Most of this thread is just he said/she said. There’s only about 1 page of actual evidence from people who farm regularly

There goes my thoughts that you were level-headed too.
There is tons of information spanning more than “about 1 page” – including ones with info on what gear they have on (MF on or off), some with dates of farming, some with screenshots to reinforces legitimacy of the data they give.

Intelligent people are more level headed about even the most serious of things. An open and clear mind allows for clear and precise thought. The players in the forums start off with anger, lead into rants, and degrade others.

Lets say you’re asked to relay information on the quality of weapons being issued to troops. When you bring that information back to your commander…would you expect him/her to tell you you’re delusional and that you’re trying to fabricate some conspiracy?

It’s not a level-headed way of responding after a request. So as much as you think the players that post in this forum aren’t thinking first, the devs seem to be in that same boat. Maybe not responding with anger and rants, but instead with ignorance while at the same time degrading people’s effort for collection of data.

There is no degradation of effort in the posts. I simply am stating that “I did X with X and got X” is not proof. If true, yes it can be helpful but how can that be proven? In my mind it is just as constructive as the posts with pics/videos, but in the end its about provable information. When Arenanet looks through these they will most likely compile data they can visually see, as the saying goes “seeing is believing”. That’s not to negate the information people post, but as I said as far as visual evidence, evidence that is unbiased and “in your face” type of evidence, this is most likely what they will focus on. I do not discourage people from posting, but truly if you delete the hate threads, the threads where a very small data collection was done, then truly there is very little they can use.

On a side note, when I traveled into Iraq I was wearing armor from Vietnam which cannot stop anything larger than a pistol. I mentioned that to my commanders and platoon leaders, they agreed it was unsatisfactory but said its what we have until we get better. Around 6 months later we did get the plate armor, and slowly things improved. The same can be said for the game. But simply complaining, and I’m not directing that toward anyone specific, is not constructive.

I cannot point out it enough:
Right now I did penitent and in the beginning (for about 20 seconds), there were <10 players and I got some whites and blues.
Suddenly the amount of people increased to 18 (I tried to count it afterwards) and I did not receive one loot (except one “dark stained claw”) after that.
No, I didn’t change how I played, but..
1) the foes are invisible for me, but others seem to see them before I can (and I can definitely see them before my bf can) -.-
2) the foes are invulnerable, but as soon as they are visible and you can do damage, they are already dead (other people have higher dps or kill them faster or whatever they do, the foes are dead before I can do enough damage to get “kill credit” -> loot???)

The best amount of people is around 5. That way you receive some loot (not the best, but you get some!!), because there is less problem with invisibility of enemies and you can contribute damage to the foes before they are dead. ^^

If in any case there is an fire elementalist on board, you are screwed. :p

(Lag wasn’t a problem.)

Make sure you know the point where they go from invuln. to attack-able, stand there despite everyone else running around. They come in waves that can usually be seen from some distance. Make sure that you have your distance all the way up in settings as well. Some of the problem is with the design of the game, which hampers some from seeing the mobs from long distances. Yes it is good to have just a few people, also you can zoom out on your radar map to view both WP’s. This way if the other pops at the same time and this side is crowded, head to the other. Make sure to have not just an AOE but a quick aoe. Stuff like warriors spinning axe skill is amazingly helpful so long as your DPS is decent. I can’t speak for the other classes as I have limited experience. But find a weapon type that fits you best in that scenario.

So, about rewards. People over at mmorpg have repeated more then any meme you’ll find anywhere, that the loot and rewards for pve are perfectly fine. That somehow this RNG loot system isn’t slanting towards something negative like it has been for months for so many of us and that everything is unicorns and rainbows. Are people really so selfish that they can’t help the players that don’t get a single thing from drops by demanding they do something more constructive then just endlessly “gathering data” say like removing DR entirely from the open world?

What do you all think? Because there are those who believe this isn’t happening to those of us with the permaDR at all.

