@Elegie. I go back to my warrior for at least a game or two every day. I love the play style and I’ve always loved the warrior class thematically. I’m saddened that it’s been gutted since HoT-launch but I’m hopeful devs will eventually balance the classes. I loved playing Gs/Hammer and I still do despite how weak it is against many of the new elites.

Generic false assumption.

A few good players teaming up together to bypass team arrangement, making team composition skewed. That’s pretty much as far as it goes. It takes a lot more than just being in the party to be a premade. And it’s usually obvious since the first few seconds if you’re up against REAL premade: where each of them heads to, class combination, spec combination, confidence & aggressiveness, etc.

Real premade are still not that abundant in PVP. I play almost every day and maybe I face a full premade once every two weeks.

What the heck seriously some post here thinks warrior is freaking viable because of Rampage? if so then i hope Arenanet won’t take you seriously because you are a SCRUB.

Those player lost to warrior rampage without cooldowns or stability. They’ve never actually played a warrior with rampage in sPvP in the current post-HoT meta and realized how ineffective of a 180s cooldown elite skill it is.

If you’re playing sPvP just roll a dragonhunter. They’re really easy to play and bring a ton of damage and point control in conquest.

Na, warrior are rewarding (compared to other classes) in low skill play, even if hard to do well in high skill play, the developers I believe are genuinly bad players and conceive warrior as “op” because they’re in low skill play and thusly it’s stronger than others. Must be op right?

At “low skill play” a heartseeker thief is the most OP. Also longbow camping hunters are OP as well.

From what I see very frequently, warriors can endure enough to force their enemies to pop some of their defensive utilities and then go bat-kitten crazy with rampage on flat ground where nobody can escape nor hide or just pop 8 seconds of endure pain and zerker stance for condi immunity, this is enough to (if played well) wipe even whole teams that are depleted in cooldowns.

It’s all a matter of who you fight against, honestly.

Warrior has the strongest downed state in the game, as in, he will win/draw a downed fight against any class in the game. It’s balanced by the fact his other downed skills aren’t that strong. I don’t think it needs to change. Would only add more condi spam into the game too.

That title actually belongs to Necros. Necro downed state #3 can down players and then kill them before their own #3 even comes off cooldown.

In PvE? Congrats on charging into a group of spiders and killing them. In PvP against non-braindead opponents the only thing you’ll charge into with Berserker spec is your death.

I agree. Warrior down skills need to be revisited. At the very least the #2 skill needs to be instant cast. Guardians have a half second AOE knockback why should a single target kock-down be double the cast time?

Except they deal, at most, two condis and need to flip 5 or 6 times while having you stand in their caltrops/uncatchable proc for the damage to be threatening. Like burn guardian, they’re countered by the bare minimum of cleanse. Unlike burn guardian, their damage takes forever to deal.

I like how you say they “need” to flip 5 or 6 times as if it’s something difficult to do. It gives them evades to incoming CC and damage.

If the Meta is that all the elites rule the roost the no I don’t like it. It makes no sense to me to wave a magic wand and render all the old builds mostly ineffective. The game should be about as wide a variety of builds as possible being effective. That being said there will always be something people will cry about but I just don’t think its right to cudgel people into buying the expansion and to have everyone play a small variety of builds.

It’s called a business model. Anet needs to incentivize PvP players to purchase HoT

Yeah as stated by others, things get much better when you fully unlock Glint and your trait lines. As a Herald I can solo champions it should take 3+ players to kill. (As an example I can solo WvW Lords in EoTM). Not impossible for other classes per say, but revenants definitely are not something to be laughed at as weak in PvE.

Anet devs need to understand that buffing damage of a warrior does NOT help a warrior at all. It’s the bloody mechanics that doesn’t allow the warrior to fully utilize himself.

1) Very little survivability – Adrenaline nerf (rapid degen ooc) and Cleansing Ire nerf (draining adrenaline whether or not the attack is missed/block) has hit the warrior’s ability to perform consistently hard.

Solution: Undo these changes

2) Bugged physical skills – Seriously will they be ever fixed? Rush, Bull’s charge, savage leap, Eviscerate and Whirlwind attack (rarely) are the skills that comes to my mind that misses the target ~50% of the time except WW which is a rare case. Imagine if mesmer’s shatter skills missed, a guardian’s trap missed, ele’s burst skulls missed, etc. This renders the warrior completely useless in certain situations where the tides could’ve turned into the warrior’s favor.

Solution: Make Rush and BC teleports and increase the range of the other skills and fix the bugs first

3) Blind spam, evade spam, block spam of other classes – while warrior can’t do any of these lol. Blind is very powerful on a warrior, being a melee class primarily and two handers on warrior are so slow that blind spams almost neutralizes a warrior.

Solution: Nerf access to blind, blocks of ALL classes. They should be rare and should be used wisely, not just spam it. Remove sigil of energy from PvP as well

They wont just nerf every other class for warrior’s sake. They need to redesign warrior mechanics from ground up. Warriors are a class that was designed for when GW2 first released and a lot has changed since then. Nerfing everyone else to essentially revert those changes would negate the growth of the game. We cant revert the entire PvP scene, we need to update warriors to fit in the new PvP scene.

It’s important for people to play a warrior in PvP settings. Otherwise, who would new players practice their dodges against? Most straightforward and telegraphed skills in the game are a great starting point for people who haven’t done any PvP to learn when to dodge another player’s skills.

