The increase in ability stat points is minimal (as far as I have seen item codes dug up from reddit data miners), the increase in armour is 5%, which combined with the same “creep” in ascended weapons makes a difference and can not be called cosmetic only over players with exotic items.

It does make a difference, but in the end, at least in places like WvW, I doubt it’ll be a noticable difference. There is a NOTICABLE difference between players in rares and exotics. A 5% armor increase overall really isn’t worth it (especially since the current meta is all about conditions!!! In WvW and PVE!!!). So you probably won’t even see many people running full ascended purely because of the cost. It’s not just a cosmetic, there is a slight stat increase, but it won’t make anyone noticabley “better” than other players, except in fractals where the extra agony will help.

However, this is a good add for the kind of players that just constantly want to grind mining ores, trees, etc.. (or grinding money) constantly to get the new “better” shiny. However, even for them..since the cosmetics are mostly meh..and the stats aren’t that much better, they aren’t really “shinies”…so unless people just ping the armor in maps constantly, no one will even know they have it!

Hopefully, but if I remember right you had to get certain “patterns” which may not be available this year, given that for Halloween they repeated the same content without returning most of the same rewards.

If it’s like Halloween (and it appears to be): same stuff, with absolutely none of the returning awards (i.e. for halloween you couldn’t redo that meta and get the rewards). The end meta result is one of the mini’s from LAST year (at least you get to pick and its not RNG?)

At least if its the exact same content, which it appears to be, they have fewer excuses for a buggy release?

If ascended armor is even half as expensive as ascended weapons, I have a feeling many people just won’t care as much. They really give you fairly minimal stat increases for the price, so unless you play fractals and need the very high AR, if it costs 100g+ to make each piece its not worth it. Add on top of that the price it takes to GET to 500 on all the new skills since t6 mats will only go up in price. They keep increasing the demand and NEED for t6 mats, but without increasing the drop rate. It’s only reasonable to assume that this means that once again t6 mats will cost 50s+ ea.

In the end..it’s just not worth it imo. It’s only like 1/3rd of a tier higher, but for 5-10x the cost. A set of exotic gear costs around 10-15g, even less if you use badges or karma. Exotic gear gave a LARGE stat increase over rares (and a full rare set might cost 1-2g depending on the gear). However, full ascended will probably cost >200g, but only a stat increase of maybe 10% (based off of weapons and trinkets)

So, I hope they either do one of 2 things: make ascended gear chests drop more often, or make t6 and ascended mats more abundant, ESPECIALLY for those who do stuff like WvW. I got a sunless staff, and I use it, but I notice absolutely NO difference in my gameplay. For a mesmer for weapons, since I swap around, I’d need at least 2 more, but most likely 3-4 more ascended to get “fully” ascended. Many people play with more than 1 gear set (unless you just do zerker PvE..but recent updates has shown that anet is trying to force players to be a bit more flexible), so you’re looking at at least 6, but most likely 12 armor pieces. So, unless they DRASTICALLY change the drop rate or the stats, they just won’t be worth it for most players. Just a niche item for the people that really like to just grind mats all day (I personally prefer to be in WvW killing players)

The only issue I see with being guaranteed Ascended mats, AND Ecto’s, is, as people said, some have entire bank tabs full of them. When running higher level fractals, ascended rings aren’t exactly very rare to come by (hence the problem of having too many!) So if they all gave 1-3 ecto guaranteed, plus guaranteed Ascended Mats, it would:
1) Make the people who already don’t play fractals feel even more worthless in getting ascended gear (not as big of a deal some would say).
2) People would start to complain about having too MANY ascended mats like bloodstone bricks and not being able to sell them
3) The ecto market would plummet so fast

Unless they make fractal rings sellable, or ALL of the ascended mats sellable, making them salvageable would just make fractals an even greater money farm (from ectos, or any sellable ascended mats), or make ascended mats being so cheap people start complaining about how easy they are to get.

