I’m curious as to how frequently the recipe drops from Rich Coffers. If it’s a decent enough chance, I might drop some of my spare gems on it (just because having that ONE unknown recipe on my Chef will drive me bonkers). I’ll wait a few days to see what the data is like.

I found it funny because I had a stack to open, and on the first open I got one lol RNG likes to tease me :P But it is kind of pointless now because I already am one of those people who bought them pre update who will probably get 1 free.. So.. yea lol Oh well i have 3x (400) cooks anyway :P

For about a week or so (I think..) it has caused me to have to restart my game client once a day to correct no gems/gold showing up on TP when I’m browsing/buying/selling. It is either blank or has … and will not let me buy until I restart. It still is happening, any chance there is a problem on my end or is there more bugs in the BLTC?

Just wanted to say AMAZING idea to finally implement this. For player hosted events, or fun, for guild rewards, for family etc etc. Just a great overall idea I haven’t seen in many other MMO’s. I may hold some events now and give away keys and all sorts of stuff Thanks for this.

And the problem wasn’t with the “better chance” it was the fact that the better chance still equates to possibly hundreds of dollars. That and the original rng is the problem. Different methods offer different results, and my opinion still stands on the two different styles that were discussed in these two different posts. I have plenty of money that i will spend as I please, I did my part in voicing my concerns on that money spent, and the differences in RNG box designs. And thus is my privilege since I have spent money to buy/support the game.

Available on gem store and in game from drops.
Gave some useful items at times which could be used for the exotic karka shell or sold.
Cons-
Very low chance of drop again, also boxes seemed to be affected by DR for some people and were not dropping steadily.

Dragon Bash
Pros-
Available on gem store as well as drops from in game.
Drops much candy for jorbreakers from Gem version.
Cons-
Gem store ones are costly and had stated better chance, but that chance seemed poorly planned into pricing as some people spent anywhere from $10-$400+ without a ticket.
Coffers in game are still somewhat expensive and cost in game gold.
These (IMO) skins are some of the best I have seen design wise, sadly they are very very difficult to obtain for such an interesting and nice event.

If anyone has info on the holiday/event RNG chests before these feel free to share.

In fact I’m at the ceiling right now lol.. But I really don’t care to play the email game with them anymore, so i ordered 20 from Gamestop to my local store ^^

My Walmart doesn’t carry them idk why, my Gamestop does. You could order them online I suppose, there may be stores/companies that give free shipping after X amount etc. Nice to have some when you get locked out of spending your money on Arenanet lol..

After hitting the limit about 8+ times on my account I’ve come to realize that if you want it lifted you have to contact CS. When you do they will lift the limit (usually for 24 hours) and you can go nuts on buying gems. I still find it annoying to have to do that, but with Aion I remember hitting that limit so much I just stopped buying from in game and started only buying cards.

I have this since about a month or so too I think. Forget when it started, but it does happen frequently.

At least there are new games that reward farming more, and focus less on just spam selling everything on tp for profit lol. GW2 is always changing, I’m sure it will get there sooner or later.

You jumped to a conclusion and blame Anet for your mistake.

compare a 1 in 1000 chance to a 2 in 1000 chance. The latter is a “better” chance even if it doesn’t really matter much when you make 10 attempts. They are under no obligation to consult you for permission to use a specific term when advertising their products. Buyer beware.

I’ve gotten three jade tickets without spending a dime of real money. Kill lots of mobs and sell the stuff you get, use the gold to buy coffers from the TP and in no time you’ll have opened a few thousand and found some tickets.

I didn’t blame Anet for anything, I said that they could have done this better/differently. And this style of reward is very annoying for many players. I knew the risks when I spent the money, otherwise i wouldn’t have done so. Sitting on 5 tickets, I still feel it could have/should be done in a more fair way that doesn’t require casual players and hardcore players alike to invest huge sums of money or gold for limited time available items.

