so you’re okay with 80 days to get 2 earrings?

remember that if you have more than 1 set of gear that is doubled. 2 sets or gear= 160 days. if you have an alt with 2 sets of gear that’s almost a year to get JUST the earrings assuming you play every single day.

that’s 320 days without missing a single day.

It’s not 80 days and Colin explained that earlier.
With guild missions you get the earrings very easy, that one is the longer route for people who don’t want to partecipate guild missions.
You can’t ignore facts and make an arguments out of it.

And even if it was 80 days for everyone then what? As long as everyone is getting items at the same rate it’s not a problem.
No one said all games should be about instant gearing.

You guys yet haven’t understood that Anet is purposely releasing new gear piece-by-piece and with time-based limits because they don’t want people to get it all at once?

It’s how GW2 works.
This month you get the new ring, the next you get the new sword, etc.
If you can’t stand that you can’t just grind the hell out of the game to unhealthy levels to get everything asap and then quit, either consider a change of mentality or change game.

Will or voices be heard will anything change?

Grind’s inevitable in every game. The only thing that’s not inevitable is the amount of grind.

That’s not true.
Grind is only there in GW2 if you want it. I never grinded for anything I own, got 4 char to 80 full ascended/exotic.
It’s just that some people want things in less time they are supposed to, and therefore grind stuff for getting it earlier.
A self-inflicted punishment can’t really be blamed on anyone but the one doing it.

Omnomberry pie: long overdue change

Even though I used this to extreme extents (a Warrior getting from 2k health to full ftw) I think the change is quite fine.
They didn’t overnerf at all, Omnom Pies still heal a ton more than any other food around.
If you play half-decently you’re still getting 325hp/s which is pretty good.

Heal on crit food was nerfed into the ground today, so you need to build with out it.

Actually omnom pies still provide by far the highest healing per second of any other food.
It’s not as OP as before, but still the best by a large margin.

Forced to play with a Greatsword

HannaDeFreitas.4236

I’m not sure why most Guardians care so much about their DPS.
Even on the glassest build you’re dealing half the DPS of a Warrior and probably less than other classes as well; if we had a DPS meter you would realize that your DPS doesn’t really matter compared to what others deal.

A Guardian is so much better for the team as a protector, and shield offers extremely good skills for that.
SoJ offers protection and SoA offers projectile immunity, knockback, healing.
I run a build with boon duration runes and my team has near-permanent protection plus 12 stacks of might from staff and X stacks from VoJ – let alone all the healing.
They deal bazillions of DPS and dont die.
If I used GS I would lose a lot of protection uptime, knockback and heal, which means my team’s overall survivability would decrease significantly.

For soloing you go GS but you’re gimping your team by not taking a shield in teams, let alone staff.
When I get Guards in my team that are full zerk and do little to protect the team just to deal some ridiculous DPS it annoys me and I must ditch them.
If you wanted to be a good DPSer you should have rolled a Warrior, there is no point at all in wasting all the Guardian potential like that.

Food Healing Nerfed?

Lol @ Mango pies.

It’s better than not eating food at all and is almost as cheap.

[EDIT] Now that I think about it, how effective are they by comparison now? It’s 340HP per second on a 66% chance on a critical hit. If you can’t hit something or you do not crit and/or the effect simply does not proc, you get 0HP.

Mango pie on the other hand will heal you no matter what every second for the same amount (not affected by healing power or -heal) every time (88HP). Combined with regen, it simply improves it (With some sigil stacks, I can get my regens to heal for 220ish HP so pie just makes it 300HP per second). It’s almost like a Healing Mist for yourself.

A Warrior that isn’t critting every second has much heavier issues than healing self.

Even taking into account the 66% chance and assuming Warrior is only critting one single mob once every second, aka the worst situation, it’s 66%*325= 214.5hp/s.
That’s almost thrice the amount Mango heals.
If you trigger it every second it’s 325hp/s.
So the average healing of Omnomberry pie sits 269.75hp/s, 3 times more than Mango pies.
The only situation where Mango pie would be better is on a Warrior with total 25% crit chance (including fury, sigil, traits etc), and is only hitting a single mob, but I think that doesn’t even happen on full Soldier warriors, as they usually have at least 40-45% crit chance when considering sigils/traits/fury.

So again, lol @ Mango pie ^^

And Anet nerfs RTL? RTL isn’t filling a lifebar that I know.

My opinion on the bugfix/balance portion.

Very Good:
- Event scaling fix attempt.
- Drop rate fixes for big bosses.
- Daily change from blizzard fetch quests to good quests around Tyria

Good:
- Removed bug that had you not be able to pick up stuff while running, and bug that locks you into terrain.
- Fixed exploits with ports/thief vs walls/ranger pets on walls
- Necromancer fixes.

