Actually, it matters A LOT. The Full HB is what makes GS better burst DPS than Axe. Even with full HB, it falls behind in overall DPS vs. Axe mainhand.
Yup.
The DPS of HB without the final hit is bit lower than that of Axe auto (1147 vs 1197), so unless HB is landing the final hit all the times then Axe auto is more DPS.
Without cooldown and without lock-in-place.
Then you have to consider Eviscerate 12k hits, which you can pull off quickly and then immediately max your adren with WA or Cyclone+Dual Strike.
And finally, you consider the 15k heal from WA every 20s, which is the second best heal in the game after Guardian’s Light of Deliverance which is on a 3 minute cooldown.
It’s basically GW1’s Cyclone+Vigorous spirit OPness all over again.
Here is a pretty funny story on the subject.
When I told my gf about the WvW requirement of map completion I expected she would be demoralized like you guys but she actually just said “ok we gather up some people and go blast off those players and I get all the points”.
And so we did lol.
She even asked why I asked her that in such a worried manner, but I did a ninja subject change because I didn’t want to admit some people here are scared of stepping into pvp.
I believe axe/shield+rifleis the best way to go. I use that in spvp, wvw (when pushing lines) and in some dungeons. GS is fine, but selfroot on hb needs to go, its not even a pvp problem, its affect pve as well.
I am really interested in this build. I’m getting tired of my GS as being locked in place is required for a succesful HB. In higher level fractals (30+) it’s too hard to execute this succesfully without taking too much damage. The lifesteal is really interesting, I never played with it before.
Yeah HB is pretty hard to land in high-end content as mobs will either deal too much damage during the channel or move away from the radius so you can rarely land it fully.
Plus HB only deals more damage than Axe auto if you land the last hit.
On my char with 8 might HB deals 12k+4k final hit, Axe 6×2k… with 20+ might (which can be had on axe if you get sigil of strength) Axe deals 18k per full auto and HB 16k+6k final hit.
So ultimately it’s all down to landing that final hit that requires a mob to stand still 3.5s, which is hardly happening often.
This is why I prefer Axe, it deals overall more DPS because you’re -always- hitting stuff and 2 skills out of 5 hit in a 360 radius which means I also hit mobs behind me that I wouldn’t otherwise hit.
Plus the OP healing
It’s basically the GW2 version of this
(edited by HannaDeFreitas.4236)
This game isn’t in trouble and you don’t know how many people have stayed or left. My guild, at least, has grown. Saying something is true doesn’t make it true.
In fact, most of the OP is filled with opinion stated as fact, when in fact many who enjoy the game don’t agree with those opinions.
The game is doing fine. It will continue to grow as well. And naysayers like the OP will be eating crow for years to come.
This.
The only thing I can agree on in the OP is the condition damage issue in PvE groups, but others are merely your opinions which I disagree completely with.
I don’t think heroes would work.
NPCs can’t jump so they can’t do JPs of say Asura/Volcano fractals, can’t take the luminous thing to not die in underwater, etc.
this build has really pluck my interest….
OP, I would like to repeat some question others have asked but not answered and throw in some question of my own for other players who are also interested in this build.
1. Can this build work as effective as in WvW as PvE?
2. What kind of utility skills do you use?
3. Does this build only works if you are able to obtain the Cavalier type trinket?
4. Could you post a video with you in action? After all a picture speaks a thousand words, with a video all doubts will be answered
1. Axes provide no mobility which is fundamental in WvW but definitely work as a secondary set.
2. FGJ-BS-EP as standard, swapping the middle one according to situation.
3. Yes, you’re still getting everything equally, except the 30% damage reduction.
4. What would you like to see exactly? I’m not very good with video-making.
PS: This is falcon btw, logged on my gf account
I’ve recently been using this build for Fractal 30-36 with major success.
Hopefully this helps Thieves out there get better so we get rid of the bad “no thieves” discrimination on gw2lfg.
Relevant stats
2300 Power
50% crit chance 244% crit dmg
16,000 health
2,500 armor
Food is plate of truffle steak & master maintenance oil.
The idea is to get high survivability without sacrificing damage; high armor gives 26% dmg reduction (twice as much as standard zerk/valk), 16k health to avoid oneshots and survive.
All this while sitting on 2300 power, 244% crit dmg for those huge numbers.
