You can set up a Box O Fun (as change appearance only) within usable reach right before facing him and then use the box after the fight starts (in your .4sec window of using a skill). He will drink himself to death while you just regen.
Cheating yes, but this POS cheats too, so….
I wouldn’t normally condone such exploits, but considering you need to beat him to get the LS achievement and beating Adnul requires nothing more than RNG (or a regen booster if you happen to have one and don’t get screwed with RNG), I feel it’s a fair use.
Why on earth would you set it up for transform appearances when you can set it to petrify mode and take no damage at all, once the petrify takes over your body.
I did not use this method to get the achievement, I fought him the hard way which is the normal ten hours of your life flush down a mystic toilet way. But in fairness he is not right, he doesn’t seem to have a strategy that can be applied like all the others with a certain consistency. As soon as you are ahead he will spam the special and then it all goes downhill from there.
I know some of you got a lot of these box o’ fun’s from doing achievements. I guess well now its time your achievements are gonna help you get an achievement. I bet a few people are gonna be like holy crap, I wasted them things so they would not take up space in my bank.
Best use is that the specials are not account bound and if you want all six you will need to get them before its all over.
The game could be upgraded with “multi-player” either 2 man teams or 4 man battle royal, where if you eliminate another player your special is reset. Maybe a new drink buff or bluff could be added to make multi-player work even better.
Any Idea’s anybody want to share that could improve on the idea…
Yeah it would be better to not have multiple skins on a single weapon or armor.
Instead, (I read this somewhere else) let you take all your skins to Kimmes the Historian in the Hall of Monuments and turn them over to him and all your toons could partake in the wardrobe of skins.(you might have to have a fee for each deposit)(or a fee for each withdraw, since Kimmes is setup like a merchant anyway)
I think they also wanted Legendaries to not be weapons, but craftable skins that you could let ole Kimmes hold and all your toons could sport your hard work. Even on lowbie weapons as you level an alt, and without the hassle of a possible loss. As once you gave it to Kimmes you could come back over and over and over and over to reapply the skin to a matching weapon. And you could play with stats more freely too, I guess.
Well, there are rare/exotic skins only obtainable through drops, such as Final Rest.
What I can’t believe is that the same speed-farm-nerf-loving people at anet that killed many farms in GW1 that people in the community made up and loved, because they could be run in 8 minutes or even less….sometimes the setup took 25 minutes but you could literally kill thousands of the mobs in a hour’s time. Would make some of these world bosses be able to be dropped in mere seconds. I do get the idea that they control how often we can take them on or how many chest we get to open a day to offset the speed at which the community is taking these guys down. But those bosses Look Epic but are White Quality compared to doing all paths on a dungeon.
Also I want to add, that a way to continue a “all path” dungeon run with your group can be setup to pause between paths. So you could start the the dungeon your team wants to run, doing path 1 on any given night and the leader could set it to hold that this group did path 1 and you could continue path 2 anytime during the week and hold it up to a month before it drops it out of the hold system. Of course they need to add a calender to help setup timing for your group, which is something they need for guilds anyway.

The sprint will indeed end when all racers have made it up to the finish area. It periodically checks to see if anyone is still racing and if not, it will end early.
This isn’t correct it has ended for me when I’ve still been out of the track (and not just when I’ve zoned in during a race) and as a consequence I didn’t get the achievement point for completing the race.
Its riddled with bugs I also placed first in 1 race and didn’t get the achievement.
Yeah I had it shut down on me while I was still actively running my butt off after it connected me to a game already in progress…
You did not get first in that race you was second coming over the finish line. The guy that went across the line first got the chest and left the race to go back and que for another. When the time came for the tally of scores the game seen that the guy that got first was no longer there and gave you the first place points but not the win…You will not get the achievement for first place unless you are first…..
The number I want to see is, how many people die on the last day of the event when Krakatorik attacks the Labyrinthine Cliffs and Destroys It completely. Luckily a few survivors will make it to Zephyr Sanctum as it tries to flee from this Elder Dragon Wrath, for their Involvement with Glint and the magic they acquired from her.
