They created a single new tier of gear, and that’s it. That’s not changing everything completely. They didn’t make it so anyone actually needs that tier of gear, like other games do.
And so if in the upcoming weeks Berserker is no longer BiS no one will have any complaints because no one actually needs BiS.
First of all..the game is called GUILD wars..meaning guilds and being member of one is kinda core-business to the game and people who are playing this.
Check the History of Tyria in the Wiki. You’ll find that the name Guild Wars has NOTHING to do with the kind of guilds you’re talking about.
One thing that would add to the immersion of the game would be if some race, somewhere, actually spoke a different language. I know that would be a lot of effort for very little gain but it would be so cool.
Oh, and if you search online you’ll see that harvesting carrots in the winter is fairly common. It’s even suggested that they’re sweeter and tastier then.

Wow, I didn’t realize this even existed. A copper, silver and gold mining node usable once a day? What a ripoff! Heck, even if there was an Orichalcum node it wouldn’t be worth 800 gems.
Some of us (myself included, obviously) will buy this not because of the money value, but because we simply like things like this. For us, it’s worth it for other reasons.
Fair enough. It’s not worth it from an economic point of view but as something cosmetic it’s certainly just as valuable as say, a new armor skin.
How about a golem uprising?

Quick question: other than the name is there any difference between the Mr. Sparkles mini and the Miniature Blue Siege Golem?
Win The Game. Purchasable at the Black Lion Trading Company for ten million gems.

I have so many chests… wish they could be used in some sort of recipe.
Start a mesmer.
Here’s how we nerf berserker …..
Stop making content that is a DPS race and make content that actually utilizes Support and Control.
Remove Unshakeable and Defiant. Give boss encounters access to boons and conditions.
Congratulations you’ve nerfed the need for berserkers!
[loud][applause] And please give bosses AI superior to that of a double slot toaster.[/applause][/loud]
Uh, I have a friend who routinely plays it on his big screen TV while sitting on his oversized cushy chair. PC connected via HDMI. Wireless keyboard with built-in trackball. Why would you need a PS4?
Well, what the OP is proposing might be a tad harsh, and has problems already described above.
My proposal, and this worked quite well in my Dungeons & Dragons campaign that lasted many a year, is to reduce the damage produced proportional to the square root of the overall health of the toon.
For example, if you’re at twenty-five percent health you would only produce fifty percent of your normal damage output. At fifty percent you would only produce seventy-one percent.. This would really scare the glass cannon builds since now you’re going to lose the dps race far, far more often. But it would encourage support and healing, and well-rounded players and teams.
Just my two cents.
I despise and loathe Ascended gear. There are still aspects of the game that I like and I enjoy spending time with friends. But as I have stated before I am protesting in the only effective way available to me. I have not spent (nor will I ever spend) one cent of real money in the game since the Ascended unveiling. I have learned to be frugal and convert in-game money to gems when something catches my eye or I need another transmutation stone.
Even plus 5 levels would be welcome. With the reasonable caveat that you can’t raise your character level above the maximum level you have already achieved. In other words, your first level 80 character can’t benefit from this.
Oh, and thanks for the good laugh Wasbunny!
A friend of mine has gotten a WupWup Weapon Chest and a precursor (The Chosen) from Tri-Key chests. Much better luck than I’ve experienced in the game.
Better than nothing, but these birthday gifts were underwhelming. I still have toons that I created during Beta who haven’t opened their presents because what’s the point? Compare this to the anticipation and excitement of opening a birthday present in GW1.
Ooh… giant pink fluffy bunny costume. That gave me such a good chuckle.
Heh. I like “Name in use already”.
Clearly the differences make a difference to some folks, even in PvE. I’ve been kicked out of a dungeon PUG because I couldn’t ping three ascended items. And I’ve heard of similar incidents occurring to other people.
The manifesto was a nonbinding document; but many of us were excited and pleased by what it said and implied. So we’re understandably disappointed and unhappy by how certain aspects of the game have veered away from the manifesto.
To coin Douglas Adams: ArenaNet is a bunch of kitten kitten who will be first against the wall when the revolution comes.
Seras, I just assume that Holy Swiss Cheese refers to the holes in Swiss cheese. As you said, “a clever play on words.”
As for the graphics, I have the good fortune of a setup that allows me to see the game at 2560×1440 resolution with maximum settings and it does indeed look outstanding.
THREE people? Are you sure it wasn’t a mesmer with two clones?
Finally buying my Kuunavang mini. Completing The Deep for the first time. Acquiring a full set of Vabbian armor for my necro. Seeing Abaddon dance and Gwen as an adult.
Wait. What was the question again?
And then a friend of mine who has no interest in Legendary weapons got a very nice precursor (The Chosen) the other day just from using a tricolor key. He sold it immediately and bought one of his toons Tier 3 Cultural Armor as part of the celebration.
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
(2) Not only should most wildlife run away… other adversaries should lose morale and run away as well. Vanquishing a foe should be just as rewarding as killing a foe.
(3) Respawning rates usually don’t bother me unless I’m someplace horrid like Orr.
So what’s on sale today? Yes, I can’t log in for at least the next few hours.
I’m on the precipice already. Add another tier higher than Ascended/Legendary and this game will be uninstalled as soon as Asuranly possible.
Cantha? Elona? Merge with Blizzard?
They would still buy gems to buy their Ascended items. That said, that would be a LOT of gems. Kind of defeats the purpose/advantage of not paying a monthly subscription fee.
Talking to folks in Chat over the weekend… shouldn’t Legendaries be the ones not sellable on the Trading Post? They’re the supposedly truly rare, almost unique, items that arguably no one would want to part with. Ascended, on the other hand, just feels like Exotics spiked with Grind, shaken, not stirred
People complaining is actually a sign that they want the game to be even better, not that they think it’s bad. When people think a game is bad, they just leave.
One of the most elementary and accurate things ever said in these forums.
I play the game with nearly max settings in WQHD resolution (2560×1440). When a friend of mine who plays GW2 came by and saw how the game looked on my system he was flabbergasted. And yes, although other games look better, GW2 is top-notch for an MMO.
On the other hand, it looks like ANOTHER greatsword.
Greetings All!
Nowhere in the Wiki, even in the discussion area, does it specify how much damage this trait generates. Perchance does anyone have any numbers? How good or bad a trait is this?
Many thanks in advance!
I agree with much that has already been said here. Just by gathering the materials and playing the game it looks like I will have my first Ascended weapon in a month or two. More of an accident than anything else. That said, I hate the whole concept of Ascended gear.
Ever since Ascendency was announced I have vowed not to spend any more real money on this game as a way of protesting. I have learned to be frugal and will only on occasion convert in-game currency to gems. So far, mission accomplished.
The Blackwater Mesmer Build is devoted to condition damage so I would suggest going all-in. Koi Cake or its longer-lasting sister Rare Veggie Pizza would be my suggestion. Combine with Master Tuning Crystal and you’re ready to roll. If money is no object then the Toxic Focusing Crystal is best.
Built last year. Run the game at 2560×1440 without any problems and solid frame rate. Very modestly overclocked.

