Gifting items was a great addon to the game and I’ve already sent some friends items from the BLTC gem store. I was wondering if we will ever get an item or a way to send gem purchases that we have already made. I have many gem items and would like to send them to people for events etc, but currently we can only send directly from store. Will this ever be added?
so how many bank tab do you think should anet give us?
I’m not sure exactly, but some math could be done. I don’t personally know the numbers but I would imagine most people could agree that X amount would be for dungeon tokens, X amount for WvW items, X amount for gem store boosts etc, and LS event items should be in a event bag or separate table from character inventory like most other games. From there we have legendary items, rare items from BLTC, event/holiday items, armor sets. So really it is still on the style of play, but I’m sure some people could toss decent numbers or ideas at this and figure out a fair amount that would be good for 6months-1year. WvW items could be separate bag, gathering tools could stack higher, dungeon tokens separate bags, things like that would help. For right now until those ideas are implemented, if they are, at least 1-2 bank tabs could be added for LS items etc and to keep us happy for a bit-or at least me anyway :P
I’m definitely not saying it should be infinite, that would be very hard to manage personally.. But things can be done to remove generally needed items from that pool. For instance FFXIV doesn’t toss armor/weapons in your inventory, you have an entire separate armory for everything you find. And with the switch of a weapon change you become a different class and can equip any of the fitting gear. Just an example.
It is a nice bonus if you get lucky, I wouldn’t splurge for the chance at a free level though. I’ve gotten one so far, pretty rare as far as I can tell. I have gotten keys from mobs, gem store, and from opening boxes as well as story. Never open them “looking for something”, open them with a carefree attitude and be more happy if/when you get something unexpected.
there’s definitely ALOT of stuff in there you don’t need. Unless you farm 24 seven and salvage everything you get there is no sane reason for that many salvage kits. Nor is there a need for that many gathering tools, they only stack to 25 or so and frankly I’ve never noticed much of an improvement on the goods I get with them. if your not going to use those novelty hats or dolls get rid of them they do no good collecting dust. Why you would pre purchase styling kits in bulk is beyond me. Outdated holiday stuff like cogs can go, you’ll get them again next year or they’ll be useless because they change the event. Donate your influence potions to your guild and use your karma pots. Same with the food, fireworks, tonics and boosters. I can understand holding on to different armor sets, tokens, dyes or bulk quantities of mats but good lord man!
The issue isn’t needing more inventory space here, its inventory management. Yes the slogan is “play your way” BUT you have to understand there are still certain limits ALL players are saddled with to keep the game fair and inventory/bank space is one of them. If everybody could carry everything nobody would need to trade, buy or sell goods. Players would hold on to quest items indefinitely until they got around to making a new character bypassing the need to finish the event/heart in the intended manner. No soulbound items would mean gear and rare items loose their value and kills the integrity and challenge of getting them in the first place. Inventory space is the great equalizer that no player can completely bypass.
Everything you see is from BL chests, I never purchased any of those items outirght. Every single total makeover, hair style, is from a chest that i used a key on. I’d never waste gems on direct buy, when my chances have always been better through chests.
I’d prefer gathering tools stacked larger, more bank space for new LS items, and my influence is for personal use later on. I’d gladly send a few fine trans stones (I have over 260 now) to friends if I could. Also did not purchase them directly.
Some silly things like Polla is just there until I toss on my alts, and will move out and be replaced most likely. But the inventory continues to grow every patch due to rare, discontinued items I want to put on characters that are appropriate. I had 5 aether tickets, only 2 of my characters so far have fit well enough to use them.

40 character slots? Is this legit? Has anyone actually tried it? Lol.
Make every race, sex, and class combination… TWICE.
The GW2 wiki actually says there is no limit to the amount of character slots you can have. However, I personally never meet anyone with more than about 40.
I’m curious how you get so many BL tools as well…
I play every day and since early release and I’ve gotten maybe 4% of what you apparently have coming out of your ears.
Like really, how is it possible? Here’s a suggestion: STOP BUYING BL KEYS AND OPENING CHESTS! You have enough of everything, just stop already! Wait until your supply is low then maybe open some more.
