If H&R block ever stops screwing up taxes for people I’ll try and get a couple hundred boxes and do a test.

I’ll start with the obligatory, ‘your first mistake is letting H&R Block do your taxes.’

Okay, now on to the subject.

Here’s the results of your experiment; Anet just collected a bunch of cash for an extremely rare chance at weapon skin in a computer game. Hell, you probably just financed the entire cost to produce the asset.

As long as people continue to drops loads of $$ into Anets coffers for the BLTC gambling scam, then there is zero incentive for Anet to ever stop the practice.

It looks like they have made thousands just from the responders to this thread alone.

That’s why need to convince Anet that many smaller sales at cheaper prices. Is more profitable the a fewer sales at higher prices.

“Few sales at high prices” leads to a loss in the customer base.
“Many sale at low prices” increases the customer base.

I disagree slightly. Both models can work, like comparing Wal Mart to Ikea. For fashionable things people are willing to spend more. For everyday living people are willing to pay what they “need” to, to enjoy or simply get by. By no means is an MMO something I would say people are playing and paying to “get by”. As the MMO itself costs money to purchase, and the microtransactions support its development.

I see gem purchases as extravagant costs, as things we in no way whatsoever need to enjoy the game. While it is true that a low cost can improve sales, like I said Wal Mart works this well. I disagree because you can buy gems with gold, which does not fund arenanet. So lowering gem costs would lower profits they use to sustain the game.

What this product should do is attract a crowd of harpies anytime someone uses it in the open world. Then the seller NPC comment, “why should anyone want something that gives you harpies”?, would come true. ^^ Plus it would liven up the wait.

Best freaken quest ever :P I told my guild what the NPC said and they cracked up so hard lol

I see so much RNG rage but I don’t see anyone suggesting an alternative that would meet the requirements of human psyc. for satisfaction and reward being offered (just more exploitable bad ideas).

1) Tell us the chance of a BLKit dropping a ticket. Let’s say it’s 1/100, just for the sake of argument.
2) Offer tickets in the TP for 75 times the cost of the key.

Gamblers can risk buying keys in hopes of getting a discount.
People who don’t like gambling can support ANet by buying a ticket outright.

ANet makes money, and both sides are satisfied.

Good suggestion.

BL key 100 gems
Fused Ticket 800 Gems

Something like that seems fine. 800 gems is $10? Pretty sure they are worth 10 bucks, they did a good job on the skins. On the downside that’s like 18g lol, but probably still worth it, and the gems should settle soon now that keys and stuff are off sale :P unless somethen else amazing goes on sale.

Fused Weapon Skins meet Frozen Weapon Skins

I would also like to say maybe people should hold off a bit on buying them, because if it does change, the time between then and now will only make it worse. unless these are temporary which I’m not sure of. To go even a step farther, and this probably won’t happen. But if they did something like this AND tossed a key or a few keys to every accounts mailbox, might take away some of the pain people feel.

Only other thing I see happening is having a special deal to get them directly down the line for limited time.

Fused Weapon Skins meet Frozen Weapon Skins

Geotherma.2395

I see a lot of anger over the new skins because they are RNG based.

Basically you buy some keys and hope for the fused skins or something else you desire. And I understand this is problematic for some people. But maybe this can help:

Arenanet adds Frozen/opposite skins directly on the gem store. (No RNG)
These skins can be used to skin a weapon of your choice.
But heres the biggy-
If you don’t like the skin or you wanted the Fused version, you can take the unopened frozen weapon and use it as currency to trade it for the fused ones.
So to reiterate:
Buy skin directly off store, go to fused NPC and second tab allows you to buy a different Fused weapon instead so long as the weapon skin has not been used.

Now this works both ways.

The Fused weapon skin NPC would also allow you (3rd tab) to buy Frozen style skins with your fused ones.
So the exchange would be even, the gem cost would be even. And there is a chance that when you open a BL chest it could give you a free fused ticket, which could be used or traded for the one you want.

Now it is early in the AM for me, but this seems balanced. In all seriousness correct me if any part is flawed and I will try to correct it or discuss it.

What are your thoughts?

It’s not a bad idea but it seems drastically overcomplicated.

Why not just directly sell the fused weapon skins in addition to having the tickets come out of chests? They can say “Due to popular demand” or whatever.

