I only use GW2 native screenshot system for emergencies as images come in very bad quality, Fraps does it in max quality.
But yeah I’ve never taken remotely as many shots in a video game.
Mouse movement is godsend (should wasd ever be forced it’d be instant uninstall for me)
F1-F5 wep skills
1-5 profession skills
X,C swap, dodge
Mouse button 1-5 utilities, elite, heal
Warrior for sure.
I sit on railways, train is about to hit me, Endure Pain, train-in-face deals 0 damage.
Then detarget, Rush, WA, Savage leap, Bull’s charge away like a boss.
Colin saying “the population is increasing” isn’t data.
Even if Anet posted server statistics you would say they are made up.
Because you want to believe in what you believe, regardless of all evidence pointing against your claims.
If I was Colin and saw your post I would file you a lawsuit for defamation and send to you to beg in the streets, but he hasn’t done so, so maybe he’s not as bad as you think.
ArenaNet needs to very quickly remedy the fact that this game has little to do at level cap (aside from grinding for cosmetic upgrades). They also should tweak the combat/classes to support the trinity system. Every class should be able to spec as healer, tank or dps simply by switching which weapon they are using.
That’s basically a guaranteed way to lose the majority of the playerbase.
Luckily you don’t work for Anet.

I would like to try this build, but I’m curious about your weapon choices on the buildcraft link. You didn’t really mention your weapon usage, so why choose D/D and P/P instead of going D/P and Shortbow? I just don’t see the use of mainhand pistol and it seems there’s plenty of stealth already so Cloak and Dagger could be sacrificed for more HS combos.
Also, since you rely heavily on blinds, how does the build fare against bosses who are less affected by blind?
D/D allows for DB as a finisher on Smoke Screen to spread more blind, plus CnD stealths which also causes AoE blind.
P/P allows for Black Powder AoE blind.
As for SB if you drop smoke screen and cluster bomb on it you will stealth so you get another AoE blind.
Weapons are not set in stone, what weapon you need depends on what encounter you’re about to face.
the dredge would like to laugh in your face ^^
Luckily Dredge is easy enough to not require blind
Choking gas+cluster finisher for AoE Weakness is the way to go there.
I miss the feel of going to certain areas to farm/find certain items.
Same.
I really really miss things like boss hunting or farming certain zones for a specific loot like we did in GW1.
Hopefully they will find a way to make earlier zones useful at lvl 80, I don’t believe 90% of Tyria should become immediately obsolete once you hit 80.
Same here (EU server).
I get a lot of sudden lag spikes that last like 1 second but they’re frequent enough to make the game nearly unplayable.
I’m pretty sure it’s not just me because others in the server report the same issue….
cut
“WA can heal up to 15k” which is what says in the OP is a correct statement.
Infact WA can heal not only up to 15k but up to 17k with proper stats.
Let me be straight with you:
When you came here with very rude manners “demanding” for calculations, I was kind enough to make them for you, and yet you kept creating arguments and contesting anything with an arrogant attitude which leads me to believe you just came here to wave some elitism.
And I’m not really interested in that, so you’ll have to continue your show on your own if you so wish.
Is there any MMO… or videogame for that matter, that ever managed to resolve all clipping issues of all its item combinations?
Honest question.
I played countless games and not a single one was clipping-free especially those with heaps of armors/weapons.
New ads on gw2lfg: “LF2M no console players”, lol.
I played GW2 with a controller and it played pretty much the same once you get into it (beside clunkier camera turning) so I think it’s pretty possible.
Sometimes it won’t heal enough for the person to rally, if the person’s downed health is too low.
I’m not sure this is intended or not, but in my opinion for such a long CD skill we should get a guaranteed res.
Idea.
Instead of applying an additional 25 stacks that would cause server load issue, we only apply one single additional condition that includes all the damage from conditions that were overwritten.
That condition would only tick once every 3s for all the extra damage so it wouldn’t create a lot of numbers.
You could also do like every other MMOs where conditions tick for all the damage of all conditions instead of a million of number spam.
I.E. if I apply 20 conditions for 100 damage each, the mob takes 2000 damage per tick.