I foresee it crashing down somewhere in the Crystal Desert.
OH this is the Living story I am ready to fulfill. Imagine 5 to 10 new zones in the Desert. All the Lore that will be founded. Maybe it makes sense to be able to mine crystals from a crystal desert.
When I ran my toon though the Order of Whispers, I thought, Gosh this would make a fun mini game to play all the time. Adnul has beaten that love for the mini game out of me.
FIX! HA! they did not tone him down they just took away the ability to use the mango’s which I learn about all to late.
Maybe a kite cosmetic mount, like the broomstick but you kinda hang underneath the kite?
That would amuse me.
they have power kites and some people ride like skate, snow, wake boards underneath….or do you meant the more comical getting pulled across the ground like in this video….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wXoUfNczfg
A kite mini would be cool but holly mackerel you want that kite mini to do a lot of things.
nah I was just putting alot of thought into the idea and hoping some might have other ideas to share…. but it looks like it is already set in stone at this point….glad I could think of something that was already thought of by the dev’s….except I still want it to be a mini.
gosh no one wants to add to this… I thought it would have gotten some constructive criticism.
the living story mentions these items but of course they are no where to be found be as a useable item. I think that as a reward for completing Learn to Kite meta(which to be honest they have a parachute attached to them, not a kite) should have been a Parachute Back Pack. Or make them a merchant item that you need a large amount of quartz crystals to get.
And to keep these items from stealing thunder from the the other back items that were introduced with this living story.
Simply these items would not be a new skin, but a item much like a Jewel or a Infusion Slot. So you get the look of the skin you like with the functionality of the life saving device.
Basically the upgrade item you install on the back piece of your choice and when you are falling from a great height you can setup a button to deploy the parachute to safely drift to the ground below….and like in real life these jumps or falls would need a certain distance to work so people would not be jumping off houses…only long falls.
of all the things we get a Mini that has a video of the Sanctum Zephyr which is nice.
Don’t get me wrong I like the little thing, but its novelty wears off after 2 uses.
Here IMO is what we should have gotten as the mini….since a lot of the living story talk is about them, why not……A Kite
That’s right a Kite, that fly’s over your head about 5 to 10 feet off the ground, so that as you the player run around it would give the look of you actually flying….well a Kite.
Here want some more cool ideas to push this idea. The kites should be embroidered with your guild’s emblem, so they will all look different.
Kites could have the ability to have a new mini game where kite flying and battles could take place.
If you are standing still with your kite, you can let out more string, so you can let it get to really high up flying places. Along with some /emotes to make it do tricks.
Edit: Thanks Anet for getting these Kites in the game.
(edited by Gummy.4278)
What happens is after each race we stand around for three minuets waiting for ??? , for what I do not know. Everyone has finished the race yet the timer keeps on counting down. When the last person crosses the finish it should go ahead and give the tally and show the winners list.
Also it should show the winners list with all the names of the people who participated. Last night I kept thinking I had won, I kept getting top score and no one was at the top when I crossed the finish line, but what was really happening was the guy who placed first would as soon as he got the chest he would leave and start a new race…I wonder why, oh yeah I know cause he did not want to wait 3 to 5 minutes to see the winners list.
I would have liked a little on screen cloud shaped thingy with the position you are in that updates as the race progresses, that is a basic for all racer games. This one just tells you what position you are in after each checkpoint. Unless I have overlooked it.
I think the major uproar over RNG is not the way I am suggesting, but when the RNG is in a box that you can only open by buying the keys from them with real world currency.
I for one will never ever be using real money to gamble on a chance that a box could possibly give me the rare item.
However I do not mind going after a RNG at the end of the dungeon as the only thing I loose is time. Time that I would have been loosing anyway but you still always get a reward. I also think that making it so that this chest only spawns for a team completing the whole dungeon could help curb a few to stop running the same path over and over.
Something that I miss from GW1 was super rare skins in the dungeon chest at the end. Kinda like the the Voltaic Spear dropped from Slaver’s Exile dungeon chests. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Voltaic_Spear
Whole runs of specially designed team parties went after these dungeons to increase the success rate of the run and in turn speed the run up, all in hopes of snagging one of these extremely rare skinned weapons.
