However, a lot of us who don’t roam don’t wanna accidentally bank most of our siege in a borderland where there is no bank. If they’re taking up bank space, put them in a guild bank or something. But, even if you keep all types of siege, it only takes up what…6 spots or so? You can make it to the vendor to empty your bags more often than that :P Why inconvenience a lot of the non-roamers (and having them buy invis bags just to store siege isn’t very cool…especially since high storage room invis bags start to get costly!) just because you want more inventory slots?

On my mesmer I run a chaotic interruption+stealth build using perp runes, and it’s very fun roaming! The combination of stealths plus interrupts makes the mesmer very effective roaming (or doing small group, and of course, in a big zerg, you just gotta spam 1!)

This is especially a problem in WvW. Newer players will take far longer to get geared up to max stats than they did previously (when max stats were exotics).

This puts them at a disadvantage and probably discourages many from even trying WvW. (Imagine a fully geared Ascended glass cannon thief with permastealth and Guard Leech ganking a new player with two hits immediately upon arrival in WvW — is that new player going to ever return to WvW?)

This isn’t as big of a problem in WvW when levelling. An upleveled player in WvW shouldn’t be focusing on any one stat set, but just getting good gear altogether. WvW will give upleveled players decent amount of drops, and the upscaling is actually pretty decent. I went in on my level 25 ranger and I left with a bag full of mostly blue and green items.

Your comparison of a full exotic person ganking an upleveled player isn’t valid here. This is the case now, and it was the case since GW2 came out. That argument isn’t very useful here, at all. Upleveled players in WvW shouldn’t be roaming, and doing so is at their own risk If they join a large-scale war and get ganked doing small group stuff…well…I feel no pity! The upscaling is actually very strong in WvW (I got over 2000 vit on my engi once wearing only greens at level 15), so the gear isn’t AS big of an issue (Though it can be). It’s mostly just experience (I’ve seen upleveled alts taking on lvl 80 players successfully)

1) you can still buy the coin with gold (~25-30g)
2) After getting used to trib mode, I did all of w1 trib today using only 4 (FOUR) continuations
3) SAB is around for a month. Each time you finish 1 ZONE of trib you get ~250 baubles (so thats a lot of lives!)

The coin is not needed. It makes it so doing trib mode is much more relaxed though, that’s about it. A guild mate of mine today bought 140+ continuing coins today just from baubles gotten from w1 farming on normal modes (thats over 1400 lives). There are even guides now to help you through, AND they nerfed it! (I did it before the nerf and before good guides)

I have no problem going straight into W2. When you kill the King Toad, are you waiting for the timer to run out, and then doing the bonus level? Or are you killing him, grabbing your loot and immediately going to hub? I have a feeling you have to stick around for the bonus round…

Stop with the drama, no need for it, apart from the bit of emote spamming it’s been decent in-game.

TC at least can put the numbers up at times to get a zerg going, they just need a lot more training and better organisation to fight against a well battle oiled SoR.
You could do with more better WvW geared/traited players too and a LOT more situational awareness – don’t just stand there and let us cream right through or into you, it feels so bad
Hopefully you’ve some decent commanders willing to step up and if you do, listen to them and follow them.

Loving the opportunities for some smaller fights and 1v1’s. You’ve a lot of roamers running around on their own on TC O.o

I dunno why SoS were thrown in with us though, it seems very unfair on them. Not taking anything away from their players by saying that, it’s just fairly clear they don’t have enough interested WvW players on their server.

The golem god is surely with us. All of the servers in this match up have ranks that are power of 2, easily represented in binary:

SoR: 10 (1*2^1 + 0*2^0)
TC: 100 (1*2^2 + 0*2^1 + 0*2^0)
SoS: 1000

So, I think when reporting scores, we should do it in binary this week!!

My favorite part of the night: Turning the corner during the parade to see YAK stacked up. Then running like hell, and dying..then looking and seeing YAK being the one getting hunted down by Agg! Then, Agg ran past all the dolyaks…though they didn’t eat all the cookies I laid out for them…

For those who do not know, the Dolyak parade is a time where we get together and just have fun, and of course, parade around as dolyaks around the borderlands! Of course, you do not have to be a dolyak if you do not wish to be. In the past, everything from griffons to snowmen to elementals have flocked to our parade. So come out and celebrate the dolyaks, who sacrifice much for our endless war!