Not sure why it was complicated this way…
You were boasting about 15k+ WA-healing which requires 5 targets and extreme stats.
I have yet to see anyone saying that their HB does 100k+ damage or shield blocks 50k+ damage. If your situation involves special conditions then you should provide necessary information.
Those informations were actually already provided as early as page one, where it was stated that healing depends on # of targets; you can’t complain a lack of information when it is there but you didn’t bother to read it.
It’s also worth nothing that your statement that this build requires “extreme stats” is false, as it requires mere exotics and food just like any other build out there.
People are giving 100b too much credit and too little credit to whirlwind.
Yeah….
Let’s just say not everyone can understand that a situational, positional big crits that rely on a stationary target is not the best form of DPS.
DPS is continuous damage that can be dealt in any situation, not the occasional lucky crit on mobs that happened to not move away from HB.

I think an Inquisitor should rather be a “punishing” version of Guardian, using boons similar to Smithing Prayers of GW1 that punish enemies for doing things.
Examples:
-. (Profession skill) Judge’s Gaze: Increase cast time of target skills by 33%.
- Wrath of Justice. The next person to attack allies is knocked down for 1s.
- Judge’s Insight. Allies attacked apply 3s of Weakness to the attacker.
- Strength of Honor. Allies under attack gain Fury and 3 stacks of might.
- Punish Condition. Remove a condition and apply confusion to who applied it.
- Castigation Signet. Deals X damage. Also knocks down target for 1s if he is attacking.
- Scourge Healing. Target takes X damage every time he’s healed.
- Scourge Boon. Target takes X damage every time a boon is applied to him.
Inquisitors should punish, not be puppet masters.
I think the trade to trade system is looked down upon by Anet mostly because of all the spam it generates – “selling 3 jute cloth!” No ty I don’t want to see that it was bad enough seeing all that the first month of this game due to the tp being dead.
I don’t think that’s the reason, because people would use the trade chat which can be ignored etc.
I think Anet just wants full control on the market.
Try a 80 warrior for a bit and you will immediately want to go back to thief. Thief is so potent and so much more survivability from simply going invis
I disagree on this.
I WvW’d a lot on my Thief and Warrior, which are my main classes.
Now that most people learned to play, Thieves have an hard time.
People now avoid the initial burst and channel stuff against you through stealth; when this happens you have no choice but escape or die.
Warrior on the other hand has a couple more failsafes before you really need to get out, and plenty more time to apply his burst, plus a chance for 1200 range kill.
The only strong build Thieves get is P/D for 1vs1 but outside that niche Warriors are much better imo.
This is WvW tho, sPvP is a completely different beast.
It’s sort of weird that SC has no people when it has the best loots of all areas.
Trading is very important and fundamental imo.
I also think most of us agree that lack of P2P trading is a big detractor to the game but it seems to be set in stone for some reasons.
If the TP was removed on top of no p2p trading it would be a pretty stagnant situation.
I find things like EP/FGJ/Bolas/Bull/BStance/Frenzy to be interesting… but other skills not so much.
They simply have too long cooldowns to be worth taking over shorter CD skills.
It’s not a coincidence that the large majority of players, of any class, do not use most long CD skills.
It’s a design flaw present across the board.
1hand sword is excellent if you use it for savage leap and immob+swap into HB.
But it’s not very good alone, it’s more of a secondary set weapon.
So far the setups I found useful PvP wise are:
GS+Rifle
GS+LB
GS+Axe/Wh(shield)
GS+Sword/Wh(shield)
GS+Hammer
Hammer+Sword/Wh(shield)
Other setups simply don’t offer enough mobility which is fundamental in WvW.
There is a fine line between hardcore players and OCD grind addicts, it’s wrong to assume they are the same people.
I got 1200 hours in, if you do the math is pretty much 7-8 hours/day but I’m not obsessed with the philosophy of “getting better stats through PvE so I don’t suck at PvP”, those are different people.
I’m actually very happy max gear is very easy to obtain and then it’s all about skins/fun.
The worst enemy of GW2 I think are players who want to out-gear others because they can’t out-skill them.