GW1 was full of these kinds of runs, and were some of the best times I had playing GW1. I wish that some of that excitement was available opening GW2 chests at the end of the dungeon, after the last boss was downed. The anticipation as you stepped up for your turn at the chest. The high aspirations that this time opening the chest, could get that super rare chance at the be all, end all skin for that particular dungeon.
The most highly sought after weapons in GW2 would be precursors. So what I am thinking (any help designing this is welcome) is when you have done all paths to a dungeon, a chest appears after the last boss is downed, at which each person gets a chance at the chest, which “might” contain any of the following :
a large stash of the dungeon tokens, a reasonable amount of tier 6 mats,
a weapon that you could get from the vendor in LA for the dungeon you are running of course,
a new rare skin weapon that corresponds to the dungeon and you can not get it any other way except running the dungeon,
and of course the end all, be all, a precursor.
But not everybody has HOM! How do you get the benefits of it being a skin, when not everyone can visit this area of the game?
Don’t get me wrong I like this idea….I just want it well thought out so it works for everyone in the game not just the old vets.
Edit: about a month ago I made the following suggestion, now we have the watchwork portal and its not really worth the money cost to make each usage. My suggestion is at bare minimum make it so you can set it to use the portal over and over as long you don’t die or zone out of the area in which you placed the portal.
See original suggestion below:
Personal Interdimensional Translocation Sphere
P.I.T.S for short.
This idea came to me on my first attempt at the new Jumping Puzzle-Not So Secret. The design of the puzzle makes it so that if you fall you have to go back a long way and fight though some mobs over and over, if you are not a good jumper, have a handicap, or lag.
Also I know some people would like to do the entire puzzle without a Mesmer portal to the top.
The way I envision that it would work is that it would only ever work in jumping puzzles.
You would jump up to any spot that you want and set off the device so that it would retain this spot as the return location as long as you don’t leave the jumping puzzle or die you can return to this spot over and over by clicking a second time on the P.I.T.S remote control which will automatically portal whoever was holding the remote back to the the sphere that was created when the device was activated. So you do not spend 2 hours jumping the same area of the puzzle over and over because of this one tricky spot you can’t get the hang of.
“Making it so that, if you have P.I.T.S and you fall in the pits, we’ll get you back up again.”™
Please help me build the idea with some actual numbers: like how long should the cool down on the use be. Or how should we be able to obtain the item.

I would even say that Caithe has been a bit of a lesbian crush.
Lesbian crush, Caithe has always been a salad muncher, but not a lesbian.
facepalm
And Grand Duchess Faolain was just her “Special Friend”? Please, Caithe is as straight as Burt and Ernie.
It was meant to be a joke, so glad you can tell the difference… I was never big on these smiley things , but I guess I need to be so people can tell when the text is not in context. So for that here ;P

Well when you are going out to do the guild bounties and such…. recruit people to go with you they don’t have to be in your guild to go along and help.
Join another guild(s) with higher player count you can be in with 5 guilds and when they are doing the bounties for that guild you rep them and then rep your own guild when doing yours…. line up your time to do bounties right after theirs is done and you scratch their back and they will scratch yours. Five smaller guilds can all be in the same guild(s) together forming an alliance that could all promote each other to higher levels than the single guild could get to. I know you don’t want Kittens in your guild but you might want to consider the options already available before you try for a suggestion to fix it.
This is what I done to get the achievement this time. Before going in, I told myself don’t take it Personal (which is what a lot of people do). You are gonna die many times anyway just Relax enjoy the puzzle, don’t worry about the campers, team up to take back chokes and use whatever means you got to go undetected, but always help your team so they can help you….In other words actively participate in the puzzle the way it was meant to be played.
I am on top tier world so it was a constant fight no matter what time of the day. I know how hard it is for guys that are on low pops cause I used to be on one too. My only suggestion for you guys is to try and go at a time when you know the enemy is sleeping.
