30 Minutes to go, banners will be going up on the hour along with food trays and event boxes. 2 Boxes will be down for the first hour of the event.

I will be putting up 5 trays of food every hour, on the hour till the event closes. Banners will be up as well. 1 Event box of fun will be up every hour for 4 hours. Event will end at 9PM est.

Event should start 5PM EST, if I did my math right that’s 2PM Server Time. I will open food trays and banners in Queensdale at the Fields Waypoint. There will be about 5 different types of food, lots of buffs including running 20sec buff. Please keep in mind that the trays only last 5 minutes, so get em while they are hot I have quite a few to use throughout the event days, but I am not the Donald Trump of GW2. So try to get them when announced. I welcome others to host events as well during to keep the festivities going, things like jumping puzzles and other ways to earn prizes. I’ll be doing my events, but everyone is free to just stop by and join, host their own contests, and have fun

The problem isn’t the slowness of the event changes. You need to let the entire player base have a chance to experience each part of the living story. Some people play every day, some a few times a week, some maybe only once a week. You need to think about all of them. A month is plenty of time for all those types to see the story. The improvement that could be made is to simply add some more “motion” to the story. It seems a bit stale or dead. Add some reoccurring events that follow the paths of the living story, not just random npc’s placed about and signs. Its a great idea, just needs a little polishing to help EVERYONE enjoy it the best they can.

I use Fraps, I have a licensed copy so its full length unfortunately not free. However Enjin app has a video recorder. I think there are other free ones, or ones that just force you to have their logo for free.

I just bought Fraps, $37 isn’t bad for a forever license. Enjin wasn’t really what I was looking for and all the “free” options I looked at either weren’t really “free” or crippled in some annoying way.

heh yea. The enjin app is really cool with features, but fraps is great. Only downfall is that it has 0 compression so it takes a ton of space. I have like 2tb so no biggy but for some it kinda sucks. Glad others are helping get statistics.

Buy a ton of boxes with karma. Use every Karma buff possible before opening the dropped karma items. Open karma items, and there’s a good chance you get a huge chunk of karma back, sometimes more than you spent. Then do as you wish. My choice was to buy more chests lol and had fun, was like Christmas.

I just want to see how much and which quality your loot has when you are not affected by the event DR.

It could be that you are getting less (quality) loot due to your active event DR. If that is the case, you have possibly more and better quality loot, if you don’t have the event DR active.
That would mean, I am getting as much loot as you, but with no DR active while you have it active (which in my opinion logically would decrease the loot too).

Makes sense. I believe the most recent one I made has no dr, I’m uploading in better quality so people can actually see the loot. Keep in mind fraps lags me a bit lol so my actual killing may not be as good as it could be. You might notice that I’m almost 100% sure not 1 of the vets dropped an item. Will take me a while to upload though.

I can confirm today on the shelter way point in orr, a loot chest dropped only 2 porous bones. I accidentally grabbed it before realizing I should have took a pic or videoed it. But watched it, w.o any other loot around.

You want me to just run around and do the events a few times? I could do that, so that its consistent. I’m just trying to give unbiased info the best i can heh.

By submitting guess reports your clogging up the employees times who are looking to ban actual RMT. Your wasting resources that could be used elsewhere. Also, too many wrongful reports and you may get banned yourself, as it states on the tos. Its on each person to decide, just remember to factor in everything is all.

I know someone who was temp banned because they gave a guild member gold for the title. They had to wait days to sort it out. Personally I posted once on forums about an idea I had, unfortunately i posted in 4 places. Thinking 4 was not soo spammy and that they were all relevant forum pages. Without blinking I was permabanned from forums because the 4 simultaneous posts ranked up permaban points. I explained the situation and it was sorted out, but look at what happens to people. Whos to say you don’t get someone banned by accident and they get so annoyed they stop playing? Your unintentionally hurting the game and population. I’m definitely not for RMT, botting, or hacking, but you need to have a clear picture when causing undo stress on players and employees. From a business standpoint your clogging up hours of work for people who have better things to do than follow shadows. I’m not against reporting, I’m just saying make sure you know. In the case I stated above where a guy appeared at every node ahead of me, yea, that’s not normal.

I watched this one. And I thought the loot seemed to be ok.
Then I looked at your reward for the event (gold medal; ~ 5000 xp; 113 karma; 56 c) and that indicates you have DR active for farming events in Orr?
Does that also affect your loot?

My loot is sometimes quite similar, but I have NO active DR showing. I got full reward (gold medal; ~17k xp; 378 karma; 1s xx c), but similar loot?

So my question is: If I have event DR active, does that also affect how much loot I get and which quality?