Umm maybe he farmed BL keys(yes you can farm them and it’s legit) and wanted to get something that only drops from the BL chests like lets say permanent contracts and such. Also there’s nothing wrong with people spending gems on keys it supports the game.
There is if that same person complains he doesn’t have enough space for the stuff he’s farming….sounds like a self-control issue to be honest. It’s very simple: DONT USE YOUR KEYS ALL AT ONCE! Keys take up one slot, chests take up one slot. If you open every god-kitten chest and then complain you have no room then you are a bloody moron. You run out of harvesting tools? Ok, use a couple of keys. But for heaven’s sake don’t use every key, fill your bank, and then continue to use your keys and complain you have no room. OP needs to learn management IMO. Use the keys as you need to, not when you want to. Sure the temptation to get goodies can be overwhelming, but that’s where the self-control comes in…
Also the argument: I’m not gonna throw away money by deleting items is the same argument hoarders make for why they won’t throw out old tupperware or clothing they never wear or infomercial items they’ve never used. “It’s a waste! I may use it some time later!” they think. Yea…..it’s a waste also if you never use it, which most of the time they never ever do. Now it’s a waste and takes up valuable space.
Difference: Real life actually affects your life and family. Digital items affect no one, and they are organized neatly. Again, my money, my choice. I use them as I’ve stated several times, they replenish quickly, as I’ve stated several times. This isn’t about me, this is about all those who have event, dungeon, random items that keep building up due to LS events and holidays who need space.

I get them because I can, when “ecto nerf threads” pop up I use them all and make around 100g. For your other answer, see the above reply.
I wish they’d make stacks larger-sized. For instance all of those stacks of 25 could easily be made into stacks of 200 or something. They should really consider this. You can only buy so much bag and bank space. I, too, hate the idea of bank alts.
Exactly one of my suggestions, why do gathering tools stack in 10’s and 25’s >.> People like me really need 50+ stacks or something for space saving and to toss on alts.
I love how people skim and don’t read. I use my BL kits I replenish that many monthly, sme with boosts. Holy cow people missed the entire paragraph where I clearly said I use all those items frequently and then obtain more.
How do you get so many kits and harvesting items? I mean I have 125 unopened chests because I’ve only ever found like 5 keys since launch. And I don’t think it’s worth buying keys with real money when there’s perfectly good stuff at the vendor for silver.
I really have nothing else to buy in game, and I can’t play as often lately, I buy between 100, 200, 250 keys at times just to have some fun and get kits etc. Also to get more keys as well. When more MMO’s release my time/money will split more evenly and efficiently.
And I refuse to destroy money, literally. Only a moron would spend as much as that then click destroy.. use some common sense. And again each of my toons has about a row or two of the gathering tools they use and I have 12 alts, and again… I do use all of the things but they get replenished. Basically the only advise people have given is trash my money, and somehow play more to use up these items faster… I see why so many are headed to FFxiv, this community is slowly turning..

Just create a bank alt.
Seriously. It’s not that hard to create a new alt and plant him at Rata Sum. Most of the items there you won’t even use for a long period of time, like all your BL kits, 10 Pollas (srsly?), or BL tools.
This isn’t about creating more inventory spaces. It’s about inventory management.
Creating a bank alt is not how “I” play, I don’t believe in bank alts taking up space. Also they would be carrying items soulbound to another character, which would be annoying to have to move, or remember which character over time. Again, this is how I feel it should be managed, and if you think buying a new character space to pack junk into is a necessity and a wanted theme in game, then I simply disagree. You can’t manage all these items flooding into the game, you can’t manage keeping all your stuff in ONE place, THAT is the problem. Again, mules is not how I play, and the game touts that playing our way is essential. I’m not asking for a revamp of guild wars 2, I’m not asking for a perfect game, I’m not even asking for freebies, I’m simply asking for more space.
I do use my BL tools, I use that many in about a month and replenish again-because I can. So yes all those items rotate in and out as i make new characters and the items you mentioned like Polly are no longer available, and can be put on new characters. Planning for the future, holding onto rare/unobtainable things is part of why in most games when new classes come etc, people like me have 2 year old items no one has on them. Over 10 years of gaming, and this has always been the case. You say “Seriously, it’s not that hard to create an alt.” I say seriously it’s not that hard to give us more space, and take our money.
