Mesmer – FURY
Rank 55 – Bunker Engi, Top 300
As many people said, this has a very easy, and natural solution. People will follow commanders they like. New players might get confused, and follow a random commander, but if they don’t like that commander, they’ll switch to another. On my server there are quite a few commanders, but sometimes you see a few running around by themselves because everyone is going to a more known, respected commander. The tag in the end means nothing in the log run. People follow the commanders because the commanders are fun and do well. So there is really no reason to change how they are now.
I see no good way to change it now that won’t fix the “gold” sink issue. If you make it influence, people can still just farm the gold for influence. If you make it with achievements, you then have to ask: what achievements would be worth it to get which would qualify someone as a commander? (Especially since to get the WvW titles is nearly impossible over a short time). Plus, there are people who successfully use commander tags to do some PvE things (they’re actually fairly helpful in guild missions!).
Personally, I think they should remove the badge rewards from the JP to force people who want to get the badges to actually earn them…jumping for 5 minutes should not give you the same badge reward as killing quite a few people.
That is a very ridiculous statement. You have no idea why the ledges are there, in fact, they’re probably just there for graphics sake, since you know….every castle has walls like that on top…
So to say using chain pulls should be a bannable offense is just laughable, at best….
Mesmer deals way to much damage when downed
Let me just reiterate this point for a final time: a mesmer deals effectively NO damage in downed state if you just spike him. IF you’re ikittenvZ, then the rogue is extremely easy to avoid. It visibily spawns behind you, and you can dodge. Our downed state can be more accurately described as “annoying”, but so can many others.
“I got knocked back by ____ 5 times until I fell off a cliff. Please nerf all knockbacks”. See, it sounds silly when its not about a mesmer, huh?
It’s coordination, so its not OP. Don’t insult your opponents by saying that their coordinate makes them OP. Any ability with coordinate can be OP.
IF it was a mesmer, it was probably a wording bug on our downed rogue skill. However, that skill takes forever to come up. You basically have to down a mesmer and sit there staring at him for almost a minute, then stand still when it obviously spawns behind you. The easiest way to finish a mesmer is to just spike him. It negates all his skills. If he teleports, find him and spike him, and he won’t even have the rogue skill up yet. As with most things with the mesmer, it plays on people mostly just spamming auto attacks….if you down a mesmer, spike him. Don’t sit there auto attacking him, thats how the confusion gets you.
So, to sum up: spike him instead of staring at him. Rejoice.
Since everyone seems to be overlooking it, and just yelling NERF THE MESMER like a mob with torches and pitchforks, let me remind you this: it takes a LONG time for the mesmer be able to use it. If you down a mesmer, you can just spike him. If he teleports spike him. The confusion doesn’t affect your spike. Even if the mesmer teleports, if you immediately spike him, he won’t even have a chance to use the illusionary rogue. Our downstate is one where we have no knockbacks, etc. Once again, the strength of the mesmer class is playing against people who just try to spam auto attacks, etc at us to kill us. The confusion a mesmer gives you does NOTHING, let me repeat in a megaphone: “NOTHING” if you just spike him. If hurts you only if you stand there auto attacking him down instead of finishing him. The teleport is fairly useless in a non-ZvZ setting, since most of the time it ports you into an AoE. So, the only time this skill comes in play, or our confusion comes in play, is if you see a downed mesmer and go “I won’t finish him, I’ll just auto attack him down”.
All of the mesmer down states are so easy to avoid by just running up and spiking him. We can’t do much damage initially, and before rogue is able to even be used you have time for over 3 spikes worth. You have to basically down us and forget we’re there, and stand perfectly still. So, no reason to nerf…just hit 1 key. Just 1 key. You’re finish key. That simple folks.
There’s been some really fun and great fights tonight! Hats off to everyone for continuing to push and keep the fights alive It’s been a very interesting week
And remember! Dolyak parade on thursday! I hope to see all sides there just having a great time and having fun! (Details will be posted tomorrow or thursday on it!)