A thread like this pops up every single time. No, most likely not. You just have to be around for the sale, if you missed it you and others who missed it are out of luck. If you spent beforehand, your also out of luck. I’ve done it too so i know the feeling, but that’s just the way it is with luck.

So many people put in so much time and effort trying to come up with better solutions to RNG, and along come people like this that undermine it all.

It’s great that some people have globs of disposable income to spend on a game, but man, what a short sighted choice.

I just hope that people that spend this kind of money are a very, very small minority. To think that there are people out there giving ANet the evidence it needs to do more RNG really disheartens me.

A few people spending a lot doesn’t necessitate a reason to continue RNG boxes, those people simply want the items before they are gone. When those people spend that much and show it on forums it allows others to comment on how much they dislike how difficult and costly it is to obtain them. That is called feedback.

I still think 4000 gems is enough to keep them rare, if they need more difficulty added to obtaining them, then make it 4000 gems and only able to purchase 1 ticket per account that way. Then the rest you get will have to be from chests/gem store etc.

I don’t mind supporting the game, and I have supported the idea of prestigious items being rare/unique. But when I spend $300 for 1 single ticket (I have 11 characters), and I have to choose 1 item, it kinda hurts the wallet and brain. Please just make them 4000 gems and people will buy them, they would much rather do so than spend hundreds on a “chance” to get one. They would still be rare, but at least obtainable through your RNG and the 4000 buyout option.

Veterans who have played the game for a long time will be more and more discouraged from participating in these RNG boxes if they aren’t balanced properly. I bought mine to try for a few tickets as well as show people who are reluctant on spending the amount it can cost to get there. I’ve done the same before, but as far as encouraging Arenanet to continue these, I highly doubt my funds alone will be a determining factor.

The $800 was for some epic CE editions of my favorite game coming out, and some for GW2. When I start a sub for another game I am less likely to spend as much on a free game as I will be intently playing the sub one more. Aside from that, with family, gw2, new games, my 230+ ps3 games, and regular life I keep myself pretty busy. I even bought my wife a new wedding ring because hers had become slightly damaged and wanted a more personalized one. Then I bought my son a 3ds XL because games these days should be enjoyed on large screens. I bought my wife an alien ware X51, because like me, she had always wanted one as a child.

So I live comfortably, yet busily. I do spend my money/time wisely on my own terms. I don’t agree that RNG is the best way to deliver these items, I did want one of these and I ended up with 1 (3 as of today). But I wanted to shine some clarity of the fact that a few steps forward were made on the RNG chests, but then a few steps were taken back. Hence the discussion on the topic, I was hoping people would have suggestions and share their feelings on them. But I suppose people rather turn it into a thread about me, but in all honesty, I’m truly not that interesting of a topic.

I’m not exactly sure what you were expecting. My comment was about the mindset “It’s not my problem unless it happens to me.”, which was evident by your prior post which I quoted. It was eluding to the tendency people have.

A lot of people don’t see things as problems when it doesn’t affect them, even when such things are obviously an issue. (not in my backyard) However, like in this instance, when something eventually does affect them, people’s perceptions tend to change.

I am sorry you took it as some kind of personal attack, but admittedly I have found the resulting exchanges rather amusing.

PS..I rather enjoy the food buffs and minis that we get when we open the coffers. They are (imo) much better than mystery tonics and crafting/glory/experience/killstreak/rejuvination boosters from the blc’s.

I’m at 4 tickets now after 25 more boxes, but my opinion on the matter still hasn’t changed. I’ve went more in to detail in other threads about what was good/bad about them, I was just voicing my opinion despite the fact I still have tickets now.

I’m more the type of person who just wanted a ticket, at least 1. If I don’t buy them someone else will. In the end if things aren’t turned around my large amounts of purchases will slowly decrease, as will others, because of these scenarios.

At the end of the month you’ll likely be able to buy a few stacks of Dragon Coffers for 10 gold. Hold off till then if you’re looking to buy them. As you’ve mentioned though, save those gems for something else.