Getting all bent out of shape is not helping you. Insanity = Doing the same thing and expecting different results. If you want to succeed and what you are trying is not getting results try changing your tactics. Give in to the idea that you are not just gonna run to the cache, try helping your team and working together, plan for it, and ask for all the help you can get.
As for Race change, I do not care one way or the other.
But for Order change, I do have some ideas about what I think would be a good way for us to access the different armor sets.
Instead of changing orders..after you have completed the main game story line you will be able to go back to any other order and do rep dailies that you will build up rep within that order to get to high enough to buy the armor sets. As you have blended all the orders together and they should have a certain amount of respect for you. So allowing you to be able to gain rep with them should not be a problem.
The difference is that if you joined that order in your story, you can gain rep too, but instead of allowing you to get the armor. Instead each tier of rep will lower the price of the your chosen orders armory from your personal story line.
If the order you are gaining rep for is not your “Main Order” you will only be allowed to get certain pieces of the armor at full price with each tier of rep. Also you could add some more exclusive items for the Main order rep at max tier.
I do realize that some might would want to the gain rep with the Major Cities though rep dailies “like killing centaurs for Divinity Reach” allowing you to get into the culture sets of armor.
I do not think that is such a good idea, but if it had to be so, then maybe the armors would have to be modified to fit a different racial body type and would loose certain outstanding features that made the armor have its uniqueness for the culture it came from. So you could get the armor but it would look better if it was for the matching race.
Also note that gaining rep with Major Cities would allow you to purchase items from vendors with a small percentage off prices with the more tiers of rep you have earned. Unless of course the city is your home city where you could get a major discount for getting maxed out rep with them.
As LA is not anyone’s home city then your best bet is to gain rep with your home city as you will get all the best deals from them at max rep. Also you could purchase a home hearth at max rep where you could waypoint to your home city free from anywhere in the world. And maybe some other cool devices or rewards for maxing rep.
This alone would drive a lot of people back into the major cities and give you new things to be done. Maybe each Major city could get a mini dungeon that can be soloed but would be open for everyone to join into the fray as they all worked in unison as part of the daily system.
1 million Karma = 1 Laurel
Based on the fact that it normally takes a whole day to get a single laurel. And I still don’t think it should be done. Its just a greedy mind wanting a short-cut.
If Conditions are Dot’s, then it would seem having toughness would Not stop the condition but would slow the the tick rate down. This is from a natural or logical standpoint. As any person in the real world who is tough, just has a better ability to withstand pain, but they still get hurt no matter how much their ego says otherwise. Is there another stat that slows down the tick rate of Dot’s?
Mounted Combat Saturday’s
If they ever establish Guild Halls and/or Housing in the game you probably will get a Poof to that instead. Which I am looking forward to. Guild Halls will replace a lot of need to always go to LA and or major cities, when i was done with something in gw1 I always went to my guild hall.
Well it looks like we get what we ask for:
Here is your link where they say no mounts.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions
Will there be mounts?
No. For traveling long distance, the game will offer the two types of teleports above (waypoints and asura gates), but the initial release does not have any other methods, i.e. there are no mounts or ships. They have also said this on the forums, but threads past a certain age can no longer be searched for and so I couldn’t locate that.
As someone who dislikes/disapproves of mounts, please make sure you emphasize the proper context. If you look at that statement, it comes with the specific qualifier that there will be no mounts at release. They did not say they will never add mounts, nor did they say they might in the future.
As far as I know, there has been no solid yes/no to mounts from the developers, otherwise these threads would be insta-closed. They did state that there wouldn’t be mounts in F&F, but nothing since.
Yes, I saw that. The thread where they said there will be no mounts is over a month old and no longer searchable. As to why the threads are not closed, talking about mounts are not against forum rules.
And I didn’t say I disliked/disapproved of mounts. Please point out where I said that. I merely showed the link in wiki about mounts.
Here is a couple of links I think you may have been referring to: please feel free to deny that this is what you are referencing as I have been away from the game a tic and I can only speculate.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Incoming-Mounts/first#post1265016
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mounts-What-on-earth
In which, I am here to crush your dreams. The no to mounts statement by Regina is also in the proper context with the specific qualifier that “no” only applies for the Flame and Frost Story.