EDIT: Score update
(edited by Handin.4032)
Anything I can do without the tag? As I stated I have approx 6g. I would prefer not to play the tp for money because I play this game for fun, not economics
When I wanted my tag, I started at 8g. In 1 week I had my tag, and I didn’t have to play more thakittenhours a day on a week day and like 8 hours on the weekends. I basically just farmed AC and CoF, salvaged my rares, etc. I was able to farm upto 80g in that time, and then got some donations from guild mates, and a couple people from my BL. If you really want your tag, you can do it you just have to be focused that week on getting your tag, and trying to not spend extra money!
As for what you can do…just try to talk to him and whisper and tell him what you think
Well the krait by Teq might have been because people could sit there and farm it constantly for lots of loot and never have to face dying…
As for open world getting tougher, I can kinda understand why Orr would be “hard” open world. And, for the record, I don’t like roaming in Orr. Remember, Orr is basically the enemy stronghold, so of course it’ll be a it harder to roam around in there
If some of the scalings got funky, which I wouldn’t be surprised, than just wait until the next big update, and see if it gets changed
SO, if you love roaming the open world, just remember what all the zones are. Some will be friendly, and some won’t be Orr is mostly frustrating not because the toughness of the mods, but the density of mobs, which can get silly.
I think the issue is two fold:
1) They’re basically giving out FREE rares. 1 free rare basically for like 5+ events, so lots of people are now going to get their free rares.
2) The guesting issue is mostly on already populated servers. If a server is full, then guesting only adds to the issue. However, guesting to lower population servers causes no issues. In fact, I guested to Anvil Rock from TC because for once I could actually use my skills.
The frustration I can see is this: If you’ve spent your entire time on one server, the last thing you want is to get thrown into an overflow, or not be able to play the material on your OWN server because people are guesting to it from other servers. I think guesting is a great way to play PvE content with your friends, but you must remember, many of the people guesting to kill the dragons are probably there because the timers are up..not to see a friend.
Since I think the biggest issue with guesting for the dragons is that it’s making servers which are already really full, even fuller. SO many there are a couple easy ways to fix this, which don’t get rid of guesting, like:
1. If there is an overflow, the home server players get priority over guesting people. This should allow people who are friends to keep playing together, since you can join an overflow, and they’ll still be allowed to guest. It will also stop a lot of the griping, and then if they get thrown in an overflow, it’s 100% because of their server filling it, not guesting, so people can stop complaining. I don’t see any downside to this, but I am quite tired
2. Make the availability of guesting dependent on the population of the server. I’m not sure if this is already done, but I know there is a lot of guesting on TC, when you normally can’t get in the server when you make an account.
But the anti-guesting derogatory talk is kinda saddening. Guesting is a great idea in concept, but when they’re giving away free rares, of course it’ll overload the areas and cause lots of problems. I’m just not sure the people at anet really thought it through 100% of the way…
Score update, brought to you by the Golden Dolyak
Have a good next matchup!
Well, in my opinion: people who’s server is “home” should not miss out on timed events because they’re forced into an overflow from guesting. Now, the issue may NOT be guesting, but instead the new popularity of the chests. Have any devs commented on this? Because it is kinda lame that people in their own home server can’t do things because of guesting..and we shouldn’t be forced to guest to another server because things aren’t accessible on our home server.
Now, I welcome those who guesting, and I don’t think this issue is their fault, but instead a possible oversight on ANet’s behalf, and I get really sad when I see the anti-guesting talk….
The ONLY reason the jumping puzzles are easily finished with a mesmer helper is because the way that they were designed. They’re some of the only JP’s in the game where a mesmer can easily get people to the final part. And personally, as a mesmer, I would be ok with disabling portals in JP’s, even though I really only use them for check pointing.