They want that grinding results in easy ownage of non-grinders, they want trinity so it frees them of responsibility in dungeons, they want no downscaling because they want to show “power” to mobs too, they want FFA in PvE zones so they can sit in Queensdale to kill lvl 5s, etc.
Luckily this kind of people tends to last very little in GW2, they realize skill>gear and there is no reward or feeling of omnipotence without good player skills, so they move to games where time equals power.
That’s how I see it.
Conditions work wonders in PvP and for PvE well… we’ll stick with 4 direct damage team members and one conditioner.
If it can’t be fixed without blowing up the servers I don’t think there is much we can do.
0% and I’m perfectly happy with my income.
I might not be farming 30g/day but I make 10g by just doing fun stuff and that’s ok.
I don’t need tons of gold, my gear is maxed and I’m not really obsessive with getting legendaries fast.
The playerbase has massively declined since Lost Shores – stop spreading false hope.
Or you could stop spreading wrong data.
Anet data has shown a major increase in the playerbase and concurrent players. And you trust anet?
The fact they launched new servers and extended the max population cap of the existing ones is a pretty good indicator there was a pop increase.
Give me a good reason of why should I ignore all that evidence, assume Anet numbers are lies and trust a random poster claiming the opposite with zero evidence to back it up.
(edited by HannaDeFreitas.4236)
It’s silly really out of the 4 lvl 80’s and 1 lvl 50-ish (Engi, Ele, Guardian, Ranger, Warrior) I find the Engi the most versatile and fun to use. I really have no idea why they are the least played if it is indeed true. Personally I would have thought necro would have been, after all who dosn’t like guns right!? O.O
From discussions in game I found most people who don’t play Engi either doesn’t like the ranged-only limit, doesn’t like kits or doesn’t like the playstyle of steampunkish gunner as they prefer more classic fantasy archetypes.
I believe Engi would have been liked a lot more as an Alchemist instead.
More emphasis on alchemical potions etc and less on guns.
Anet said they consider WvW as GW2’s world pvp.
World ganking (wrongly referred as world “pvp”) is not present in GW2 and will not be.
It’s just me or the fact the skill needs to be targeted on team members to give them the buff is flawed?
I mean most of the team is behind you (since you’re a meleer), so you have to turn around to apply the buff.
Plus if the team is spread you can’t hit most people with it.
In my opinion SoJ should work like a shout and affect allies in a radius rather than in a cone.
I get tons of yellows/lodestones/cores/exotics in Fractals.
In CoF1 most drops are blue/green tho, with the occasional core.
0% MF ofc.
Most people in my teams get similar loots.
You’re simply on the wrong side of RNG.
From my experience trininty games allow for a ton of carrying through content. Most encounters success or failure is dictated by the tanks/healers whilst dps just affects the speed at which the encounter is completed. I played healer/tank roles in WoW and Rift a fair bit and always found it annoying getting critcised by guys whose only job it was was to not stand in the fire and cycle their dps rotation.
Gw2’s system is far more revealing of an individual player’s skill . There are no tanks to hide behind or healers to save your kitten In nearly all cases blame stops at the player who went down. This makes it feel far more meritocratic for me, although for people used to only playing dps in trinity games it will be a bit trickier.
Very well said.
GW2 lets you spot the bad members easily while classic trinity is a lot more forgiving as a good tank/healer can carry bads around dungeons.
Yup it’s a known bug and we reported it in the sticky of bugs.
Give it more visibility so we get the fix hopefully.
I’m not making any justification to use it. I’m just pointing out the facts (which some here seem to bend in their favor).
Food definitely makes it useful but it isn’t as great as some people propose.
Because in the post above I was just told it heals as much as skill 6. How am (or anyone) I supposed to believe anything you guys say if you clearly favor your build?
For example HB never gets to finish but WA always hits 5 targets.
You call me on bias but I could call you out on the same since you only consider worst situations.
I guarantee you that I’m not, but let’s post some real situations then shall we?
In-game facts cannot be biased.
In all the following fights Axe/Axe hits all mobs and heals 10k+, while GS wouldn’t be able to land HB fully most of the times.
