I’m rank 34 and a few guildies are already 40. Hotjoin grind just seems a tad tedious except when I’m trying a new build/profession. Pugging tourneys also seems like a big waste of time because you will lose to premades and map chat premades will lose to regular teams. Honestly, I’ve noticed that I’m either afk in the mists or playing with my team when I’m online so the grind is slow going for me.
Henge of Denravi seems plenty active.
All the vendors give the same chests and the same tokens according to their rank. And i highly doubt you’re high enough rank to even access the rank 100 and 110 glory vendors.
Thank you so much!
Big props! and i think this will really help people see how balanced this game actually is.
But as a statistics major I will always hope for larger sample size XP
Or it’s the wolf short bow in the pvp locker… i mean…
When people are complaining they have the short end of the stick I would assume it’s for PvP reasons.
So yes the ranger is probably the best class in PvE because it has a baller kitten pet, but on the other hand we dont have a role in competitive PvP teams because we dont outshine any other class at anything.
You’re right all classes have their strengths and weaknesses however as balance is right now some professions have more strength than weakness. Example being a thiefs high damage and high survivability (you mentioned the survivability part in your post but forgot to add the part where thieves have the highest burst in the game)
You claim that people arnt thinking in a team perspective. But people are already beginning to understand guardians are a staple in nearly all tourney comps because you will not hold mid point without one.
Some QQ may be directed toward 8v8 hornlike but there are still some balancing discrepencies in tournament format
Eh, it’s not like that will ever happen in tournament play and very very very very rarely in sPvP so it’s not something major.
Those 7 thieves though… that needs to stop.
If you know how to use the spirit elite is arguably the best elite in the game. (Aside from moa) >.>
I’m sick of team seeing your comp on kylo and switching to there own decided comp (usually 3-4 engi) I hate this aspect sitting with 4 engi and mass knock backs on the last map is dumb, the reason i feel this way is because it plays nothing into there ability to get to the last round.
Being able to adapt is part of the ability to play the game. Although i disagree that Anet should allow class swaps, but it’s not hard for you to change your build to include lots of stability to counter such a lame comp.
Uh…okay lol
Yeah, what’s also really been bugging me lately. Is that if it takes more than 3 weeks to release a blog post (A purely written article) how long will it take to actually release the content we’re so desperate for.
Things are looking bleak…
Ranger forum is that way →
See the things with classes like theifs or Mesmer is that I learned to fight them and will do quite well with most classes. But problem I have is the guardians and warriors. More so guardians, but these 2 classes definitely need some abilities toned down. To be able to hit harder then everyone and still have more health and defense and stun lock people to death in seconds or the crazy amounts of healing. It seems like every class has its trade offs, but not these two. Can Burst you faster then a thief, with more armor and health to boot, and heal themselves nonstop/condition cures.
I dont remember guardians having any kind of burst, and hundred blades warriors are kited easily unlike theifs. I’m not sure what class you play that could possible have trouble with a warrior but i might take a guess at elementalist?
People have been telling ANet to implement other modes since BWE 1. There are no signs of new modes, or even 5 vs 5 hot join. There is no choice. Play conquest 8 vs 8, get stomped by established teams, or stomp pugs. Join a desolate server to play with friends? Random pugs will join in and interrupt 1 vs 1s.
This guy understands the situation and what we’re dealing with here. It’s very bleak and hopefully ANet will come up with something soon.
ITT: People making ominous references to irrelevant games in their impatient attempts for vindication on whiney complaints about a game that has just launched a month ago amidst a massive number of players still enjoying and still playing this “broken” PvP referred to by forum dwellers not representative of the entire GW2 gaming community as a whole by even a small percent.
How about just be patient? And I would really like to see some actual statistics posted for the number of players making this mass trickling exodus grom GW2 people keep talking about as if they are privvy to some special info based solely on their own dislike for the game.
PvP is great for launch, and it’s exciting to think that it will only improve from here.
Xfire statistics are above, and there is some validity to the communities frustrations when a major part of the game is flawed to the point where competition doesnt exist and balance has been ignored.
The very least they could have done is separate the PuG tourney groups and the premades that would make literally everything excusable and people would be more patient.