As for the temporal curtain part…that’s just laughable. Many CC’s you cant see. It’s no differnt than another class standing at the top of a ledge and using melee knockbacks. So, I think you’re frustrated, but remember, in the WvW jumping puzzles, you rarely die if you get knocked down. In the BL ones you basically just fall into the water unless you’re in a reallybad spot, and I cant think of anywhere in the EB one where you can get pulled off where you would fall far enough to die…
Alright here is my opinion, and yes, I am a confusion mesmer right now (I change builds fairly often trying things out). Most of the time I dominate someone as a confusion mesmer is against a player who continually stands in my feedbacks and spams range attacks at me. Confusion is one of the easiest conditions to deal with because you can make it do NO damage. That’s right, NO damage. All the others you take damage automatically. The only counter argument I have seen made to say that confusion is OP is basically “well, it can kill me and I can’t kill him!” But that doesn’t mean the condition is OP at all, in fact, it’s fairly balanced. And people keep talking about how a “good confusion mesmer” is hard to kill. So yes, then he/she probably just knows thir class very well. It’s quite lame to basically tell that person that they arent good, they’re just using an OP condition.
I have played several different builds of mesmer, including glass tank sword/pistol+GS mesmer. The only reason my confusion build dominates people at times is because they become totally oblivious to me stacking confusion on them and stand in my glamour fields and spam auto attacks endlessly until they’re dead. Mesmers CANNOT instantly stack more than 6 confusion (and that gets rid of all our clones!). To get more than that and not notice means that you’re not notcing it when you get hit by the other mesmer attacks. If everything lines up perfectly for me, and no attacks get evaded, I can stack upto 18-20 confusion stacks. However, if the player just kites back for 2-3 seconds, it all goes to waste. It only kills people who don’t pay attention and don’t know to just run back. Kiting a glamour mesmer will hurt them much more than you, since they rely on the confusion damage and maybe a greatsword for extra dps. They’re relying on you being oblivious, that’s basically it.
I won’t say its a l2p issue, more like a “learn the build” issue. I’d recommend talking with a guildmate who is a mesmer, and figuring out what attacks, etc can create confusion, and I think you’ll find it’s really easy to counter. I duelled a guildmate mesmer who was able todominate me a decent amount of the time because he knew how to deal with confusion I’ve divulged some of our secrets here, so, learn from them
Well, once again: I’m sure anet dev’s know this. I challenge them to come on this thread and tell us mesmers that that is an exploit and we should stop doing it. In my mind, we’re not idle. We’re there, coordinating, etc…so we’re not circumventing an “idle” timer at all. Now, if it was a death clock that we were circumventing, thats something totally different….
Here’s my thing: It has been done for quite some time, and yet I rarely see ANYONE try to actually do anything about countering it. It just happens, and they come on here to cry foul…ALL these arguments were used when people starting portaling into keeps, and yet not many people use that tactic. To keep saying “It’s not intended” is silly, because no DEV has come on and stated that it should not be done and will be changed. So, instead of just griping about it and grumbling about it, you can learn to counter it many people who try the tactic give up after waiting for a short amount of time..there’s only a few people who have the patience to sit for a while. And as for waiting for an hour..if you cannot find a thief in a tightly confined area in 1 hour, then you need to lay some more AoE’s. Earlier in Bay, the thief was finally caught after they finally figured out how to lay some necro marks in smart places. I’ve seen MANY times when people lay necro marks on walk ways trying to get the thief, when many CnD thieves stand in the same spot on the same wall….
But I’m sure if ANet doesn’t want this done, they’ll change it Tuesday or at least make a post about it. I’m sure they know about it. So, instead of trying to debate what we think anet wants to do, or what they think or don’t think is just silly because we aren’t them. If you hate the tactic, just learn the easy way to counter it (it’s just like sweeping for mesmers, just more AOE!), and wait to see if anet actually says or does anything about it But it’s no more abusing than a thief to cnd off siege to stay permastealthed while killing your siege, or rangers throwing pets onto walls past LOS constantly, or any of the other so called “cheap” tactics..