I just think putting them directly on the store would even more annoy people who spent a ton of money on the chance. Now that such time has passed it might be too late to simply change it without making the situation worse. At least the new skins would provide some sort of softening for all those who spent money on the chance. “Oh I spent a lot on a chance and didn’t get any or only got 1. But now there are more cool skins, and I can trade them for the ones I wanted.” Might simply work out better than “Oh I spent a ton, and now they make them directly able to buy… great…”

Agree on the H&R block thing 1000% lol..

I understand some people dislike the luck based. And thats fine, I don’t think any less of them or think they have no right to complain. But I DO get nice things, almost every time I get more for my gems than I could have by directly buying the items. And now there is a chance to get a really cool skin as well. So long as they continue to drop several items at once, I don’t have a problem with this. I support the game, probably too much… But when I spend on it, it doesn’t necessarily mean that I agree with everything in game. It simply means I appreciate the game as a whole enough to invest in its future.

But also instead of complaining without any constructive feedback, like some do in forums I posted this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Fused-Weapon-Skins-meet-Frozen-Weapon-Skins/first#post1724272

Seriously? Why would you reward Anet’s bad behavior and throw away money like that?

Because I can ^^ And I enjoy all the things I get from chests. Also it is not a waste if I enjoy the rewards I get, if I am not happy with the rewards I can only blame myself for buying them.

I couldn’t agree more. I’d rather have character which ALWAYS get the items which can be used by this character. So no more perfect heavy armor for thief, or dagger for guardian. And getting a gear above your current level? Why not. Of course limited to few levels above your current level to avoid getting exotics to 1 lvl characters.

There actually is something like this in some games. But it is bound to dungeons only. You do the dungeon and a chest drops and you open it to receive a piece of special gear specifically for your class.

But the others are right, you do make plenty leveling up to get decent gear. Once you get 80 you make even more and can buy/make your own gear. The gear you sell that doesn’t fit/work for you, is going to help someone else. The more players who sell the gear the cheaper they become, or they reach a nice steady price.

You do get 1 guaranteed rare now from events per account per day. As well as the regular chest which runs on RNG. If you have BL salvage or Master salvage kits you can use them. There is a decent chance you will get at least 1 ecto or more from a rare (not guaranteed but good chance/better with BL). That right there is 28s’ish. If you take a look at armor on TP it is generally 24s+, weapons are 28s+. So not a bad deal, especially if you get 3 ectos and mats.

i love that people knew BEFORE this game was released that all the stuff on the gem shop was gonna be cosmetic. Lo and behold, it all is! The description in the update notes says “Rare chance” and people still try 200 times and then whine incessantly when they don’t hit the jackpot. I for one am superstoked that they are account bound so that people aren’t tempted to gamble to sell them for a lot of money. I think this is a better system to protect people with tendencies toward gambling addiction that can’t help themselves.

I would much rather be able to choose the weapon skin I want, rather than waste all my money gambling for it. There are 16 available weapons. What if I only want one of them?

Leave them account bound, Just let me choose the one I want.

You get to choose, you get a ticket and purchase the skin you want.

if your lucky and spend months worth of subscription fees

Will do, but next month. this month is bills :P

Black Lion Keys were on sale all day on Saturday, March 23rd for 100 gems each, or 5 for 360 gems. It’s unfortunate that you missed it, and I do hope that you’ll still keep your eye out for sales that might interest you in the future. In order to offer considerable discounts on sales such as this one, we must limit them, whether by time or quantity.

I do, however, want to thank you for playing the game and for taking the time to follow sales in the Gem Store.

WHO ARE YOU? Your name even starts with J and your lastname with S! Dang!

hehe thanks for the advice.

I was reading all the profession descriptions and I was looking at either thief or necromancer as I think either of those would suit my play style.

Welcome to the game.

You’ve got five character slots, so you can play both thief and necromancer a bit before deciding which you prefer (if any). Just bear in mind you’ve got no utility skills, elite skills, or traits to play with until you get some experience under your belt, so the early levels are kind of bare-bones.

But you can head to sPVP and see all your traits skills etc. Although that can confuse you, or at least it did me lol.

Since NCSOFT is based in Korea and they have wholly owned subsidiaries abroad like ArenaNet or NC Japan I think that satisfies the definition of multinational corporation.