And the second link she still never says definitively that there will never be. Only that we should not speculate that anything in the artwork will make it into the game.
Ok I have been out of the loop for awhile playing some other games and yes they all have mounts ….
Here is the big thing about Guild Wars that a lot of you will agree with me on and that is the character animation and movement are very very very smooth…If you jump it looks like the animation matches what you would think the character should look like doing the motion. In all these other games the movement of the character is just acceptable, it doesn’t feel tight.
If Anet brings Mounts to GW2 then I know that the same amount of quality they put into the toon’s normal movement will go into the mounted movement.
And I will say it again they could make all three types of mounts which are as follows:
cosmetic – no thrills no fluff just looks good. (buy with gems)(we already have a few)
speed – not a looker, but keeps on going and going has multiple speeds up to 33% but only in short bursts and min 25% sustained speed and can dodge 2 attacks as we can do now, anything else gets dismounted. (reward ticket and choice of plain mount for doing 100% map)(Exotic version mounts could be added to reward systems like dungeon tokens and Legendary ones could be made as extremely rare drop)
combat – an arena built in the mist of epic size that caters to all the mounted combat that the game has to offer…if you have been to the Black Citadel you know what I mean. (this can include land, air, and sea type mounts)
No flying mounts in the open world. No mounts while talking to Npc’s, if you even get near a npc for more than 4 seconds you get dismounted. Not inside of any dwelling structures, including jumping puzzles and dungeons unless the dungeon provides you the mounted system as a mechanic to its conclusion. There could be a gold sink added to the speed type mounts where as you buy feed or something like that for upkeep or you have to buy them shoes every so often or they don’t run while a shoe is broken.
been there and done that….here check out my link
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Dynamic-level-adjustment-Dungeons/first#post1448415
also later on another person with similar idea….
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Public-Dungeons/first#post1265812
I think maybe if you want to play them just wait for the appropriate Holiday to return and it should make a reappearance at the time, based on how holidays were handled in Anet’s previous game.
However, I would like to say I am more upset that there was a not a new JP introduced with the current event going on right now. Oh well here is hoping that if they have something that covers July 4th, then we get a new JP to look forward to the next year.
I so want the story to progress. I want recover lore from areas in the game that was in the first game but not in this game “Yet”, like Crystal Desert. I want to pursue the other Dragons. Or is the pursuit of each Dragon its own expansion?
No, how about instead of asking for tokens to stack a certain way to accommodate extreme farming and hording. Why not suggest that instead they add something to each of the vendors that would make you want to buy that item and let go of the horde. But you have to be careful with the item you pick to put in there it has to have a good enough reason for people would want to do the exchange all the while not flooding the market with an item that would ruin the game economy.
Problem(s) I can see with making the races available to actually be the driver in and have betting is, if you make it like that it will be very boring for the drivers, they will have to wait around for betting to occur before a race can start. That means there will be a line for every race, since you would be waiting for the race ahead of you to end. If you are gonna be a race driving participant in a MMO they would have to make a instanced world just for it so hundreds of thousands of races could happen at the same time. Which would be fine but would be too much for people to get in bets on race.
Second if they did make it so we drove and we can bet, since there are so many friends and unscrupulous people in a game like this, it would not take to long before someone tried to rig the results of the races they where in so there friends could get all the money from always being the winner.
I don’t know maybe they could go together but the betting would only happen a very small amount of the races to keep the racers from going off for just waiting 2 minutes for bets to happen. Or they just let bets happen on a number in a race that they pick and does not have the actual player names to bet on. It would just let bets be placed on a race that will be picked as the end of the betting window closes using a numbering of the racers in a certain gate.
And on a side note there has to be a reward for racers as well as the betting community which brings another gold sink to the game, “Entry Fee’s” should there be entry fees or should racers just be let to run over and over for free as long as they think they are having fun, massing large amounts of whatever token system they would use to get enough to get the super deluxe prize item.
