Posers, a true ranger doesnt cry when there is a nerf, you merely embraced the nerf, we were born for the sole purpose of being needed. This is nothing but existence!
Hello, after playing many ranger builds in PvE for a while i came up with a list of things i personally would like to see improved/fixed.
1- Sword Auto attack is a mess, either you have to disable it and go manual the whole time or just eat everything thrown at you.
What would i like to see, a sword that doesn’t lock you in a large animation cycle (prevents you from dodging in time), the leap somehow not happening when you have no-target (i have killed myself a bunch of times because of this), and perhaps a shorter execution delay for skill 2.
2- Greatsword, awesome weapon really don’t have any complains about the weapon skills, but trait synergy is weak, Two-handed Training is a Master level trait and it only buffs a mere 5%, there are a lot better options to take on Nature Magic.
I would like to see the trait getting somewhat of a buff, perhaps if GS is meant for defense, add toughness or w/e you can come up with.
3- Torch, great for Condition damage, but it’s just dull, skill 5 is an 8 second fire field witch is very nice but both skills are just burn + burn….
I don’t have a clear idea of what to add here but maybe a dev or someone from the community can come up with a better skill set.
4- Storm Spirit, while maybe useful for PvP, i haven’t found any use for this spirit buff/ability in PvE…
Maybe change it for something more desirable like Vulnerability on hit?, and the skill could be a small daze [synergy with moment of clarity
].
5- Master’s bond, please fix, i hate water because of this trait (you automatically swap pets when you go underwater, this resets all the stacks your pet has).
Just fix!
6-Pets, and the most important thing i would like to see improved, is not stats, is not damage, but please give us a “Pet dodge” button!
F3 doesn’t work if you’re melee, pets always eat all the AoEs bosses trow out, it shouldn’t be hard to make F1 a toggle between Attack/Call back, make it have a 0.5 second CD so people who bash their keyboard don’t complain, that way we can have room in F3 for a Pet 1s Dodge! make it have a CD of 8s or whatever you consider balanced but please just add something like this!.
If any other ranger out there wants to add any opinion you’re welcome to do so, lets keep this constructive and thinker some good ideas to improve this class quality of life (note i’m not asking for direct buffs just some fixes and tweaks).
What typo? It’s pretty clear: when struck
So you get hit, take damage and if it procs (50% chance) their next attack misses.
I guess in your specific case, thief hits you with backstab, and the next attack (probably heartseeker) has a 50% chance of missing.
By typo i meant the trait description reads “blindess” instead of blindness.

Will this trait trigger after i’m hit with a melee attack, or as the server detects that i’m about to be hit by a melee attack (making it pro-active) ?
Was wondering if this could help vs Backstab thieves.
Has anyone ever tried using this trait + armor mods?

Please do what OP suggested for F1 and make F3 a pet “dodge” skill.
Melee rangers can not call back their pet to avoid bosses AoE, in most cases they die/ get hit on their way back.
Please make F3 something like 2s pet dodge, se we can have some window for our own personal dodging.
This will create a snowball effect, having nightcaps at low tier servers will encourage more people to transfer to higher tiers, making it even harder to coordinate a night time defense.
Oceanic players do not stay in low tier servers, they leave ASAP. There are tons of incentives coming from high/med tier servers that want night players to fill their gaps.
As someone who is playing in SF atm, while day time it is pretty solid (except patch weeks) night time is a complete ghost town, countless nights it has been me +3 guildies trying to hold our entire BL from the vampires
I’m so sorry you can’t 3v1 people anymore, maybe you should realize youre class is now what they call “Balanced”.
Ele is a very high skill celling class, pro’s do extremely well, and new players get destroyed.
Your friend probably didn’t have any idea of how Op Eles were at WvW.
Good theorycrafters will tell you to go for ruby orbs if you cannot afford scholar rune’s as it is the second best DPS option.
From my experience the new healing signet helps me stay above 90% HP a lot easier.
To me scholar runes were a learning experience, they required me to play better, be more combat aware and rewarded me for evading most attacks.
Don’t let players discourage you, if you find a group that wants you to ping great, wear your orbs with pride, we have all been there once.
Stealth is killing this class.
It’s not just warhorn and pure of voice, Distracting strikes also procs twice.