The best solution then I feel isn’t to make them salvageable, but forge-able. For instance, putting 4 into the forge to get one back that you get select the stats, or putting some in with combination of other ascended/fractal drops to get different new stuff (maybe recipe to get the new tonic, and make that sellable?)

Even before I went in, I thought “they’ll probably figure out some way to involve Scarlet Briar in this.” Sure enough, there she was.

As a fractal, it’s interesting to navigate. Storywise, it was completely uninspired. Exploring Abbadon’s backstory would have been infinitely more interesting than this.

Since you don’t know what the Abbadon fractal they would have implemented would have been (i.e. the exact story and fractal mechanics) this seems like a completely silly thing to say. The story could’ve been just as wacked…I mean, it is the same writers. It’s not like they would have went “Oh the Abaddon one won?! Hire the modern Mark Twain’s and write the most amazing story ever known to mankind!”

That being said, I LOVED the boss fight. It really is finally a boss that has a real environment mechanic that is challenging, and quite fun! The actual fighting was really nice, though I was sad when I got the inquest look at was the boring plain one

This isn’t true on all servers. For instance, TC tends to see a surge mid-week. It seems that on TC, people tend to be busy with RL stuff on weekend and get to playing on the weekend. So, saying only the first 48 hours matters just isn’t right. For instance, take TC’s last match where in the first 48 hours things were very close between TC and SoR. It was only in the later part of the week where TC’s lead got substantial enough.

Ive seen this many times, though of course not EVERY time. When there is a total blow out, yes, the first 48 hours basically decide the match. However, when the match is actually close, the winner might not be determined (or the 2nd/3rd place team) until really the very end. Doing faster matches won’t give any less blow out matches, just make them shorter. But it also makes any decent matches shorter too.

Tl;dr: Making only weekends matter won’t really change much, but make the players who really get on and push hard during the week feel like they don’t matter as much.

What’d be really sweet would be TC to win this week (starting to look like a lock) and then SoS and Mag 2v1 them to push them to 3rd to allow TC and SoR to still tie, while we get to say we beat the server that beat SoR.

I’m sure I’ll get my license as a certified catherder before we can keep SoS and Mag from going after each other, however.

TC is already anticipating getting 2v1’ed. However, whenever we face lower ranked servers, we get a huge population boost from fair weathers. If SoS and Mag team up, I doubt they could knock TC all the way to 3rd, but they could knock TC down to 2nd. Lots of us are looking forward to next week, it should be lots of good fighting. We fully expect to get pushed constantly!

Fuzzion, contact me so I can set up in advance an SEA parade for the next time JQ and TC meet (in season 2)…or anyone in SEA that wants me to hold one then. The problem is I’m just not sure when are the good times, etc… With some help, we can definitely get one set up for the next time we face each other!

To all the TC who feel it’s appropriate to kick SoR when we’re down:
A) Weren’t TC folk supposed to be nice? o_O
B) If we do crumble, who exactly do you think will take our place? SoS? Mags? I sure hope you don’t this turn attitude you’re showing onto yourselves if/when you get stuck with BG/JQ repeatedly in the future and play third wheel.
SoR falling apart is bad for more than our just our server. The more logical people on BG and JQ have also stated as much. If SoR were struggling due to guild migration, this might be remedied, but we’re suffering attrition. People are reducing their gameplay. No one is going to gobble up our power and rise to T1; things will get destabilized.

We’re not mean, we’re driven. When we see a goal, we really go for it! It got us out of T4, and out of T3. I don’t think TC really “wants” to be in T1..but since there are no “tiers” anymore. But, if we can see a chance to get placed and get a cool finisher (MAYBE ITS A NEW DOLYAK ONE!), we’ll definitely go for it!

So, since there are no more tiers, there are no more weeks of fixed matches between the same 3 servers. Therefore, there’s no difference between T1 and T2..it’s all Gold league.

