Globs of Ectoplasm can now be salvaged into Piles of Crystalline Dust. This change should help Globs of Ectoplasm maintain a strong value in the economy and lower the cost of Crystalline Dust.

Someone was saying?

Screen Capture bug/question

The in game screen capture looks different than what I see on my screen. Can a dev or anet rep confirm/explain whether screenshots use or remove certain aspects of the graphics settings when taking a picture? Or that screen captures are taken with a default Gamma level and not the user set gamma. Currently fraps screenshots reflect what i see on my screens, in game printscrn looks darker and duller, even with -bmp option.

Screenshots do look darker than actual gameplay, that is why I use fraps instead. I also have a 32in LED LCD smart tv, but i can clearly tell that screenshots from game just turn out dark and bland when done with the in game option. Fraps does not look the same.

I can take a screenshot made using the “ingame” method and put it right next to the game running in windowed mode, and it looks exactly the same. I just double checked to be sure, actually.

Screenshot with in game option, then use fraps, see the difference.

If fraps gives a different result, then it’s not accurate. The in game option gives the exact image of what you actually see on your screen.

No, it doesn’t, that is the problem. Fraps overlay takes exactly what i see on screen, always has. In game screen is much different and does not look the same.

Calibrate your game. Those screenshots look horrible.

Calibrate to what lol? This is what it looks like on most peoples screens, my PC info is in my signature. It isn’t like I’m running a crap setup, the game just doesn’t have the best graphics out there. But again, the screenshot and game side by side are not the same with in game option. Perhaps it lowers the gamma when taken, or because it isn’t HD screen, or a combination of both. This is the only game that does this for me out of FFXI, Aion, Tera, Rift, FFXIV, Eve, SWTOR.

“Sometimes” the very high servers are busiest, but TC is always busy. Some other people can list servers that are busy as well.

First step is to figure out if it is burn out, or lone wolf issue. Burn out would mean you just played so much, or played through so much that the game feels uninteresting.

Some options for burn out:
Take a break
Wait for a new content update
Play other games

For lone wolf:
Guest to busy servers
Find new things to do in game
Find a good active guild

Either way there is nothing wrong with taking a break if you feel bummed, nothing wrong with looking for more people. If you aren’t happy you just have to find ways to start being happy, sometimes that means trying new things, sometimes that means stepping back or away.

Wow. Thats not even enough gems to open the 600+ black lion chests I’ve accrued.

Seriously pathetic.

Keys should be 25 gems. Maybe less.

Opening 550 chests could net you around 100+ more keys. I’m sure someone could give a better statistically accurate number since there is a percentage drop on wiki, but I’m too tired to do the math :P But those 100+ could net you say 20 more keys as an example. Depending on RNG and your luck you could almost double this number, never know :P Also keep in mind I did say you could save the gems for later, later includes using them during a time when keys are discounted

Thats not the point. Why would Anet let chest be so common while the keys are so expensive. It’s like, they WANT to take up our inventory, because OBVIOUSLY we’re never going to spend that much gems to open them all, its insane, the rewards are pathetic.

For money, it is a business. If tons of keys dropped in world to cover all the chests, they would make nothing. If chests were a super rare drop and costed 20silver, would you really want to have to spend 20 silver AND 125 gems? That is the point, they know you can get chests for almost free, all you really pay is the gems. No one wants to have to pay for a random chest, a random key, and a random reward. I think it fist fine. And the rewards are only worth what worth you put on them. I never am disappointed in the drops, especially my many stacks of BLSK’s.

Buy all available character slots (which would most likely end up empty considering I just have 2 80’s, one alt I’m slowly leveling and one bank mule char), max bank and character inventory and… and… and… well, I guess I’d save the rest for a rainy day since there’s really nothing else in the TP I’m currently interested in.

There is a guess currently that you can get up to at least 30 slots, wonder what the real max number is :P

Anything you want, any choice on gem store, and saving it for future purchases is an option. What would you do with 50,000 gems? (a bit more than $600 worth, if I did math right)

It is over 1000 gold transferred from gems>gold(if I did math right), you could buy keys to take your chances at rng boxes, you could expand your characters to see how many we can truly have. So what would you do with it?

