To BWE or not to BWE, yeah I think it’s more than enough for me I wanna start this closet size of a game already. Come on Anet get a move on and stop going to these shows. I have no interest in reading about the first anniversary of the announcement, and still BWE stuck in this temporal limbo. Stop telling us to BWE patient.
1-Its great that fractals and the living story are getting so much love. You can get legendary precursors from both segments.
2-What about WvW? We get one new map?
3-What about all the people that just do WvW?
4-How is a person that just plays WvW to obtain such love?
5-And yes there are a large percentage of us that just play WvW.
1- They’re paying $50.00.
2- Yeah and it’s all free.
3- They can play for free too.
4- By playing more than one game.
5- All pvp type players should have realised by now that MMO’s are mostly PVE oriented, Anet didn’t charge you because it’s all they got for now and because they waited too long to start an expansion. If it wasn’t for whiners GW 2 would still be only living story oriented and you wouldn’t have a new map.
We might have only 2 maps more than you but we’re paying. Maybe the next expansion will have more than one map for you. Until then there’s always other games and making posts to be heard.
You do know that you have up to a year if not longer to accept the upgrade? I would highly recommend you ensure you will like the Windows 10 environment before you make the switch. Everything I have seen thus far looks like a trimmed down Windows 8 and outside of a Tablet, that op sys is trash.
Don’t just hop on the upgrade wagon because it comes with a higher DX version. It won’t matter with any current games that are out now anyway.

Found it the official answer is no and I have 1 year to make up my mind about windows 10 for free.

They did say they laid the foundation so that other ewxpansions will be easier to make

I refer to her as my Sylvari Borg lol. If it’s too far in the story already I would make my Revenant turn either way my Revenant will turn at the very least.

It’s a bit late for this week-end but the first week-end of August is a safe bet.
Wow you are very optimistic about the release date. It is pretty much standard to give the release date out 3-4 months ahead of launch minimum, sometimes as much as 6 months.
We are missing almost all the zones, 5 specializations, masteries, legendary weapons, balance, WvW changes, we haven’t seen a single new weapon/ armor set yet, and there will almost certainly be 1-2 weeks of open beta.
I’d say release is going to be around January, at the earliest. Which is why there haven’t been many beta events, they don’t have any of the content ready to show us yet.
Well it seems to me that the Dev in the video doesn’t agree with you he clearly states the release to be this summer.
What you guy call a Beta with the Revenant on a regular map no less, I don’t.

When was the last Beta? Seems like over a month ago. Stress test don’t count.
Chances are the game won’t be for another month, perhaps not even in time for the 3rd anniversary, more like the 20th of September considering Tempest is only the 4th
and there’s 5 to go.
Doing a Beta on the 25th for the whole week-end would calm the player base down a bit me included.

Might be announced around August 8th at Cologne but I wouldn’t hold my breath, Anet are not the types to hurry things along or keep you informed for that matter.
They can’t tell you when they’ll know the date, because as soon as they know the date they’ll tell us.
It’s a bit like asking a woman who is trying to get pregnant to tell you when she’ll know her due date. (Analogy not great, I know, and I’m not saying ANet is trying to start an expansion .. it’s just all I could think of in terms of projected dates).
Revenant is now delayed because of the addition of the weapon swap means they’re having to invent new underwater weapon skills (as well as finish implementing what they were already working on with the original single weapon they were going to have for underwater).
Why should they make underwater skills for it they don’t even remember how to make lakes, rivers and oceans anymore.

Question for sir Colin will the PvE maps be the expansion maps or the orgional tyrian maps.
I’m not Colin… but… there wont’ be expansion maps in this test, you will be able to venture out in the existing maps anywhere you can currently go with your characters. =)
Pros ~ Never tried beta yet so this news was like yeah ok cool.
Cons ~ However considering no progress is to be saved.
Cons ~ No hot maps can be explored.
Result ~ No amount of time no matter how insgnificant is worth my attention.
~ The staff and other players can waste their time on this I won’t.

As it is now, it feels like they are “forcing” me to buy it right now. I’m playing GW2 since launch and I haven’t yet make my mind about HoT.
I’m the kind of guy who’d rather wait some actual infos about what I’m buying than blindly throw out money.
But if that means I’m missing out on a rightfully due character slot…
It’s even worse than you think if you don’t buy HOT you’ll also not get to play as a revenant and you won’t get to play the living story anymore. I mean think about it you could get to play a whole 20 minutes more every 2 weeks, well except everytime they take a break.

For a Revenent I thought it was pretty ok.
I have no clue what’s going on but I can tell you this much Anet I got a 3 year old 3K
machine and it never crashes out of games. Since the update yesterday it PC crashed from LA 7-10 time, desktop crashed just about as often and hame froze 3-4 times.
This is getting frustration no to say annoying so far I have repaired the EXE once but to no avail. please do something before I destroy LA a 3rd time.

My only fear is that this so called HOT game is only the living story 3 disguised as anexpansion and shoved down our trought at the same price as a full expansion.
Barely worth $30.
I know now it has a character slot but I don’t need one and I don’t consider Guild Halls a s maps. They are only digital stuff I don’t need.
If you have some modicum of intelligence you can figure out the max map area that will be in HoT just by looking at the current world map. It would range from Silverwastes/Dry Top/Rata Sum in the East to the Unending Ocean in the west with the Northern border the Maguuma Wastes and the Southern area can include the Tarnished Coast or that could be the border.
If that’s what you think Einstein then you’re in for a sore surprise. There’s a rumor of very few maps x 3 biomes. It’s not called living story 3 but it should and you guys are gonna think it is, that’s how small it’s gonna be. Either way Anet can hide all it wants but if I have to wait until 2 weeks in then that’s what I’ll do but I’ll not blindly buy this Anet is being too evasive on this topic and I don’t trust them anymore cecrecy is their game now and the only way to win is not to become bait like most of you have.