This happened when i tried a build with runes of perplexity.
Can someone from Anet please clarify if there is a typo on the healing skills now getting less effective healing from the Healing Power stat?
Because having decreased values on the first 3 stages of Adrenalinne Surge, Signet, and Mending is kinda confusing.
Buahahahaha, that was one hell of a short FoTM, glad there wont be any more necros using 5% DS to block my evicerate.

Yes they do…Whirling Defense is a reflection skill.
Is not half as practical as WoR or Feedback, the area is too small, and it can’t be casted on a group of mobs incoming to the group, and it compromises the ranger.

Increasing the time any more would be OP, perhaps just improving stances.
Endure Pain – add, if trait-ed, take no condition damage.
Berserker Stance – add, if trait-ed, remove 2 conditions at the time of activation.
Balanced Stance – add, if trait-ed, (Honestly don’t know what to add here, maybe a small CD reduction instead of increased duration?, Since many are taking Dolyak signet over this.)
Frenzy – add, if trait-ed, 3% damage increase, 100 condi damage.
Just a suggestion, as increased duration is barely noticeable for half of the available stances.

I usualy just bolas em and bullscharge away from em (lol), with sword we can manage to get away, and if he spams heartseeker to catch you, turn around and lay down the pain.
Both sigils of agony do stack, Battle and Rage do not share the same CD.
One is Activate on Swap, the other is Activate on Crit.
Please delete your warrior and go board the Necro FOTM train.
Not for Dpsing, but weakness is quite powerful vs bosses now.
It’s more of a support tool, but sadly Super Elixir is a light field and not water :/
Hello, I’ve been theory crafting a bit and with the recent improvement to “Distracting strikes” and Sword auto attack being way faster now, i came up with this “build”.
Tried a previous version on a 28 FOTM, and decided it needs a bit more Vit/ toughness.
As of 28/6/13 this is the setup :
I would really appreciate any input/suggestion.
The focus of this build is to maintain high DPS with bleeds, while being able to put 4-8 average confusion stacks on mobs (3100-3400 dmg per tick @ 8, stacking 4 per interrupt), and burning + getting might when i block. (sword 5, mace 2, shield 5).
Perks*
-Sword bleeds last long enough.
-Flurry brings stacks up to 25 for around 5s. On a very short CD. (thanks to new faster recharge from trait).
-Confusion lasts around 13s. While this requires me to interrupt mobs, it doesn’t have any “effective” up time, but when i get 8-12 stacks damage is insane.
[Burning worries me, i’m not sure if rune of the guardian is the best choice here, i get 1.6 s duration per block, synergies s with Mighty defenses.]
This build is designed for PvE, and it is still experimental, please feel free to share any constructive criticism.

This is why it was nerfed, it was so massively OP that it twisted the conception of an utility skill and set some extremely high expectation for one single skill.
Stun breaker, endurance refill, revive field, condition removal field. IN ONE SINGLE UTILITY. But since you guys got used to having such a massively OP skill now you find anything that doesnt bend time and space while making pancakes “useless”.
More thinking, less whining, act like real engineers.
Like mentioned before, go ahead take the easy way out.
Maybe perhaps this game isn’t for you. I tought rangers were crap until i dueled one, and had one fight by my side in PvE/PvE. Of course, a good one…
PvE Ammo mod works really well, let your team mates lay the conditions, watch rifle do over 3k per shot.
Why divinity runes ? ruby orbs gets you more power/prec and the same 12% crit dmg.
Please post your build, i have tried to balance the stats, it seems you got there first.