So during the effigy lighting someone is gonna attack LA, using some kind of ship that is hidden from view with the mysterious formation thingy. So with that the celebration part will be turned into the new living story. Meaning that in fact NO there will not be a Jumping Puzzle this time. DANG!!!!!
Of course this is just my presumption that this is the way it will workout.
Yeah Imagine climbing up a actual Dragons back and then you take a hammer out and BASH him on the head!
A new all underwater dungeon…..
Something is missing from this holiday event…..I can’t put my finger on it.
Oh yeah! I know, where is the JUMPING PUZZLE!!!!
I wish there was a jumping puzzle this time. Someone tell me I am wrong and there is a jumping puzzle, I just didn’t see it?
so during this 24 hours the winning team owns all the fortifications and pvp can still breakout, but the other two teams can’t take anything back(?)
A buffer cool down so to speak, in which all the pve’s looking to get the achievement for 100% could do that, without taking up spots during the real battle. In fact might motivate some to help during the rest of the week so they can get the celebration.
Also might enforce more pride for your server to see “yeah! we did it!”.
Or maybe I am reading more into what you mean.
(edited by Gummy.4278)
3. I want to be able to ride in town! I have re given that solution to the butt in your face problem you are so empathetic to.
You indeed have given a solution to merchant problem, but maybe I should elaborate how that does not solve the town problem?
You see, pretty much the entire town is a social zone where players tend to do bussiness, which might not always require standing near a interactable character. People dance, look for parties, roleplay, ect. How irritating do you think it would be to have to relocate your dance group the whole time because some guy wishes to block your entire performance with his dolyak? And yeah, I know, enlargement potions, but that is another suggestion entirely. And ofc what I said earlier about less playermodels visible is still true.
4. I will say it again “you did not read what I said!” I said SPECIFIC AREA to lay out this type of combat.
If you’re going to say “you did not read what I said!” Atleast prove you’ve readen my entire point by addressing the rest of it, mkay? Nobody wants to appear as a hypocrite, right?
Besides, I was just saying that flying mounts are out of the question as they would break the currently existing maps. If you want a minigame with flying mounts, possible, but other than that, no.Agreed.
A neat idea to help with gold sinks could be stables placed outside of cities to park your mounts for a fee.
Mounts are a kind of gold sink in that they could be expensive items taking a lot of gold out of the system all in one fell swoop. I don’t want to pay to ride each time or have to locate a stable just to be able to ride, I just want to ride MY mount when and where ever I want to ride em.
If there must be mounts, there needs to be a regular fee associated with using the mounts. Or that is at least how I feel.
Unless they are purely cosmetic.
If you set up a dance in the middle of the street, you might expect someone is just gonna walk though. In real life the street would have to be shut down, and the people at whatever function it was, would be there and realize it was entertainment and not just go about walking though the dance number, other than that you don’t own the street. And who is to say that maybe the person is setting on top of his mount dancing right along with you.
Playermodels , well lets see, I am not sure that this is even a problem, I am not sure that you know they are for that matter. If someone who knows the true answer could interject that would be grand. We all could learn something in the process.
You still didn’t read it, oh I am sorry I should say comprehend it. I know you are saying that flying mounts would break current maps and all. But I just said for there to be a specific area for mounted combat to take place, a New area aka MvM and not just land based but sea and air based mounts as well, also these could very well be machines that the Charr made! Your sign off with the “but other than that, no.” makes me think you may have read it but you didn’t comprehend it.
For the use of a mount. I do not agree to a charge by usage type set up, I do not want to rent the mount, I want to own the mount. Ownership provides a greater feeling of attachment.
Agreed.
A neat idea to help with gold sinks could be stables placed outside of cities to park your mounts for a fee.

I know people are really worried about people standing on top of npcs with their mounts, and that’s a legitimate concern. I don’t want mounts to disrupt anyone’s game play so I suggest we disallow mounts in major cities and large quest hubs. There could even be a stable outside cities for flavor (maybe even an instanced personal story-esque stable where you could park your horse and pay a lil fee for them to hold it with some cool dialogue!). Stand alone NPCs could have an invisible barrier that dismounts anyone that comes close enough or something.