Bad:
- No agony protection for pets/minions making them useless in fractals (good bye Minion Masters).
- No fixes to Bolas/Bull/Rush

Very Bad:
- The most OP build in the game made even more OP in WvW and only semi-fixed in sPvP.
Don’t even need to mention it, every single person reading this post will know exactly what build I’m referring to, only HS thieves in september were this OP.

Unsure:
- Stealth change could possibly lead to people abusing it to keep a Boss from recovering while team is wiped and have a Thief rez the team while in stealth.

I agree with confusion trait being quite inefficient.

Btw just in case you guys didn’t know, dodging during WA will not interrupt the skill.
This means with one single skill you can:
- deal 10k dmg on 360 degrees
- while healing 3k per mob
- while evading stuff
- while getting bazilions of adrenaline
- while triggering whatever proc on crit/hit you might have (bleed, vuln, etc)
- while being able to move around.
Unless one is awfully biased, it’s pretty obvious to see how effective it is, especially when combined with a mainhand that offers high DPS and another 360 degrees attack.

Tankyish full dps build

HannaDeFreitas.4236

Scholar runes are not reliable, the real E.Power should be around 5.7k in realistic situations.
I’d rather go with Divinity and get a guaranteed increase.

It’s not really tankish either, at least not by “good Warrior” standards.
30% DR should really be the standard in high-end content for any Warrior.
I doubt anyone is accepting pure zerk warriors that deal 3% more damage than a cavalier Warrior and sport 17% less damage reduction in any proper team for frac 40+.
Even if they don’t die they would have to avoid fire so much they would fall well behind the Cavalier in terms of damage.

Still good to see more and more Warriors are realizing the efficiency of new Cavalier stuff.
Props to you OP for posting a good build.

And it’s not that bad but it comes with the downside that you already know what to expect and it’s all linear.

I believe a mix of both is the way to go.
Chance for good loots but still tokens at the end.
Some things should remain RNG-only, other things should be “tokened”.

A crystalline sword isn’t as awesome when everyone is using it because they got it with “tokens”.

The problem with Burst skills is that all it takes is 20 Trait points to make saving your Adrenaline being the more attractive option. 9% Critical Hit Chance and a whooping 12% damage boost for being at full Adrenaline?

Yes please!

Not to mention Healing Surge: blowing your Adrenaline on a Burst is potentially dangerous because your healing becomes a lot weaker afterwards.

I think they issue is they didn’t manage to make it balanced for both PvE and WvW.
For instance is Evis hit for 20k it would be great, but in PvP it would be OP.

Anet really just needs to start doing a proper skill splitting.
You can’t have skills balanced for both PvE and PvP.

You can buy 50k influence with 100g. Even a very small guild of 10 people can gather 10g each (which is the income of one, single day of normal play) and buy 50k influence.
Just organize a day of guild fractals and you’ll get that money in 24 hours.

I have a more interesting story.
A few hours ago we were fighting the last boss in Colossus fract, my phone rang and I placed my char safely behind a rock then went to answer (it was like 2 seconds).
Turns out the whole team was wiped because they were jumping inside the boss in an attempt to bug him and get the “free” hammer; I got told that it’s disrespectful to players that I answered phone and didn’t help them to bug the boss.
I was not kicked just because I was the one doing the healing (without that they would have died terribly 2 fracts earlier), but there was an attempt.

Let alone leavers… I wish there was a penalty for leaving, in most games there is.

How to build a warrior for FotM 30+?

in Warrior

Posted by: HannaDeFreitas.4236

HannaDeFreitas.4236

I personally prefer banners when it comes to support.
First off they have 900 radius so they are a lot more likely to apply to all team unlike 600 radius shouts.
Second, regen is constant while shout burst heal loses a lot of its efficiency due to overhealing; every overhealed or out-of-radius shout is a major HP/s loss.
Third, Banner buffs also give the team a good DPS increase (90pow 90 pre 10% crit dmg) that stack with your FGJ/Empower allies.
Fourth, banner users are so rare that you never end up overwriting each other – and in case you do, you can talk with the other Warrior and one of the two can switch to shouts.

It’s also worth nothing that 30% DR / EP help a lot.

Enough GS zerker Warriors

in Warrior

Posted by: HannaDeFreitas.4236

HannaDeFreitas.4236

I still never seen a really cleaver DPS build for warriors… one that does not waste 300 stat points on condition damage coming from traits and then use a GS or axes (weapons that doesn’t apply damage conditions). Many people don’t realize they are just wasting 300 stat points right there. 300 stat points ITS A LOT of stats to throw to the garbage. That’s 300 points in which your character is weaker.

(a free T Shirt to the first that pops saying, 33% crit chance to apply bleed lol that doesn’t even start to compensate the amount of stat lost)

Warriors don’t take Arms for that but for the 10% increase damage and the GS trait that gives you might on crit (plus vuln/bleed on crit).