Don’t forget I do large tests like the salvage ones with thousands of rares, I also host events almost weekly and drop bonfires, boxes, and give away things. So if I was into dungeons, if I was into fractals, I’d need more space even if I never did an event or stat test ever in my entire time playing.
(edited by Geotherma.2395)
With all the bi weekly updates, events, new items, new currencies, it really feels like we need some more organization options in the game. Currently I’m maxed out on bank tabs, maxed on inventory tabs, and I do not have “mule” characters or accounts. My bank is pretty much full with various soulbound/accountbound/rare items from the game both the core of it and the living story arcs. I feel that if we will continually have more event items, more weapon skins/armor skins etc, that we need an upgrade. This isn’t so much a suggestion as a need imo. Imagine someone with 5 or 6 favorite dungeons trying to hold all their tokens for future gear, or players who do every new LS event. You can max out your bank on core items only, to add event items, armor sets, prestigious/rare/never returning items to it, just makes it seem overwhelming without the proper space.
Players shouldn’t have to make personal guilds for bank space, and soulbound/account bound items won’t go in anyway. And players shouldn’t also have to use alts to carry all there items either as most of us play all our characters and don’t like a useless character sitting there as a bank. Most MMO’s like Aion, FFXIV, and others allow a separate bag in inventory for event items or armor. As well as either much much bank/inventory storage upgrades to hold all our stuff. I doubt players mind paying for more bank tabs, or even if event bags are made, expanding those for gems. I feel that I speak for many of us when I say there currently isn’t enough space for us to house what we want on our characters, and that some system like event bags or simply more space should be provided soonish. The bi weekly events are great, and I’ve enjoyed most of the LS and game itself.
But if your going to toss hundreds of new “carry-able” things in the game, we will need a place to put them. I may not have all necessary items only, or even items people feel should be in a bank, but the game is meant to be played how we like. In this spirit of the game I believe we should be allowed to have more inventory to hold onto the things “we” value, whether others value them as much or not. Thanks for your time, I added a pic of my current bank, please keep any nonconstructive thoughts to yourself. And no this isn’t an entitled thread, I believe everyone will need or does need more space now or very soon in the future for this content. PS. The picture doesn’t show the 20 stacks of gathering tools spread among all my characters and taking up space. Wish they stacked higher.. Also I haven’t been playing as much so the extra items are for my newer characters when they are made in the future.

This is turning into one big “You can sell your account and they can never know, so go ahead!” thread. Good job.
People will go on thinking Anet can’t find sold/transferred accounts. And people will keep posting in account forums complaining about their bans :P It is against the rules to do so, feel free to test it at your own risk. I wouldn’t recommend it though, companies have far more tools than people realize. But if being ignorant is peoples “thing” than so be it I guess :P
Its much simpler than the other replies have mentioned. Someone tried to log into your account through some means (usually phishing). You went to the official website (good choice) rather than a link, and tried to make a password.
Here is where you ran into the problem you mentioned. The reason is that hackers/rmt/phishing websites have found thousands of passwords from old accounts in GW and other mmo’s that people use on more than one account. So if they can link an email with an old password they get to log in. To avoid this and protect your account Arenanet instituted a Password block feature that makes it so those passwords can never be used again. Also they added the removal of silly passwords like: Password, password1, etc etc. It can at times be troublesome but is for your protection. Simply use a non generic, difficult password that you have never used on any other account and you should be fine. if you have need for further assistance email support and they can help you.
It’s “one owner per account, forever.” No sales, trades, pass-alongs, give-aways, use as a prize, recycling… Once the original owner is done, the account will remain accessible to that person but cannot be supported for anyone else.
Sharing or passing-along game accounts is strictly forbidden by the User Agreement.
Excuse for the offtopic but, are you aware that that doesn’t apply for games sold in Europe? As Oracle and Steam already know, reselling used software is allowed
I want to add to that -
realistically, how can you actually police and enforce such a policy? To me it seems impossible.
The policy is fine and I completely agree with the reasons for it, just curious.