Net Turret, bombs, and mines, tho a WvW roamer doesn’t have mines with him, the turret messes up their rotation.
Also don’t fight a thief 1v1 in WvW. Thief can maintain their main defense while still being serker.
Shield 5 is good if they are d/d, if they have points in shadow arts don’t even bother, just log out and come back in
With the recent changes to Healing turret, healing power can be very good for a full support healing build. I often use elixir bomb build for dungeons and it does extremely well.
Having healing power for other purposes may not work as well, because we don’t have passive signets/skills that boost our stats and since we are already kinda lacking in DPS in a way its not worth it. (also we lose even more stats when we swap to our kits -weapon damage).
Here i’m thinking Engi shield is OP, and someone doesn’t even “like” to use it….
How is having a projectile reflect/aoe knockback/ blaster, 2s block/melee stun (witch is AWESOME vs thiefs) a bad thing? Nothng beats reflecting a kill shot or a pin down back to the warrior.
Sure pistol 4 is quite good, and 5 is cool because you can shoot it behind you while running. But nothing compares to a shield in pvp.
I have saved countless souls from getting finished with shield 4 or 5. You cant do that with p/p. Also the extra blast when you drop healing turret, its effectively x2 blast + 2,500(+) healing for nearby allies.
Both in PvE and PvP, P/S is miles better, more healing, more cc, block, blaster, projectile finisher.

Engi is on the defensive vs a good thief with 20 in shadow arts, shadow protector and shadows embrace can always outlast an engineer.
D/P is pretty good when you need to reset the fight and try again, the hardest thief for me to kill are the semi defensive, stealthy type. Running away whenever they want with invis + condi removal and regen kitten es me off sometimes :/
Hah, DH will probably miss all that PvDoor at night time.
Hope you find a server with enough coverage to keep you entertained.
1- Guiding system for turrets, make them attack the same target that the engi is on.
2- More tactical, or lower CD on gadgets.
3- Traits to have better synergy.
Bombs with crit damage, thats the highest sustainable DPS you can get.
It’s not safe tho.
Oh, engineers….. forced to dive into waste and dangerous water, just to make a point out of your existence. Brave soul, forgotten mind.

The modifier “10% condition duration” stops working after youre downed, to fix this the user has to manualy re-equip said pistols.

SD build with zerker works pretty well if youre runnng with a zerg, the high burst dmg and the bouncing lighting gets massive DPS on zerg vs zerg.
Use gearshield to block, speedy kits give you perma swiftness and vigor with traits, pull targets with magnet, use toss elixir U for the wall of reflection (Massive dmg if pleaced correctly).
Nades for attacking and defending walls, use bombs for combo fields, there are so many uses for engi in WvW i can’t really name them all.
We are kinda weak in 1v1 situations tho.
It’s all about the nightcaping.
I just hope all the people who play this class to win with just 1 build really do stop playing engi, this class has more than meets the eye (pun) and requires way more “thinking”. It is true we are not at the top, and that just makes things better for those mature players looking for a challenge.
And please, Incendiary ammo is not what it used to be, but its now a great trait for everything not grenade, 4s burn with my first crit?, Awesome i say.

This is what im getting from the launcher, right now its downloading the 230k files, and using my bandwith.
While patching, the client crashed, i open the client again and im now downloading 230k+ files….. thats the entire game.
Is there a way for me to fix this? tried using the repair tool from support but it doesnt work.

Hey, I just wanted to give a shout out to IoJ. The guys in EBG who took back their keep… Great job you guys, it was a heck of a fight. I could not have been easy to hack and one shot the T3 doors and one shot all of our siege with an elementalist. The battle raged on for about 35 seconds on a T3 keep before they finally broke into the Lord’s room, from start to finish. BRAVO ZULU.
Pay attention to this, inner T3 wall was down before we could get from SM to the keep, ioj didnt have golems or anything.