Actually i think NCsoft sold all shares and made a new company based here in the US to handle US/EU company related things. Not sure the whole story though, but they definitely still are everywhere.

They sold off NC Interactive to a new entity, NC West Holdings, that NCSOFT also own in totality. They folded local control of Carbine and ArenaNet under it as well. This formalizes a paper entity called NC West that they created back when they virtually dismantled NC Europe and NC Austin and moved them to Seattle a few years back. The idea is to have a unified strategy to market their games outside of Asia as well as develop games in the west that would also be popular in Asia.

That’s curious. We and Asia tend to play games much differently. Will be interesting to see if that changes anything, although it may change very little I suppose. I wondered because the reports were very vague and didn’t include much ideas or input.

1. Will a character in full Exotics be at a disadvantage to a player decked out head to toe in Ascended gear in WvWvW?

That depends, are they an Engineer, Necromancer, or Ranger? If so why are you in WvW? RUN! RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK!

Ahem.

The bigger question is why on earth are you attempting to solo-take someone in WvW?

Necromancers are pretty good in WvWvW. They’ve got a button that makes conditions go everywhere, they’ve got an entire weapon’s worth of high-range, good width area of effect attacks, they’ve got a school of spells which can put some significant hurt on anyone dumb enough to stand in them, and one of the best scaling AOE heals in the game.

I’m sure Engis and Rangers have nice things too. I wonder if dropping a Thumper on a ram and using the overcharge would be hilarious enough to validate speccing into it?

Also solo roamers are pretty useful. I can cap unupgraded camps and everything lower on my own. Don’t need to roll ikittenerg for that, but I do need to kill enemy roamers and counter-roamers.

2. I don’t recall actually saying Ascended gear was needed to complete content; I said that your character used to feel ‘complete’ when you had full Exotic gear, and now it doesn’t feel complete because Ascended. I don’t think this is an MMO thing, but a general hobby thing; alts are projects which I like to complete, and the standing means by which to get Ascended gear feels like a cheap kitten-block to finishing that project. I hope we can at the very least agree on that.

Hmmm, sort of. I’ve rarely had alts which I’ve felt the desire to polish up to “full spec”. I think the last one was my cleric in EverQuest because he was more in demand than a ranger. Also because I could read Game of Thrones books and heal at the same time.

Really, the only thing really in my way when it comes to getting my alts up to snuff is laurels choking amulets and those guild thingos. Get rid of the timegate and I’m happy; laurels should just be throttling fun toys.

My alts leech off my 2 mains, I feel like I should tax them.. but that would only hurt me in the end. Luckily they bring in their own wealth via gathering, all the while getting pummeled by level 5’s. :P

Saying 1100 hours in a little over 2 months when you have actually played 1050 hours in 3 months is the difference between playing 11 hours and day and playing 17 hours a day, every day.

Not only are you lying about your figures on the very first line of your thread, it also discredits your post – the very first response is about how long you’ve been playing for.

In any case, I stopped playing Gw2 a long time ago just popping in to see the patch notes and read more fail.

More weapon skills in chests, yay. More nerfs, yay. Just thought I’d respond to your thread, it will help your cause if you tighten your lexis up.

Good luck in future endeavors, maybe I’ll catch you in ESO but for now I’m back to the amazingness that is EoC Runescape

It was actually still 2 months about a week ago. I just stated what it said at the time. I truly do stay logged in around 12 hours a day. As sad as that is to admit.. I wasn’t lying, purely going off what it had said some time ago. Also it seems more like people are trying harder to derail the thread and discount me rather than simply listen to what was said. or better yet, actually join the discussion. But this is what I have come to expect in forums.

oh kitten just make the rare and all derivatives from the said rare account bound already. There! No more farming for ecto to sell, no more selling rares on TP, only farm for own use or for own farming to legendary. Removes the bots from the equation and reduces populations attending these events? Done? Done.

Ya, who needs trading in an online multiplayer RPG anyway? Right fellas!?

You can trade the rares from the multitude of other sources (fractals, dungeons, open world, guild missions, etc) which do not encounter the overflow problem. Removing ONE source of rares will not break the economy and will remove the cause of unhappiness of a lot of people. Why not?