MMO’s aren’t new to piracy, phishing, hacking, and trading. They have tools to see and detect certain things like IP changes, location changes, and much much more to deal with security breeches. Many are setup to remove RMT and exploiters etc, many many internal programs that allow them to monitor and pursue issues with their program. Once found, they will lock the account and notify the original owner. They will then have to dispute the charge in order to retain their copy unless they broke the TOS or UA to the point where a ban was necessary. No system is perfect, and even mistakes can happen. But in 2013 cybersecurity is probably the most advancing type of security on the planet. With corporate security breeches, government breeches on the rise it is imperative that every company maintain a certain standard which keeps raising every year. For every hacker there is a person writing a code to stop them and vice versa. It is a never winning battle which is costly to both parties. So rest assured they have the means to identify such breeches, to deny access to those accounts, and through the legal agreement prosecute if the severity seems fit.

If anet starts lacking and giving people slack, sooner or later map chat will look like Tera global chat or Aion LFG. If anyone has played those games you know exactly what I’m talking about.
It would be nice if they didn’t make them limited time items on the gem shop, does anyone know if they plan on bringing them back from time to time to buy if you missed them?
I foresee them putting all three back on the BLTC at the end. Hopefully when NOTHING else is on the BLTC worth buying. Because all 3 tools would cause quite the spike in gem>gold gold>gems, one of those. I can just imagine how much 100 gems would cost people gold>gems if they put all 3 tools, aether weapon skins, and new boosts on there at the same time.
Using Dye Remover (circled X on top of the gear) gives you the original colors.
Ah ok that worked better lol. Still looked a lil different but maybe its just me, I haven’t dyed anything in months heh
Bards are pretty interesting in some games. I’ve played FFXI, Aion (4.0), FFXIV (Beta ARR), and from the looks of what I’ve played or seen in in those games or in reading, a lot of people love this class. But sadly I think GW2 needs much more expansion onto the current classes and skills to make them less “dull”, and a tiny bit more complex.
The overly quoted “I swung a sword, oh look I swung a sword again.” even if out of context comes to mind. Because you have to continually spam an auto attack, which seems counter productive. Rather we should have autoattacks more flowing into our normal skills. Simply swinging an axe 5 different ways with no real interesting variation gets a bit bland.. Same with most class weapons/skills that I’ve seen.
So back to the bard, if they want to add new classes someday i really hope they can spiffy up the current ones and not push everyone to leave those. Because that is what happens in most MMO’s when a new class releases. All the core classes that are similar get left behind for the new shiny because it is much cooler. And even if the skills are exactly the same just named differently and delivered through different means, people will still feel like they have fresh gameplay. I think GW2 has much to do still in terms of core content before expansion content like this will be considered.

Are you serious??
Yes.
I got set up by bunch of chinese trolls bagging americans and had to reply back.
Specifically chinese people? And to call people racist things in retaliation was the smartest thing to do?
They all report me but i didn’t report me.
You didn’t report yourself? I’m amazed, you should have.
How is my first ever offense a 3 day ban?? no warning or anything…this is ridiculous
There is no grey area to disrespectful, racist, childish antics such as these in this game.
“While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players. This includes posting insulting, offensive, or abusive comments about players, repeatedly sending unwanted messages, reporting players maliciously, attacking a player based on race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated.”
^ Every single time you press “Play” you accept these terms and others. You can avoid being banned by not accepting these terms, which in turn will not allow you to play. Learn from your mistakes, come back in 3 days, try not to throw racial slurs at people in a video game.

I would like a tool that harvests Gems, wow that would be epic.
Update XX.XXX.X
Players now have the rare chance to get 1 gem from harvesting any nodes. Chances are not affected by which tool used.
Does anyone know the default color scheme for these? I really only liked the default blue and brown colors in preview, but skinned and can’t seem to find the right colors lol..
I have pretty much every dye, so I just need to figure out which goes where.
Spoiler, look away….
Yeah, we know that the dungeon map has problems with scaling and shows things in places that conflict with the original, “outside” map. Hardly a spoiler.
I added dots, many dots.
Don’t worry guys, Dragon weapon skins really ugly.
A few days ago bought 500 coffers and got 4 tickets from the first 100 coffers.
Still can’t realise what to buy – dislike all skins…
I think the shield is epic looking, thats just me though. Too bad my charr is already outfitted with brahms stuff, it wouldn’t fit his style.