I would be unsure what to do, don’t need the gold really. But maybe a huge BL chest opening, or expand every alts inventory. Here’s a few numbers in case you were curious :P

62.5 Harvesting sickles
250 hats of your choice
555 Black lion keys
31 dye packs
166 back packs
205 bonfires
166 black lion salvage kits

Just some ideas Let me know if any math is off ^^ I’m also asking this because I may or may not be interested in making an extreme test, or in buying things straight out, so let me know what YOU would do

Also, if this did happen what would YOU do with all the cards assuming you bought the cards instead of online :P

No, it doesn’t, that is the problem. Fraps overlay takes exactly what i see on screen, always has. In game screen is much different and does not look the same.

Well, there’s something wrong on your PC then. When I put the actual game running in a window and a screenshot taken with the in game method side by side on my PC, they are exactly the same.

Lol.. not my PC…. Look up “High quality screenshots removed from GW2” and think about that again.. Nothing wrong with my PC, and fraps is accurate as far as overlay screen captures. You can clearly see the difference.

The difference doesn’t mean the fraps version is accurate.
As I said, when I put the game running (what you actually really see when playing) and a screenshot taken with the built in system, they look exactly the same. That means the screenshot is accurately representing what you see on the screen. Something on your PC is altering the final output of the game.
And I invite you to read my full post this time instead of only answering to a part of it.

The screen looks different in full mode than it does in windowed. take a picture in game with the print screen, then compare it to your actual screen, NOT using windowed.

I see… you have changed the brightness setting.
Instead of that, my display is correctly calibrated and I don’t need to artificially increase brightness inside games (and subsequently crush the whites and lose bright color resolution).

I like brighter looking games, personal choice, so yes I adjust the brightness a bit higher my tv is calibrated fine. It’s my preferences that change it. Tera has beautiful coloring, I don’t prefer the game as much as GW2, but that is the style I like. the screencaptures look darker in game, and I dislike that, it takes away from the color and bright looks.

No problem with that, but keep in mind that you do lose resolution (=quality) in the brightest colors when you do that. White can’t be whiter than white (aka 255,255,255 RGB), so stuff is lost in the process.

Currently have my Gamma at 1.40. 1.0 looks ridiculously dark, 1.20 looks “ok” but will look absolute crap when using the print screen function because it is darker in the screenshot than on my screen. They should be identical, as they are/have been on all 6 other MMO’s I’ve done this with. I’m not sure why it is different here, even using the -bmp change in properties doesn’t help.

If you are talking about sweetfx-enabled pictures… the in-game screenshot key won’t capture them, the pictures will appear default instead of sweetfx-enabled. But, if you have sweetfx, pressing PrintScreen will take pictures in your game folder, that are using SweetFX, so they are the same as what appears on screen.
It puzzled me at first when the game couldn’t use SweetFX when taking pictures, but the solution is easy.

I don’t use that program.

Came back after a couple month vacation…to notice that every single mob there pretty much chain knock downs/pulls/ccs. It’s really annoying.

Suppose that might be why people avoid the place like the plague.

Perhaps they went a wee bit over board on the mob buffs, yes?

In Orr? Actually they fixed the majority of that happening by removing dense mobs, removing those annoying spam grabbing, and adding loot bags to more drops. Unless your referring to champions at the events, then yes, they do suck.

I don’t really take a timer with me, they have the data they can go over.

And if they did this every time someone cried nerf, we would never have any updates and the game would die. Hence why people analyze proposed bugs/nerfs with statistical information.

I love these amateur “graphics mods” these days.
They increase constrast to hilariously exaggerated levels, to the point the game looks like a cartoon, and call it “The Ultimate Super Mega kitten zor Hax of L33tskillz Graphix skillzors!”.

Agreed, most of the screenshots are over-saturated and quite ugly… people should learn to calibrate their monitor instead of using third party “mods”.
The only positive benefit I can see from that thing is the new anti-aliasing modes.

