We should farm Skritt. They seem to be the only enemy that drops them.

I got 2 in Orr, can’t remember which mob since it was during an event. Had to do a double take when I seen them in my inventory lol

“It’s worth noting, the X-files conspiracy comment was directly responding to the theory something changed in the November release that made it all suddenly worse that has been perpetuated since Lost Shores. _We confirmed nothing what so ever changed in November,_ as we posted after a complete investigation into all parts of that release, thus the comment. Probably not worded the best on my part, but please take the time to read the actual comment in context and don’t apply it to other situations that had nothing to do with the remark.
As posted within the loot discussion thread, we did exactly what we said we would do: we completed our investigation of the November release and all loot tables and found no issues what so ever, we immediately let the community know no issues were discovered from the changes in the November release.
We then expanded the search to other parts of the game, here we found issues that had existed since launch and have both let you know about them, and will be correcting them.
To those who theorized there were issues since launch with qualifying for loot, you were indeed correct and your tinfoil hat is justified, thanks very much for helping us find this issue! November however, remains an X-files level conspiracy that has been debunked. There ya go”

geotherma are u being paid by anet? Loot drops did change after Nov 15th, even Anet said so after 3 months of pr bs. Your complete disregard to evidence does not change that fact and your comprehension skills could use improvement before you gallivant your biased opinions.

They said nothing changed nov 15th its in the post that I’m really tired of copying and pasting…

They also said (in November patch notes) that it did change. Now, what should we believe?

Yes, the increased everything.. not the opposite.

Added new crafting materials as part of the Lost Shores update.
Crafted Halloween potions are no longer account bound.
The mighty Zommoros has slightly increased the drop rate on Legendary precursor weapons from the Mystic Forge from both Rares and Exotics.
The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.
The amount of loot that drops for downscaled players has been increased. You should now be able to receive level-equivalent loot until you are fighting at a downscaled level that is less than 2/3 of your actual level. You should also receive loot a greater percentage of the time as well as receiving a greater percentage of experience, gold, and karma. For level 80 characters, this means level 55+ areas will be able to drop level 80 gear and give about 75% or so of the other rewards. Previously, these areas would give level 77 gear at best and closer to 60% or so of your rewards.

“After reading reports in this thread, we spent more time investigating our rewards system. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we verified that all loot tables are indeed working correctly in the game. Since then, we continued receiving reports that there seemed to be an issue, so we extended our search to all systems that created opportunities for you to get items from loot tables. Here we found an issue that we were able to verify was consistent across everyone who reported problems:
The rules by which you qualify for credit for an event or for experience when killing a mob are different rules than those used to help determine if you qualify for loot. Some of these were set up to be unintentionally restrictive, and as such you could kill a creature with a lot of health (this was most noticeable on champions) and not qualify for loot, despite qualifying for all other credit.
For the February Flame & Frost: The Gathering Storm release we will be repairing this issue to ensure more players are capable of earning loot credit for kills. This should fix the issue such that you got credit for killing a champion, but received no loot from it. Once fixed, all champion mobs will correctly always drop 1 blue or better loot item, and all veterans will have a chance of dropping loot better than regular mobs as outlined in the November release. Please note, it is still possible to kill a creature and not do enough damage to qualify for loot (which is the only way you won’t get loot for a champion), it is also still possible for veterans to not drop loot at all, since they simply have better odds of dropping loot than normal creatures but no guaranteed drops.
On top of this, we’re also updating some of the loot in various areas of the game for the February release that should make specific areas more rewarding. We’ll cover this is in detail with the February release notes.
Thanks very much for all your feedback and reports, that information has proved incredibly useful!”

The cool part about mysterious tonics is you can mystic forge them into exactly which transform you want. My favorite so far is the Floater Tonic When I’ve purchased a large amount of keys I do notice that i get more than my “gems” worth. Which is always nice, and the free total makeover was a plus ^^

No, never!! I never spend gold or gems on anything RNG reliant. Too much of a gamble for too small of a chance of reward. The whole RNG system for this stuff is just not transparent enough for my taste. Even lottery tickets tell you what the odds of winning are.

Bad thing about fraps is it makes several files @3.9g each. Wish it could record in .mp4 format so the files wouldn’t be so large.

Its good if you have a large harddrive. Then just use a program to compress, windows movie maker works fine. Then delete original. A lil more work but good quality.