“Critics of the free-to-play approach are concerned that if players that paid for special items subsequently become better at a multiplayer game than those who did not purchase the same items, then it will not be as enjoyable as other games since players who paid more money are more successful than those who simply rely on skill. These games are known as “Pay-to-Win” (often abbreviated P2W)12 games. Instead, some suggest that payments should only be used to broaden the gaming experience without affecting the game play itself. They also claim that the secret is in finding the balance between a game that makes players want to pay for extra features to make the game more special, while also ensuring that players who decide not to pay do not feel as though they are getting an inferior product. The theory is that players who do not pay for items in a game would still increase awareness of the game through word of mouth marketing, which ultimately benefits the game indirectly even though it does not directly receive income from a specific player. A common concern about the free-to-play model is whether or not free games have to constantly request that the player buy extra content in order for them to survive or continue in the game, and if so, at what point does it become an annoyance or make the player feel uncomfortable about it.5"
The definition of pay to win is becoming more successful through purchases than those who spend no money. You are not more successful due to a shiny new look, you may think so, but you are not. I have over 20 unique, rare, hard to obtain items that will probably never be in game again. Do I feel like I’m better than other players who didn’t spend cash on them? Absolutely not. You can try to redefine the term as much as you like but you could do the same with any definition. The definition is there for a reason, and while it can be interpreted slightly different in some cases, this one does not apply.
Do you think a man in Africa with no job, no house, in poverty stricken land is any better than those who sweat and bleed for money to support their family’s just because he has a fancy suit? At the end of the day what you look like in terms of clothing (in game) has no effect on how amazing, how terrible, how special you are to ANYONE ELSE. It is your perspective on the game that you feel your wares make you feel special, well that is just fine. But that feeling is for you and you alone, it affects no one else unless perhaps you have a stalker or some cult following. Saying an outfit is somehow an advantage over others or pay to win is about as nonsensical as saying that because I have a Nike shirt I’m somehow as good or better than a pro athlete. there is no comparison there, it makes no sense whatsoever.
You may judge yourself and others on looks, but most of us do not. Most of us value skill over looks, over gear, over achievements, over just about anything. You can be the prettiest princess in Tyria and have every cute backpack in your bank, but to everyone else you are just another person who got lucky or had money to buy stuff from an optional game store.
Spoiler, look away….
Im really interested in whats going on there. Doesn’t that side of the map tie into an area that the Tengu are guarding and refer to as their new “home”? I wonder if the Aetherblade area is going to double as the Tengu capital or it the Dominion of the winds went the way of Cantha.
Spoiler, look away….
When you die in wvw and come back I’m pretty sure you get this boon for a little bit. I don’t wvw much so maybe a pvper can clarify better.
Rapier?
I’ve been waiting for one of those since the first Guild Wars!
So hurry up and vote on how you would like them to pop into game before the choice gets made for you ^^ Also, if you don’t care much for the weapons and just want to provide feedback on your best ideas for how to implement upcoming weapon skins that’s fine too.
Not sure what you mean, the decision was made months ago, when the content was designed.
The RNG system has changed several times. -See past events.
Each time it is as if they are trying to find a right way, or at least an acceptable way to deliver rare prestigious items. Fused weapon skins were not delivered the same as southsun, and so on and so on. So I started the thread to give feedback on what players would like to see done with hopefully the Aether weapons when/if they come. As always our feedback is what drives the game, here is an outlet for that very purpose. Some may argue it is all for nothing, but here isn’t the place for that. This thread is directed at those responsible for the changes, those who care enough about the community to listen, and the community itself who comprise and carry this game month after month. So yes, decisions may have been made long ago, but as humans we can change those decisions as we see fit. I see no better time than now to use customers wishes to produce something we can all benefit from, whilst keeping the rarity and epicness of the items in question.
[&AgGzqQAA]
And then there was “one”.
hmmm… the first post of this was 10 hours ago at the time I am writing this.
hmmm… you do realize that there is coding that must be done to be able to add items to whatever method is decided and that take a few days to weeks depending on how good the engine is.
So this vote is basically a waste of time
i abstain.
You are assuming the coding hasn’t already been done. I’m assuming neither, but being optimistic and proactive.