How it looks ingame is Completely different for Every monitor.Just because a screenshot can look “oversaturated” is because of your monitor settings…

I stopped reading here. My display is a 32" LED TV that has been professionally calibrated. Most people don’t even know what it means to calibrate a display, you can even do that manually and get decent results with free tools available on the net.
If GW2 seems too dark to you, it’s not because of the game, it’s because you need to learn to properly set at least brightness and contrast on your display.
Most if not all the screenshots using that third party thing are saturated, meaning they lose details in the brightest colors, they look ugly on a proper monitor.

Screenshots do look darker than actual gameplay, that is why I use fraps instead. I also have a 32in LED LCD smart tv, but i can clearly tell that screenshots from game just turn out dark and bland when done with the in game option. Fraps does not look the same.

Wait for the southsun event to end, and also for the first couple of days of the Dragonbash festival to pass and some people will be returning to Orr.

The thing is, I don’t think the majority of the playerbase realizes they doubled the event timers for shelt/pen

Felt it like a brick to the face :P Luckily I toned down my event farming there or I’d probably be more annoyed about it. Still, couldn’t hurt to let us have our penshelterygoodness back after SS is over.

In your opinion these are the only ways for us players to have made money? Exploiting, ripping people off, or doing a speed dungeon? The majority really?

That and gems, but why bother mentioning that. My drop rate is so abysmal, I can’t make any money by actually playing the game, and since everyone else says ‘OH! Random is random!" I’d be fair to believe that everyone else’s drop rates are terrible as well.

The players that I know that are exploiting the markets are the same ones who didn’t get the axe from the karma and winter exploits. So yes, from my experiences these are the only real ways to earn money.

But I know you’re going to argue my opinion, so go ahead. Tell me that my experiences are the absolute kitten bottom of the barrel bad luck and that everyone else is doing so much better just because rng favors them. Tell me I should keep trying after 10 months instead of accepting that the game is broken as hell or that perhaps you’re just lucky and don’t really care about anyone else or any generalized idea of fairness.

go. right. ahead.

I think you will find I’ve probably spent more real cash on this game than most just to prove bugs, errors or statistics in game to support peoples efforts on knowledge and making money. So no, I won’t say that it is just you, but bad luck happens. Sometimes there are reasons for the bad luck, but sometimes it isn’t bad luck at all. It can be the fact that people depend too greatly on one spot, one method, one way of obtaining loot/gold that when it changes (as all things do) it basically cripples them. There is a saying I’m sure many know- Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, and it holds true here as well. But calling everyone bad because they make money is just silly, we aren’t all magically lucky though luck plays a part and its name is RNG. We aren’t all exploiters (at least I’m not, never exploited or played the TP) and we aren’t all out to kill everyone’s hopes and dreams either. Not everyone is doing better than you, some are probably doing worse than you. Some are doing better/worse than me, that is just the way of things. If you think that exploiting and playing the TP is the only way people make money than you just have to experiment for yourself on better ways, because clearly they are not. It isn’t the game that needs to change, it is the mentality of the gamer when it comes to things like this. Everything in GW2 is basically simple and easy, leveling, crafting, gearing, so people tend to get comfortable and when they actually want something and have to work hard for it, something seems off. That is just the feeling I get from forums anyway.

there*

I would have to disagree. If we had a dragon event (which is no different than a meta event and we already have 6 in orr zones) it would only attract players there for the time it was up.

If you really want people to play in Cursed Shore…Anet needs to rollback all these farming nerfs and bring back shelt/pen + plinx.

I know I would revisit Orr if the times on the 2 events were at a decent rate. But Imo Orr AND Southsun really need something interesting added to them. Since leveling can be so quick, high level areas really need a revamp now that we have been “enjoying” them for several months. I can farm all day long and do mostly the same stuff, many people aren’t like me though. But that being said, I still would rather prefer some variation in the high level zones and new/interesting looks and monsters. And the champions need a serious revision.. as well as the coding for them not de-spawning at the end of the event. Nothing is more annoying than fighting an endless wraith or a champ spider who pops out 300 spiders who drop 0 loot.

I personally know of one place that would make for an excellent jumping puzzle in Orr, small things like that could help as well. Not everyone who comes to Orr is a farmer or a temple runner, and that is ok, but they deserve something fun to do as well.