-edit- a word which actually did not default to kitten?! omg.

there trying to make it so you only do the events some time’s…. not drive people away completely ((As every one runs back into the dungeons))

I feel like I was doing this too, just spamming the “big events”. Luckily I’m slowly breaking out of that lol and experiencing more of the content. I think it is much easier to enjoy the other content once you have mostly the things you want. When your starting off maybe the whole spam boss chests feels like a good route for some people.

Vayne.8563, I am sure Anet will do what it wants, just as it has. Just like recent patches, some love them, others lament them. Some will see this game as being worth a monthly fee or w/e. People would still pay to play this. After all, people played WoW for years, didn’t they? Many of those people still do. My point is that is in the TOS. They may, or may not implement, but if they did not intend to, why is it in the agreement? They are keeping all options on the table, which means that someday they may want to. Also, as my other point, if you refuse to play they may just delete your account that you spent hours/days/months/years on. Personally I hope this is not implemented, but only time well tell. I just felt that this deserved to have some attention as many readily click the “I agree” button and move on.

I was going to edit my post to say pretty much this as well. This is exactly why i believe it was added, to cover bases they have ideas for in the future. I doubt its as simple as “soon we will start stealing peoples gems and closing accounts for fun just because they clicked (Accept)”

Companies like NCsoft often have a single user agreement across ALL their products. It simplifies things for them. It doesn’t mean that this product will change.

Ask yourself this…if Guild Wars 2 suddenly went pay to play, how many people would still be here? Even I’d leave. Not because I don’t like the game, but because it would be a betrayal of trust I couldn’t live with. The five guys left paying a monthly fee wouldn’t keep the game alive.

I agree it makes sense to have a legal agreement company wide to simplify things. Somewhere inside I feel like Arenanet could be huge on its own, but we won’t go there :P

Anet could have been huge on it’s own, I agree, but they didn’t have the money to develop Guild Wars 1. That’s why they went to NCsoft in the first place. A lot of people don’t realize that NCsoft bought Anet before Guild Wars 1 launched. They’ve been around all along.

Without those funds, Anet couldn’t have released the first games and we wouldn’t have Guild Wars 2 at all.

It makes me wonder what would have been different if they had ^^

Disclaimer: Posting Disclaimer doesn’t make your viewpoint any less unbiased, passive aggressive or any less of a flame bait / troll thread.

You claim to be able to agree to disagree but can’t break free of the same preconceptions that you bash others for.

Disclaimer: I didn’t out right call you a hypocrite for this but it’s heavily implied.

As for “Serving your country” not making you a passive aggressive person, yeah sure. I guess you can’t be passive aggressive with your voice and bendover to commands when your life is on the line. The two arent even remotely the same. It has nothing to do with intelligent discourse. The manner in which you are trying to go about getting this discourse is several logical fallacies unto itself.

You want intelligent discourse, go read what you wrote. The tone and manner in which it is posted and ask yourself … Does this sound like a good premise for discussion or am i just trying to stroke my own ego and look down on others whilst playing on the emotions of others to ride my bandwagon.

Yeah intelligent discourse my foot.

You have yet to explain which part where I bash others. Still waiting for an intelligent response that isn’t an attack.

Have you at all read your threads title ?

I guess that reading comprehension you say im lacking was lost on both of us.

You have come into this thread hoisting yourself on a soapbox setting yourself apart from the community while simultaneously labeling those who don’t share your point of view.

You instantly start off with an ad-hominem right there. Not a good way to go about inciting “intelligent discussion”.

Then you further prove this by having the notion to put a “Disclaimer” on your post as if to say, hey i know im being offensive to you all but i honestly dont care because my opinions are better than yours.

Yeah real good man, real good.

Glad you served our country and all, but you totally are trampling on the very foundation of this country freedom of speech and expression.