There was a dev that ran on TC, win or lose..whether we’re getting stomped or not, I’ve seen him on. So, just because you see some devs running in BG/SoR/JQ doesn’t mean they all are

- get rid of world story kitten in wvw. we don’t need toxic npc running around north camp
- deny transfers while the season is going on
- make the matches last 3-4 days instead of a week.
- make queues dynamic. smallest server population decides how many people can get into one bl. that would make anet rich and the server would balance themselves

The dynamic queues is interesting..but how would it work? Would it be like: the queue is set so the total map limit is set by the team with the smallest people there? It might be hard to implement, especially in the transition zones. Or imagine a large force (~60) on one map that leaves at once..would it kick people out? I think it’d be really cool if the maps were a bit more dynamic though with population in somehow (using queue, or not) (i.e. capturing a wooden keep that has only been capped for 20 minutes is worth less than capping a full T3 keep)

Im actually not sure what server time is (I’m still not used to this rediculous daylight savings time). A fast way to tell is log on, turn on the server time on your mini map in options, and just compare (that’s what I normally do)

As for an SEA parade, I won’t be able to this week. I’d hold it on friday morning (like the one time I did it), so that way it’s still at the end of the match. However, I have to travel this Friday, so I can’t do that I’ve been wanting to do hold an SEA one for those folks, its just so early my time!

Tarnished Coast Dolyak Parade
It’s that time again! A time for dolyaks and RPers and WvWers alike to gather together at the end of a long week, and just have fun! No pressure, no keeps, no towers, just good ol’ fashion relaxation!

For those who do not know, the Dolyak parade is a time where we get together and just have fun, and of course, parade around as dolyaks around the borderlands! Of course, you do not have to be a dolyak if you do not wish to be. In the past, everything from griffons to snowmen to elementals have flocked to our parade. So come out and celebrate the dolyaks, who sacrifice much for our endless war!

• Where: WvW borderlands. The exact one will be chosen ~1 hr beforehand
• When: Thursday (11/21) at 7 PM Server Time
• Who: Anyone is willing to participate! If you come and need a tonic, just ask a friendly DOLY representative and we can give you some to join in!
• How: If you choose to become a dolyak, there are 2 ways: a Ruminant Tonic, and a Dolyak Tincture (feel free to wiki these). Of course any other kind of tonic is welcome, or even none at all if you just want to run along!

If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns, or good dolyak jokes, feel free to send me a message!

PS: Any guild leaders/commanders that are going to have GvG’s on that day and around that time, let me know! I try to plan the parade around GvG’s as best as possible, to avoid meeting up at the same place, or the parade running through a GvG on accident. (I won’t divulge when/where the GvGs are to anyone else, I just want to try to make sure there are no cross-event mishaps!)

It is bugged, so the reason the price is still at 30g is because many still don’t know its tradeable. if you search for it, it won’t show up (and it doesn’t show up fronm the mini filter)

Do the same system and just make it cost a transmutation stone/crystal each time. Problem solved. Everyone happy. They get their money from the stones and crystals, we get permanent skins. The new system with the Zenith etc. skins is awesome, the ‘old’ system is terrible for game that’s all about looks.

Should’ve just adopted the DCUO wardrobe system.

Or the lotro costume system which was completely fantastic! And they made money by allowing people to buy more costume slots for them to swap around. It allowed you to have your set of armor, and then around 3 different “outfits” you could change to.

It could be too they’ll patch it later to make them tradeable to stop the sell of them within the first few hours for like 200g+…It’d be cool if they were tradeable..but it’s not that huge of a thing in the grand scheme of things. They could always patch it later, so people should just keep trying. But if you don’t try at all, and wait for anet to make it tradeable, then there’s a good chance you won’t get it at all.

The krait have battle animations for just about every situation though (except getting downed, but you can just make the player revert to normal form upon getting downed); I agree that it does seem like an oversight.