And I doubt when ANet was designing mesmer portals, they thought about the idea to hide in a keep and portal people through…however, it is used that way and it is NOT an exploit. It’s not a matter of whether or not it was intended…but whether or not its exploited play. It’s a defense which CAN be countered, as long as people just don’t run off the moment they take a keep. Thieves CnD’ing off of walls isn’t too hard to counter, since theres only a finite number of walls people can CnD off of, so, its called AoE and spamming 1 at those spots…
Your arguments would be valid if ANet had stated that any of these tactics were exploits. They said the teleport hacks were exploits, thats why they’re not legit tactics. However, using a mesmer to stay in a keep is perfectly fine and legal and legit tactic. You may not like it, but it is…
Since CnD is not an exploit, it isn’t breaking integrity. There’s a simple way to counter a CND thief…leave some necro traps, or camp the dead bodies, and spam one. In most keeps/towers there are only a limited number of walls that can hit for damage, so just spam your 1 near there, or lay some AoE’s, and you can find the thief nice and fast!
Fyi, I don’t appreciate the ram being built on my face I even gave you Chocolate Oranges!
Sounds like you guys yell “unfair advantage” when somebody comes up with a clever tactic. All I’m going to bring up here is the Trojan Horse, it was a proven tactic from ancient greece, since then governments and police agencies around the world have implemented spies and deep cover operatives. This in my eyes this is no different, and branches from a concept that works. I am all for clever things so my vote goes with the guys who do it well, and the first time I saw a dead mesmer being rez’d by a thief was PiNK from Tc, and I was amazed. Good on them for tricking us, mad respect guys.
Sadly, that might have been me..I’ve spent too many hours dead in a keep with someone sitting on my face camping me like a national forest…it’s a really amazing tactic to use, but now I think many BG and KA are catching on to our devious ways! I must say, you guys have really learned how to sweep a keep thoroughly!
Auburn gets it. Thank you. One more reason of many why I have a man crush on [PiNK].
I have a crush on PiNK too <3 Hi Jadon! Hi Handin! Hi Deyja! (Shhh. Don’t tell Tryce.)
Hi ellie! Looking forward to ANOTHER dolyak parade!
I personally never have a problem with Confusion or really any conditions period, but that’s probably cause I am playing a condi-removal Staff Ele and my groups rarely ever have more than a single stack of anything for more than a second or two.
Portal right now is within the realm of reasonable, but saying that it is not a required tool on the field just shows how little you actually know about WvW.
So you pop on a thread to just complain some more about mesmers? What have we done to you? And as a mesmer who deals a lot with portals, I may assure that you portals are NOT required for field play. They are not required at all. In fact, most of the portals I see end badly because mesmers aren’t practiced in good placement and timing. Portals are only required when a mesmer is hiding in a keep. In that case, people should know better by now to sweep for mesmers and camp dead bodies. All the spots are basically known.
Now, onto confusion! Confusion only gets out of hand when you get a lot of stacks on it. Normally if I have 2-3 stacks of confusion, I just blow right through them since they don’t do much damage. It’s when you get over 8 stacks it starts getting back. But there’s a very easy solution: pop some survivability skill, run back for a couple seconds, and then run back. I don’t of any class that can keep confusion 5+ constant during a 1v1 fight, just bursting. As for in a raid setting…well….kinda tough luck. All the conditions stack, and at least if you’re in a raid v raid fight you can afford to stop attacking for few seconds and it won’t affect your raid too much, and then just try to stay out of standing in glamor fields.
Most of the times I get lots of kills from confusion is when I lay a Feedback on an enemy attacking a keep, and people continue to stand in there while I lay glamor fields on top and just keep auto attacking (I’m staring at you rangers!!). AoE is very lovely in this game, in that it gives you very obvious graphical signs a lot of the times…
What about a new Legendary Orange Pin crafted using these mats :-
3x Commander Pins
1,000,000 Karma
2000 Badges
200 Laurels
XXX amount of Guild influenceBasically, make it incredibly hard to get and base it on WvW
That’s a bit much, sine people would be forced to basically PvE for the 3 commander pins, and we’d have the same problem we would have now basically, except maybe more people in the JP’s? Plus, you can get badges and the karma by just running around yakslapping and killing up leveled noobies to WvW..
