First Annul Spooky Halloween Tarnished Coast Dolyak Parade
It’s Halloween time, and you know what means! Mummies, skeletons, ghosts, and spooky dolyaks! This weeks parade will be Halloween themed! Come dressed in your finest costume, whether that be a dolyak, a ghost and a creepy spider! Lets make this a holiday parade to remember!

For those who do not know, the Dolyak parade is a time where we get together and just have fun, and of course, parade around as dolyaks around the borderlands! Of course, you do not have to be a dolyak if you do not wish to be. In the past, everything from griffons to snowmen to elementals have flocked to our parade. So come out and celebrate the dolyaks, who sacrifice much for our endless war!

• Where: WvW borderlands. The exact one will be chosen ~1 hr beforehand
• When: Thursday (10/31) at 7 PM Server Time
• Who: Anyone is willing to participate! If you come and need a tonic, just ask a friendly DOLY representative and we can give you some to join in!
• How: If you choose to become a dolyak, there are 2 ways: a Ruminant Tonic, and a Dolyak Tincture (feel free to wiki these). Of course any other kind of tonic is welcome, or even none at all if you just want to run along!

Can you give some evidence besides some some quasi-handwaving anecdotal examples? I know people in my guild have tried this and it change nothing, and we have tried many times. Reset night shows this the most.

As far as I know, the group queue doesn’t work really anymore. When my guild queued for reset, we had 4-5 people all queued in the same map, and almost every time one player would get in long before another. They all get in at once, and it doesn’t seem to make the queues any shorter.

Anet won’t change the queues. The limits are mostly set for server side optimization. The larger WvW population servers (ESPECIALLY the stacked T1 servers in EU/NA) the longer queues. If you don’t want queues, either queue for borderlands (which normally have a much smaller queue because its not the EB farm-fest), or transfer. That’s the bottom line. People stacked servers, they’ll have to suffer very long queues.

I don’t see why people are blaming anet. They didn’t decrease queues when leagues came out. It was the PLAYERS who decided to try to game the system by stacking to 3 servers. The queue problem is not anets fault (at least the length..the buggy queues are).

As a TC’er i get frustrated with queues, but I’ve been here since the beginning. I won’t leave, but I won’t blame anet. I’ll adapt and just deal with the queues. If you’re on a gold league server, you’ll just have to deal, or transfer. Anet won’t increase the queue size, there is nothing wrong with it.

What would be really nice is to:
1) Know what the map cap actually is. This has never disclosed officially and it seems like this is pretty important information to the community
2) Information on the monthly WvW population average in various time bins (i.e. the average number of people in WvW on a given server between 2 am to 4 am). This would also be VERY helpful it people are looking to find a server to transfer to. Right now the only way to really judge these kinds of things is talking to people on the server
3) Add a utility showing the current average queue time (and maybe even make the queue work LIKE A QUEUE!). It definitely isn’t the case where it is first in the queue gets in the server first.

The issue I see with making transfers to less populated WvW servers is that the server population is set by the server limits, and it includes both PvE and WvW and sPvp people. For instance, TC is always one of the top populated servers in NA, but we don’t have the largest WvW population (~ 4th). Lower teir servers as well can be at “very high” in population. I believe even the T1 servers have a lower (Maybe BG is on par with TC) total population than TC. So allowing free transfers/cheap transfers based purely on WvW would not work the way that they do the servers.

Honestly, I think the fact that there are long queues now, mostly because of stacking, on T1 and a lot of T2 servers will start to balance out the population. People won’t stick around on a T1 server for WvW if they can never actually WvW! However, some things really should be added to give the community some more info so they can make the best decisions now for WHERE they want to go. Leagues will cause guild migration, and it would be fantastic if anet helped give as much useful information as possible to guide large transfers to places where they will have more of an impact.

I think there’s a reason they’re only like 20c ea….

We have zergers, every server has them. But compared to servers that are near us in ranking, we have significantly fewer of them.

Were you in the group on MagBL that had at least 4 cata’s and 20+ people and couldn’t take down a T2 wall? o.O You even put them in an area where had to go through choke points through water…

PvE people come into WvW for achievements —> get addicted —> more WvW people. Sure, not 100% of the people who are achievement hunting will stay, but even 10% staying will be great!

On a totally different topic than my post above: why do people care so much about solo roamers? I personally prefer to roam in groups of 3-5. This isn’t spvp, it’s WvW..so large scale. While I respect those who wanna roam solo, I don’t understand people saying “If you don’t run solo in a game play that is built for large scale war, you suck.” I’ve found too that many solo roamers just run the moment a fight gets turned against them (on all sides, on every server I’ve played against, and even TC people). I personally think that fights that are 3v3->5v5 are MUCH more challenging and tactical than solo. Solo roaming too is very dependent on your class, your build, and just how you like to play. I personally don’t like playing an MMO all by myself, so I get with a group of friends and roam with them.