You have completely derailed the discussion that was happening because of said post. So in fact, you have proved my point. I at no point said i was better. The title implied a discussion on those who are a bit shortsighted on the games development. It brought relevant and intellectual discussion posts until you decided to flame the person who created the thread. I’m unsure of your reasoning or logic in doing this but you have done nothing but prove that people would rather flame others than have constructive things to say. This post was specifically to discuss what I felt, the disclaimer was simply to avoid people saying that this was how I want the game to be etc. At no point EVER did I say people cannot speak up or complain, I fail to see where you are getting this. But I can attempt to clarify once again JUST for you and maybe others who just didn’t get it:

This thread is to ask people to not troll, flame, harass others who had ideas or complaints. And for those who do complain to take a moment and see the entire picture before just posting a complaint that is not followed by a constructive suggestion. That is the entire point of this thread, and others have gone with the theme. The only person bashing anyone here is you, not that I mind, I’m a big boy and can take it. But seriously you have done nothing but derail some very good suggestions and discussions, which again, was the point of this thread. I’m very sorry if you or others for some reason thought I was somehow saying “I’m better than you, do things my way”. Clearly that wasn’t my intention. Now I don’t wish to sit here and have this pointless argument with you since clearly your headed somewhere with what YOU think my thread is about, and that road I’m not going to follow. I encourage others to continue with the interesting and enlightening discussion as was the purpose of this thread.

You assume anger and want to patronize players for voicing their concerns, frustration and complaints. Good guy. Glad to see that you can peer into the text and instantly jump to anger as a conclusion as opposed to passion for the game.

Kinda what i expected though, the same psuedo-passive aggressive nonsense. Oh guys stop whinning they are trying. Yeah we know, and when they make missteps we(the players) are going to let them know it otherwise they will assume silence means everything is fine.

It’s better to let you voice be heard than silenced. So kindly OP stop trying to force your ideals on others, your aren’t a saint. Your post is a passive aggressive flame and troll bait. If people are going to voice their complaints and you disagree, do so constructively something you’ve failed miserably at when creating this topic.

I’ll just clear this up for you. At no point did I assume anything or tell people not to express their concerns please try reading as others have done. As far as the passive aggressive remarks I am a veteran who killed and protected people for my country. I am by far the least passive aggressive person you will find. It is called intelligent conversation and reasoning. if you care to reply next time try putting thought and reading comprehension into it.

I haven’t complained about anyone voicing concerns you seem to be the sole person stating as such. I’ll leave you with your snarky comments to be handled by someone else who has actually read and comprehended my purpose of this thread. Which again was in no way to deter people from voicing concerns.

Disclaimer:This thread is not directed towards all players in Guild Wars 2, nor is it in any way a flame thread against others.

Now I’m by no means an expert at any part of Guild Wars 2, nor do I think I’m better than anyone else.

When a patch comes and something is perhaps taken away, most often I see people complain that what they liked is gone. But rarely do I see those same people suggest what to fill in the gaps with that would be more beneficial than what we had.

I know it is simply because these and events like these offer loot, but I feel the community needs to look at the game as a whole.

So I would just like to say in closing, everyone has a right to an opinion. But there is so much to look at to truly grasp the size and magnificence of this game. It is not perfect, nor is anyone here, but it strives hard to be just the way we want it. Not as individuals but as a community.

Truly understand constructive feedback, and break free of being the shortsighted observer. become the player that others can respect even if they disagree with your opinions and ideas.

Ok might have figured it out. I think I’m getting the message the person invited should get. This makes it seem like I cannot invite more, whereas actually it is because this person has too many guilds already. Sigh.. silly wording, can we get our own message that tells us “they” are maxxed not that “we” are lol

Invited others just fine, sorry for the clutter.

Vayne, I want to point out something that you posted… “This game doesn’t have a monthly fee. Go play another game for a while. Get outside and get some exercise and fresh air. It’s not like you have to buy the game again to see what’s new in a couple of months.”

Did you read the TOS that came bundled with this recent content addition? If you accepted it, you said that you agree to it and that you awknowledge that they have the ability to bill you as they see fit. Specifically mentioned as an example are, “numbers of hours, days, or months.” You do not want to pay? They can terminate your account. I would not worry about this though. There were things that worried me even more included in the TOS such as handling of refunds and credit ratings. I feel it is very foreboding to the future…

While I agree that after reading the lengthy User Agreement I can say it does have some scary terms and conditions in it. However it is NCsoft, not Arenanet who enforced these changes and legal rules. Arenanet is who we look to for game improvements and feedback. NCsoft is merely the parent company who handles the legal end and some monetary aspects. When addressing issues with User Agreements and other aspects that hold the NCSOFT title that is who you are referring to. But again, I totally can understand where you are coming from “removal of gems without reason”, some pretty scary things indeed.

i love that people knew BEFORE this game was released that all the stuff on the gem shop was gonna be cosmetic.