What I think would be good is kinda build off your idea of guild influence. Have commanders be tied to guilds, and need certain level of upgrades, so that small guilds can have access to it and have a commander, and larger guilds could have a more proportionally. Then let the guild have a toggle of sort to say who’s the commander.
Or have it tied to certain traits, like needing T2/3 of X amount of the WvW traits and you gain it. Then you’d have to defend, you’d have to take, you’d have to kill, etc.
SO, I was thinking, what is the big change that needs to make the ranking algorithms work right? Math and open data. Yup, that’s it. And mostly just the math. And there are lots of people on here who think they have a good idea on how to fix it. So, here is my idea. There are many fans in GW2, and some of us, such as myself, have higher education in mathematics or similar studies. So, why not USE the massive idea pool that they have here? I’m guessing there are many people here who love WvW, who would love to put their education into use to help ANet, maybe even for free, with just recognition.
Anet could simply offer a challenge, to run for say 2 weeks or a month. They could give out lots of data publicly available. What kind of data? Well, data such as:
1. Server rankings for the past few months
2. Server populations for the past few months
3. Server activity for the past few months (if they have it)
Then simply let their massive fan base do it! They could even offer something special for the person who, in their view, has the best algorithm. Like what? Well, here are some options:
1. Free expansion packs for the rest of the game (really, compared to cost of hiring someone to do this, it’d be much cheaper)
2. A special set of cosmetic armor just for him/her and a special set of weapons
3. Special title
4. A certain amount of gems per month for some amount of time
I know that I myself would love to try to develop some new algorithm that might help the rankings, especially in the lower tiers, and to help keep stable the servers for long term. I know the server rankings are getting better slowly, but for some servers every week of getting stomped is just hurting them more.
SO, ideas? Just an idea I had randomly!
They could always add an additional channel to the maps (WvW and/or Pve areas) that is just for commander chat. Then, if you see one just mindlessly spamming and you dont want to see it, you can suppress that channel. Commanders could then command their forces, and people who don’t want to see it, don’t have to.
There is no need to nerf confusion, it is really easy to counter. This whole thread sounds like it was started by a glamour build mesmer and kept auto attacking. If you get 10+ stacks of confusion on, take a break, run back some (don’t Auto attack) and wait for the couple of seconds that it wears off. Most of the time I kill someone with confusion its because they’re just spamming auto attack. It’s not like a bleed which does damage anyways. It’s very easy to counter, just don’t be someone who spams auto attack.
As a mesmer, it gets REALLY old to hear people constantly whining about the class claiming things are OP which really aren’t. I have found confusion kills people most who just try to stand in one spot and spam auto attacks. It doesn’t last very long, and it is VERY difficult for mesmers to get lots of stack at once, especially 1v1. As a glamour build mesmer, if everything lines up in place, I can get over 20 stacks of confusion. But thats only if everything goes down perfectly, and all they have to do is not attack for a few seconds and run back and all that work was for nothing.
Threads like this just get silly with people whining about every time they die by _ skill. Every skill, every ability can be “OP” if used well. If you ever die by a class and they just roflstomp you, do what I do, just laugh to yourself and think “Well, I’ll get him next time!” But it is kind of lame to say that a person only wins because their skill of choice is OP, when they just know how to use it well.
That was a great dolyak parade! And thanks to the SoR people that joined us! I cant wait for next week!
You do realize you lose more than anyone else? Blackgate and FA are going to eat up your rating. You will be in a lower tier than even us. I mean unless you guys want to go to T5/6.
At least if things stayed the same, you are fighting a T1 server(BG or SoS) and FA. You would have gained rating against BG. Now you’re just going to lose it completely and fall down to such a low tier.
SO what if we get down to T5/6 for a short time? We’ll fight our way back up. I don’t think you full grasp TC. We don’t fight for the ratings, we fight for fun! Who says FA will eat up our rating? In the end, it doesn’t matter. TC will have fun no matter where we end up!