While they might have animations for basic battle stuff, things like mesmers, ele’s and other casters might be an issue since they have a lot of different animations. Plus they’d have to make sure the tonic’ed creature didn’t clip with any weapons, etc… It woulda been AMAZING if it was a combat tonic, but I can at least understand why it isn’t. At least this one isn’t limited to 5 minutes of tonic and 30 minutes of Cooldown…

It’s not where the other infinite tonic’s are from past Living story, but I believe the other base tonics are under consumables? I haven’t checking really, though I did find it odd.

Why? Well, the way it works is you develop this whole new system of handling meta skins. (Wait for it..). Then you advertise it, give everyone a bunch of AP chests to show off how well it works with Zenith/Radiant/Hellfire items. THEN……you never touch it again and go back to the old system. Seems like a good idea right?

I still don’t really understand the problem. I hate RNG as much as the next guy (over 200 rank chests and still no ascended!, never gotten an exotic worth more than ~1.5g, you get it….), but there isn’t a problem. There is ONE mini you AUTOMATICALLY get by doing the meta. Then there is another than is RNG. However, this isn’t different than any other update where they have done this, whether it was rare skin drops, mini’s, etc. They didn’t make Sunless items tradeable, they won’t make a mini tradable, when they’re already giving one automatically. The only reason that I see that it’s a problem now is the hybrid mini looks kitten. But, they’re still giving you one mini for free. If they allowed it all to be given out the first day, then there’d be even more people complaining how they got all the stuff day 1 and now there’s nothing to do and the update sucks, and how anet sucks, and how they need more content (from past LS updates). This at least is their (semi-bad) way of keeping people playing the content.

Also, for those who don’t know: the mini hybrid is as bad as an asura. I’m a medium build asura, and its very tips are at the height of my asura’s fro. Are they eventually going to make a mini that is bigger than asura? LOL

So this ONLY drops from the tri-key chest? It has no chance at all to drop from… the monster that it resembles. Would be nice to be able to kill the hybrid mob over and over hoping for a chance rather than farm those key pieces. Key farming is god awful. Just the absolute worst.

My guess is that this was stopped to avoid people farming a fairly fast instance, which has been abused in past updates. For instance, the first halloween update they made it so some rare skins could drop from a chest in an event dungeon, and people just farmed it really fast continuously. I see this more as a counter such farming.

Like I’ve said, people are claiming it NEVER drops, but we’re only at day 1 out of at least 2 weeks. People got used to, in the past few updates, being able to quickly farm hundreds of gold in the event and then just buy anything from the event from people. You can’t do that in this LS, and its more to how it was in the beginning of the game (if my memory serves me well). So, everyone needs to just FINALLY be patient about getting mini’s or cosmetics.

My guess is with the krait form it was just impossible to allow people to use weapons (because of animations, etc). The clockwork knight had a totally humanoid form, so they could just reuse the animations. As a krait, with no legs, a different animation for moving, etc they most likely would’ve had to redo it all.

My group had a similar bug: the portal in this one let only me into the room, but the other 2 couldn’t get in until I killed the mobs.

9 keys and still no mini…

How have you gotten so many keys? I’m finding it incredibly hard to get keys. Rarest drop I’ve ever had to deal with.

You can be guaranteed one per day at least by trading in spores which are plentiful in the tower. The mini is an “exotic” drop so people just need to you know…give it more than 1 day before they start claiming it’s impossible to get just because they haven’t gotten it in a few loots. (If only you could get everything in this game within a few loots!)

The only issue I’ve had with it is when I avoid one, and someone triggers one in front that happens to go off right as I get in that area with mobs around. I’ve only had this issue in one hallway that has a bunch of these mines with several adds that also spawn AoE’s, so if theres a lot of people you just cant see the AoE circles easily.