Main skills
- Smoke Screen: Use this to protect team from shooters but mostly just place it on top of mobs and then Heartseeker through it for stealth and thus AoE blind.
- Shadow Refuge: Mostly use this for stealthrezzing, but also causes AoE blind if you’re stealthed from it.
- Signet of Shadows: Another AoE blind plus runspeed when it’s not in use.
- Hide in Shadows: This provides both healing and guess what? Yet another AoE blind.
Usage
Every time you stealth you cause AoE blinds so the idea is blinding all mobs constantly through Smoke Screen + HS, Black Powder, Signet of Shadows and Hide in Shadows while also continuously dealing DPS.
Once you get into the rythm of AoE blinding+DPS it all flows pretty smoothly.
Swith secondary weapons to SB when AoE situations are present, use poison+cluster correctly for AoE weakness.
Remember Thieves aren’t only full DPS chars we bring a ton more support than most classes through our blinding/stealthrez/wall tools.
DPS should be just the cherry on top of all this.
Have fun!
What you describe is probably what is going to happen.
Anet already has a window for sPvP games that would work for LFG tools.
Any fix for the exploits of Mossman (people going below bridge and hitting him while he does nothing), last boss of colossus (people going inside his model to make him drop hammers), and the Jade Maw tentacle kill from rocks to skip the windrider part…?
Guild titles and privileges are not something to play with without thinking, as they include guild leadership privileges too.
Leadership hasn’t been “taken away” from you, you removed it yourself because you did a mistake when changing privileges.
I realize you are upset but you need to file a ticket to ANet and see if they can reverse your mistake.
Thread will prolly be locked soon, there was no reason to make it as it is your mistake not a problem of the game to it must be solved through support tickets.
CoF armor has been cliche for a looooong time now. I think the running stereotype is a Charr sigil warrior using a greatsword in full zerker CoF armor.
And healing shouts. It’s GW2’s Wammo basically lol.
Still those people have a point, CoF is the easiest to farm, always a lot of people LFG for it, and it has zerker stats.
Actually, I run a damaged focused boon warrior and I run without FGJ as I solo/ roam more. I almost have 100% uptime on signet of rage, therefore the additional fury is wasted. A utility slot is not worth 3 might in my build. Generally I fill my utility slots with balanced stance, signet of stamina and either endure pain or frenzy.
FGJ is more of a team-boosting tool than a self thing.
With Axes we easily get permafury even without boon duration due to SoR+Dual Strike, but giving Fury to your team equals to +400 precision +105 power to every person in your team.
It’s really is a major team buff.
I dislike how Tengus were redesigned in GW2, they were done much better in GW1.
They were all more polished, royal-looking and realistic.
Same goes with the “new” UW creatures like Aatxe etc, they used to be scary now they are semi-transparent and purplish.
Like your suggestions, even though they will never happen.
Anet thinks Warrior is set in stone, we’re already lucky if we get our bugged gap closers fixed…
sorry for quotting, but i really want to know what utilities suite this warrior more, so tell if possible
There isn’t a skillbar that works for everything, you need to switch utilities depending on the situation.
Will there be CC? Slot Balanced stance/Dolyak.
Will there be conditions? Slot SIO/Signet of Stamina.
Will we need more DPS? Slot Banner of Strength/OMM.
Other than those swaps though, FGJ and EP are almost always on my bar.
I suggest a 20/30/0/0/20 build with zerker gear and cavalier trinkets, Last Chance+Sigil of Rage for quickness stacking.
You get megadamage and high survivability all in one go.
PVT gear is useless when you can get the same with Cavalier without giving up all your damage.
I don’t even know a single person who does dungeons because they like them, they do the for whatever reasons they have to do them.
I do dungeons because I like them, same for my bf.
You now know two of those weird people who play for fun! Hope you find more of these in your journeys.
What level Fractals have you achieved?
30++ on 2 chars so far (War and Thief).
My Guardian is still sitting on low fracts I think 18 or so.
How do you make up for the loss of GS #3 and #5 as I find those skills invaluable in Fractals.
I could ask you how do you make up for the loss of WA, Cyclone and Eviscerate? I find those skills invaluable in Fractals.
I can understand GS#3, it’s good as the only GS 360 skill and evade but I feel WA is much better ( +dmg +healing and 3.5s of tanking all damage) plus Cyclone is again major healing, 360 and vuln stacking.