Had a blast last night, thanks to all the commanders and guilds who helped with the surprise party on SoRBL last night
I was the blue dolyak
I have a special message from Team Dolyak for our fellow Tier 2 Servers:

Your movie just made my day….very well done, and welcome to TC! I definitely think you’ll fit in great here!
Purposefully glitching the tower lord is an exploit in my book imo…..
All of the WvW keep lords/tower lords are notoriously buggy. It’s happened many times that I’ve seen when one of them just stops attacking for some reason..they get CC’ed and it seems to snap them out of it. Then they’ll get stuck again, etc…If the person they target goes stealth, or decoys, etc they freak out as well. It’s not purposeful bugging in the sense they were trying to bug it. It’s just the lord’s AI seems to freak out when stuff like stealth happens. Sadly, thieves use stealth, so it will look like they are bugging it when they’re really not.
I think TC is one of the funnest environments I’ve ever played in in any MMO. We seem to have a decent amount of every. If you want to do WvW, we have MANY dedicated WvW’ers, as well as several large WvW guilds, lots of smaller ones, and even a decent amount of RP WvW (which can be really fun to see in chat!), as well as a new 10k slot mumble, etc. If you’re into PvE, we have people constantly running just about everything in a good environment. If you’re into RP, there’s lots of that too!
But what I really have enjoyed is the environment. It’s quite relaxed and really focused on just having fun, even while doing serious things. We’ve had events like a mini quaggan group (people tonic’ed as mini quaggans) running around in WvW, etc. And when things get rough for us, we just laugh and have fun despite getting our butts kicked!
I would definitely check out the site tcgw2.com (though note, just like any server wide forum it can have some drama). But there will be some good contacts on that site for people to get ahold if you have any questions, or want to transfer. We have been arranging black outs with a lot of the WvW guilds to try to bring in new transfers.
Either way, I’m sure all of TC would be glad to have you join The Toast!
I really want to applaud the thief that kept searching for me in TCBL Bay. You really kept me moving! Though in the end you got me killed, I’m glad you actually swept your bay and kept me on my toes! Really well done, and actually was really fun for me I hope you enjoyed my many tonic’ed shapes
I just saw that! I’m obviously the sexiest one in the picture!
Sorry, but you cant beat a sexy asuran!
Sexy score update with sexy extras!
You’re right Handin is kitten sexy.
Now now, it isn’t a time to bring jealously in
So…since when was camping 6 mesmers in your keep, and using a thief to stealth rez hacking?
It’s a tactic that has been used many times quite successfully
(edited by Handin.4032)
Not sure how this person was in the wall but…
They were actually deeper inside the wall/under the ramp initially, to the point you could only see part of their name. Luckily AOE’s still work for that sort of thing.
OMG…my armor looks seriously like it is glowing pink in those graphic settings…on my screen its only like normal pink. Whatever settings you use, it makes me glow pink (and not PiNK, which I also glow). If any enemies use the option to see opponents dye jobs, I think they could see me shining from atop garrison o.O
Sorry to say it, but the JP is in a WvW zone, and gives WvW rewards. It gives badges and siege. So, yes, you might face people there and certain death. If you want WvW rewards, you’ll to do some WvW to get them. If you want to do PvE jumping puzzles, do so. You are not required to do jumping puzzles for PvE, so there is nothing to whine about.
When I hear of a guild camping a JP with siege, I just laugh. Hard. That siege counts towards their cap. The more siege they have in there, the better. The more people and guilds they have in there the better. Why? Because it means they aren’t being useful out in the field and just farming badges.
It sounds like what happened which made you post this was a mesmer placed a portal into the center of your lord room. Sadly for you, this is exactly how the skill should be used. However, it has one massive down side. It is the ONLY skill I can think which actually lets you know EXACTLY where the enemy will be coming from. If the siege in your lord room was only arrow carts, that is your problem. But even then, lay down AoE and CC and sure enough you just farmed 20 people. If your issue is that you were against a larger force, and they portaled in, well, they were still the larger force.
Despite what people may think, it is easier to take advantage of the enemy portaling than them to actually lay the portal. Mesmer portals are one of the easiest mechanics to counter in the game in WvW, all you have to do is stop, breath, think, AOE. I have seen more failed portal bombs than successful ones by far.