But I’m just some nobody in a game, what do I know..

You and me both, but we both apparently like to argue. ;-) The reality for me is that I gave up on loot drops long ago since they’ve essentially been hopeless for so long. While I enjoy the game more after giving up, I’ll never look at GW2 with the same grandeur as I did in the pre-November days. I now class it in the same category as L4D2…no “real” point to it, just mindless killing for the sake of it, a game I can just jump on and not have to commit any substantial time. There is the social aspect I enjoy, but I’m not a social beast by nature, so even that will wane with time.

If loot is actually fixed in the next patch, perhaps in time this view will change, but it will certainly take a lot to get that sour taste out of my mouth.

There’s always TESO and FFXIV, and Destiny looks interesting. I’ve been 80 a while, unfortunately I’m not much into dungeons/fotm. So I don’t do much of the game that most do. I feel like there could be so much more stuff coming, and wish i could have tried harder not to level. Even though I tried my best not to speed through the game its like.. here I am in Orr. I can make a ton of money, but for what.. Or maybe the forums just depress me to the point where I don’t want to play because I feel like the only person enjoying the game. Kind of takes the fun out of the game.

One problem with that. People have been actively counting the stars, there’s a big difference between assumption/anectdotal evidence and counting the exact number one receives especially in the cases where PermaDR has set in on top of the bug that’s already there causing the only person killing a champion to receive nothing.

Specifically, one can count the number of Ambulances on each full moon to determine if indeed that is an increase or decrease of hospital ER visits which is what the playerbase has done. Numbers don’t lie.

But people do.

Very few people offered unedited videos of what they do with their time. Players were unable to post logs do to the removal of that system. Without said evidence its all just hearsay.

I think you’re putting too much faith in to a corporate entity. ANet are “people” too right? …Business as usual.

You do realize, with enough hearsay, it becomes true to the masses and at that point it doesn’t matter what the truth is anymore? Religions, past and present, have been exploiting this principle for many millennium. Anet had a chance to nip this in the bud months ago. Now it’s spun out of control, almost becoming a “cause” and and if they don’t deal with it, it will result in lost players…plain and simple. LOTS of players are waiting to see what happens with this patch.

I don’t put any faith in a company, simply in the business model. The main theme is making money by people playing the game, enjoying it, and purchasing gem store things to support its growth. If the company truly was all for ruining the game, what sense does that make.. Why would they in all honesty kitten over everyone? For fun? I mean really.. But seriously people will either listen and do their own homework or not, these ongoing complaints are enough to make anyone not want to play the game or simply never ever ever come back to these forums. Such a shame..

This wouldn’t surprise me at all. Many a company and/or products were sunk by incredibly short-sighted get-rich-quick business decisions.

As for new players coming n, I would hope they would do their research. Player review is the best kind of review. Critic reviews are often paid for and/or based on pre-release products, so they’re not as reliable.

http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/guild-wars-2

They should be looking here and wonder why 20% of the user reviews are negative.

Reviews aren’t everything. Many people can agree that something is good, not meaning that thing is right. Some examples: Germany, Hiroshima, Vietnam. Its a rather long list. But people need to be wary of these forums because reviews don’t make a game, players do. Forums don’t make a community alone, the people actually in the game do. And I’ve yet to meet anyone as closed minded and so easily agitated as the people on the forums. I highly doubt Arenanet is a get rich quick plan.. Concidering they have more than just this game invested. But I’m just some nobody in a game, what do I know..

Cause the chest rewards are also on the gem store ^^; and the gem transactions are what fund content.

sarcasm or ignoring the points intentionally?

If you drop tons of keys why would anyone buy the keys or items off the gem store.. idk what else to say.. This seems pretty obvious.

Hmm… before 11/15 patch (or earlier nobody knows) we had 2-3 rares per event. It was not 1 day. It was many hours and many days in a row, then 11/15 patch boom – less rares (patch promised more rares). Now 3+ months in a row we have 2-3 rare / hour.

It is not randomness when many people see same image for long time.

May be it is because we had more loot (in numbers) and from them more rares (because big numbers give more chances). I don’t know. We will see if the february patch will solve this problem.

P.S. They fight against exploits too aggressively imho.

I get about 1 rare per 2 events, this sounds like less but I did not play back then so I cannot be sure. Either way this thread has become increasingly irritating.. No offense to people who posted constructively.