I’ve offered every player the opportunity to group with me on my hours of grinding in Orr. I have no problem helping tag many mobs and have only had many thanks from the people who I group with. For the most part I’m always solo. Most of this thread is just he said/she said. There’s only about 1 page of actual evidence from people who farm regularly. Not to say anyone’s input is invalid, but its hard to go off evidence someone collected on 1 run, or 20 minutes of grinding. I use my personal guild influence to drop banners for people as well, whether or not people believe they work or not is their own opinion. If players added less “I hate arenanet namecall namecall namecall” and more visual evidence this thread would be far more constructive.

Well, the only response I get from people is that since I can only prove it by my own drops and the fact that I have not made any more that 39 gold and I have played since launch is that I apparently “Play the game wrong.”

Ok, so I play the game wrong. I have to grind like you, (which is kind of silly since I don’t get drops….grind for…what exactly? Pixelated blood splatter and the joy of your company?) Farm —-Oh wait I can’t do that either…no drops, you can’t farm. Do Dungeons? For what? The big payment in the end? Hah.

So, I play wrong. Yea, that is the answer.

I can’t say whether you play wrong or not, that’s not my place to say anyway. But in 6 minutes at Orr events I make around 1g in mats/drops. I can say its a lot about how well you can tag mobs, the less people the better. I don’t do dungeons, I’m just not that interested in them at this point in my gaming. Two Orr events would be 12 minutes of time, dragons are just something to do for a change-up. Maw is fun and easy, lots of xp and karma. And the chest at the end doesn’t hurt either. I’d never tell anyone how to play, all I can say is find all the things in the game you enjoy. Don’t focus on one aspect or it truly will annoy you. Not everyone enjoys farming for hours like me, and that’s okay. There’s plenty of fun things to do, and for those times when you can;t find those things, well that’s where a good guild comes in.

Who in their right mind would spend gold on a set of exotics now? Yeah it was easy – because we weren’t garbage collectors before the november update that made all loot trash. I also bought my first exotic set quite quickly, but doing the pve, actually doing dungeons, takes a billion times longer than in WoW.

Be my guest if you wanna buy ecto’s into todays market… If you can afford multiple full exotic sets you are either a lucky dungeon exploiter from early on, no lifer, or TP exploiter. Me personally I like to play the actual game without being poor constantly, and that means grinding dungeons forever in GW2.

So I need to reroll an alt and do map completion to make enough gold to buy more sets? Lol what? I only play one character I shouldn’t be forced to do that.

Grinding Orr for 1 hr, 2-4 G/hr. Not seeing an actual grind here. low levels make less money.

Anti Casual

There is a problem when you can gear up in WoW 50x faster than you can get full exotics in GW2.

For a game that isn’t supposed to have grind it sure has the most I’ve ever seen. So… from what I’ve gathered in the replies in this thread, as long as the journey isn’t difficult it’s considered casual? So even if it takes you months to get exotics that’s casual? Lol.

Playing a few hours a day I made my first 80 in 1 week. By end of week 2 I had the full exotic berserker set. Week 3 and 4 I had every rune/sigil slotted, 400 cooking, 400 Jeweler and had started my thief. And this was all while avoiding leveling fast, which obviously you can see did not work. Casuals will need to simply have a clear path to what they want made out. The more hardcore players will do the same, but achieve them faster. All types of players have the same chance to achieve the same goals, there is simply one difference, and that is “time”. You simply can’t please everyone, all the time. But you can work on helping everyone all the time.

Without being rude about your statement “For a game that isn’t supposed to have grind it sure has the most I’ve ever seen.” I’m really confused by this… Which game are you comparing to? I’ve played FFXI 4 years, took me months and months to get 75 back in the day and over a year to get the best gear while playing every day. I had to do instances that would last 6+ hours for a “chance” to get ONE of my pieces of armor. Aion, took me over a month to hit max level, over 6 to have decent gear when it started. Unless you are comparing it equally to hundreds of MMO’s I’d say theres no proof anyone could say this game is “grindy”. Yes some things take longer, yes some items require more work. But this is the least grindy game I’ve ever played in 15 years of MMO’s.

PS: Casual does not mean “what you achieve in how short of a time”, it simply means “how long you play”. So yes, if your casual and you get your exotic sets in a few months, your doing just fine. No player type is better than another.