Yea, I ended up just getting lots of keys for the decent BL chests. Not sure what I’ll do with 250 trans stones, but never know. It’s not so much that I hate RNG or the RNG boxes, but the fact that the fused tickets lead to at least getting some boosts etc was nice. With these it is a big loss and not so much fun. I just feel bad for people, myself included, who were let down by the lose lose situation these types offer. With such great skins and designs it is too bad not many people will be able to enjoy at least 1 type. I generally give unbiased info, and I wouldn’t tell people to spend on something I didn’t believe had some sort of value. But that is why I made this post, I don’t support the idea of giving something or literally nothing good. At least with keys we get many cool items, buffs, kits etc with chance.

100 Gem store coffers, 1 ticket. Done for now, the alternative items don’t seem worth the risk. Too bad, these dragon pieces were very cool.

There is a difference here, I still do not mind spending the money. However, I don’t think it is fair to people who don’t have the money to be told the purchased ones have a better chance, when the cost is 100-300+ dollars. That is the difference here, before we knew the chance was low and this time it sounded more like it was a decent chance. I spent around 800 dollars this week on game for fun, I could care less about money, but not everyone is fortunate to have disposable income. And when someone says “better chance” I would suspect 3000 in game coffers = 1 ticket, 25-50 gem store tickets = 1 ticket. Unfortunately that isn’t how it worked out. Again, no problem spending money, but i won’t continue to on these. Instead I bought 90 black lions keys, need more boosts anyway.

Edit-I am ok with RNG chests, but this felt misleading because it was made to sound like a better chance, when clearly the chance is still very very very low. Slightly better would have been a better phrase.

Just wanted to say that it is a little pricey, and I can’t think of many things outside of game that cost $300 for a ticket :P

I don’t mind supporting the game, and I have supported the idea of prestigious items being rare/unique. But when I spend $300 for 1 single ticket (I have 11 characters), and I have to choose 1 item, it kinda hurts the wallet and brain. Please just make them 4000 gems and people will buy them, they would much rather do so than spend hundreds on a “chance” to get one. They would still be rare, but at least obtainable through your RNG and the 4000 buyout option.

My new Charr Guardian. Just hit 80 and wanted to make him look interesting. Thought about full abyss dye but idk yet, because I kind of like the imperfect colors, makes him look tough and rugged. More like he made his own gear from what he found from battle, or I’m just weird :P

On gaming mice (naga etc) you can bind any key to pretty much any button via the software.

I opened about 600 and got one ticket.

After I got my ticket I’ve been giving all of my regular coffers to my husband, and our guild has donated some too.

He’s at ~3100 regular coffers opened. nearly 30 holo dragon knights, enough taffy to kill Abbadon, potions and food. and Not.One.Single.Weapon.Ticket.

We will be continuing to battle the evil RNG Dragon tomorrow. Wish us luck.

And he opened another 500 this morning. No ticket. He’s disgusted with this and has downloaded RIFT.

I’ve been beta testing the new FF reborn and it’s waaaaay better. I might be going there on full release, I was quite impressed, especially given my reservations about the last pile of kitten they released. I think it may be pay to play though At least rift will be free.

Running out of things to do in GW2, but it’ll be there for the casual player, and for when I need my fix hah. I’m over the rng aspect of skins, which are the only reason I (personally) play.

Ditto Game is amazinggggg lol Bought the CE for 70 bucks(X 2). I’ll still be playing GW2 of course, but after seeing what they have done… and the graphics.. All the other MMO’s better seriously think on how they want to keep people playing lol. GW2 is still a great game but it is about to see (like all older mmo’s) what everyone else is bringing to the table. And RNG chests like these is a sole gamebreaker for some people. I have enough money to play the lottery game, but some people don’t, and I understand their frustration. All I can say is it seems like they are headed in a “better” direction allowing them to drop in game as well. Seems like they are close to a compromise.