A couple days ago I would have been all defensive saying you all are over reacting but I am ultra mega-ly peeved at the latest ranger nerf to qz (billed as a buff but actually a double nerf) so I will grab my pitchfork and stand with you all

I understand your frustration. My thief just started using haste and before I really got to get comfortable with it in PvE it was dropped to 50% ^^; Yes I was a little annoyed with the change but I completely understand that it can be used improperly in WvW etc on certain classes. Balance is always a difficult thing to work on, it will most likely never be perfect. But this is a step they believe will help. That doesn’t mean however that it can never change. Perhaps in the future classes will change to allow for this mechanic to be changed back or improved in some way.

I also want to mention that I have a personal guild which i use for bank space and dropping banners for players. I also use it for events for my server. I every so often toss in some gold to gain influence and I am the only person in it. I think with the new bounty’s it is very much possible for an active group of 5 people to experience the missions and gain influence. Even if it is just training, you are getting experience in how to run these missions. Yes it will take you longer than large guilds to access the deeper missions, but it is very much possible. A pic of my personal guild which I funded with extra gold over a month or so is below. As you can see in a little over a months time a single person is able to at very least open training missions. I spent no real cash on gold, this was solely from farming/playing the game. I simply tossed in small amounts over time. The rest of my gold I waste on other things :P

Disclaimer:This thread is not directed towards all players in Guild Wars 2, nor is it in any way a flame thread against others. The opinions herein are my own and reflect my personal beliefs and views.

Have you tried finishing the living story?
Have you tried the new content changes?
Have you found the perfect Guild or Guilds for you?
Have you made friends to occupy your time in between what you do everyday?

Just some questions to ask yourself while your farming the same 4-5+ events over and over.

Answering your questions in order.

Yes, whats been released is done.
Nope, been locked out of it thanks to ludicrous standards. (Please explain what you have been locked out of)
Been running with the same guild for ages now, thanks for the concern sorry it’s not upto your standards of being a 500man faceless organization.(At no time did I say you needed a 500 person guild)
Made friends just fine, thanks for assuming we are all anti-social because we voice complaints based on the gating of content when the manifesto said the content would be available to even smaller guilds.(There were no assumptions made, simply these questions are for yourself. They are not to appease my style of gaming, nor do I think anyone should tell others how to play)

The whole lot of your post assumes people just sit at events, not everyone is like that. Meanwhile no one should be forced to play the way we currently are being. You want to progress, Farm Fractals or CoF p1. That’s it. End of story. That’s pathetic and goes against Anets whole design choice. They want us to do these events but then put in restrictions. DR + Chest Limitations = Complete horsecrap. They seriously need to remove these foolish limitations or significantly revamp the Open World.

I feel like you skimmed the thread and responded. While you are allowed your opinion it is clear that you are the one making some pretty vague assumptions. I replied selectively to your points, as you can see in my thread in no way was I assuming anything about anyone. The questions I posted were something of a personal nature that players can ask themselves to see where they are in the game and evaluate how they play. The answer is purely personal and is for no one else to judge. they just added some small part to guilds to build influence and help them achieve enough to further there missions. This is a step not their entire answer to the problem at hand. They realize it is not ideal for all and they are working on trying to make it so it is. Please before responding read carefully and don’t make assumptions based on your anger at the game or forums.

I’ve only been around a little over 2 months now, about 1100 hours logged so far.

That is an average of 15-18 hours a day (assuming 60-70 days). Do you not have work/school or anything else you do in the day besides sleep?

I get that alot :P I do online classes for college. I’m a veteran working on a degree so i can start a career and yes I do have a family :P I take time away from game to work on assignments, go out etc. So am I playing 15 hours a day? No, more like I’m logged in waiting for an event to shout (an npc to say the event started) doing my homework etc between when it is up or my guild needs me. Kinda wish we had a ping or somethen when people need you, but I guess the whisper one is ok. Thats not to say I never actually do play 12+ hours as I have actually done this several times :P And you can eat while playing, well not so much chicken wings.. tried that, not cool. And no I’m not some 500 pound guy in a basement :P GW2 is something I do to relax, so I do it pretty often and spend a lot on the game for fun ^^ Oh and just checked, technically it says (3) months now heh so I can hide my shame a little bit and say my average “now” is around 11 :P Though sometimes I am logged in when my guild members log in, I’m there when they log out and sleep, and still there when they wake up lol.