I think there is a fine line between casual and people who want everything handed to them. If playing for 20 minutes and expecting exotics, ascended weapons, and finishing the game is considered casual, there may be some problem with the use of that word. I think people who play about 4+ hours a week should be rewarded for something they can do within that time. But I cannot agree that these people deserve the large amounts of drops and items that the farming people who play hours and hours receive. It takes work and effort to keep going and to obtain the things these people earn. To say that any of them have no lives, or too much time is just wrong. We all have various changes in life that allow us to enjoy different aspects of that life. And if someone can spend 6 hours a day in game and still function in a healthy outside environment with family/friends, then so be it. And they should be rewarded accordingly.

There are plenty of ways Arenanet can add weekly things to the game that a “casual” player can feel accomplished from. Maybe it will just take some time to iron out what exactly is fair and deserving. I myself play a bit more than most as my semester in college is online this time. And I feel I get rewarded fairly for what I put into the game. The final issue is balance. If you toss too many simple rewards at casuals, your crossing a line with the people who play a long time. Because now you have made it even easier for them to make money/items, and this could easily cause a huge stress on the economy. You could see every item drop in price, making it difficult for everyone to make money from mats/items. Its a tough balance and not an overnight fix. Give them time, be constructive, and maybe help with ideas you would like to see improve the social aspect and the achievement feeling for casual players.

People take Guild Wars 2 very seriously. I’ve seen commanders in Iraq talk about war more casually than the players on these forums. Interesting stuff.

I will be enjoying FFXIV and TESO when I’m not playing Guild Wars 2. I’m looking forward to experiencing the fun of the new games including GW2, not so much the seriousness of the forums. Hopefully my previous posts have helped with the drop rate info videos and pics. In the meantime I really need to get my programming done :P

See you all in whatever game/games you choose.

Worrying first sentence there – Says more about the act of War itself than the passion of players in this forum.

Intelligent people are more level headed about even the most serious of things. An open and clear mind allows for clear and precise thought. Anger, hate, aggression lead to mistakes and misjudgment. The players in the forums start off with anger, lead into rants, and degrade others. None of which is intelligent or constructive. Not all players, but a pretty noticeable size. I enjoy reading the well thought out and developed ideas and concerns of people who back their information with facts, or admit they have little facts and ask for information while being tactful.

I’d buy an XP boost that actually gave a boost to ANY xp earned not just kills. Since some of my low levels can’t use the boosts effectively unless they can kill very fast or have hoards of mobs.

I’d also buy event type boosts that boosted xp/karma/MF for party members or an AOE. Because I care that much :P maybe 10% each.

Hearts not enough xp?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Geotherma.2395

Geotherma.2395

The leveling process in this game is something easier than the word “easy”. You can literally level to 80 in a day with crafting, a week by just playing, maybe 2 if your super casual. Try out the hearts, then do the meta events around that area. This includes monsters like the Roll in human area and Maw in the Norn area. Events like these are your intermediate xp boosts as you enjoy each map. Work on hearts, watch map chat for events. In between make sure to get way points and discover areas for large amounts of XP. To expand on what you said, its a great idea to do the level appropriate areas in the different races starting areas. Not only is it a great way to get materials, xp, and karma merchants, but its also easy xp and an easy way to explore the world. Follow your story for an even better mix of XP and rewards, which also makes you travel as you progress, which again is yet another XP earning path. if you zoom out on map you should see the level of each area, and as teh person stated above the telescope NPC’s help you find your path.

To sum it up:
Hearts (Karma item unlocks/XP/cute side stories)
Events
Waypoints/Area unlocks
Crafting (recommend cooking and jeweler for ease of leveling and cheapness)
Story

Beyond that, Dungeons, daily’s, monthly’s.

And to go even further, get a guild that buffs ur XP gain. Even better if they routinely drop banners for the guild/server.

There is no “drop rate of new chests”. The chests “should” appear only when the mob you killed drops a green or above item. Anything less will be seen on the mob normally. That’s the only variation, just different way of dropping the same loot.

Animations and combat aren't fun

You are comparing this game to Dragon Age 2? This is an online game. Dragon Age 2 is game that barely sold half of what the first game sold. I’m following development on DA3 and they are dropping those animations because the majority hated them.