I think if the coding was done the Reddit data miners would have the codes for them by now, i believe the fact nothings popped up says they aren’t yet added..
You mean something like this? http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1glv88/has_anyone_put_up_a_gallery_of_all_the_new/

I want them from RNG chests, either from a dungeon or a BL chest. Rare drop rate is key.
I don’t want them handed out easily through achievements or as guaranteed drops from dungeons
That’s why I mentioned 1 per account, much like the fused gauntlets. I know it is a a difficult balance to keep them rare so they aren’t octo backpacks kind of rare.. Hopefully there will be a good balance if/when these are introduced and they take our suggestions into consideration. Which was the purpose of my post.
I would throw money at them if these weapons were permanently available (as well as not hidden behind betting boxes, but we’d sooner see sharks grow arms, legs, the ability to breathe air and shoot lasers from their eyes than see weapon tickets as purchases).
*Sharks now have legs, fire lasers from their heads, and can walk on land. We implemented this change to mirror sparks previous change and to add overall epicness to sharks.
I just have the razer naga minus the wireless function. Always somethen I don’t like about wireless hardware..
Could be drivers, usb ports, interference, lots of things I suppose. Try all the basics, maybe submit a tech support email. Gl.
We have one “mount” so far that I know of, the broom stick that you ride. I think a gem store option to purchase Aetherblade boots that make you float slightly off the ground would be a nice next step. They would share the same qualities as other things like being removed upon combat, no speed buffs etc. What are your thoughts?
No mesmer in GW2 has ever wanted these.
-Said no one ever.
If you add these you will see the mesmer forums explode. Just sayen
How DO you want to get them?
How DON’T you want to get them?
My opinion:
If they must be from RNG boxes-
1. Please put them in BLTC chests.
2. Please allow 1 in game method of earning at least 1. (Achievement)
3. Please evaluate the rarity of them from chests.
4. Please do NOT put them in a separate chest with lesser rewards.
5. Maybe let them drop rarely from the dungeon. (Along with any other cool rewards that may come with this arc.)
Side note-
We can gift now, (some) people who have the gems to spend/give who get all the tickets they want will be able to gift keys. Keys get you other items aside from just the tickets (if done this way) and is much better reward than candy etc.
So hurry up and vote on how you would like them to pop into game before the choice gets made for you ^^ Also, if you don’t care much for the weapons and just want to provide feedback on your best ideas for how to implement upcoming weapon skins that’s fine too.
Ill get this but it doesnt complete my trio because i didnt get the Mining Axe and now its too late. Please bring back the all 3 for people who missed out.
Wait a few weeks, watch the TP. Look for a certain set to appear (for a limited time only). No promises tho :P
It’s time for Evon Gnashblade to buy out the Consortium, shove a plush quaggan in Noll’s mouth and take over Southsun Cove where he will invent PLUSH KARKAS!
Omgoodness torn between wanting to squeeze the plush karka or burn it in a fire…
Geotherma,
That is another, albeit rare, issue. It most likely happens when you open the Gem Store right as the server is updating. (That happens more-often than you’d think.)
We’re working on trying a few different solutions to fix it. In the meantime, let me apologize for the inconvenience it causes you.
Thank you. When you add the purchase ceiling and this bug, it leads to something unpleasant between the equivalent of 5 paper-cuts and stubbing a toe that is already broken. :P
Some of the individual items look pretty sweet. It’s not a style that any of my current characters would pursue, but there is some stuff in there that I wouldn’t mind to pick up. I think I like the light pants, some of the helmets and shoulders, and the medium chest (male only) the best.
But I always mix’n’match, I wouldn’t want to go “full clockwork”.
Never go “full clockwork”.
Which stack? normal one or Rich one?
Rich.
Yes for me. Was a lucky first drop from a stack I had but they do drop.
Just in case, you checked all the silly things right? Like capital letters or spacing? I think one of those doesn’t affect the outcome, I forget which at the moment. I think spacing. Or try relogging and trying again.
It’s actually simple. alot of players are so filthy rich in-game and in real life, that USD 1000 is peanuts to them to throw at Arenanet’s direction.
The reason people buy all this RNG stuff is because they are rich, they just want to show off and they have to make me jealous……..