• Where: WvW borderlands. The exact one will be chosen ~1 hr beforehand
• When: Thursday (9/6) at 7 PM Server Time
• Who: Anyone is willing to participate! If you come and need a tonic, just ask a friendly DOLY representative and we can give you some to join in!
• How: If you choose to become a dolyak, there are 2 ways: a Ruminant Tonic, and a Dolyak Tincture (feel free to wiki these). Of course any other kind of tonic is welcome, or even none at all if you just want to run along!

So I went and bought the double health refill from W2 Z3. I used them up on the rapids so I went to restock.

And behold, each health refill has now quintupled in cost from 5 to 25, meaning it was FAR more efficient to just leave my health bottle unupgraded.

You know what’s cheaper? Lives! And they only cost 20 baubles apiece for 4 hearts! Seriously Anet, if you’re going to screw me over for buying an upgrade (that everyone has to get for an achievement) you could at least WARN people beforehand. (I’m betting lives will increase in cost the moment I get that 5th heart too.)

While I’ll talk about scaling “normal” for a casual player, I’m not going to suggest ’dumbing down" the mode created for the hardcores.

Who is talking about dumbing down ? The problem is you need the infinite coin to play normally. Rich =/= skill.

Nothing stops people from using gold → gems to get the coin. If you don’t have the gold, well…I don’t have the gold for a legendary, but I’m not on the forums saying only rich people can get it. I ran like 2 invasions and got enough gold to buy an infinite coin. Anet isn’t going to give everything to every player…you gotta farm/do content to get other content sometimes. If you want nice DYES, you gotta get the gold (think: an infinite coin costs around (if not less) than an ABYSS dye!) And theres plenty of people with an Abyss dye :P

Are you famous because any time you run by someone has a seizure? o.O it’s very…white and a funny looking charr (but I don’t prefer charr, so I’ probably say that for any charr! LOL).

That being said, is it that hard to get new dyes? o.O I too carefully dye my armor for my weapons, etc…but if I have to get a new weapon (for a new build in case of a nerf, etc), I just re-dye. It’s not like dyes are that hard to get…(I own them all on 1 character, and like 1/2 on another)

- Don’t get free gift: anet doesn’t care about their consumers since they get nothing for making a character a year ago (even if they spent no gems since then)
- Get free gift: Anet doesn’t care about their consumers because I didn’t get a totally rad gift that I definitely wanted. (And if I spent gems, then its never worth the amount of money I spent!)

Honestly, if I was anet seeing complaint posts about getting the free gift, I’d just no longer give them 2nd year+. Why should they if people are just going to come and make huge complaints about it? Oh it’s gets better, so this “league” is actually a glorified achievement. I can’t wait to see what lovely objectives there will be on the checklist. Kill the grub 100 times, kill the centaurs 100 times etc etc.

On another note, if you look at the top 3 servers compared to those below, there is such a large population/coverage different between even rank 3 and 4. How will the leagues be formed such that one server doesn’t get massively stacked and reap all the great rewards, leaving the lower ranked servers in that league basically unable to do much? Since much of winning in WvW is population coverage, if you give people rewards for being on the top server and getting in a blob, is there anything being done to make it so that the same server continuously gets all the rewards mainly because they stacked population?

All of the SMC gates were doing that for a while…it was very trippy…

I’ve looked at the way they’re introducing ascended weapons, and it seems like they’re doing it in the RIGHT way. There is really no grind or gate, and people from any playstyle can get them. They said it takes ~2 weeks to make, and with champion bags, etc, people from PvE or WvW can get them. They even made it so we get the mats from taking camps, towers or keeps!

So, you can really take your time to make it, without grinding. Dulfy’s site has a great post about the crafting mats, and its not like you need 250 of a bunch of random crafting supplies. You should be able to get all the mats you want by just playing the game normally. The only “grind” is getting your crafting to 500.