Downed state needs work so eles are not free rallies for the enemy. Only reason why I refuse to play ele in tournaments
Boy rangers are incredibly low on these lists T_T
I coulda sworn they capped it out at 350 or am i simply crazy?
speed hackers? I’ve gotten to rank 31 and i haven’t ever encountered one… are you sure you’re not missing a boon or something?
And @Visualize there are a multitude of ways to evade and get out of slows, i mean elementalists have a trait that makes it so all they have to do is dodge to get out of chills and burning.
I sure hope so! XD
Thanks for the tips guys!
@Qian: yeah I do missclick 3 a lot trying to hit other buttons and my 2 usage could be a bit better. But I try to save my 5 to interrupt things I see coming like heals/ the supply crate drop from the first clip
And ATM my back up build is a rather boring point defense build because there isn’t a whole lot of room for rangers in tPvP atm :/ I’ll look into making something else for my next video
@Midenoche: you’re right the roots are really good, but from my experience good players have like a zillion ways to get out of them plus killing the roots isn’t that hard. That’s why I generally use spirit because the healing and the Rez on myself and my teammates is more guaranteed.
But yeah I’ll spend more getting clips so it isn’t 99% spirit rezzing and more about other things ranger can do
Yeah idk what’s wrong with your ping but it’s not lagging in sPvP for me at least.
And yes hotjoins are really brutal and dull at times, that’s why i prefer to play tournaments and things where there is some coherent thought process behind what’s going on.
that’s my take on it, and i REALLY enjoy tPvP like beyond explanation. It’s made GW2 my favorite game in the past 5 years at least.
The above link seems to not be working, this one should though
Good points Stice, the warhorn is extremely valuable. Although, at least for myself, i tend to save birds (hunters call) when i have already switched to sword/horn because it doesnt do as much damage as crossfire (shortbow auto atk) because my build is based around conditions. As much fun as it is to play with other people’s minds, i do my best to assume other players are at their A game as well as to better improve my performance.
Also Call of the Wild is usually on cooldown (i may have made an error in the video idk) because i use it A LOT to roam around the map.
Thanks for the tip
Fear mark on CD. Worm on CD. This is the result of a 5 second fight:

Wait he beat you when you didnt have cooldowns, and you beat him when you did…
I dont see the problem here.
Yeah 15k seems a bit much, insane burst doesnt promote skillfull gameplay and neither does insane tank.
IMO Anet needs to promote the middle ground a little better but i couldnt imagine how.
Oh sure, http://en.gw2codex.com/build/15471-condition-shortbow-pvp
I copy and pasted the guide from the forum into the comments section
Edit: Oh and thank you
I noticed that a lot of people are getting the feeling that rangers arn’t that great tPvP. I mean in a general sense they do stuff a little worse than other classes but they bring some great utility and a constant range damage that you wont find from any other class. They’re solid and reliable unlike a theif or an elementalist who could get bursted down at any moment. They dont need stuns or constant invisibility to do damage or stay alive.
Also this is my first GW2 video and my first video with sony vegas so any tips/advice would be much appreciated!
Also if you have any questions about my ranger i’ll be happy to answer them in this thread!
@HappinessFactory: I think exploits weren’t supposed to be posted on the community forum and you are rather supposed to be using the in game ticket system via Support > submit a bug or something to that nature.
ah okay thanks! I’ll delete that post then so less people know :x
It’s happened to me a couple times on Khylo, I’ll be running up a wall because i was afk for one reason or another and then it would fail to teleport me back to spawn. I’ve seen it happen against me on FoN tons of times for keep but im not quite sure how they do it. But yeah this is something i hope they fix XD
When tPvP becomes more competitive with the release of more content, I expect this conversation to die out fast. I’m already seeing ultra tank/regen builds that are impossible to down with or w/o quickness.
I mean to be honest without this level of quickness burst, that guardian camping mid point will be immovable. Bunker builds are already strong, taking away/nerfing quickness will just stagnate the meta and no one wants that let me tell you.

Shortbow Condi with lots of survivability.
Hello! I wasn’t quite sure where to post this on the forum so I decided this was as good of a place as any.
This video features tPvP from a ranger perspective