So I’m unsure what the problem is. The vet/champ problem was addressed, its being worked on. I’m not sure what more people want other than to be spoon fed rares and exotics.

C’mon man you participated in the other thread. Those of us affected with the problem aren’t asking for freebies or even steady flow of rares/exotics. I see lots of people who say they get 3-4 rares per session in Orr. We’re just looking to be brought up to average, nothing more.

As an aside…
Someone had suggested changing a build for the situation, but the armor and weapons are only half the build. You have traits that must be rejigged to work well with the new build. Well that costs 40s and for someone like myself, if the RNG gods are feeling particularly stingy, this can be entire day’s profit.

I do think build matters somewhat. Since many complain about not doing damage. Those geared for dungeons wearing defensive gear will have trouble tagging. Honestly I do not run dungeons so I can say that I have the Knights gear for my warrior, but fully dps build otherwise. This could be a large factor in the problem next to the initial launch bug that needs to be adjusted. I was the first person to post the HD video of the veteran dropping no loot, the veteran dropping a porous bone from chest. I have no problem assisting in showing anything wrong with game. But i don’t blatantly call them out on every aspect like some do without investigating the issue myself, unless of course it is beyond my means ie. programming.

Procastrinating until it’s too late is built-in the genetics of every dev in the world.

I know this is a joke but I’ll answer as a software developer (its my job). Please keep in mind that this is my experience and isn’t necessarily true for the whole industry.

We do not procrastinate because we never stop working. No matter what I’m doing (also my colleges from what we discuss) I’m always thinking how to solve scripting issues (even at home in bed looking at the clock and it say’s 2:00am).

This isn’t by choice mind you, and it is something I have come to accept as a necessary evil. I have solved so many scripting issues while in the shower, cooking, on the tram, walking the dog, playing Guild Wars 2 and even when overseas on holiday. It’s never done consciously, it just happens.

Trying to explain the complexities of a script to someone who isn’t actively building scripts on a daily basis is like hitting your head against a brick wall, you may as well try and teach evolution to a fundamentalist christian, it can’t be done.

This is exactly how chapter 1 to chapter 2 felt in college. Like learning to crawl, then next step is learning to create an artificial intelligence that can route traffic to over 30 countries that is on a space station, on mars, and the directions are in Arabic. :P

That statement was made towards people who said that the November patch changed loot. Which it did not. The problem has been from the beginning, not from that day. So the statement still holds true.

You know what man, you can defend them, and they’re going to say whatever they PR people tell them to say, but as someone who has been around since ~August I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that something changed in November.

Exactly. Something DID change in November they added DR for one and they messed with the loot tables to supposedly adjust the drop rates of solely “unidentified dyes” however we all know from the short history of this game title that they have bugs when the fix other bugs. They admitted to it both things. I hate to burst Geo’s bubble but DR and adjusting the loot tables for 1 item absolutely has an effect on every other loot item drop in the game. So yes they still need to apologize to the public, they still need to remove DR until they can make sure that it’s absolutely 100% not going to bug out and they still need to admit that the loot is not the same as it was prior to November. Everyone who started playing on launch day and who has played since knows this to be true despite the denials of those who are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

I’m not trying to be demanding I really am not I am just working from the standpoint that customer service needs a serious glance and that they need to improve gameplay for players not hinder it.

I’m also working from the standpoint that clearly there is a priority problem in the company, that things like squashing bugs that are still here since launch on both classes and zones doesn’t seem to be a priority with this team. (DR being one of them, it’s obivous that there’s a permaDR problem when whole chests disappear or people get nothing on end for months except porous bones and some whites.)

I’m confused then as my videos and experience show me with some pretty epic Event DR and getting green and yellow drops. Furthermore, even though I stay in orr for over 6 hours, same mobs, still make the same amount of gold. So you can feel as though you burst my bubble all you like, I’m in game farming and hit 20g before lunch. This is where I go to see what everyone is up to when they aren’t in game.

If I want to get my karma and buy some boxes then I simply exit stage left to maw or a dragon, and continue to grind. This is by far the easiest game I’ve ever played in both leveling and money making aspects. But to each their own I guess, I enjoy the game and hope to see the new changes and the world grow long after all the qq is gone, I’ll be here.