Thought it was “ok”, didn’t have that cool feel or like I would want to really finish it. I kinda wanted the backpiece, but I really hate zergs of karka and lizards. It just didn’t seem fun, the environment felt really plotted and sectioned. I’m a farmer at heart but even the farming didn’t feel fun, even with the drops and MF. ALso i just dislike the are because it is so gloomy and dark, and farming in Orr for 5 months, it’s not really a “shiny” new place of interest for me. Still prefer Orr even with the delayed events, karka just kill you without a chance in groups. Solo they are simple as most classes but something about that place just felt dull and uninteresting to me…

Hoping for the dragon bash, can’t see myself not doing that it looks like a lot of fun. I usually spend much money on these events, boxes and such, but southsun just didn’t really see anything worth getting. Even as a person who does buy RNG boxes sometimes, just don’t see the point this time.

It’s sad, Southsun could be a really beautiful area without all the rain and gloom. Even with a few more mob types and keeping the karka and lizards, if they just made the island more inviting(environment wise) it would help.

Basically, it’s the same thing as opening 3 windows and positioning them on top of each other so you can see all 3 at once. The original jsfiddle example was just that, 1 or more of the pages in frames on top of each other. But since they disabled that ability, that’s no longer possible.

With the workaround, the difference is that it is a cache of the page (without map functionality) as it is right now, so if they change the look of gw2stuff tomorrow, the cache won’t change with it. If they completely change the way timers work though, the cache will no longer work, at which point I can just generated another cache. The only bonus, besides now having to open 3 windows, is that you’re not downloading everything 3 times, since all the extra stuff like images is part of the cache.

I see, was it just strain then that they were worried about? Just going off the reddit, I program a little but I don’t understand API much… The multi server thing was great because for casuals with maybe only 1-3 hours a day they could catch their favorite events, especially with alts. Also embedding on guild sites doesn’t seem to work right.

Increase in bank space (soon™) ?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Geotherma.2395

Geotherma.2395

You don’t have to justify anything.

I’m just saying that the reason why you want more bank tabs is flawed.

If you don’t want your Black Lion harvesting equipment hogging up storage, but don’t want to delete it, take the hour out of your busy busy day, throw them onto a character and actually use them.

It makes no difference whether or not you use them today, or use them in three months…. so why not do yourself the favor and instead of taking the time to type up a lengthy thread on the forums about how you have no space, actually use the equipment?

…also, on the subject of the dyes…
You might have 10 slots taken up with valuable dyes that make up 99% of the “80g” you claim the dye collection is worth…. but just because a handful of those dyes are actually worth something, it warrants an excuse to hoard even the common dyes worth less than 1s?

Don’t think so.

If you didn’t want criticism, why post the screens?

Oh wait, that’s obvious. Like every hoarder, you are actually proud of this mess, and you are showing it off with screens.

Don’t get all bent out of shape when people point out the obvious flaws in your logic.

If you have a garbage can that’s full…. you empty the trash….. not buy yourself a new garbage can.

There is no need or urgency to increase the storage capacity of the player’s bank accounts.

Especially if your storage is just full of nonsense.

Lol again your missing the point. I’ve said SEVERAL times I use at least 3 tools on each character x11, I play maybe 10-12 hours a day so yes they do get used acrossed most my alts. And my storage is full of whatever I want it to be full of, nonsense is your view of it, and luckily I don’t play/pay to have you tell me how to play my game

I asked for more bank tabs because people who even are not like me who have tokens, armor sets, event items from way back, are also getting full. We want one place to put everything and access from any character, that is all, and you don’t seem to get it.

The dyes were just to show how easy it is in game to be bombarded with items that you use. Someone could want to save 10-15 dyes for a new character they will make and not want to fill their inventory with it. The picture was a silly exaggeration which clearly went over your head.

Unlike a garbage can, all this stuff still has value in my bank. Things I can use in the near to late future, or simply want to swap out at some point.