That being said though, what you ask for is perfectly doable.
You can make this build work without Arms while maintaining the same Effective Power.
Here is a 30 Defense version of this build.
Here is a 30 Tactics version.
(I have not put the major Traits in those lines so you can decide which ones to pick)
Both keep their Effective Power roughly on par with the 30 Arms one, though the damage reduction is slightly less in the case of Defense build and a lot less with a Tactics one.
You can workaround this by using a Knight armor instead of Berserker.

The reason this specific build uses 30 arms is that Cavalier trinkets drain your Precision so you need that tree to balance it up (along with getting all the bonus damage traits of course).

The only downside is the brandization on the mouse, which you can turn off in the mouse software.

Actually this is not true and is something we are actively looking at. We have a number of solutions that we are talking about and when we are able to figure out which one will have the least impact on balance, performance, and testing we will put that solution in place as soon as possible.

Jon

I’m very happy you guys are looking into it.

I suggest you make damage tick for the whole damage instead of 1 tick per condition per second, it would take a lot less server load.
I.E. 20 bleeds for 100 damage should tick 2000 damage not 20 times 100.
It would also make easier for us to know how much damage we’re dealing as well.
I’m pretty sure you guys will find a way, good luck.

Ascended Gear - please don't force gear grind

in Suggestions

Posted by: HannaDeFreitas.4236

HannaDeFreitas.4236

An Ascended char has about 8% more stat than an Exotic one, barely a noticiable difference in any content.
It’s like a char with divinity runes and one without, it’s no big deal.

Furthermore, there is no “grind” involved in doing fractals.
The system actually favors doing one a day compared to farming it, and doing something once every 24 hours definitely doesn’t count as grinding.

“I don’t like fractals” is not a valid excuse, either.
I could say I don’t like pink, and therefore I’m impaired because I don’t wear ascended items as they are pink.
But that would be my problem, not game’s problem.

More ways to obtain such gear will be added, but if you don’t like any of those ways you can’t really blame it on the game can you?
Can’t get the best of the game if you dont even want to play the game.

Rewards are on par with what you have done in the game.
If you have never stepped into WvW you don’t deserve world completion, if you have never did fractals you don’t deserve ascended, etc.
You can’t just cross arms and expect things to be handed to you the way you want and when you want.

“I want pinks but I don’t want to earn them” is not a valid complaint sorry.

Gap closers and conditions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: HannaDeFreitas.4236

HannaDeFreitas.4236

I stated my class. There is also a food that removes your condition when you use a heal skill. But that is not the point. Limitting leap/charge range upon cripple is wrong. The least the tooltip doesn’t tell you that. And it’s hillarious when you have cripple and chill at the same time, your leap range is less than your dodge, so you would rather dodge than using the gap closer. Tell me how this is right and how it makes sense

I can’t see your class stated anywhere but I’ll assume you’re a Warrior since you talk about leap/charge (or a melee ranger perhaps?).
Well, on Warrior it’s pretty easy to counter that; switch to sword/warhorn set, blow horn that removes cripple/chill and then leap at full speed.
That doesn’t change the fact that having a WHOLE secondary set just for removal of slowdowns is quite a design flaw.

According to Anet, Cripple/Chill are considered Control skills, and therefore Stability should prevent them as its whole point is negating all control effects.

Looking for a build

in Warrior

Posted by: HannaDeFreitas.4236

HannaDeFreitas.4236

You can get both big damage and high damage reduction by using Cavalier trinkets instead of Berserker ones.
With a build like this for instance you’re getting best of both worlds by sacrificing Precision, yet due to sigil/heigh focus/fury you’re still sitting on 80% crit chance.

Shout builds have pretty low damage compared to this and the poor heals don’t give as good survivability as 30% damage reduction provides.

Average damage for GS 100 blades

in Warrior

Posted by: HannaDeFreitas.4236

HannaDeFreitas.4236

Damage of HB depends on your build and gear first, and then on the buffs/debuffs.
Max-damage builds are usually 20-25-0-10-15 or 20-30-0-0-20 or 30-25-0-0-15.
Gear should be either full berserker (which I don’t recommend) or full berserker+cavalier trinkets (similar dmg, 17% more damage reduction for lasting power in 40+ fracts).

Then it all depends on the stacks of might on you and vulnerability on the mob.
You should get up to 25 on both before using HB if you want to see the big number; use SoR+FGJ+OMM and autoattack until mob has 25 stacks and you got 25 might then use HB.

On my Cavalier-zerk build HB hits for 43k when those conditions are met, else 20k on normal conditions.

I think I will try it, but if I don’t need SB for an encounter I will probably go with D/D and D/P or S/P since I think mainhand pistol is a bit lame outside of condition builds. Still haven’t heard much about fighting Dredge or bosses, where blind is either ignored completely or ignored mostly. However, I have no reason to doubt that this build has worked for the OP in higher level fractals, so I will still try it out with a few modifications.

Hmm actually P/P isn’t to use mainhand pistol but Unload spam.
On bosses I get some nice 8-9k unloads, it’s pretty good damage overall compared to shortbow.