I’m not defending anyone, I posted unbiased info in the threads just as others did. I make 2g/hr in orr simply off bags and regular drops. On a full day of no afk work i can make over 30g never even touching a dungeon or leaving Orr. So I’m unsure what the problem is. The vet/champ problem was addressed, its being worked on. I’m not sure what more people want other than to be spoon fed rares and exotics. Neither of which i even think about until I get them, in which case feels like it should, rare. 669 hours over 58 days, a very steady grind, and I can say loot seems fine other than the vets/champs. But I’m not here to criticize others way of playing, this is just my experience. And it’s been the same crossed both the accounts in my house, so I’m unsure what makes me so special that this doesn’t affect me. Other than that I have a much larger statistical number of drops to average than most. I would love to have played when these drops that people speak of were far superior, as I’d be doing incredibly right now. We need a new villain, zombies are cool but they inhabit a ton of the world.. and get a lil repetitive.. Pirates? Flying red slipper monkeys? Player VS Arenanet employees in swat team skins? I’m open to ideas.

I was loading my cart with them too quick and hit DR so one of the sales assistants came and took them all away from me.

Clearly Arenanet has lost control of their Laurel idea, first its one a day, now we need to buy them at an overpriced bedding store or do crazy daily chores for 1 free. Next they will tell us they have a new form of currency to add on to the 8 currencies we already have.. Just the other day I tried to revive a female employee at BB&B with mouth to mouth, before I knew it I was perma-banned.. the gall of some people.. And wasn’t even offered an appeal process.

I’m exposed to enough drama in real life, I’d rather not experience it in game.

GG! Drama makes you feel fun!

Nope, I don’t think this is the right game for you if that’s your attitude. It’s not a bad thing to want these features, but this game was not marketed that way and probably won’t change.

I mean, the name of this game is “Guildwars”. It is not making sense that guild cant not fight other guilds at least. we suppose to fight other guild, or people, instead fighting zhaitan!

Guild wars had to do with lore, not with the players doing guild vs guild.

I think we have met the guy who griefs lowbies in the other 8 mmos, pvp’s undergeared people in the other 5. Sorry, Guild Wars 2 left the drama for the drama llama who has recently been moved to eastern Europe for treatment of strained work load.

You can GVG in WVW technically, just on a different server. You can sPVP against guild mates for practice. This game makes sure kittens like these don’t kitten everything the kitten up. So if you can’t handle the lack of lame drama from lesser MMO’s you will just have to move on. Because we are not kittening around here, this is srs bsns. For the kittens.

“Guild Wars 2 isn’t one of those games that masquerades as free-to-play but is really designed so that you can’t get far without having to buy lots of microtransactions. We recognize that customers paid $60 for the game and they have the right to play the full game. So the microtransactions we offer are non-essential additions to the game and convenience services for players who want to trade money for time.”
-Mike O’Brien

Hehe, its all optional ^^

Yea, I haven’t run into anything on the black lion store that wasn’t optional, so that’s one of the few quotes from O’Brien that seems to still hold true.

Yes it is very true that buying black lion keys is an expensive optional luxury. It’s just a shame that this is this case since the permanent contracts are very desirable items. I would actually rather have a permanent self-style hair kit over any legendary heh.

Maybe if we ask really really nice, possibly with clothing optional, they will put perma into an event. I’m scared to say put on gem store as they promised never to allow gem store to give players unfair advantage. But for $1200 USD you too can own every permanent convenience item :P

Since we can rotate dailes, my addition is:

Engage in non work-related “duties” with 2 customers and don’t get caught by the boss 0/2 (0%)

Loot Dro kitten ue Confirmed: Feedback Thread

I personally would like to see three things come out from this.

  1. an apology to the players who were accused of having an overactive imagination and “perceiving” the loot issue, and being accused of concocting an xfiles conspiracy theory.
  2. a direct method of purchasing T6 materials from a karma/laurel vendor (materials like Powerful Bloods, Gossamer Scraps, Onyx Lodestones) that are so rare they might as well be antimatter.
  3. the permanent removal of DR until the bugs in it and the dial that has it turned up so high can be properly adjusted so that it no longer affects players, along with the destruction of the mechanic that requires that people teleport to not get hit by it because that clearly only benefits the bots with the illegal gold-farming teleport software.

One can hope.

What is entirely sad is that it was a direct quote, in their words, calling this whole debacle an “X-files type conspiracy”. Slaps in faces, their should definitely be an appy-polly-logie for this one.