And don’t get all bent out of shape just because a hoarder has tons of stuff that some people don’t. Collecting is a healthy and fine habit so long as it is safe and doesn’t interfere with the livelihood of yourself or family. And clearly my pixels don’t hurt your game. My home is neat, uncluttered, and far from anything resembling a hoarder. I served my country and learned cleanliness, control, and how to take care of myself and others. So I will do as I wish in the game despite your opinions on the usefulness of my items, or the reasoning for my inventory.

Simply put, many people have many many items and collectibles and it is growing increasingly hard to store them all efficiently. More bank tabs would help, and not hurt anyone, in fact it would be more profitable for Anet. So continue to feel as though you need to argue simply to argue, your comments and attitude do not bother me one bit, and do not invite constructiveness to the discussion at hand.

For me to jokingly call myself a hoarder is one thing, but for you to actually say I have the mental condition that coincides with this condition just makes you look ignorant. Obviously I can act how I want in a fake game that allows me to do pretty much anything I like that I enjoy within the confines of its programming. My actions in game do not reflect my real world personality and in no way are detrimental to my life.

Geotherma.2395

Here’s an idea:
Stop hoarding.

If you aren’t actually using any of those items in your storage, then why even keep them?

You have a mountain of black lion harvesting equipment, but it is completely useless if all it does is sit in your bank all day long.

Use some of it, or delete it.

Simple as that.

(black lion kits as the exception)

The guy with the dyes is also comical.

That would have all been thrown into the mystic forge long ago, and I would have sold anything good that came out for $$$.

If you don’t have enough storage space, i guarantee you are just hoarding.

If you have purchased all available upgrade tabs, you cannot possibly fill all of said tabs in your bank with useful items.

Fill 50g worth of storage space with 2g worth of dyes …. LOGIC.

I spent real money on every item shown, you can call it hoarding, maybe it is. But unlike some people I will not just toss out money, it is simply stupid and a terrible idea. They are useful items and I have been using them on alts, but again I earned this cash, and I spent it. I refuse to toss it because someone, in their opinion, thinks because its not useful to them and its not their money that I should just discard. Ridiculous. And about the dyes, was closer to 80 gold worth, not 2g. Just sayen, I’dd do with my items as I please it was just an example. Also I don’t care about cash, I have commander title, have since month 3. I’ve put 800 gold into a personal legion JUST FOR FUN. I’ve bought 3000 moldy bags, just for fun to see what the drop rates were. I’ve bought 1000 rares to salvage with BLSK’s. I could care less about the money in game, it is worthless to me, I force myself to use it every 2 days, which is around 30-45g+. I keep items that mean something, or are prestigious, or just because they are convenient to have. Nothing just “sits” in storage, it all gets used daily by 11 alts in one way or another. Arenanet said “Play the game how you want”, I simply am. But then again, why should I have to justify to some random person how I play a video game?

Why don’t you use some of this stuff?

Especially the black lion gathering tools. Even if you’re not using them on the highest tier nodes it’s better than having them sitting in your bank taking up space while you pay out for regular tools to use.

Same with the salvage kits. I always keep one or two in the bank for when I really need it, but if I get more than that I start using them more often to use them up. They’re not JUST for getting ecto from rares you know.

Alternatively since most of your stuff seems to have come from opening BL chests you could save the chests for a while until you’ve used some of what you’ve got. That way you’ve only got one tab being used up.

As I’ve said before I am using them every single day, when you buy 50-100+ keys a month the supply doesn’t drop to 0… I started with over 100 of each type of item from BL chests, over time I’ve used them to farm, gather, kill etc. I’ve already mentioned I’ve been using these but I also have unlimited mining/gathering tools on my main.

Yeah, they put skins in these chests on the gem shop and then there is still the rng factor based into it, that isn’t fair, it might be if the gems you bought were going straight to Anet but they aren’t, they go to NcSoft and who knows what they spend the money on cause it sure isn’t game development when we still have bugs in game that have been in-game since launch, new bugs added with every single patch that don’t seem to get a fix and no one looking into anything like what the players really want just what the corporation big shots wants I guess.

There is no lack of misunderstanding how bugs and programming works on these forums. And throwing money at a problem like bugs does not guarantee a fix. And I could list a hundred things that were added at players suggestions, but I won’t because people who view the game like you are simply stuck in hate mode.