Well this was the first one made. Then the other one started to get filled with mostly the same people just spamming the thread insulting TC, calling TC guilds out saying they stink, and in general just overall flaming and troll baiting. So, you can pick which thread you want to stay alive for the one. The one which has been filled with 30+ posts of Mag people insulting TC people..or this one (Where I will try to give announcements for events, etc in the topic and try to make the thread actually useful!)

But the choice is yours, and eventually a moderator will close one of them (I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet).

On another note, I had some great fun in MagBL defending our hills and laying random supply traps all over the place! Best use of badges ever!

This rune is a serious problem in WvW at the moment. I’ve played several hours of wvw roaming in the last 2 days and it seems like 50% of my opponents (especially warriors, thiefes and ingis) are using this new rune.

I’ve never had problems with 1v1 fights in the past but with this rune most fights are a joke and I have zero chance to win against opponents with this rune. Combat usually starts with some interrupts for 10+ confusion. A good player can often interrupt my heal skill or condi remove for even more confusion and if i happen to successfully cast a condi remove I usually get 10 new stacks immediately.

This is obviously completely overpowered.

If you look at other confusion sources in the game this is even more obvious: Mesmer confusion usually lasts for 3-5s and only one single skill (scepter 3) can apply 5 stacks of confusion.

Please, dear developers nerf this rune in the next patch! It completely ruins small scale combat at the moment. A internal cooldown and reduced duration to 3-5 s would be very nice.

Last night on TCBL, there was a very large 3 way fight between CD, FA and CD (over 20 people each server, in open field, VERY fun!). I never had more than 10 stacks of confusion on me, and I don’t run a condition clear. And with those 10 stacks, I pulled back for a second.

In a 1v1, they CAN be strong, however, your opponent has to focus on doing damage with confusion and doing interupts.

Yes, these runes are powerful and need to be tweaked (I think a 5-10 second ICD wouldn’t be so bad). However, are the coming of the WvW apocalypse that people here have been proclaiming? No. This is the SAME kind of speach used against glamour mesmers, or ANYTHING to do with confusion, EVER. The moment people start using confusion, the forums go ABLAZE! However, you rarely see threads like “I was chain feared, then loaded with a 4 conditions instantly”…or “one _ stacked 25 _ (bleeds), and I died. It’s OP”, or “I got chain stunned and couldn’t do anything, nerf stuns!”. There’s just something about confusion which makes people go mad…it doesn’t even do guaranteed damage!

When I used to run a shatter/glamour confusion build a long time ago, I could stack 22+ confusion on a target. The smart ones would run back and wait, then strike me. The not-so smart ones would hitting “1” and die in 4 seconds.

tl;dr: Yes, the runes are powerful and need some tweaking. Just be calm and wait, it’ll come. Most of the fuss is just because it’s confusion, and people get all crazy the moment they see confusion on their bar and seem to have a mini-stroke. People have a problem with confusion, not really this rune. If this rune instead did a bleed on interupt, no one WOULD SAY ANYTHING.

I’d be worried about 1 commander per map. How would that be decided, if for instance, 3 people are on the map with the same commander requirements? First come, first serve? And what would the requirements be to make it so that the people who are the “omni”-commanders are actually people interested/experienced in commanding?

Honestly, I don’t stay at 25 stacks for long. Do you know what we say in mumble when we see someone with 25 stacks? “Get him! +60 WXP!”. 25 stacks is just a big beacon about how much juicy WXp you’re worth!

Plus, I find more utility in the “on dodge” or “on kill” skills, like more endurance, or a heal with every kill, etc…The premise of this that people stay at 25 stacks from the moment they enter WvW to when they leave..which they rarely do

I think TC’s reputation as recruiting to push into T1 is totally uncalled for. TC’s recruiting push to me was more about never losing. Yes, those type of people/guilds transfered to TC. People that want to win but rarely have to matchup with somebody higher ranked with themselves. Those looking for an easier wvw experience.

The tears coming from this type of post used to be delicious awhile ago – now they are just stale…

If I wanted to bite, I would say that whatever server your kind self is from is certainly giving us an “easier” wvw experience… but that would be too easy, eh.

Every server below you gives you an easier wvw experience. That’s what the recruiting was for. When matched up with servers closer to your population and coverage (T1 servers are closer than T2 servers) those T1 servers get an easier wvw as well.