I know there are many people opposed to mounts, but there are also lots of gamers like me who really really want them. I think if both sides put their heads together we could come up with a solution that could appease everyone!
I do not want them banned from towns and outposts…
The Npc’s already have an area around them that is normally referred to as Collision Detection
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collision_detectionWhen you get into this area you will notice that the Press F button to interact will pop up on the screen. The game already has an area to prevent mounts from standing in the loading zone so to speak. In my earlier draft of this particular compromise, I said that the mount could enter this area and after three seconds if you had not moved it would dismount you even if you are still moving inside the area. So you could pass though the area without being dismounted just for passing by and idiots could not wiggle their controls on top of the Npc to forgo the dismount timer and irritate the nay-sayer.
The only problem is, right now someone can get a tonic that will make them 5 times larger than current size and could sit on top of a Npc just to be annoying if they wanted to and there is no disrobe feature for anyone that keeps that from happening. If mounts did get a continuous speed buff, mount riders would still want to be riding them in towns.
Not to mention that… Dolyeaks behind… I’m sure I’ve mentioned a few times. In towns, mounts would just be tools to grief other players.
You didn’t read what I said did you? I said there is a means in game already to grief players standing on top of Npc’s.
The more I listen to you, the more I think you are just enjoying giving grief to other people by posting on these threads. I think you don’t really care one way or the other, its the satisfaction you get from aggravating someone in opposition, that is what you really desire?Well, that is the type of hostility I was talking about earlier. Could you drop it?
Not to mention that your assumption is, of course, incorrect. If there are means in the game to grief other players going about their bussiness in the towns, the correct way to address those is not to add more means to grief other players going about their bussiness in the towns. That would seem highly illogical to me.
I am not being hostile, I was not assuming, it was a question that was worded so that it may have the appearance of an assumption. I am wondering could you drop the butt argument instead, it doesn’t seem to hold up any legitimate validity.
1. No one would be forced to get a mount! Pro-Mount has already stated no more speed buff than that already exists.
What I mean is that, if you can get any bonus from your mount, then it basically forces you to have one. (Unless the bonus you’re talking about is something like occasional speedbuff, not constant 33%, and the mount would remove your bar. Preferrably in the kind of manner that lets the slowest profession still move as quickly as a mount does, to ensure nobody would gain from getting a mount, and therefore not be forced to get one.)
2. I think we should be able to race them, count the progress towards Costume Brawl.
When I said “cosmetic mounts” I was referring to the second category pro-mounters have proposed, as in mounts that give you absolutely no speedbuff and are there just to look good. I’d have very little against cosmetic mounts, except that it would just lead to more mount threads that now demand speedbuffs for the mounts because slow moving mounts are ridiculous in their opinion.
3. I have given you that answer many times already.
Yes, I believe many of these points have been addressed quite a few times. So… No city mounts?
4. I would like to see Mounted combat. If the general consensus is not in WvW I think they could do very well to introduce a specific area for all out mounted combat(think land, sea and air).
Flying mounts are out of the question tho, they’d break pretty much every single map.
And if it’s mounted combat, do you mean that ANet needs to make a combat bar for each of the mounts, or just regular combat but done on top of the mount?5. I hate elitism myself, but I think if you see #1 you get my answer.
Oh, elitism has nothing to do with abilities that mount gives. The mount could be purely cosmetic, but as an collectable, there would be certain mounts that are more difficult to earn, like pets in GW1.
This could work as a substitute for damage meter when you try to get in to a dungeon group.6. What do you mean there is pics in the game showing mounts being ridden, there is dialogue about riding moa’s, and there is Asuran Technology that could easily put you in direct contact with a horse, its as easy as opening a gate.
Then again, while developers work together with lore writers, I do not think the concept artists do.