Many older core classes need complete overhauls and redesigned. They were originally designed for other core classes and now cannot compete with the new elite specs. If in the case that the same class’s elite spec is underpar as with Warriors, the entire class becomes irrelevant in sPvP.

1 Dragonhunter is easy to deal with, predict, and counter. (Even then they need to be toned down)

When you queue into a team of 3 reapers and 2 dragonhunters like I did this morning, it becomes purely unstoppable. League will show Anet how unbalanced the game is in its current state. When all of the top tier ladder players are playing reapers, dragonhunters, and scrappers, devs will know to tweak those classes. Until then, I’ll just keep practicing my vanilla warrior main.

Any semblance of PvP balance that was left in this game is now completely gone post-HoT launch. It’s a complete joke that the dreamers at Anet think that GW2 can even surface on the competitive scene when the balance is this atrocious.

Perhaps they would be wiser to spend the $400K they’re throwing into the prize pool for a quick news banner to actually hiring and paying Devs willing and capable of balancing the PvP in this game.

so learn to engage and disengage fast with shiro and heal through with life steal and fast dmg
use your legendary swap, generosity, staff, malyx etc… just time it right and you’ll do fine

Thieves are often traited to remove condi periodically while in stealth with no additional initiative cost. Also, a revenant isn’t a thief 100%, we have ways to engage the enemy quicky (Phase Traversal) but no ways to disengage as easily as a thief (Shadowsteps).

Is Expansion worth just the revenant alone?

Revenant Class Resource Mangement - Flawed

Every class in GW2 has a resource to manage. For warriors, it’s cooldowns on skills. For thieves, it’s initiative. For Revenants, the resource was supposed to be energy. However, now, it seems that we also have to manage cooldowns with a recent blanket 5 sec CD nerf to Phase Traversal.

I believe a change like this removes a lot of skill from the revenant skill cap. For example, a thief that is forward thinking in PvP will not simply use every single available initiative as fast as they can regenerate it. They’ll wait until they’ve pooled together enough initiative to pull off several skills at once in order to be more effective. This is how the energy resource is supposed to work as well. The idea behind pooling energy is to then release it at an opportune time to be more effective. What is the point of pooling energy if we cant then execute a larger sequence of skills because we’re gated by cooldowns? We cant pool the energy to swap legends and we cant pool the energy within a legend because of cooldowns, so what is the point of pooling energy? If this is the case, why not just make our skills cooldown only and scrap the entire concept of energy?

The issue here is that Revenants are supposed to manage 1 resource: Energy. Now with blanket cooldowns on Energy skills, we have to manage 2 resources within all of our utility AND weapon skills.

My suggestion? Remove Cooldowns on Energy based skills, and remove (or at least significantly lower) Energy cost on cooldown based skills. For example, all of the Legends and utilities should require energy, as that would thematically fit with the revenant class. However, weapon skills should be based on just cooldowns.

From there, if Devs feel that revenants are doing something too much, it’s easy to balance the appropriate resource.

An example of this could be increasing the cooldown of Sword #3 by 1 second to control a revenant’s UA damage while increasing the energy cost of Phase traversal to 30 instead of 25 to balance a revenant’s mobility.

Another solution is to have energy bar only reset to 50% if you are under 50% energy upon swapping legends. Thus, if you pool your energy to 85% while tanking in Jalis, you can then swap to Malyx/Shiro with 85% energy to unleash a longer attack chain.

Either way, the current iteration with both heavy energy costs and cooldowns on all skills, weapons and utilities alike, is making revenants a sitting duck in PvP with a headache of resource management.

I actually like grinding my masteries and how it requires xp so it incentivises players to get out there and participate in events once they’ve completed them.

The only issue is that I would like to grind it out while playing as the elite specs. For a revenant wanting to go Herald, this takes doubly long as other professions.

It’s not that I would like to unlock things without playing the content. I just want to be able to explore the content as a Herald Revenant. It’s crummy that by the time we can play around with Herald, we’ve basically explored most of the content already. Besides, giving us the elite spec earlier would allow us to enjoy the content at our own pace instead of rushing through just to play as the elite spec.

GW2 PvP is a cluster compared to a more methodical WoW. However, GW2 is more fast paced and fun. That being said, dont expect either games to be balanced. If you want balance, play a FPS or MOBA – Dont play MMOs.

Dragonhunter Feedback:

1. Can we please rename Dragon Hunter? It sounds so generic D&D and doesn’t thematically fit our class at all. If anything it sounds like an elite hunter/ranger more than a guardian and protector. Others have offered many good suggestions (i.e. Paragon, Cleric, Sentinal, etc.)

2. Bow Skill #2 rooting the guardian is counterintuitive to a ranged weapon. Ranged requires either the player to be chasing or kiting, both of which are nullified by being rooted from your main damage source.

3. Bow Skill #5 needs either a shorter cooldown or a faster cast time. It’s too easy to get out of and too easy to waste with an absurdly long cooldown time.

  1. Traps are bad. Traps dont fit the theme of the class, are difficult to use, easy to escape, and requires you to be at the location where you’re setting the trap. It would be much better if we could at least set them from a distance as with consecrations (seeing as they’re both magical abilities), but I’m not a fan of traps in general.

Dragon hunter significantly lacks synergy. The bow does not synergize well with other weapons, and traps are too easy to escape for an average skilled player. I agree that thematically it does not fit our profession nor does it make me excited to begin playing my profession’s specialization upon HoT release.
