how they perform)
I really appreciate Anet’s statement regarding Night Capping; they acknowledge that this game is meant to be played around the globe. So, the term ‘night capping’, is not that valid because it’s obviously day time on the other side of the world when it’s night time on US.
I hope Anet will fix tune the buffs, so at least, the outmanned world(s) will be able to return the blow. Things like getting camp-farmed due to outnumbered, and being able to do almost nothing due to superior orb buffs on the other side, are frustrating now.
Also, is it possible to give a cooldown for WvW after server reboot? I believe that some people will take longer time to update the client, due to Internet connection and whatnot. Since the battle should resume like before the reboot happened, at least there should be a cooldown for people to get in back to the game.

Uhh I usually go with party, and thief’s downed state is really useful to tele myself closer to my party (we have one member that has revive rune set). So I would say that it is really useful.
If you are fighting alone and overwhelmed, there is nothing much (that you are supposed) to do. :o If you are downed and able to take many enemies down (which have plenty of health left), then it is overpowered.
Similar issue. I could not purchase gems using PayPal and Credit card recently.