That statement was made towards people who said that the November patch changed loot. Which it did not. The problem has been from the beginning, not from that day. So the statement still holds true.

“It’s worth noting, the X-files conspiracy comment was directly responding to the theory something changed in the November release that made it all suddenly worse that has been perpetuated since Lost Shores. We confirmed nothing what so ever changed in November, as we posted after a complete investigation into all parts of that release, thus the comment.

Lol!! Ok, first of all there is no ‘problem’ with the DR. Second, it has always been known that you need to do a certain percentage of damage to get loot. (Why else do you think people get into groups in cursed shore?) Clearly, since this is percentage based, that’s a lot of damage needed to be done to a champion (so get into a group!).

In short, there is nothing to fix. For all those who are complaining, get into a group so that you at least do the minimum damage to qualify for loot. Also, farm other areas once in a while, you will get hit with DR at cursed shore easily since you kill like a hundred mobs per shelter/pertinent event.

I only farm solo ^^ But I don’t usually decline an invite from a guildy heh

GW1 did charge for expansions and I played GW1 extensively and I own every expansion for it, and I didn’t have any issues buying and paying for those expansions because every single one added really great new content and they added tons of it. Thanks for bringing up the horrible story in which I’m sure a preschooler could have written better content. I used to be a huge GW2 fan until I stopped drinking the kool-aid. I still play the game regularly but GW2 is not what it was touted to be. Also DR pretty much stops any player from effectively farming a zone or a certain type of monster for some quick gold, because yes gold is everything in these games.

I’ve never played gw1, but I’m glad that the info was correct. While I agree the living story part 1 is a little lack luster it wasn’t considered a huge update. They want to slowly bring in things people have been asking for with these updates. They are building up to very cool changes that are based on content, mixed in the content updates are patches and fixes and ideas that the community asked for. But it takes time, and as you can see they had a messed up part of loot system from launch. So you can imagine they don’t want to roll out content that holds the same standard. As for DR, that discussion is long and been over posted so very much. I don’t know how it works as it doesn’t seem to affect my gameplay. However I have posted several videos of me farming Orr with a DR so heavy that I have gotten 75% less XP. And the drops still averaged 2g. I hope the various fixes can be implemented and over time content be pleasing to everyone. There is an ongoing theme to all of this though and that is “time”. Players time, devs time, content time, it all takes time. This is still a new MMO so I expect very little from it. But as far as MMO’s go it is clearly above all teh others I’ve played and it is considered the base of what MMO’s should start at by many players, developers, and reviews by large gaming companies/magazines.

I don’t have an answer to explain why others get what they get, I don’t even understand why players who party with me get better loot. I could probably tinfoil hat the crap out of every aspect of this game just for fun, but that’s a different thread.

After typing this I was farming orr and got my 2nd key drop ever lol.. I could tinfoil hat this one pretty bad.

probably because this game is not designed to be farmed.

What about when you need to craft something but you can’t ever get the items requied because of horrible drop rates? Just buy it right, well have fun doing that every time you need to do something. This brings up another issue, DR. Have fun farming for endless hours. You say it’s not designed to be farmed, but thats probably 80% of this game.

80% grind lol……….. Aion is 80%, FFXI is 250%. Everyone says mats, but which mats specifically are people looking for.

I realize other games are grind orientated, but this game was touted as a non-grind type, yet look at the achievements for WvW and some of the legendary requirements, these are two minor examples because there are many more.

But there needs to be something keeping people playing. You can’t just have everyone “beating” the game in a month. Its an MMO after all and requires consistent material to keep it interesting. These things are time sinks, optional at that. And they may require what some consider grind, but barely anything in this game is “essential” and the best things in game that aren’t about looks take very little time to achieve.

What will keep people playing is more content not weapons and skins which pretty much composes the end game now. They are time sinks however GW2 was never supposed to be that, maybe it was just viral marketing and they were being unhonest when they said it was a game for casuals. The last time PvE got real content was the lost shores event.