There are several reasons why populations drop off midweek (especially on our server).
1. People get really tired of night capping. Why spend countless gold, and 5 hours a night capping stuff, upgrading it, etc, if it will just get taken effortlessly by a server (who then ironically most of the times brag about taking an unguarded keep) during the night? Many PuGs lose hope eventually, so they’ll only come out to take stuff the first time.
2. People who move up in tiers, like ours, have to face a different environment. We went from constantly winning, having an easy time and basically just farming badges to having to fight for what we take. Many of the people on our server I think got used to it being easy, and are “waiting” for it to get easy again, or get down about WvW and stop, especially since there are very rewards for it outside server pride.
So we don’t need new maps, we just need something to allow players who have to fight very hard to keep stuff to stop from losing morale and leaving because they see no point. Things like cool loot from badges or WvW only loot from the bags (even if it is purely cosmetic), or titles which are more feasibly attainable (i.e. not killing ten’s of thousands of people), might provide a bit of incentive.
Biggest question I can ask is:
When you are in mist form, on your buff bar, do you lose the boon that states that you are downed? If not, then it means, in the game mechanics, when the mist form is actually doing is “rezzing” the player, making them invuln and in mist for for the time, then “downs” them again. This would explain why using it counts as 2 downed states.
If that is the case, then the fact they can use it is 100% a bug, since it is a downed state skill, and you are still technically “downed”. My guess is, this was the best way they could do it, since in the downed state you cannot move normally. If this is the case, then they should fix the bug (like adding another condition on the portals that you cannot go in with the mist form icon on your buff bar, similar to how it works with the downed state).
As for those ele’s crying about how they’re being targetted, I have one thing to say to you: GET OVER IT. As a mesmer, they’ve nerfed quite a few of our stuff because of QQ on forums. Yet we move on. If your saying you NEED mist form in WvW, then I’m sorry, but you probably just camp next to portals anyways. If they were to get rid of (which I don’t think they should do), I’m sure you all would learn to just deal with it. It isn’t a critical skill, at all.
For those, for some reason, complaining about portals in this thread, I have this to say to you: Please, PLEASE look up my responses to other QQ threads about it. It is such a cop out to say it’s OP because of culling. Why? Because the big pink glowing sign that tells you “PEOPLE HERE!!” is not affected by culling. The attackers have culling issues (they cannot see you! GASP!). When you see it, throw a few AoE’s and CC’s, and you have just farmed bags. A supermajority of portal bombs fail miserably, all you get is free loot bags. So please, stop whining about it. It doesn’t make people invuln, all it does it let people into keeps (only if you never sweep…it really is easy if you spend 1 minute securing your own tower/keep with 5 people), and is the ONLY game mechanic which actually gives you a big sign pointing to where the bad guys are going to be. It’s not stealthy at ALL.
Anyways, in summary: It is most likely a bug. Everyone who whines about it: yes, it sucks, but who cares. It’s only one of many broken mechanics which the devs will probably never address (notice no ANet employees have commented on this issue ever). To eles: Stop getting kitten that someone is whining about your skill. Be glad they aren’t demanding your nerfs to your firestorms or your projectile blocks. You have a skill that uses a funky mechanic and people don’t like it. Deal with it and stop getting all defensive with your excuses. It’s a cheesy way to avoid dying. Accept it. It’s ok, every player uses cheesy method.
Sorry for the longish post, but threads like this kinda bug me -.- Since people QQing about stuff like this is why my class got the nerf-hammer several times.
Lemme just add that the mesmer clone teleport buys you at most like 5 seconds, and most of the time it teleports you into more danger than you were before. It really is quite bad….it teleports me into AoE’s constantly, deeper into zergs, etc…. So, as a mesmer, I’d love to have a downed skill that is actually fairly useful besides just spamming 1 for confusion.