You really should compared another online game to skills and not a single player RPG.

In all fairness I think DA2’s issues were well beyond simple animations. Also I’m not sure why GW2 being an online game automatically excludes comparing its animations or graphics to single player games. But with that all said I really don’t have any issues with the animations.

It’s very time consuming and maybe not hardware friendly to have the highest of high quality animations for millions of players. That’s why you can’t compare. It’s 1 guy vs. thoustand of players.

This ^. If we had epic animations and styling the lag from blood, skills, would make the game barely playable. In anion when there was around 1000 players at a fort, you had to pretty much turn off every graphic option just to get the somewhat less lag. In an RPG its important to have style and interesting animations, along with incredible scenery to make you money worth it. Because there’s usually little chance of an expansion, or improvement. When the game comes out it sells as thought it is at its 100% point, or polished and ship status. In an MMO we have updates, and expansions, and they try to tweak things slowly to keep us entertained or interested. An RPG has 1 shot, that’s it. You either buy it or don’t.

I think once you play for a long time you just sort of get used to them. With the improved Hero panel at least we can see specifically what stats are what. Alright, nearly 2 hours in Cursed Shore running events, nothing repeated…about 10 -12 distinct events. Was in a non-guild group of 4. Best I got was two greens, while another in my group got at least 3 or 4 rares, that she linked in to chat. I did get 40-50 porous bones. :P Event DR was not active. Switching guilds apparently made no difference, not that I expected it to.

How many mats, blues, whites though? Because you can’t judge drops off not getting yellows alone, you should be getting rare mats, and by rare I mean blue ones that sometimes net up to 12-15s each.

Perhaps a half a dozen T6 mats. Usually gossamer scraps, which seem to be the most common, the odd other one. Two green, perhaps 15-20 between blues and whites. One unidentified dye that opened to a common. Yes, I can judge drops, because when you consistently see something like this, that indicates something is unbalanced beyond bad luck. Also, rares=ecto which makes them vastly more desirable than greens.

If you run a RNG (100) 10 times, sure, there is a chance that you will hit all low or all high numbers. However, if you run it 1000 or 10000 times, unless you have a buggy RNG or bad seed, the distribution will be very linear and will balance out. It isn’t the first time I’ve seen this behavior in groups, which is why I rarely bother to group up since it seems to make little or no difference. In fact, I tend to do better for loot without a group because I can move around faster, which is completely counter to what ANet says should happen.

I am going to spend a big chunk of my gold and build a full set of MF gear, just to prove that that won’t even help my situation. Realistically, without any chance of ever achieving a legendary with these drops, what else am I going to spend it on?

I was just curious. I spend around 11 hours a day grinding so I have a large gathering of data to work with. I’ve tried a full MF set with boosts etc, around 248MF total.
Below is ONLY for what I tried a few weeks ago, and is not what I had on in my vids/pics.
Omnomberry Bar 30% MF – 40% Gold – +10XP
Guild Buff 10% MF
Guild Buff 5% XP
Guild Banner 5% XP
Guild Banner 10% MF
Magic Find Booster 50% MF
Experience Booster 50% XP
Laurel Coin Booster 30% Gold
Laurel MF Booster 30% MF
Laurel XP Booster 30% XP

130% MF
70% Gold
90% XP
+10 Xp

Gear set:Green MF set every slot. 118MF

That didn’t seem noticeable except maybe when I was in Orr. But that could have been RNG, in lower level areas I noticed no difference. I get a few greens, many blues, and some whites every run, with a large amount of mats. I don’t count on rares, I realize they “can” salvage into nice cash though. I expect “much” loot rather than “rare” loot. Because its the large amount that I make the money on. On average, each run I do gets me around 50-70s in greens/blues direct to NPC. Junk may be averaged into that amount, but the coin drops themselves are not. Overall amounts I make from these I already posted in previous pages.

I don’t really group unless it is guildies, I have heard that it helps with loot drops (quantity, not quality) because you have more contribution. But I’m not sure of this, I am sure you get more influence for guild though heh.

Empty Wooden Chest Or: Dey Took Er Loot!