As far as I understood from some posts online GW1 charged you for expansions, whereas GW2 relies on sales of game and gem sales for content. So we will get content to keep us happy but the game is what 7 months old? Most people haven’t even experienced the game and now we have living story. Heck I hit 80 before I ever did a dungeon.. Which by the way if you don’t do it, you literally miss out as it will disappear. Anything grindy is optional, and content will come in time. I’d much rather prefer it comes steady and well done than quickly and poorly programmed. We don’t want a guild wars that is a windows xp upgraded to a windows vista.. We want good quality content, and that is what they are working on. but it takes time, and people need a chance to experience it. The living story alone is blatantly casual, it can be done in a day by hardcore players, but is easy enough for casual players to finish in a month of barely playing. Things like this is what people asked for, is not a huge expansion, its just the beginning.

last “nonpatch” bugged out achivments in case u havent noticed

only small note ofc reducing loot =more gemsales

thats the companymodel and im fine with it as long it gets announced and not some mysterious lootissue which cant be find in 3 month

I just don’t understand.. Nothing on the gem store is needed, and trading Gems for gold is an option. If your willing to spend hundreds to play an easy game like this the problem isn’t the game.. If you believe its truly about gem sales then don’t buy. And if the claimed large majority of the game is buying gems because of claimed loot reductions, then clearly Anet would go out of business if they were correct. People acting like Arenanet is some sort of Enron or something.. They want you to play, the gem store supports content. If no one plays, no one buys gems, no one supports content, game dies. Why would a growing business do this on purpose, it simply makes no logical sense. I’ve played for a little over a month and probably have made enough coin in game by just playing to fully exotic gear 12 players.. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose, but you don’t go in a casino and call the slot machine names when you don’t do well..

After reading that post, I see there was NO change in battle contributions. For instance, I do a lot of support and lower dps than most of my group mates, hence, less rewards if any for contribution. But if I did not support them, we might wipe or not succeed in downing a Champion at all.

It would have been nice to see them include SUPPORT contributions in their calculation so that you were rewarded for your level of contribution not just dps/damage.

Some games have this, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this in a future update.

Collin took the PR, and honestly, doing a fair and honest job so far. admitting mistakes/delays etc on top of the marketing speeches and community cooling.

nice work dude.

you cant be serious or?

loot is maybe rng for us players, but every loottable in game is fixed in the programmcode

so if anet tweaks arround to up gemsales, its not random at all and not bad luck

every serious discussion about lootissues got closed by some moderator, anet doesnt care at all as long the majority is happy and buys gems.

delay? lootissues are know since kraka event 15/11/2012 and who says nxt patch will improve anything. champion may drop a blue or not. fotm chests got nerfed, dragon chests and so on. anet isnt admitting anything and ask us players to write up lootissues.

my trust in this company who made an ace game is so small right now

patches getting deployed with no patchnotes, no hotifxes for current issues besides exploiting.

to the nice moderators dont remove this post again, this aint complain its just a loyal customer who gets fed up more and more.

Tweaks to up gem sales.. Gem sales of what? Spending $1 per 1g? If people need to do that they seriously are playing wrong.. Its always been an option, not a requirement. I’ve never needed to buy gems to make gold. Patches are usually routine updates, nothing special. Issues get closed because they are so flipping repetitive that you only need ONE post to discuss.. Anti Casual

There is a problem when you can gear up in WoW 50x faster than you can get full exotics in GW2.

For a game that isn’t supposed to have grind it sure has the most I’ve ever seen. So… from what I’ve gathered in the replies in this thread, as long as the journey isn’t difficult it’s considered casual? So even if it takes you months to get exotics that’s casual? Lol.

You MUST be trolling. Yes you get gear in wow fast, but Exotics in GW2 are the equivilent of maximum level raid armor.

And in regards to pvp LOL you don’t have to grind at ALL! It’s free of charge at level 2.

Give me a break man…. =/

Correction: Exotics are the equivalent to non-heroic raid gear in WoW. Certainly great, but not The Best™.

After hitting level 80 in a week, the rares set took me a few days. A full exotic took me a week. And all exotics share the same stats. As for those shinys.. meh. And you can do most things in game with just rares. Exotics are the best you can get with doing very limited work. Ascended are what you work for if you “want to”. And legendarys well, thats just for looks.

The crafting requirements of some things (ascended backpacks, i.e.) suggest otherwise.

Wait… I thought the “loot bug” was just a conspiracy made up by the players. Isn’t that what Anet said?

Funny thing, i seem to remember some info about loot drop changes in the patch notes. Are they really sure nothing was changed then?

Increases yes, in Orr. Which I can attest to. More bags, more drops. I was making 1-2g /hr before that update. Now 2-3g /hr. Can only imagine what the next one will do.