It’s the FIRST day people, COMON. It could be at 10%, or 5%… (heck even at 25% you might not get it after 10 keys…)

Before claiming it should be tradable so you can buy it for 100-200g+ within the first 12 hours, give it a few days. I’ve known several in game (including myself) that have gotten one already, so they don’t seem to be that rare. Instead of asking anet to once again let people throw massive amounts of golds to get stuff within under 24 hours, just be patient.

You’re basically saying “If you can’t get it in a few keys, it should be tradeable.” You have what…2 weeks? Just keep at it. You can’t just throw gold at everything

If the mini would be sellable “at a manageable price” like others have in the past, then they’re normally fairly common. If they’re actually rare, they tend to cost hundreds of gold. So, for once anet made a collectable you can’t just immediately buy, you gotta do the event and hope to get it. This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last, that they do this.

Many other living story updates have favored zerker builds (I’m looking at you Scarlet update!), the ones where people would just blob around a map spamming skills to get tags. I think this is the first living story update where they are encouraging people to have more bunker-y kind of builds. That being said, you can still run zerker, just run the new heal that removes it…or get in a group with someone with a water field and you’ll be just fine.

You ask if people really think of Maguuma like that? The answer is yes. Emphatically yes. Just about everyone I’ve talked to from other servers agree. The sad part is, I’m sure most of maguuma isn’t really that bad. However, you have several people who just utterly ruin your servers reputation by doing stuff LIKE THIS. If you don’t want people to hate on your servers, talk to the few people who make your server look so bad.

And yes, TC likes ppt It got us out of T4, out of T3, and almost into T2! We come to play WvW, not spvp. If we just wanted small groups doing death matches, we’d all play spvp

Exactly! And maybe that’s why I find it boring. If we ever get an arena with interesting terrain, and we’re allowed to use all of that terrain, it might be much more interesting!

On a side note: the daily Magumma killer should for us killing mag people or at least killing anyone in a magumma keep/camp/tower!

I don’t understand why people just want “open field even number fights in a controlled ready-set-go” fashion anyways. Idk…to me that’s just boring. I prefer to be outnumbered slightly in one way or another…or hit with a surprise attack. These things actually hold my attention. It’s why during reset I LOVED fighting my old guild mates, kh. They didn’t outnumber us, but they’d do surprise attacks, or you know…use TACTICS. Not: "Stand _ paces apart and face each other, then on “GO” slam into each other".

It’s all personal preference….and honestly all the guild bashing for people that don’t want to do GvGs (or those that do) is frankly getting old and pathetic. If you want to prove yourself as a WvW guild, do it doing WvW. If you want to do GvG, do it. But PLEASE acknowledge that not everyone wants to deal with it, or even finds it fun. GvG != WvW!! Stop putting it out to be. If a guild says they don’t wanna GvG, then don’t bug them, call them out, say they suck, etc. It’s definitely NOT going to want to make them GvG you anymore. This goes to all servers, and all guilds. If you keep asking people to GvG you, and no one wants to, there is probably one main reason: You’ve annoyed people and “they don’t wanna play with you”.

It is a bit playground-ish, but seeing this type of behavior constantly…well, it fits. This is a game. If people don’t want to play doing what you want, well…too bad for you. But just because you wanna play with people on the slide and everyone else is on the swings doesn’t mean guilds have to stomp their feet and call people out as “zergy”, “nooby”, “sucky”, etc…

This will be my last post on this matter as its just annoyed me to beyond caring anymore. I see the merits in GvG, and see why some find them fun, but I personally do NOT. Any further posts will likely be about the upcoming parade(s) (MAYBE AN SEA PARADE FOR Y’ALL!)

They can do it, but my experiences are that guilds that get “bought” will rarely stick around if things get rough and will instead find somewhere else. If you buy a server, you can basically count on them not really being loyal to your server and acknowledge that they are probably there only for as long as it suits them (or until someone offers them something better).

