775 Hours 2 months play time.

I’ve been playing about two months and just recently got my second level 80, my Asura Thief. When I started the game I was really excited about all the aspects of it, the event style, the no kill stealing, so much was and is still very appealing. Something though that rubbed me the wrong way right off the start was dungeons.

My first attempt to find a dungeon didn’t go so well. I wanted to do CM story and looked for a group for some time with no luck. So finally someone invited me for CM explore. Now I am the level of this dungeon and in decent gear though I’ve never run it before. Upon getting to the door the group kicks me, I asked why and was told they want 80’s. The same happened to my wife because she said “I’ve never done this dungeon.” This mind you is my first week playing the game.. very disheartening. Now I don’t want this to deter me, many rude or elitist players out there and I understand this. So again I try to look for parties and finally get into a group. I go through the dungeon but have a ton of trouble as I’ve never done and don’t understand how the dungeon works or its skills needed. I do my best to stay alive and be a good part of the group but just about every mob inside who isn’t even a veteran kills me without any trouble. And a few times the entire group is just stopped and dropped..

So time goes by and I no longer like dungeons as the community, including friends say that I should do them at 80 regardless the fact they are 30/40/50/60/70 dungeons.. In between I end up doing a few a total of 5. 5 runs total altogether, not 5 different dungeons. My overall experience was that I had no chance to survive at those levels, I did fine as an 80. This doesn’t seem like it was intended.

I understand that there is skill and tactics to the dungeons but if your new and trying them out you won’t know this. And you suffer for not knowing this, especially if your party also is not very knowledgeable of the dungeon. This months monthly was all done on my account except for Dungeons. The sole reason is i feel like they are difficult for anyone who isn’t fully geared and traited. It takes away from something that new players could genuinely enjoy, and feels like its a part of the game that wasn’t thought out very well. Keep in mind all this was BEFORE the patch, I hear now that they are even harder..

Is this what was meant to be? This difficulty and trouble enjoying a potentially large part of the game? I’m not complaining per say that the dungeons are impossible, but i feel like to enjoy them you need to go very much out of your way, possibly even beyond your means to complete them in an enjoyable way. I really wish they rewards felt like they were worth the effort, but after all the groups who deny low levels, and the difficulty of the dungeons, I feel sad that I cannot enjoy this part of the game. I’m a grinder at heart so I keep myself busy, but i would truly like to enjoy the dungeons in the game.

Is it possible that Arenanet could ever make the level appropriate dungeons more manageable for those levels and allow a “hard mode” for higher levels or more experienced players? Being able to chose the low level decent reward dungeon to do with friends would be great. And later on after you have done the paths enough and understand the dungeon you can try hard mode for even better rewards. Its just an idea, and this is just my experience. I know people splay styles and skills vary, and I am by no means an expert at the game. I really hope something can change in this respect and I can enjoy a large chunk of the game like others do.

tldr: Please allow low level players an easier or more manageable dungeon choice. And allow higher level, more experienced players a hard mode choice. Thank you and sorry for the long post.

Ah yes, sorry if I had more time I’d add all the good ideas ive seen on forums lol. Maybe later :P I like the contributed part too shows who is actually repping and playing.

Warning popup for leader change
More customization of roles

The message of the day barely looks important, and it just seems cluttered.
I know this sounds like qq about the game, but its just a suggestion not qq. I love the game and just think this aspect could be better. Ignore the “paint” style, it took me 5 minutes lol. Just a general idea of what would be simple and helpful for the main page.

Irrelevant, it’s still incredibly annoying and makes no sense.

It makes perfect sense, they don’t want you running through areas full of mobs just ignoring the mobs. The same with WvW, they don’t want you flying through a crowd of enemies pretending you’re not there. I don’t know if you noticed, but this is actually a combat game. If you want to stay out of combat don’t be in the world. If you’re in the world be prepared for the posibility of combat occuring.

Then why make skills that give you speed buffs for running away, why make skills like “retreat” if there is no purpose. Since you get slowed down in combat anyway, some of these skills are only useful outside of combat, therefore retreating is and should be an option. Otherwise your toon just looks like a moron who can’t run from an OP mob, and just sits there and takes it. That’s not tactic, that’s stupidity.

I played aion with 3000 people fortress sieges with 0 lag, I’m not sure why you get lag here with all this culling..

Calendar would be great. I don’t know if we need the larger groups since the way the game is designed and some guild are around 400 people, no group size is going to accommodate that.

Trying to have guild events is a bit of a pain once you get over the 5 mark. Like Doing a map complete night you loose people as you go through it because they arnt in the same group unless you have someone who is a commander . I think 20 would be a sweet spot aka 4 groups as a larger size, anything is better then just the 5.

Now that guild events are part of the game we now have our first bit of content requiring …..well the guild. Any time you have events requiring larger #‘s of people you need an easy way to say “Hey, be on at inset time for X event” not like it wasn’t needed before but i would argue the need is growing now and becoming more important.

Message of the day only does so much, in fact its worse then other games because it isnt in your chat box when you log in, im sure a fair amount of people dont even click the guild tab every day when they hop on. Also going;

Player A doing AC Monday Night
Player B doing WvW night at X time
Player C has Fractals blah blah blah
etc

As your whole message of the day as it leaves anything else out but the schedule, also if something changes you are in no way alerted if something is canceled or moved and requires an officers to update it.

Il just paraphrase what wow devs said as i dont remember the exact words. But the jist of it is being that its poor design to have people go outside the game for information. And as anyone who as run a guild has known, not everyone goes to the website or if they do they its very limited and getting people to participate on guild forums and such can be a hell of a challenge.