Everyone should get much gold, no matter how much effort they put in. Everyone should get the same amount of reward. Because that’s the way the world works so the game should be this way too. Oh wait.. that’s communism.

And if players are hunting these champs all day your going to most likely never make it to the event before they are dead. See: Maw. There are usually more 80’s at Maw than in all of the WvW area. This what you will have in every area if this were to happen.

Have you even downed any champs? They usually take at least 5 mins (with a really well co-ordinated team) to down. Im pretty sure most players in the zone can make it to them within 5 mins (aslong as someone shouts in zone chat that the champ is up – as what usually happens anyway).

Also, having alot of 80s spread about the open world can NEVER be a bad thing… since anet designed their systems to be based of co-operation rather than competition.

It doesn’t pay off to go to any other zone as an 80. With DR the only reason to go to a lower level zone is if you need mats or some sort of achievement.

But they do. I could post tons of pictures where level 80’s are all but in an alliance at Maw a level 15ish event. Where 60 people are at the level 60 dragon, WVW is empty, and level 60’s are in queensdale killing the troll or Wasp Queen.

I could do the same, and really it’s all dependent on your server. Some servers are completely abandoned in these aspects while others flourish but that brings me back to my original point, it pays better to be in a higher level zone. Why would I be in a level 15 zone [even with scaling] when I could be in a level 80 zone making money?

I think because it is quick, most people can finish maw in a few minutes like low level dragons. And they get a chest which has a chance at rares/exotics which are scaled to level 80. Which of course are worth more. But its an option not a way of playing 100% of the time. Orr does get monotonous even for someone like me who farms for hours and loves to grind heh :P

I haven’t received anything past a green since november from a Chest. I’ve done all the dragons, many of the world bosses, tons of dungeons, fractals as well. The most drops I’ve ever received when was I was grinding pent/shelt for a while, I made like 80s an hour with full MF gear. Hell I received better items from jumping puzzles than any other thing in the game.

Well hopefully the update fixes the regular drops for people so they at least get credit which will drop “more” loot. As for chests, I know the feeling but i don’t do dragons much for this reason. But the chest loot is a different discussion since it is a different factor in the game.

Why are all the threads locked in regarding loot discussion?

Why are all the threads that are locked now sealed….? Before when the thread was locked you could still view previous posts.

Why are Most of the threads that are locked are about Loot?

The Past 3 and half months the “Dutiful Moderators” have been very busy

We get Snippets of Show Us Proof, Oh now we have Proof, Oh We Might do something about It,…..

Remember, Remember the 15th of November
Remember, Remember the Lies of December
Remember, Remember …..

Because doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity. One thread to cover one purpose, thread answered, drop thread off sticky. Update comes and people have a chance to try out the loot rng again, and then a new thread will be made, and that thread will show the communities experience. Drops are fine, claiming them not so much. AS yoda would say, “being fixed they are”.

Yes I’ve solod many vets/helped kill champs. 5 minutes of my time for a porous bone DOES suck. BUT, I also spend 6 minute events making 2g. So when the lowest drop possible is a blue from a vet/champ, I’m fine with that. Every other game I’ve played with elite style monsters had worse drop rates, especially the ones that claim to have the rarest of items. I would spend hours killing 1 mob, who supposedly dropped some epic item just to get no coin, no loot, and a sad face. You have a BETTER chance to get BETTER loot from these champs and vets. even more so when teh update hits. But aside from those chances now you get GUARANTEED “something”. Good luck finding anything guaranteed in real life. If GW2 was realistic, you would see rares once a year and exotics by age 75. The only thing guaranteed is death and taxes, neither of which are fun. I make more off trash than most people make off selling exotics, rares combined. I have no problem with the loot drops as I do my best to work for what i get. And feel rewarded for such. I don’t depend on rare or exotic loot to keep me going, I know that it takes work and time to gain coin in this game. Depending on luck to survive is like putting two backpacks in a skydivers plane. One with a parachute and one stuffed with ACME socks and shirts. Your going to get to the ground one way or another, but what happens after is more important.

How would you feel if you weren’t rewarded for your hard work? I had full MF gear at least 200% of buffs and yet I farmed for weeks/months and really have little to show for it apart from my measly 7g and some achievements.