Also, if you’re a purely solo roamer, you’re probably built for that. So, if you come upon a situation where you need to play in a group, you’re not as optimal as players who are built for group play. If players want to zerg, let them. If they want to roam, let them. If they want to solo, so what? This is a game, let players play how they want, and don’t insult other players because you feel your idea of “optimal” gameplay is superior. In the end, it doesn’t matter. Play the game how you want, and don’t insult others because they want to play it differently. Just have fun, and let others have fun! Since you know…the point of a game is fun, not a job.

(Btw, I do solo roam on occassion. If you see a small asura with a pink fro, or a human engi with a bright blu fro, that’s me! Feel free to gank me and try! I do like doing 1v1’s!)

The only thing that they should do is make it a glamour field. But then all the people would be complaining in pvp about all the confusion proccing from projectile finishers at an even more rapid speed!

I used to run medic’s feedback (still do if needed), along with a full reflection build (It’s on this forum somewhere…). Basically, if you pair up medic’s feedback with runes of mercy, you can heal people up almost within the duration of the feedback bubble, allowing you to rez allies in combat without taking any range damage. This build was incredibly powerful in WvW before all the AoE condition spamming began, since those mostly aren’t affected by reflections (i.e. necro marks).

If you pair this up with a normal feedback, focus reflects and distortion, you can keep reflects up a long time during combat. Plus if you use the other inspiration traits you can use the medics feedback more often (if you’re in a WvW zerg, proccing it off a fallen ally is actually really helpful, even if you don’t really rez the ally).

You’d be surprised how many times TC people die falling off cliffs or walls…it’s almost like we’re all just constantly drunk 24/7.

I’ve seen at least 10 BG mesmers roaming TCBL ruins doing this constantly, basically all seem to be from the same guild (I won’t say what guild, you know who you are!)

On TC we’ve been asking mesmers to not use this, please do likewise on your servers.

It’s interesting seeing the income evolution. It looks like TC basically constantly maintains it’s ppt 24/7 with BG and JQ constantly fluctuating based on the time of day. You can definitely see where JQ’s SEA comes in (and it even seems from the income report that, on average, JQ’s SEA mostly targets BG).

All in all, I’ve had fun this match! I just get sad when people zerg the ruins Even though the match is fairly unbalanced, it’s still competitive with some really good fights!

Its an exploit either by use of zoom hack or by faulty targeting.
Saying that its done without an actual hack doesn’t mean anet shouldn’t fix it.

Maybe in 3 years time they will. Of course we will have Ascended Golems flying in the sky and bombing all the siege.

How is it an exploit if they’re just rotating their camera to look through a gap? AC’s don’t require LoS, just like several class skills. It’s not an exploit to use the AC as an AC.

how many guilds did TC lose? Can you list them?

As far as I know, TC only list ZN (To get back with guilds they had played with a long time ago) and WvW (not sure of their reasons), and I believe both went to BG. TC did lose some individual players (not a lot) to JQ, but thats it.

However, we have gained several guilds as well. I talked with a couple people from [PHNX] from Borlis Pass and they seemed like lovely people! So, we’ve lost some, and we’ve gained some, which is fairly typical for TC. We keep a fairly stable population, but who is in that population comes and goes (it’s part of the reason I LOVE TC.! Get to know so many people!)

As for the leagues, who cares who comes in first? Honestly…it’s not like the 1st place team gets gold plated Lambo’s sent to them…it’s just kitten. If you don’t care about what place you get, the start of leagues won’t really change much besides your matches.

Also, I personally cannot hold an SEA dolyak parade this week. Ive already had no sleep because I had to do a graduate research defense earlier in the week, and I’m starting to get sick so I need my sleep. However, if any SEA people wish to try to hold their own and want to host one send me a message and I can help out (send you tonics, parade paths, etc). I did have loads of fun doing it last week, but I sadly just cannot this week

One thing I’ve always found funny about blobbing is a lot of players who I’ve talked to on servers that blob (TC is guilty of this sometimes) always say they don’t like blobbing and would prefer if people didn’t blob to get good fights. Then…they blob.

I’ve just never understood it. If as a whole you have a guild that doesn’t want to blob, DON’T. You don’t have to run with 5 guild groups. In fact, having many groups of 15-20 is much better than 1 blob of 60+. I hope if/when they remove WP’s this will solve this problem. The benefit of blobs right now is you can WP around in your stuff gets attacked, you only need 1 sentry, etc. (I also think they should remove being able to WP to other BL’s forcing people to use the portals).