Signet of Capture — because this whole facet of the game in GW1 is sadly missing in GW2.
This would be a great topic for a CDI. I personally love underwater; but other than an occasional Daily and a couple of Champion kills in Frostgorge Sound I don’t have much reason to have my toons be there. So much potential being wasted!
I really did enjoy swimming around the ruins of the old Lion’s Arch when I first started playing the game.
The name reminds me of the movie Avatar for some reason. lol!
Presumably because the alien race was called Na’vi.
I agree with the OP in his assessment of GW1 grind or lack thereof. I wish GW2 was the same but we’re sadly way past the point of no return. Not sure what point the OP was trying to make. As for the missing 1% critical damage bonuses, I couldn’t be happier about that.
NCSoft’s Third Quarter Earnings Report showed that Sales, Operating Profit, Pre-tax Income and Net Income were all lower that quarter than any of the prior four quarters. The report blamed this in part to a large percentage of Lineage’s in-game item sales being carried over to the fourth quarter. Nonetheless, this wasn’t a stellar report. And Guild Wars 2 and ArenaNet are a major part of NCSoft. At the very least there’s no reason to believe the game is growing and thriving. At best it’s holding its own.
I thought the weapon skins were for the most part cool but they were way too easy to acquire. The market is unquestionably flooded with them. At the very least there should have been a new set of them this year.
My Necro still uses the Princess Wand skin.

1. In what MMO (this excludes Guild Wars 1, which was a co-op RPG) have you ever been able to get BiS for every character you have at level cap easily or quickly? Zero. Stop holding this game to an unreasonable standard.
It is a bitter pill for the vast majority of Guild Wars 1 players to see Guild Wars 2 gradually become less and less of a true successor to their much loved predecessor. ArenaNet made many promises, erected a set of pillars, and then crashed and burned after the game was released. I understand why they did it; but it doesn’t mean I have to like it.
And in many ways Guild Wars 1 was a better MMO than Guild Wars 2 will ever be.
Co-op RPG? Phht!
I’m a fan of minis, harkening back to my GW1 days. And it’s really cool when battling Teq in a TTS-staged overflow seeing and hearing dozens of mini Teqs flying and roaring around the Zerg.
I’ve typically gravitated to Tanks and healers over pure dps…
In GW2 the closest fit is Guardian.
“The addition of the final pieces of Ascended gear: Ascended armor.”
If we’ve learned anything it’s that anything they say can no longer be trusted.
Scarlet is actually Traherne’s evil crossdressing alter ego. It all makes sense.
ROTFLMAO
For those very few collectibles that I want more than 250 of I’ll find space in a bank, vault or toon. No need to spend gems for this. Thanks but no thanks.