This game is still under 1 years old
Much of the development is ongoing and does not rest
You have a great team who actually speaks to the community on a regular basis
You DO have a great community in game

These are all valid points, but not unheard of. But it is also like this;

When people complained months ago – “This game is still just 3 months old! Relax.”
Ok, that’s fair. I can relax as soon as I know my concern is seen. But even when I report a crystal clear bug or create a topic which goes on for a few pages the “team” never jumps in to acknowledge that this is an issue or that this is something they will consider. It is exactly as you say – They speak TO the community, but never with us. And I believe that is a major reason while you see people being so “loud”. They really just want to be heard. And this is also why the great community is in game. At the forum we are all just trying to be heard.

So do you think we should have more GM/CM’s in game to do this? I know in some MMO’s CM’s often make events in game and talk to people in game (when they can). The problem is when someone sees a CM is in game you have 100,000 people spam whispering them. The point of the forums was for all players to communicate with the dev team, but sadly i can say that in a 300+ guild I only know about 5 people who ever check the forums. Mostly because it is filled with qq and harassment.

Maybe the CM’s or devs can make a date to come to servers or host live streams discussing ONE topic. That way they don’t get spammed with tons of random requests. They could do the streaming with chat and have players talk there or do both, talk in game and answer on the stream. Though again that is a lot of work as we would be taking time away from projects everyone is working on. But maybe with more CM’s relaying information from in game, devs/designers getting info from them and forums, we can have a more clear picture of what the community actually wants.

Now these are all suggestions, so i don’t want us to get locked because it isn’t a discussion anymore lol. But how long do you think before we can officially say Guild Wars 2 is no longer new? And what do you think about CM’s in game talking to people?

My wife plays on her laptop from 2010. When shes on PC it is a Dell dual core, 32 bit, 3gb machine with a low end graphics card that cost around $60. It is from 2005. She plays the game fine on both machines. I’m the only person in the house with a gaming computer.

Take Maw for instance. They made the timer longer,

The change to maw timer is ridiculous considering the restrictions on chests they also added. Whats the point?

Like I said, many people do 4 events on multiple characters for rares and log off. The other day I wandered around and ended up in some pirate event I had no idea what was going on but I helped and got to see a small story. Now I’d never find these little works of story if I just did the dragon chests and hoped to get rich. There is so much more out there, and yes it may not get you a guaranteed rare. But it can reward you in other ways, and I believe understanding that a non chest event can be rewarding is part of the problem. Everything shouldn’t be about money, developers and designers spent years making this game. Why short change it by doing 1% of the content and complaining of boredom on forums? I realize people are impatient at times, we all are, be at some point we need to realize it isn’t all about us. And it is definitely not all about doing 5 events 300 times a day for some gold.

But a dark outlook and a negative attitude doesn’t help the community or the game developers make it any better.

Praising failure doesn’t help them make it any better either. What do you suggest?

I suggest that when something is taken away that you disagree with to give your opinion on what could be better placed in game to replace it. If you truly believe that it didn’t deserve to be taken away or changed then state that as well. I’m not simply complaining that people should just be OK with every change, or follow blindly. I’m simply saying that people need to look at long term and see what can benefit everyone. And that people give ideas and feedback that is more than just destructive criticism or turn threads into 4 walls of arguments against each other. Because strife among one another gets us no where, and degrading the people you ask change from does nothing to help as well.

One chief complaint i do have is that “some” players find ways to circumvent the game and destroy things others do or use which is not meant in such a way. These players are the reason for the removal and change that so many dislike. They and they alone can be blamed for the need to program a change that affects everyone negatively, not just them. But blaming isn’t going to fix it, working towards a fix or replacement idea will. Or at least it is a start.

Playing the game for 46 days (or roughly 1100/24) is not the same as being here the entire time. You talk about ‘wait and see’ when we have.

Sorry to say, the game keeps getting worse. You just need to get out of the honeymoon phase and realize it.

But I’ve spent over 10 years in MMO’s watching them change. Sometimes better sometimes worse. But a dark outlook and a negative attitude doesn’t help the community or the game developers make it any better.

I spent a little time in game grabbing some quick screenshots. See if any of these are better for you, this is just a small sample of course.