Yeah, I’ve seen these before too. From what I’ve seen I have a theory on it. Whenever anyone get’s a green or better from an enemy everyone else who got loot from him see’s the chest. I haven’t seen it enough to prove it but that’s my guess.

Unfortunately I don’t think this can be correct. I’ve gotten the chest with bone in it a number of times in Orr, but I’m not farming or grouping. I just pop in to do a few events and random mobs for my daily then head back to a different toon.

I’ve seen chests not belonging to me, that i couldn’t loot. I usually /say for whoevers its is to come get it :P

Just trying to show what my combat log has… unfortunately I don’t have anything BUT received loot showing… strange. Gonna’ see if I can tinker with settings and see everything again.

Make sure you “check” the Combat + Game Messages. That’s what i did for my vid and stretched it to show most of the damage. Unfortunately I couldn’t stretch it far enough to see the whole chat info without taking an additional screen shot or scrolling through.

This has been an interesting thread. The problem is that it’s mostly all anecdote. There’s no concrete anything in any part of this. I have played a little over 600 hours since release, and I have never gotten an exotic drop from the world until last night. I could very easily say that since the patch I’ve had better luck and it would mean just as diddly as people saying they’ve gotten less.

No one will take you seriously, that’s why the dev responded with such an offensive post, I’d imagine.

There may be a problem, there may not be one, but you won’t get it fixed if the entire argument is:
Person A: I haven’t gotten a rare in a month.
Person B: I got two this week.
Person A: Congratulations, champ, but since I didn’t it’s broken.

That is seriously the theme here. Some of you aren’t getting the same drops, and yet others say they are. That’s why no one can take you seriously. It’s anecdote. Anecdote is not truth. It’s filled with confirmation bias and skewed views.

Some of you keep responding about champions and veterans not dropping anything at all, and that’s obviously a separate matter. It has nothing to do with rates if they’re just broken and giving you nothing when the patch specifically says they should. There’s another thread just for that.

The only people who have any real data are the devs here. Unless you actually spent x hours a day for x weeks recording every action and the resulting reward prior to the patch, and then did the same for comparison after. But I bet nobody did that because why would we think to do that?

Since it involves botting asking the devs to see their data is not going to yield any results either. Maybe try running your own tests and numbers over the course of a few weeks and have something tangible to b ring to the table?

There are unbiased Videos and Screenshots of drops in this thread now. This included the video of a Loot Chest dropping a trash item. This is concrete evidence, not anecdote.

Oy. Played for an hour. Nothing but nothing or junk. Stranger still? Dropped goodie bags had junk in them.

Does Anet want people to quit the game? Sure seems like it.

Bags, at least in Orr, should be opening up to mats. The Moldy Bags, salvageable items, gear drops, and coin drops is really what I’m looking for in Orr. Now that they have been increased, its even better. Assuming you don’t mind selling the mats rather than saving them. I’ve never opened a moldy bag to find “actual junk” only materials which sell quite well.

Also its not so much how long you play, but what your doing for that time.

I will just say this I came back to gw2 around january, go my toon to 80 and started running dungeons and dragons.
I never got 1 yellow item in dn’s or dragon chests only blue and from time to time green.

At the same time my guild budies get 2-3yellow from the same chests all the time and exo here and there.
After 2 weeks of daily dn running mostly ac and cof (all3 paths) not 1 yellow item has droped for me from chests. I don’t see the point of doing dn and open world events that give chest drops if I get the same (or better)drop from killing random mobs on open world. I get yellow drops but from normal mobs!
Sure I can get items for dn tokens but it would be nice to have some nice drop from time to time.
Now don’t get me wrong I get some nice penny from orri farming and seling mats I get in dn’s but everything else I need to buy on tp. Now I’m farming gold for corrupted weapons, I don’t think i will ever get the lodestones to drop from hotw or mobs.

Sadly chest drops tend to seem even worse because the amount you experience is limited. Where you can see a somewhat average drop rate for events with many mobs for a better average, you would have to do hundreds of chest to really see what the average is. Even if the average is working as intended, for casual players they most likely aren’t seeing their time being worth it for dungeons and the dragon event chests etc. It might help to allow at least 1 high rarity item to drop per chest OR add something (special item-Karma item? Special armor/weapon piece for that dragon? Mystic Key?) that drops from chests 100% to make it worth the effort in case your normal drops are not so good from the chest.