That’s what I’m not sure about really. That’s why I posted unbiased videos. I need to make more to see, but sometimes there’s other variables, usually my fault lol like not hitting my aoe, or thinking im clicking a skill when I’m not. I’m trying to be consistent tho, but that’s why I haven’t made another vid yet, because it wasn’t a normal run. Someone above said somethen about unid. dye nerf? Unless I read wrong, i actually get almost 1 of those per run lately, which for me is different. I’ll keep trying to upload average vids, because when i have guild buffs, banners, boosts etc, its not a consistent grinding situation. I’m trying to stick with what I normally roll with.

On the topic of scaling, it’s worth pointing out food boosts don’t get downscaled, but lower-level foods have lower-level stat values.

What about trays? Wiki says users buff is scaled to level? Just curious.

I wanted to show some players just “some” of the items for the event. Keep in mind there are more, account bound, stored in my own bank etc. Again, I’ll keep updating the list as I gather more

My game loads character swaps in 3-5 seconds. Although I usually take a second to look around, or sometimes get agro by mobs which i kill.

Didn’t post todays but almost 1 yellow per event in orr. More Unidentified dyes than normal acrossed all characters. Not that I’m complaining, just noticed.

Also I’m maybe 75% sure that a loot chests dropped junk. But I can’t say for sure. Overall good day as usual.

I wonder if the speed at which you’re looting affects the drops. Myself, as a necro, range/AOE is my chosen means of imposing damage. While I have tons of life (31000+ at level 80), I’m pretty squishy and don’t usually get right in the mob so I typically collect the drops after the whole mob is down, not as soon as they drop. I wonder if the chance of good drops diminishes slowly the longer they lay on the ground. I also noticed that for most of the videos you were typically under 1/2 life. I wonder if this perceived risk perhaps affects returns. Something like the more danger you’re in the more likely you are to have good drops. I know this stuff is really reaching, but we’re typically at a loss to really explain how this stuff works since ANet is very closed mouth about the details. You’d think it was a CIA secret!!!

Hehe yes the CIA secretness :P Also, the 1/2 life is do to my non caring about “skill” and more about just spamming kills lol I’m probably a terrible example of a warrior, but this was just a few vids of the daily stuff i do. I will make some more sooner or later, but again I seem to notice far more Unid. Dyes lately for some reason. That about it so far, but maybe very observant people can gather more info than I from the vids. I prefer vids because they are unbiased, you can see “somewhat clearly-sorry for the LQ” exactly whats dropping and how its gotten.

Maybe Anet can clarify some part of this.

Some nodes like omnomberries, ancient tree saplings, or even mithril, don’t need to be rich to be farmed by alts. When players are at a event spot waiting for it to spawn, whos to say they don’t in a quick hurry log to gather and quickly log back to watch the event.

I’ve seen this, but keep in mind some people have alts at nodes to gather more efficiently. So if you see different characters at the same node thats probably it. On the other hand I’ve seen myself a character flash in front of a node, flash at the next node I see, then the next.. Now THAT is a bit obvious. But again like I said, some of these may just be players logging into an alt trying to gather mats for a craft and simply logging back to their main to farm, grind, quest w.e.

When I first started was close to the winter event. My first good drop in game was the Endless tonic, that netted me 20g ish. At the time I was still new and didn’t understand how much 20g was game wise. People said unidentified dyes could open into dyes worth tons of gold. So I bet you can’t guess where 15 g went…. The other 5 I used on a full gear set, every slot at the time. Since then thankfully I have become wiser, and have my nice warrior set and decent Thief set skinned with the krytan skin. If I could go back and slap the kitten out of myself, I surely would. And I would have spent that 20g on 80 gear, full runes, and probably enough crafting to get me at least 10 or 20 levels :P

Thanks for your response. One reason I thought of this was because I was seeing a lot of 80’s scaled down in other parts of Orr that are 70ish. And if the MF scaling is strong, or heaven forbid over-calculated, it could hurt drops for average players.

Another reason I was wondering if people do this in lowbie areas is because of the ease of kills. At 80 with any decent gear set, you can run thru mobs in 20-50 areas pretty easy. Certain items that are rare drops in those areas when stacked can make some good money. So if people are doing that and the system is capping their MF gear or food, that could be quite a pain. One thing I seen on wiki is that trays of food such as Omnomberry Bar Trays, seem to give the users the effect based on their level. Another reason that led me to question the scaling. Thx again, and hope maybe we can get a shiny red response

Oh and dungeons that scale you down. Dungeon mob drops etc.