That said, the ele thing is purely annoying…but that’s it. Should they not be able to go into portals? Sure…my teleport will teleport me against the portal, but I won’t go it. So it might be that you already can’t go in downed, but mist form changes you so that you aren’t ‘downed’ anymore. So it seems more like a bug than anything else, where the mist form takes them out of the downed state (do you still have it on your buff bar?) so that lets them in.
Nothing is more gratifying than knocking over half a raid off the cliffs at hills it was a great attempt by them, I think they under estimated us…we had like 10 mesmers standing around!
Really really great fighting so far this match up!
It actually looks like a thief…but anyways, there is a way for thieves to shadow step and mesmers to blink up onto stuff like that which isn’t an exploit. The blinking onto the tops of keep walls is different. In the case you see in the picture, it looks like he probably shadowstepped up there. Just AoE or pull him down.
I don’t see why people still whine about it. And don’t give excuses for culling, the whole “20 invisible players __”. Culling works both ways, and portalling gives the enemy a big bright pink sign where to AoE. Just throw all your AoE’s on it, and the portal fails. That easy. You don’t need to coordinate, etc, just know “big pink glowy thing = lay AoE”.
It is one of the easiest things to counter. Enough said.
How is it a fail on ANet’s behalf? It is in WvW. Siege is in WvW, ergo, siege is in the JP. Do you not like it? Yeah, it gets in the way of jumping to farm free WvW rewards. But, if you want WvW benefits, you should be prepared to do WvW. Siege should stay there. If you really want to do the JP that badly instead of fighting to take keeps, or towers, or camps, than be prepared to fight other players. It is, after all, in a player versus player environment. ’Nuff said.
There are too many posts of people whining wishing they could farm WvW rewards without doing WvW and how its not fair to have WvW in a JP, even though it gives WvW rewards, and it’s just silly. It is in WvW. Do I like it when people camp it? No. But when they do, I leave the puzzle and go help my server, not wipe 20 times then write a forum post declaring JP’s in a WvW environment, which give WvW benefits, should be void of all WvW.
There is a simple solution. If they get rid of siege, and make it a PvE environment, it should only give PvE rewards like all the other puzzles. That means, no badges, no siege. Just greens and blues and maybe a rare. PvE rewards for a PvE environment. And if that was the case, would you still try to farm the JP?
If someone is doing it constantly, and you are no where NEAR the gate, then it isn’t the class. It’s someone exploiting. And they could do it with any class.
My guess is you were standing near enough to a door or something in LoS from the outside that you were getting hit by our iBerserker spawning on the other side of the door and latching onto you, and seeing the animation of our spatial surge, and just didn’t know enough at the time about mesmers.
The iBerserker does its attack by spinning while going in a straight line. So you might think it is attacking you, but hitting something else in that line which is in LoS of the mesmer. For clarification, it’d be good if it was known if these were mesmer clones or phantasms. Clones will look exactly like the mesmer, and the phantasms look a bit like ghosts in that they are transparent. You shouldn’t see any clones on the other side of a keep, but you could see a phantasm(iBerserker)
True Rezzet, but on the other hands, to get on top, those servers had to have many transfers. Not only to get ontop, but to stay on top. For instance, my server went from T3→T2. We need A LOT more coverage, so we’re trying to get entire guilds to transfer to our server. It is needed for us to compete at T2. However, the top server in T2 (BG) is also recruiting, so we have to recruit more! With your system, what happens if a T1 guild jumps down to T4 or lower for easier fights and takes 100 WvW people with them? If that server stays in the same tier, they can’t make up the numbers with your system.
Those servers are, in a way, already limited because they will be on ‘full’ status for a long time, and it will be hard to get large guilds.
If anything, I’ve seen more guilds hop from large population servers to smaller ones to go from one of several to being the big fish in a smaller tank.
Limiting transfers by tier won’t solve anything. The limit to once a week then limiting their play that week has done enough
I’d rather them waste their siege being built in JP’s than anywhere actually effective. Just saying….if they have siege in the jumping puzzle, go laugh and take one of their towers or keeps where that siege woulda been. You might actually get some badges in the process!