Geotherma. Worst troll ever.

??

You are, You keep coming in this thread with your claims of everything being all right, for you and “everyone I talk to”

If you aren’t experiencing loot problems, why not count yourself lucky and remove yourself from this discussion. I would say, of the posts in this thread claiming no loot issues, most of them are yours.

Why are you on a crusade to not see this issue fixed?

TBH, now I want “ignore user” fixed as well.

Heres a spoonful of common sense for you. I’m not claiming everything is alright. I’ve ALREADY posted a clear 1080p video of the chests not working. I am posting unbiased information for people to see.

Secondly, you DO NOT make guesses based on “some” evidence, you get large amounts of data for best results. This is the very basics of science and technology that most everyone knows.

“Scientific inquiry is generally intended to be as objective as possible in order to reduce biased interpretations of results. Another basic expectation is to document, archive and share all data and methodology so they are available for careful scrutiny by other scientists, giving them the opportunity to verify results by attempting to reproduce them. This practice, called full disclosure, also allows statistical measures of the reliability of these data to be established (when data is sampled or compared to chance).”

You can feel free to scroll over my threads, but I paid for the game just as you, and I will contribute to this thread as I feel like. My pics, videos, are evidence-concretely so, which is what the thread asked for. I’m simply giving my experience as did others. The true troll is the person who tells the people who are doing well to not post, thus making this a biased thread.

Clearly you don’t understand that others have just as much of a right to contribute as you, and clearly you cannot see beyond your own opinion.

Free trial I can give friends?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Geotherma.2395

Geotherma.2395

I would have 3 friends trying this game tomorrow and hooked next week if there was a trial.

Why would there not be one by default?

Q:Why would there not be one by default?
A: RMT RMT RMT RMT

This could be heavily limited by applying some of the (previous, it’s now F2P instead of P2P) free trial restrictions as Tera to a GW2 trial.

Example:

Free Trial Restrictions
Max level 30
20g limit
Max crafting skill of 100
2 characters per server

Chat restrictions:
Map chat (may see but cannot talk)
Whispers (excluding Friends list)

Limits to:
Banker. You cannot deposit gold into your bank.
Mail. You may not send parcel messages, but you may receive them.
Friends List. You may not add people to your friends list, but other may add you to their friends list. If someone adds you to their friends list they will show up on your friends list.
Guild. You may not apply to or create a guild, but if invited, you may accept a guild invite.
Trading Post. You may not post items for sale, but you may purchase items.

Other restrictions:
No WvWvW or Paid Tournament SPvP.
Free Tournament SPvP available once per day.
No trading.
You may not transfer to another server.

They tried that, take a look at Aion when it went free to play. The RMT spam is non stop on every servers chat. Even with said restrictions. A HUGE advantage that GW2 has is that people don’t want to pay 60 bucks, bot/rmt then lose the account. Its too much of a risk. Which is great for us non rmt people. After experiencing 4 years of RMT in FFXI, and 5 years in Aion, nothing was worse than seeing a game go free to play as far as RMT.

Aside from that, the RMT management team would have a huge workload, and possibly people not even in that department as well. This takes people away from important aspects, bugs, bots, updates, expansions etc.

One big game changer for me is when they go free to play, B2P is fine because of teh risk you don’t see scrolling RMT chat 24/7. Which is amazing. I’ve received 1 RMT mail in 2 months, that’s it. I reported and it was done. Trials allow in the bad sort of people, along with legitiment players. I would say the best thing if they want this is allow (one) key to be sent by players with over 30 days gameplay and no bad statuses to a friend. This would limit just anyone from getting in and abusing the system. Really though, I cannot stand the RMT influx when games go f2p.. And the amount of employees who end up away from normal work to deal with them..

But who knows, some of the stuff you posted looks like it may work. I’m just hesitant to want to see that model again after I just left it..