And of course you could have a minigame where the point is to do something dumb, such as trying to stay on top of a moa, but that is still far from turning moas to mounts. Wolf didn’t turn into dog overnight…. Maybe we’ll see mounts in GW3?And I guess its time for me to coin a new phrase. I want mounts cause I am a PRONY!!!…..pro mount+pony! I just love them. Same goes for fishing.
^_^
1. Actually I would love for the speed buff skills to be displaced with other type skills.
2. nothing to say here
3. I want to be able to ride in town! I have re given that solution to the butt in your face problem you are so empathetic to.
4. I will say it again “you did not read what I said!” I said SPECIFIC AREA to lay out this type of combat.
5. I see a point here, the person can only pull out the golden chain from the monkey butt with a lot of great difficulty and skill, thus when you trade in the golden chain for the reward of x-mount, thus proving that you have the skill to do some idiotic task that the elitist will latch onto to make their party groups. But what happens when they introduce new LFG tool. gonna have to wait and see.
6. Obviously.
I think you don’t really care one way or the other, its the satisfaction you get from aggravating someone in opposition, that is what you really desire?
Well, I’m assuming no post was deleted, which would indicate no infraction, hence no email. However, if a mod thought that the thread was moving to a more hostile or offtopic direction, that would explain why it was locked.
I can’t really think of another reason, it’s a shame since I think we were just about make some progress…Anyways, there are a few problems with mounts, I’ll just restate them quickly, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about:
1. Speedbuff mounts (Easier farming, WvW ruined, basically forces those who do not want mounts get a mount, ect.)
2. Cosmetic mounts (Slippery slope, lack of cohesion among pro mounters, leads to speedbuff mounts)
3. Areas where mounts could be used (I still don’t want a dolyaks behind on my face)
4. What to do when entering combat? Thow the player down? Mounted combat?
5. Tools for elitists players – You don’t have black moa mount? No party.
6. Lore, mounts just don’t seem to fit in the lore on the RPers point of view. (There haven’t been mounted humans for more than 250 years for example.)Now, I’m sure there was more, but those are what I can remember off the top of my head.
Also, I’d be curious to know why exactly you want mounts?
1. No one would be forced to get a mount! Pro-Mount has already stated no more speed buff than that already exists.
2. I think we should be able to race them, count the progress towards Costume Brawl.
3. I have given you that answer many times already.

Eh, I’m not sure but there was this one user with awfully hostlie posts towards the end. That might’ve been it?
Anyways, since mounts can obviously be somewhat troublesome, and I’m guessing you just mainly want a new collectible set with some prestige and functionality, how bout collecting polymock pieces?
No by all means, was I being hostile, I just like to state facts which might sound mean, but the truth usually does hurt. And if it was that statement that got the thread locked then that was not my intention, I would love to hear your rebuttal and continue the denial(opps! I mean compromising conversation)in this thread. Oh btw if it was me then should I be getting a email? Haven’t seen one yet.
People posts about mounts every single day. Unfortunately they usually start their own threads and those threads get deleted.
Don’t worry though, since the mods said there can only be 1 mount thread, I’m going to make sure it grows by the day, and remains on the front page.
That’s what those of us who wanted appearance tabs in wow did. We bumped a thread for 2 1/2 years until blizzard finally announced transmogrify.
Which just goes to show how much those people care about the community.
They just want mounts, and ignore whatever effect that would have on the game. And make new threads ignoring what that does to the forum.I’ve counted some 600+ mount threads so far (After that I’ve lost track)… Lucky, most of them have been removed.
Anet itself is more damaging to the game itself than mount threads, I can count on both hands and both feet, friends that have left GW2 and gone to play another game, some of which would have liked to seen gw2 have mounts. So I guess in that view, I could say the same thing about you and that you do not care about the community just your own personal opinion. Yes there is a divide between the community towards mounts! But only one side have I ever noticed has been able to concede to make compromises and that is the pro mount side. The Neigh-Sayers(little pun) never try to compromise, if someone tries to give you a good compromise you will not listen or for that fact try help make a compromise even viable. I do not see why half of the pro mount even try to bend there ideas to please the neigh-sayers, this includes myself.
I do not need a good reason to be against mounts, they are just stupid imo.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