Either way, I see people every match up from major T1/T2 guilds saying how against blobs and zerging they are, and yet those some guilds and people hop into the next blob they see. It’s in the power of the playerbase to play WvW as they choose. They don’t force blobbing. It’s just “easier” so people do it. And if you blob, admit it. Claiming you’re against blobbing, then hopping in the next blob saying “well…anet wants us to, so we’re going to! But I really hate it!” is just dumb. This week I haven’t been playing WvW much because I got tired of people claiming to want fights, then running from small group (<10) fights and running to blobs (or being a roamer, killing a few people then having a blob get called in to a ruin cap point). I’ve seen more blobbing around the ruins now more than anywhere else, since you get such a HUGE bonus for doing so.

If you don’t want to use it..well..don’t. You can already retrait for a very nominal cost, the gem store one is basically for convenience..just like the revive orbs.

TC, where are your roamers? :’(

Every time I try to roam, I get a couple decent fights before a zerg (20+) comes running for me. It really kills the fun when you have people run from you 1/2 the time, sometimes get good fights, then get zerged down 20v1 (and then get corpse jumped).

(Just to note, before the anti-TC posts: I’ve been in TC since beginning. Much of the inbalance in T2 isn’t because lots of guilds coming to TC at once. We get basically a constant trickle..what happens is guilds from other servers are leaving FA and DB and joining T1 (or from lower tiers) to stack up. Then T1 servers zerg and blob, and yet complain about blobbing and asking for small fights. Every T1 server is guild of it, and even TC is sometimes.)

Worst part…free weekend this weekend I believe Right after reset…last free weekend we had 4 accounts (all upleveled with random or troll names) draining keep supplies, killing golems, etc…

The matchups are not determined until the end of the matchup prior to season start. We could give you an estimate, but that might change.

I think even an estimate would be nice, as long as it is clearly stated that it is an estimate. I think what people are most concerned with isn’t if they’ll be rank 10 or 11 by the time seasons start, but how often they’ll be facing servers 5-6 ranks, OR MORE above them. Matches like r1/8/10 will of course be massive blow outs and be no fun for anyone.

The first league is going to be INCREDIBLY rough for any server below probably rank 6 or 7, since, if they face every server at least once, they will have at least several matches against T1 and T2 servers. This is, of course, the BIGGEST flaw of the leagues. Already there are guilds transfering to the T1 servers to stack them up.

My own opinion: I feel like Anet was wanting to make a big splash into WvW and GW2..but they’re doing in by doing a belly flop. I feel bad for T1 players since they very well could have a lot of match ups where they’re just PvD and spawn camping since theres so few players out.

I was just thinking that…it seemed like even simple works were getting caught in the censors LOL.

Trolls wiping the parade won’t stop it! If anything, as HUNT has learned, it just makes me sometimes “hire” bodyguards (bribing them with free bags from the enemy!) to wipe those people I didn’t do so this week because BG and JQ are normally good…but next time the dolyak parade will be getting some escorts (and NO, not those kinds!!) to help! But please, if you’re going to try to wipe the parade, at least be creative so we can get a good laugh! FA making HUNT and filling it with players using only rifle was actually fairly funny!

So the parade is all over the map capping other peoples objectives including keeps and spawn towers? I thought this was something that was just done at north camp or something out of the way. Not surprised its been hit the last two times it came to server 1 TBH. A similar event happens in T1 regularly which is karma train friday nights during Oceanic and Sea. Also known as drunk karma training by SOR I believe. There is no intention of fighting unless you pretty much stumble into it and go whatevers lets fight. But each week JQ fights and defends and takes advantage of the situation to get more kills and points out of it. So we go karma train somewhere else where we are less likely to get zerged and crack open another can of bourbon.

The TC Dolyak Parade has never capped a point (maybe a sentry by accident). We don’t cap. We start at the south camp and parade in a loop, maybe more, around the map…we don’t take stuff…we cant..we’re in dolyak form…

Nope, instead some of BG decided to step up to take the spot of “funkillers of the week”..to put in a…non-vulgar way. GG …you showed your colors, and in doing say made BG look bad to a bunch of TC people who had respect for you.

So, after much consideration and after many many requests, I have decided to host an SEA Dolyak Parade! Now all of our friends down under can join in on the fun that they have been missing! (The time is listed below. If it is not the best SEA time, LET ME KNOW ASAP!)

Map position isn’t random, unless they’ve changed it. It varies based off the prior week’s performance.

The map colors are “random” in the sense of the random match ups. While it is possible to get 3 o the same color, if you’re in one of the middle tiers, you’re very likely to swap around the colors a lot.