Dredge fractal encounters include a minimum of 5 mobs per pull and they move.
Ascalon fractal encounters all include 5+ mobs that need a 360 wep to be all hit.
Colossus fractal encounter on arms (the one that matters) include 7-8 mobs spread in a 360 degree.
Volcano grawl fight has dozens of grawls spread 360 and moving, during Imbued fight WA can kill 4 to 5 lava elementals in one go (while healing 10k+).
Asuran fractal boss #1 and #3 requires both mobile and 360° to hit every boss.
GS while outshine Axe/Axe in the following fights due to stationarism of mobs.
Comes to my mind:
Snowblind, where mobility is king and most stuff is stationary/not so mobile.
Asuran Tommy boss is immobile and GS easily outDPS axe.
Champ shaman is also locked in place allowing full HBs
It would be biased to claim A/A wouldn’t offer more efficient DPS and healing in the fights on the first list or that GS wouldn’t be better in the second list.
As you can see I look at things objectively, maybe you could do the same.
You obviously did not even read a single post in this thread.
I’m tired of these “you haven’t read the thread” one-line troll posts and I’m reporting you.
Of course I read it, and it’s not true that all Anet does is nerfing.
All patches contain buffs and nerfs, changes that are needed to keep the gameplay balanced.
Dungeons would be pretty limiting and gimmicky if it was all reduced to a tank and healer taking care of everything while the rest just deals DPS, and we would be still dependant on healer/tank roles to run dungeons instead of player skill.
We’ve been playing that simplistic system for two decades now.
I think we can have one, single game, and let me repeat it – one, single game – that allows you to play in a more realistic way where you actually deal with mobs, damage, aggro and healing constantly, instead of being pidgeon-holed into doing only one of those roles.
That’s not to say I don’t understand your feeling, but simply put this game was for people tired of that obsolete format.
There would be little reason for most of us to play PvE if it was dumbed down to that level.
Wow, what a cesspool. People really use this site to find groups? Seems only good for zerk warriors (whatever those are) or mes.
Best I saw was for AC, which is what, lvl 35? They wanted 80’s only, no noobs because they were leveling an alt.
And everyone has to link gears!!
I’m glad I have a guild I go with. I’ve never been in a dungeon that wasn’t a guild group and by looking at that site, I think I’m glad.
What a sad state if that is the only option someone who is guildless has.
Some people actually enjoy pugging and gw2lfg.
I do guild runs too but they’re really not as diverse; PuGs always make up the funniest stuff and find the weirdest bugs to exploit… plus you get to know new people and sometimes make new gaming friends.
I think you’re missing out on a lot of stuff if you avoid pugging at all and close yourself into a limited circle.
I dont know about you, but for a skill that does some dps and heals that much, it sounds pretty good. I think your making more of a justification to use it O.o.
And warriors cant heal ourselves like any other class except through normal heal/adrenal regen (which isn’t too great, but ok) and healing shouts, which need to spec 30 into tactics =\So for a class that can go dps and still get Regen from a skill, I don’t think its that bad, not to mention, WA isnt the only skill that can heal you while your on food.
Yup, plus the good of this skill is that it heals SO much that even if you have 2k health only (which would normally force you to range) it brings you back to a nicer 15-18k health so you can stand melee DPS again.
I don’t understand why most Warriors won’t change their weapons according to encounters.
I use at least 5 different weapons in my dungeons: GS+Rifle on single target stationary encounters, Axe/Axe+LB on AoE or mobile encounters, Hammer when CC is wipe-saver… really not sure why most Warriors just carry one wep all the times even in places where said wep performs worse than another.
For instance vs Old Tommy GS is much better than anything, but vs mobs in Ascalon fract where mobs are on all sides and move a lot Axe/Axe+LB is just crazy.
What is this? Totally uncalled for thread, there was no nerf in a month or more.
Anet never did nerfs that weren’t really needed (ok save some knee-jerk nerfs like Dancing Dagger and Brawn), but I agree that “those 3 classes” need a buff.