Its just simply easier for everyone involved if there was an in game calendar and im not saying all the “suggestions” people are giving dont work, there is simply a more elegant solution to it and that can provide more functionality and ease of use then those options . WoW’s worked great and i loved when they added it as it was simple and gave you reminders of when the event was close in your chat box, it also sent you mail if something got canceled , in addition you could have spur of the moment events and they are easy to spot as most dont check guild websites daily.

But we already have to go out of game for Wiki, LFG, Event Timers, Server forums, so just seems relevant to have guild website ^^ Plus personally I enjoy making a website that members enjoy

This bothers me very much in PVE.. Especially when I have Signet of rage + speed boost (which cost gems), and banner buff. Why on earth if I’m spending money/influence in PVE am I running slower… For PVP maybe its so that everyone is on equal terms as far as run speed, but pve…..

I don’t understand why they can’t just let us choose from all the dailies. Why is it still randomized? I thought we were supposed to be able to choose whatever we want, but it’s still limited and randomized daily, even if there are more than 5 to choose from now.

Because they want to add variety. Having the same daily’s every day to chose from is monotonous. They want to urge players to try the different content out, because most people get stuck in a place (Maw,Dragons) and never leave. Same goes for 1 chest a day, people just farming the same event a thousand times to get a rare is bullkitten. At least now people get decent drops every time. They don’t want to force people to play the game the way they want, but the game itself NEEDS people to be exploring it to give it that “living feel”. When you run around in an MMO you WANT to see people, you do NOT WANT to see no one, then go to Maw and see an entire server of 80’s camping it. They will fine tune it later on to make it more manageable and take the players ideas into consideration in doing so. But we as a gaming community sometimes need a push to help us play the game it was meant to be. Its not perfect, and no game is, but they are taking steps, leaps, and bounds to make GW2 more amazing than the games before it. Be optomistic.

The Box o’ Fun isn’t all that evil RNG-wise, though. Wait for someone else to buy one and dump it in LA for anyone to use, or for someone to buy it for a guild event. Fun for all! It’s not like each person has to buy one, it’s a kind of party game thing.

I was looking around for a thread that was for the BLTC Gem store, specifically what people would love to see added. I couldn’t seem to find one unless perhaps I missed it so I figured I’d add it here ^^ Conflicted a bit on whether this is better in suggestions or here, but we will see

Some things that would be cool to see added to the BL Gem store are:

Skins:
1. Swim fin foot gear skin (The flipper like things you wear underwater.. idk the technical term :P) Skin for PVE, not just town.
2. Scuba suit PVE skin and/or town outfit. Scuba head gear.
3. Race costumes, Charr, Asura etc.
4. Old fashioned pressurized deep sea diver suits. And/or helmet.
5. Aquatic animal weapon skins, fish, shark etc.
6. Swimsuits

Boosts:
1. XP boosts that give XP % for any XP earned.
2. WP fee reduction. Maybe an item that gives you 24 hour buff that reduces WP costs.

Game system:
1. Guild Name change
2. Name Change
3. Special Guild emblem templates
4. Extended Guild bank
5. Dances/Emotes

Consumables:
1. Party foods – Banquet table that gives food to players for 1hour or so. Either a combo platter with choices or simply different foods. ie Banquet of Pizza,Steak,Wine,Omnomberry bars for dessert :P I know there are crafted trays of food, but this would be bigger, and have a unique look and food buffs more like an event item like the event box.

What would you like to see added that you would buy? Nothing game-breaking of course :P

Well technically they can say adding more vets (which according to anet drop better items) is helping the events. I just wish the Maw champ had more HP, ppl kill him in like 15 seconds.. And that there were more zombies at orr events rather than harder ones, or maybe just more hp. That would help with tagging.

So aside from getting owned by all the new vets, its sort of fun. Mostly because of this tho:

I’m on Tarnished Coast, it’s so hard to search through there and sort out yourself between people who post the server with their guild, those that don’t. Those that are looking and so forth.

You can say that again. I was actually going to come to a conclusion on the question, but realised I may be jumping the gun.
Hopefully some details get revealed sooner rather than later.

I’m going to try on my warrior but many are saying account, i like to check myself.. with hope.. ::crosses fingers:: because say you want the chest for level 60 gear on your 60, means you can only do it on that character.. Or you want it on your 15-20.. Same.

And the peppercorn thing, I know its a diff topic, but kinda like to know where u get them now after patch lol..

Clearly this thread is full of lies. Have you all not read that the game is dead on all those threads? So its impossible that the servers are stressed from tons of people downloading :P

Nah that guy is lying his kitten off. If 5g/hour were in any way doable by the majority of the playerbase, everyone would have at least one legendary by now.

I can make about 2-3g an hour, but that’s not to say everyone can. It depends what you do really.

If I really tried, and dumped absolutely everything I picked up into coin one way or another? I could probably hit 4-5g per hour. But that’s not really the issue here, is it? The issue is some people just don’t want to feel they have to spend that gold on Influence.

Well you don’t technically. In the gw2 wiki many things can be done to raise influence, it just depends on how it is done. And of course it does take a “few” people to build it quickly. But definitely not impossible. The reason i do is because every 2 days i spend around 30g on just random stuff, lately that has been going to my personal guild I just use for myself. Because i thought it would be cool to have all the buffs I could want heh I think its very possible for 15 active people to take advantage of this update. But as its brand new we will have to see.