There is a difference too between helping pay transfer costs, to saying “We’ll pay your transfer PLUS _ gold to come here”

This needs to happen but a few changes first (mostly so they fix real issues finally instead of just cosmetic):
1) Make feedback work properly (sometimes it has some weird issues with placement where it doesn’t go to the right place). Also, it should only be available when an enemy is targeted, or make it so if you accidentally click it it doesn’t go somewhere totally wonky (just more for convenience lol)
2) Make mesmer focus reflects actually WORK, since feedback is the only reflect that at least reflects properly.

The colors would be nice not to differentiate between enemy and friendly, but in the middle of battle, the faint purple color can sometimes be hard to spot. Maybe it’d be nice to have a blue feedback for friendly, and like red or dark green enemy one

Badge gear/weapons haven’t been salvagable or forge-able in quite some time….I made that mistake with armor, and I only had to make it once.

That being said, if 20g took you months to get and that many badges to get:
1) always ALWAYS double check before you spend all your stuff at once. Plus, if you did the forge and only got 2-3g worth of weapons, what then?
2) I’d question what you’re doing in WvW….even achievement chests for PvE stuff give you A LOT. I make on average ~20+g a week minimum, and I’m a fairly casual player…

That being said, don’t quit. You made a mistake…many of us have made that some one before (a guildmate did a couple weeks ago)

I have no problem with it on any of my other alts Only benefit being mesmer gives me is I know very well how confusion works and its weaknesses. You’d be surprised how many people I STILL kill that spam autoattack through 10 confusion stacks and take away all their health.

PS. Im not defending the runes. I’m merely stating that instead of constantly QQ’ing and making excuses when you die to them you adapt. I too think the runes are over the top, I just change my play when I face someone using them. So, don’t make excuses when you die, just adapt and get better.

Move onto another build which the same number of people are going to whine/complain about. Theres ALWAYS one thing at least in WvW people complain about, build wise. Perp is the current QQ meta. Instead of adapting to the new builds, people would rather stomp their feet, QQ, call it OP and say “I only got wiped because that guy ran perp runes.” It happened with glamour builds, thieves perma-stealthing on walls, etc…

If you can’t deal with perp builds, don’t QQ. Adapt. Change your build. And you’re lucky since confusion is one of the most easily avoid conditions in the game. I don’t have an issue with them…. So, really, anyone that only QQ’s against perp builds are just making excuses for them not learning to adapt to them. They’ve been unchanged for what…3+ new patches? I didn’t see anything about them being changed in the december balance post…so just adapt. The runes are probably here to stay.

It’s most likely not going out of your way to set up a gvg. You raid during the week, correct? Grab 15 of those people and do a gvg at the start of it.

Sadly, I personally don’t like GvG’s. They take very long time for such short fights. I’d rather have open field fights with even numbers and do 10-20 of those in an hour rather than just a few. And I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. GvG’s aren’t for everyone, not because they might not have the skill, but don’t find them very entertaining.

Anyways, I personally sometimes swap to moa when doing large field fights. I find Moa’ing commanders to be really really funny. Some of them still do stuff normally (and its hilarious to see a raid stack up on a moa)…others start to run away from their group and end up getting targeted lol. So, if you get randomly moa’ed facing TC..it might be me just having some fun xD

It is NOT an exploit, it is however VERY cheap. Why is it not an exploit? Because you aren’t breaking LOS to rez. You can attack mesmers hiding there from both sides of that grate, so there is no exploit, no LOS issues, etc. It’s not the same as rezzing through a gate (which is an LOS exploit).

Since it’s not an exploit, nothing will be done. Just sit there and camp. If you see a mesmer going there to die, pull them away constantly. They basically need to be right up against it for it to work. It’s a very lame tactic to do, but people still do it..just park someone there. In fact, what works best is to place someone ABOVE on the watergate of bay, and when they see someone coming to rez, kill that person. That works MOST of the time.