Oh I should have added:

Personally I’ve found this patch improved rare drop rates for me. I had no less than 5 rares in 30 minutes the other evening and I’ve had rares drop across all my chars. It helps that pen/shelter is busy again….

However the wooden chests suggest that things are still not working as intended – I often have whites appear in the chests, and I have to wonder, how can we trust anets claim that their tests indicate nothing changed in drop rates when they cannot correctly code this new feature? Surely some piece of code is saying “if item >= uncommon: spawn (chest, item);” – wouldn’t their internal tests also be incorrectly flagging none rare components as rare….?

I’m trying to get a pic/vid of this but so far im almost positive there are 2 questionable chest drops:

1. grey junk + coin
1.Moldy bag only

If someone can just confirm that coin=rare or moldy bag=rare in some strange category that would help. I know it sounds stupid, and I do feel stupid, but I’ve grabbed the chest thinking it wouldn’t happen so no vid or pic.. then bam. I sit there with fraps on for an hour and it wont happen lol.. Makes me crazy :P I WILL get it lol…

I second that Navi.. At most I get 1-2g and that’s with the ‘increase’ in drops. I want some of Geotherma’s RNG/DR/Luck or whatever it is.

My point was that they made this thread, asked for concrete proof and then removed the ONLY way we could provide it (via a log file).
Again what am I missing?
I can’t think of a single exploit from saving the combat log to a file, like was available in the beta. It’s obviously a troubleshooting function.

I don’t think Leamas was implying that botting was a good thing. I do think he/she was saying that the economy was stable because of them and once they were removed problems occurred that hadn’t been compensated for.

I think they stated that the logs were against their belief that it’s supposed to be about skill, and did not want focus of players to be on how much they are dpsing etc. As it really doesn’t matter as much in GW2, because you need to dodge etc, it creates an elitism feel. Even if that’s not EVERY players intention it is guaranteed to be someones. Everything is geared in a way that your skill shows more than what your wearing, I think that’s why.

When I first hit level 80 at my first week, I was making about 1-2g an hour. Once I got better gear (rare to exotic, then full accs.) and understood what I needed to do to claim loot, it was much better. Ever since I’ve just stuck on food and went with it. Then the patch came for Orr and it was a big jump. Those bags are helping the economy get mats, and as far as me I mostly use the coin to help guild or host events like I did for the Valentine’s Event I created.

Also I’m on here a few times, I’ve uploaded 6 min videos of me grinding solo, pics of my drops for 8 runs, and things I notice since I tend to have more free time than most at the moment. Aka no life :P

The above thread sounds like a ad for bots in gw2. Taking all the bots out of game apparently ruined the game? Darn arenanet for doing their job and getting rid of bots/rmt who support terrorist organizations, credit card theft, identity theft, and hacked accounts.

When the player base (and this is not a broad statement to every player) is lazy, as in they don’t farm mats or most the population doesn’t sell on TP THAT’S what hurts the economy. It’s as simple as supply and demand. More people playing, selling mats/items on broker the cheaper they will get. But since people are too busy spending hours on forums qqing about everything under the sun, instead of playing the game and supporting it, heres where you have the issue. For me my drops are consistent, I do not rely on something with the name “rare” or “exotic” to sustain me. I know I have to work hard to make gold, and I feel good when I see that 12g a day from just a few events. Even though those events lacked rares/exotics. People WILL leave, there is no way around that. But they will leave mostly for the wrong reasons. In the end its their money, so all the more to them.

Theres not really a grind in GW2, all exotics share the same stats anyway. If you want ascended then yes you will have to do dungeons or dailys/monthlys for laurels etc. An mmo needs a set of items that keeps it an MMO. Otherwise its just an RPG, and beatable in a few weeks. Changes will come, things may improve for different aspects. To give up on a game barely 6 months old (to me) seems silly over a few problems. But to each their own, again its your money.

ESO does look cool, as does FFXIV mostly because I’m a fan of the series/genre. I will probably play at least 2 of the 3 at the same time. Switching between to give me a variety of interesting things to do.

Drop rates for Orr were increased, and I can tell. From someone who does long term grinds and has accurate averages, going from 6-8g a day to 10g-12+g a day, makes me want to send Anet some flowers-if only they were tradeable..