I so wish dailies were something like “complete 3 events in this map, 3 in that, 3 in that”, so we’d see people all over Tyria…
I agree that having 0/10 kill, 0/25 (jesus these feel grindy) kill aquatics etc are exactly like WoW quests, and I doubt anyone finds them “fun”.
All the game is about fun except dailies, no wonder you dont want to do them.
I find myself procastrinating them and then force myself to do them to not lose the laurel.
As one who got lvl 20 in pre-searing, congratulations.
To be fair though, the “tutorial” mission of GW2 is nothing like pre-searing.
Pre-searing had awesome-looking maps and more zones etc… shaemoor is just a little instance.
Yea i guess my post is too long and u probably didn’t read it fully but i have submitted support ticket, why else would i say support refused to help? And when people say its my fault, I think anet has to take at least partial responsibility for not putting some safety net in here before making such a dramatic changes. Nothing told me this change of title would alter my guild leader status.
Don’t assume I didn’t read etc, that’s trolling. I did read and it’s your fault.
It’s pretty common sense that giving leadership privileges to other people makes you lose leadership, be a man, take your own responsibilities and deal it with Anet.
The playerbase has massively declined since Lost Shores – stop spreading false hope.
Or you could stop spreading wrong data.
Anet data has shown a major increase in the playerbase and concurrent players.
Depends entirely on what traits you get.
Going 10 to get stats isn’t the best deal since 100 toughness is like 5% damage reduction…
Topic, do all fractals you did reset when server resets or I have to wait 24 hours between a frac 20 and the next frac 20?
If I’m moving with mouse the game won’t let me pick up items while moving, I’m forced to stop.
If I try to pickup while mouse-moving the char will be stuck in auto-running forward and the only way to stop him is hitting “S”.
This bug never existed before as I always picked up items while mouse moving with zero problems.
This is a big issue because the game failing to pick up a reflecting cristal can lead to your death etc.
I don’t think we should make a new thread for every newbie that writes something clueless on the message of gw2lfg.
Recent statistics posted on Anet’s FB have shown that the playerbase and concurrency of players is actually increasing.
Simply, like every other MMO out there early zones are less populated when the majority is lvl 80, and some servers have less population than others.
And do you happen to have 5 targets close every 20 seconds?
In the large majority of encounters on GW2 you’re fighting more than one target, even a lot more than 5.
Mathematically, even in the worst conditions (i.e. one target) WA heals like a #6 skill when you consider the cooldown, while dealing 10k to 50k dmg in an area – that easily makes it one of the best skills out there.
15k+ heal? So food heal triggers like 45 times. So you have to hit like 80-90 times. WA hits 15 times and capped at 5 targets.
It’s cool that you do math but what about not doing it wrong?
Here is the correct math.
The build has 80% crit chance so: 80% * 15 WA hits = 12 crits
66% chance on 12 crits = 8 procs
8*340* 1 target = 2720hp
8*340* 5 targets = 13600hp
2,720hp heal on 1 target
13,600hp healed on 5 targets
If the same build is used with Zerk amulets and Maintenance oil (100% crit chance), the healing goes up to:
3,400 healing on one target
17,000 healing on 5 targets
(edited by HannaDeFreitas.4236)
Agreed, I miss UW/FOW/Tombs/DoA too.
The problem is that those places were rewarding in GW1, if they were introduced now they wouldn’t unless they rewarded unique items (rare skins) and new materials (i.e. Pristine Glob of Ectoplasm).
And by rare I mean really really rare. You don’t drop an Ethereal/Shadow Bow on your first run.
Incorrect reports in the OP:
- Thief’s whirlwind axe doesn’t give projectile reflection anymore, was changed a couple of patches ago.
- Endure pain actually lasts 5 seconds. You can confirm it by looking at the buff and the cooldown timer; the buff will go off exactly when the skill cooldown is 85s.
- Heightened Focus was tested by players on guru and it actually gives the crit rate bonus, it just doesn’t show in the hero panel like most of crit-chance increasing sigils/skills.
More bugs:
- Bull’s Charge often ends up pushing you through your target and beyond instead of stopping at him.
- Bolas; gets “obstructed” even if terrain is plain and there is nothing between you and your target.