I’m not sure. Not to sound boastful and I’m truly not but I run with just food MF and make 2-3g an hour in Orr with DR, and with only simple 6 minute events. In between I gather materials like ore and trees. On my breaks when events aren’t up I’ll check the dragons or help with maw because my guild is there and I’m a guaranteed “raiser” :P

I’ve used 230% MF and found not much change other than in 80 areas. I dropped my MF gear and stuck with just food and the 10% loot buff from guild. I make between 16-23g a day off everything that isn’t yellow or gold. When i do get yellows its a big deal and fun for me. And I think that’s exactly how it should feel. The update is supposed to help and bring at least blues for people who do these vets and champs. I’m happy so long as my loot is steady which it has always been. With high MF the only thing I noticed was I gain more better quality as I know everyone aware, but what I’ve noticed is that blues were replacing my normal whites. Which is exactly how I make a profit is a steady flow of blue, green, and mats.

GW2 is AMAZING, until you start grinding.

lvl up to 80, do the story + story mode dungeons, do some world events/temples, do all dungeon explorable paths 1-2 times each, maybe a dozen of fractal runs.

geez; that 300h+ right there!
the game gives you that AND pvp/wvw for a box price.
this is one of the best rpg ever.

if you guys want to grind and grind…
complain at yourself, not the game.

I love grinding in non grinding games It makes me much happier knowing that I’m going to get tons of rewards grinding mobs, instead of the Korean style games where i HAVE to grind to “just get by.” Lol

But everyone is right, Colin, the entire Arenanet team, even NCsoft doesn’t care about anyone. Because they don’t need money to feed their family, or to keep them alive. Obviously they are a non profit organization that asks us to buy gems and hope for the best. Seriously.. If you think that a company runs like this, that they expect to make money by ignoring people and “stealth nerfing” everything, surely you have no idea what capitalism is.

The "loot investigation" isn't what we wanted

Congratulations Tyrantis you seem to get decent drops however the threads were about those of us who do exactly the same as you but get hardly anything.
We don’t want loot upping we just want the same loot as you !

Yep Powercat seems like a dodge to me too and a great way to get rid of both the threads and bury the issues.

You’re playing with a random generator. The fact that your loot is not good always does not mean that there’s something wrong with it. I ran CoE for days now getting only blues. Went to metrica province to complete my daily, smacked a mob and got a yellow. It’s random. Sometimes you get unlucky for days, sometimes you get real luck streaks.

See, there is a problem with this generator. I run the same groups every night. We do a fractal and then we do a number of dungeons. My account (doesn’t matter what character I am on) get almost no loot EVERY NIGHT compared to the rest of the group. We have some folks that get exotics every night along with multiple shards of mist in the Fractals. All of my drops are usually grey and white with blues in the chest. This is not a sometimes thing, this is every night. Our group has 2 very lucky, 2 sometimes lucky, 1 unlucky. This never changes and is standard for at least the last month.

Random is random, this is a pattern.

No they clearly looked into the issue and it’s fixed, it’s okay, just do more damage. It’s not a grinding game at all either.

Thanks for the laugh, I got a good chuckle.

Sadly, I don’t mind the grind. What I do mind is the grind with nothing to show for it….ever.

As my friend Charlize Theron says: Grind harder.

[At least in WoW they make use of phasing to change the way the gameworld looks so that you feel like finishing a long quest chain actually accomplished something. ]

I’m not quite sure what you are trying to get with this comparison. Since mist of pandaria launch, blizzard tried to limit as much as possible phasing quests due to the huge amount of complains they were getting from their players base. In fact, arenaNet made the clever decision to implement story mode instead of phasing to avoid separating the whole community. Also, why are you comparing phasing quests with heart quest/DE? Apple. Orange.

And the fact that some people didn’t like phasing doesn’t necessarily mean it was bad idea, perhaps what it meant is that they need to work on the implementation or simply not worry about some of the problems (different people seeing different phases because they are on different steps of the quest chain).

Regardless the point of the comparison is that GW2 is less immersive than other games because nothing you do has any actual effect on the game world, not even superficially.

So you want to play a solo game?

You are against arenaNet philosophy as you are asking for a single player game right now…

My first memorable experience was in Sylvari area. I did a quest and opened a bridge, every player around me got to use that bridge I did the quest for. At that moment it was the greatest thing ever :P I actually changed the game for others. Plenty of things like this in GW2, one the the reasons I enjoy this game so much.