Why are you continuing to spend time to report on your bad loot rate?

Anet has appeared only once in this thread, with a level of disrespect that many players have already successfully commented on. The very title of this thread should give you a hint as well. Anyway, what did Anet say when, finally, it came with its “response”? Well. We looked at it, it’s in your head, case referred to the X-files, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation. By its response, Anet has shown that it does not look at anyone’s individual case reported on this forum regarding troubling droprates. Despite the fact that this reporting was extensive, and was done at Anet’s request. If it had looked at these individual cases, the problem would have been fixed by now, wouldn’t it? Or perhaps, even acknowledged?

TL;DR There is only one possible conclusion. The drop rate of open world PvE was nerfed heavily, and intentionally so. Anet only steps in if you report that the loot rate goes up. See the quick patch of 29 January: you reported good loot? Boom, “fixed” within a day to the same, horrible droprates.

You should also have learned by now that communication regarding droprates is a one way street. They are “announcements” to players, nothing more. There is no dialogue.

I reported “Good Loot” (See above, this is my daily average) , and my loot actually got better that day. 1 Exotic, which I get about 1 a week or bi weekly. Which is fine with me

8 Events-5 Minutes each- 40 minutes of actual grind.
My drops are consistent when you compare them day after day after day as a whole. Not as 1 hour in a dungeon, or grinding a few mobs. But this isn’t an argument, everyone is entitled to ask for information and make inquiries to Arenanet. This is just my experience, and that of most people I know. I see chests, karma chests, as a kind of lottery. I’m ok with some blues and greens, if I get a yellow I’m thrilled. And I feel that’s how I should feel. Otherwise yellow would just be the new blue, or even white.

Anet Hosted Event: Seinfeld Episode.

I love the game, and I do like some stuff on Gem store. But this… This is well.. “Different” lol

From an article on the web: “15 percent of U.S. women send themselves flowers on Valentine’s Day.”

15% of you will buy those roses, and you will like it.

Remember all those movies/shows where the guy/girl buys themselves flowers to make everyone else jealous. Well, it’s probably not gonna work here.

8 runs of Penitents/shelter camps.
*These were average runs for me, not “extra special” or anything.
*All were done today 2/10/2013.
*From selling all mats on TP, NPC’ing gear below yellow, and salvaging yellows for ectos (which wasn’t many ectos) I made about 12g. Which is around my average for this many events. Sometimes higher sometimes a lil lower. Tried my best to keep it my average so nothing was too off.

Keep in mind theres some variables like the amount of mobs I was able to tag enough for drops etc.
Also this does not include straight coins dropped.

Notes:
Vets seems to not drop anything sometimes.
I was solo in every one of these.
DR was not in affect in any of these.
I was using Omnomberry Bar 30% MF + Guild Buff 10% (not banner).

For the person above about loot box- I’ve yet to get a quick pic of me getting the loot box with porous bones, but I have seen them. BUT, and I’m at least 50% sure when I got them the last few times there was coin drop with the bones. Can anyone at Anet confirm that coin is concidered a rarity equal to that of green + drops? That would explain some things. *Also gotten Moldy Bag from chest.

For the person above about the Karma Boxes-
I spent around 70k Karma getting boxes. I made 17g off lodestones, 1 g alone from teh vendor trash, a mini, and some other stuff. With the karma drops I got I made 120k back return, and of course spent that too lol. My best advice for them is-

Karma Boxes are the lottery. You have a chance to get some nice money or items, you have a chance to not get them. The important difference is with these boxes you DO get something back; Karma. So you get some of your funds back for “playing”. The biggest advice I have is to get in a guild who can give you the Guild karma buff, the guild karma banner, use karma boosts if you have, and then-and only then, open the new karma you got. Get the most you can, otherwise its a waste. The “junk” you get from these is worth more than regular trash, so that helps. Overall for me it was worth it, again its a chance. So when you see them and want to buy, simply think “lottery”. Do I want to spend that 1$ to win maybe $100? Am I ok with losing my $1? Just chose wisely and know the consequences. In the end you have a choice, its only there as an option not as a must have.