If you pay attention to it most times in Fractals fights are 360 AoE and/or mobile therefore Axe will deal more DPS / heal more.
Examples:
- Dredge fract is almost entirely 360.
- Colossus fract, the fight vs 2 sigils you can hit 8 mobs with Axe, 2-3 with GS.
- Charr fract, all fights are 360 AoE plus mobs are mobile.
- Volcano initial fight is 360 and mobile.
- Mossman crazy tagging of wolves for rally plus healing up Mossman megadamages; you can’t just HB this boss he’s too mobile but you can Axe it.
- Asura fract vs 4 bots is 360, WA+Cyclone tear down all bots.
- Snowblind is 360 vs svanirs and elemental.
- Even the boss fractal has most mobs placed in ways you can only get them all with 360
Take away all the aforementioned situations, plus the others where you can’t stand still and HB all the time (either mobs are mobile or you take too much dmg to stand still), and you have a pretty good indicator of where GS is effective and where it is not.
Just swap weps/traits according to the situation ahead of you.
Would you say the lifesteal of the off-hand axe is better than the skills of a shield?
By miles.
Shield block won’t deal 10k dmg on a 360 degree like WA, nor heal you for 3k to 20k health.
WA basically fulfills the same purpose but also deals big damage/heals on top of it.
I’ve been told it’s possible. How do I do so with GS 100B?
Some mobs take a lot more damage in certain circumstances i.e. Dredge fractal boss, bunnies etc.
If they told you that you can normally hit 100k on normal mobs they lied to you and chances are that person is dying to Warriors and deeming them OP (aka he needs a major amount of L2P pills still).
Colin: There will be 5 types of guild missions built with influence. Bounty is one of them, available in different difficulties #foodwars
+1 if they’re not fetch quests like dailies.
Colin: Modifications to the commander book are coming, with more features. Will remain character bound #foodwars
+1.
Still won’t fix the issue that commander title requires zero WvW experience tho.
Colin: WvW updates will not introduce new skills. Will bring passive abilities aimed towards group play eg. Extra supply #foodwars
+1, great.
Colin: All the bosses in AC have been completely rebuilt for the February release. Some of the open world champions will be too
+1, but what about the “getting players back to Tyria” plan?
Colin: Orange swords in WvW won’t show if there are less than ~25 people after February’s update (unsure exact number) #foodwars
+1, very good.
Colin: There will be other legendaries in the future. Priority is resolving ways to get precursors, including the scavenger hunt 1/2
Colin: Possibility of new legendary types (ie not weapons) and combinations. #foodwars
Hopefully they will fix the whole legendary issue at some point…
I’m not expecting much out of February update, as it is really minor… My mind is on the March one.
Hello everyone.
Yes, we are aware of these connectivity issues and working already on them. It seems that it all originates in the European servers; we will keep you informed about it. If you cannot log at all to the game you can also check the following bigger thread in the Tech subforum.
Thanks for your patience.
That means I yelled at the poor support guy of my ISP for nothing :/
On top of that, gasp, they all are composed of units that fulfill well-defined unique roles
That’s actually a very terrible and completely wrong example.
I have been in the army 1 year, enough to know soldiers need to be able to fulfill many roles.
All units need to know basic healing/resurrection methods, know how to shoot and kill enemies, know maneuvers to avoid fire and covering, and using methods to control the enemy such as smoke/flash nades.
That’s the modern ways of tanking, control, healing and DPS, and all units need to do all 4 to survive.
As a Medic I’ve still got gun / tactical training regardless if I can be the “healer”.
Because knowing one role alone simply isn’t enough in warfare, nor in life or workplaces.
My warrior runs with knights armor and zerker weapons/jewels.
My ele runs a bleed build with carrion armor and rampager weapons/jewels
My guardian runs soldier armor and weapons with sapphire jewels.
I could go on. Certain encounters can be rushed through with a team of zerkers (CoF path 1 is the most prominent). But that does not make other options less viable.
Exactly.
Just because you can run CoF path 1 ezmode naked and semi-afk it doesn’t mean you can do the same in harder content.
For instance on my Warrior I have full zerker but cavalier jewelry, effectively sacrificing very little DPS but getting a major amount of damage reduction in return.
Just make sure it’s always a 50/50 trade, i.e. don’t trade 5000 health for 10 damage that’s a bad trade.