I’ve read and contributed to some of the threads pertaining to MF, the “DR bug” etc. And I’ve seen many people with various problems, and some with seemingly good luck. Although I don’t feel as though my drops are too bad as I grind for hours a day I had question I hoped Arenanet or the community could answer.

Before the question, just what I noticed. I seen that everyone says boost up your MF for great gear, drops, etc. So I said what the heck, why not try. So I full out deck my warrior in MF gear head to toe, earing to neck. Oh but that can’t be enough, so I wait for the guild buff, plop down a guild banner, a boost, food, and yep.. another boost lol. So I’m sitting at well over 150MF and here goes..

I grind in my usual spots, some mean ol charr areas, try some lowbie areas. I went to 40/50/60/70 zones. After about 4 hours I’m thinking “Did I even equip my gear?” So I look and yep, the MF is on. What I notice is, and please understand this could be 100% RNG or randomness, but NO increase in dropped rarity. If anything it just became more of a pain in the kitten because I don’t have my exotic berserker stats.

So ok, something dawns on me. All my gear is level capped.. My stats and everything else is level capped. So I get the idea to go back to orr, my new home away from home. And I find after 3 hours that I seem to be getting really decent drops. A slight noticeable increase from normal. Again, keep in mind this could be random luck.

So my question is:
When I’m scaled down, does my MF scale down as well? And if so how can we tell how much since we cannot see it in our stats? Please forgive me if this discussion has been stated before, I’ve been playing only about 505 hours, 44 days. If we can get a clear answer on this it “may” help people struggling with bad luck, or whatever they feel is hindering them.

I will say that if you are under level 80, the loot you receive probably won’t be making you a ton every day. So when that rare does come on your level 50 and it only nets you 20s, be understanding that its due to its level. And since the leveling in GW2 imo is fairly simple and quick, most don’t want to spend a lot on low level rares. So once you hit 80, get out there and sell those drops and mats

I agree. I think veterans need a 100% chance to drop “something”. Doesn’t have to be an exotic, just something. And champions at very least a Masterwork guarantee. As for maw, I’m ok with greens or a rare. But Claw of Jormag and the other dragons, they should at least drop 1 rare item 100%. The rest is ok, but at least make the hour or so it takes for some of them be worth it… Otherwise your going to have a server sized zerg at Maw.

However, it is pertinent to the topic for me, as I have never seen such strange loot behavior.

I wasn’t proving my luck, I just posted the video of a typical grind. There may be helpful info in the video, its unbiased and just shows the event. I do notice veterans a lot of the time can drop nothing, which is disappointing. But this video reflects my typical day every day. But may have relevant stuff to see. Like I said just posting to show what happens when I grind.

This is one of the brilliant features implemented by Anet to solve the player playing with other players problem you find in other MMO’s. Non-competitive quests and resource nodes are other features that address the same problem. In other MMO’s players of your own faction can be your worst enemy. And, adding more players to a zone there is like adding more rats to a cage. Eventually, they begin eating each other.

Anet, solved the problem of players successfully playing with other players through thoughtful game design. What you see as a problem I see as a solution.

Exactly my thoughts. Until Nov 15th this game was the best game out there in terms of player equality and gameplay choices. Now however FoTM seems to be the only way to get any loot drops of any kind. Until the loot is fixed so that it is indeed equal (ie as soon as they finally learn from history and remove DR) then it will return to being an equal affair.

It is just as important to games as it is in any social structure to have equality in everything. Having a longer more dramatic grind for those who actually have lives and can’t be online constantly is not equality in my opinion sorry and demanding that more be done to further segregate players by their play styles due to their real life circumstances doesn’t help matters.

Unless you sit there and kill the same kind of mob in the same kind of area for over 30 minutes DR should not even kick in. It’s not hard to make profit without farming you know.

You described me lol.. But I sit in the same area killing the same zombies for hours, cause I want mats not so much yellows and gear drops. I don’t notice any DR, but its hard to count the mobs etc when they come in zergs.. I like the rarity of the “rares” cause then its like woo 30s lol. For the most part though I only make money off mats which is about 50-75s per the 6 minute event. I DO notice decreased xp from the event over a few hours though. But meh.. I’m already level 185…

PS. The guy who farms for 6 hours a day and makes a kitten ton of coin, yea, he IS doing better than the guy who isn’t. This is a team game, everything about it is about working together. You don’t even get to win your own story, so don’t expect to be some awesome famous guy with X weapon, X title, X kills. Cause truly people who don’t work well with others, don’t play well in GW2. And those people are the ones getting “less”.

The asura animations as a whole are fantastic. It always gives me a case of the giggles when I come to sudden stop and almost faceplant due to my weapon weight, or watch my asura flail her arms wildly as she jumps through the air.