Actually, when we started facing T1 servers and losing, a lot of the people active were transfer guilds…they didn’t just disappear.
We recruit for the same reason every server recruits…we want to have more people! It’s not about winning, or losing. Some of the people who have transferred have become some of the people I play in game with most!!
Maybe, instead of a saying we recruiting a bunch of people who just want an easy win, you should ask why they didn’t go to your server? TC has never, as far as I’ve known (and I’ve been around TC for a long long time), BOUGHT guilds, nor have we ever offered gold for them to come. Frankly, we wouldn’t really like those people. What happens? Well, people guest to TC to see how it is, and is faced with a really fun, totally diverse population. There’s something for everyone here, with very little judging. We’re a friendly server, and we love to have fun! At least, those are the biggest reasons I’ve heard from people who have transfered here. If they wanted to stack a server to win in T2, they could have gone to any of the T2 servers, but they came to TC, without bribes…well, except bribes of yummy noms!

I for one am so glad TC has gotten all the transfers. There are many fantastic people I have gotten to know from them transfering! Win or lose, it doesn’t matter. However, we have so much fun regardless! (Even during T1 when we were outmatched we were still doing the fun silly stuff!)

I have to give lots of props to the thief from UP. When we were “ninja” cata’ing your hills with 4 of us, he kept HS’ing around inner and spam repaired! Then when we pushed into the LR, he didn’t run, but went with us and tried his best to delay us! I commend you for not just giving up and running off, but staying to fight until you died!

Anyways, besides that comment, people here are right. Ascended is for fractals. If ascended weapons don’t have sigils, then they’d be much less powerful than exotics with sigils in pvp/WvW and PvE (though honestly in PvE for dungeons stuff like sigils rarely matter as long as you have a decent group…). Ascended gear was made basically for the people who came from the more “traditional” MMO’s that really like having a vertical grind, so they made fractals and ascended gear to let those players farm a small set of content for their vertical grind. If you’re not interested in farming fractals, theres very little benefit to getting ascended gear.

They announced this change quite some time ago. So, anyone who invested in celestial/MF gear for PvE farming after that really has nothing to say. They gave players AMPLE warning about this. It’s not like they said:
“Oh, tomorrow all your MF still will be gone. Sorry”

This has been known about for quite some time (around early July-ish?).

So, if you invested a LOT of gold into making full celestial, JUST FOR THE MF, well….that’s on you. I don’t feel sorry for anyone that focuses their gear on MF…at all.

Plus, wouldn’t you MF guys be happy? Now you can find PERMANENT MF boosters and temporary ones as random drops, etc…so you don’t HAVE to have it as the armor. So, yeah, your stats on celestial gear for MF will be gone, but why add buffs? If they buffed the defensive/offensive stats by “10%” they would be quite unbalanced. You could add 10-20% MF on any piece of armor and the combat balance wouldn’t change. Adding combat boosts to compensate for removing a small non-combat boost would be ridiculous. If they add a boost, it should be non-combat. Maybe a boost that every time you get hit you have a 10% chance of spawning a little baby quaggan that says “You’re my hero!”…idk..or maybe add a small bonus for out of combat run speed, or +karma.

TL;DR: Adding combat stat advantages which were balanced initially to compensate for removing non-combat stats would just be insane, and most likely unbalance that armor in combat (where you know..the balance matters. If you have +50% MF on your gear, it won’t give you any advantage in combat)

Of course, you do not have to be a dolyak if you do not wish to be. In the past, everything from griffons to snowmen to elementals have flocked to our parade. So come out and celebrate the dolyaks, who sacrifice much for our endless war!

Information

• Where: WvW borderlands. The exact one will be chosen ~1 hr beforehand
• When: Thursday (8/29) at 7 PM Server Time
• Who: Anyone is willing to participate! If you come and need a tonic, just ask a friendly DOLY representative and we can give you some to join in!
• How: If you choose to become a dolyak, there are 2 ways: a Ruminant Tonic, and a Dolyak Tincture (feel free to wiki these). Of course any other kind of tonic is welcome, or even none at all if you just want to run along!