One thing still has been left out and is being kept secret and that is the amount of maps. Anet I’m a VET but not a blind customer.
I have never since GW 1 bought a game without knowing in advance the amount of maps.
So please Anet would you please stop playing cat and mouse and tell us, stop avoiding the question. No map quantity = no purchase period.
I often joke about these 3 maps x 3 biomes which would be about = to 4 and a half GW 2 maps, I also refer to it as a pay to play living story 3. What scares me the most is that I may be right. I guess we’ll find out by August 28th or so.
Either way that counts me out until the price is lower than $30.
Maybe it’s all a matter of a degraded trust between us, the playerbase and ANet over the last couple years.
The community once again absolutely boiled over in toxic hate and rage, due solely, in my opinion, to a further eroding trust between silent devs and a playerbase that was tired of being kept in the dark.
If you look at the history between ANet and us, the players, the trust has been eroding for quite some time. I think this may finally have been the straw that broke the camels back….
I hate to see our community the way it is, but ANet’s silence doesn’t help anything either. The longer they prolong a response to very valid anger and rage, the harder it will be to build that trust again with the devs.
I really hope that trust can be restored, cause that is what will keep this game successful and profitable.
Some people say silence is golden, well Anet has been silent sice the release of GW 2 for the most part, trust is earned right it’s all completely gone in my case.

He probably read about the fact that every zone will have 3 biomes (canopy, floor, roots). As far as I know the total amount of different zones is currently unknown. Only the Verdant Brink has been revealed so far.

I watched the twitch and I liked Guild Halls, plus what they’ve shown is fine for me, so yeah I pre-purchased and I will participate in the betas now. My friends are quickly pre-purchasing too after what they’ve seen for Guild Halls. Get over it.

Why do you think Anet has avoided the question so far? They know you won’t buy it if they tell you, they hope to catch a lot of fish. Remember fishing has been dicussed for the game, well the devs have started and some of you have already been canned.
If OP was talking about unlimited gathering tools, Inventory bags slots, or anything else other than what is clearly marked as included with the Deluxe/Ultimate editions, I have no idea what he is on about, then.

So they paid extra for the extra irrelevant digital junk.
And get this every edition gets a wopping yumongus 3 explorable zones to explore x 3 layers that’s a total of 9 layers. With the first map I have also concluded that at most a full HOT map is equal to 150% of a Guild Wars 2 map so the HOT map surface is equal to 4 and a half maps. Now isn’t that worth a full $30? I think so. Go ahead and enjoy it for the full 1 month it will last you at $50, $75 or $100 smackaroons.
Please don’t remind me what else is in the expansion because those things will not keep you logged in once it’s all been done and explored.
A friend of mine did pay $100 and he even knew it was only 3 zones he told me so himself, I hope he has a lot of fun with it, I’m out not of the game I love it but I am out until it drops below $30 because it isn’t worth a penny more to me.
Think of it this way HOT is not $50 it’s only $16.66 for each of the as many as 3 new explorable zones included in this ripp-off also known as Living Story 3.
So what IS the value of HoT? HOT= Living Story 3= Only 3 explorable zones each being sold to you for $16.66 each deal with the ripp off and enjoy. I can’t wait to see pleople’s reactions when they realize that it is that small and it’s over in a month at most. This afternoon me and a friend are gonna do research to find the article that says it is only 3 zones. As it is I’ve already quit over this and won’t be buying unless it’s bigger say 10 zones.
Also, has it been officially announced that Verdant Brink HAS 3 biomes, some maps will, sure, but all of them? And there is no confirmation that the other 2 biomes will be the same size as the level we’ve been shown. Maybe there will be a couple points where we can traverse the treetops in the top most bioime, and maybe there will be some alcoves where we can traverse the bottom most biome, but there has been no confirmation on the size of the other biomes.
To assume they are going to have the same amount of explorable areas in all 3 biomes is a rather unintelligent assumption until it is 100% confirmed. But due to the silence on actual size of maps or biomes, I’d say be worried.
3 biomes yes but don’t froget I do mention wasted spaces such as flight area as well.

I feel like the reason they are not telling us how many maps are in the game is because if they revealed that to us, a lot less people would pre-purchase HoT. They know how to play the cards as long as it gets them revenue, even if that means deceiving the playerbase…

Not that I wish to be defending Anet atm, but I do recall something pointing out that means we will have 3 maps (at first, which is really more like the size of 9 maps). They will continue to add free maps for HoT buyers (just like they did with Gw2), so I suspect by the time expansion #2 rolls out we will have received at least 15 maps (including the 39 that they promised already). But that’s just speculation.
You might want to go back and compare the surface area of the first HOT map, it’s more like one third the surface of a GW 2 map so you might as well conclude that it’s closer to one and a half of a GW 2 map. I’m not even considering all the wasted space in between the playing surfaces.
So your 9 maps equivalent is way over evaluated, more like half that so go ahead and pay 50 as for the added maps added in 3 years I won’t even go there.
Do you look at the number of the maps or the number of the contents in those maps when you make your decision?
A triple decker map is no bigger than one and a half full GW 2 map so you night as well say that 3 HOT maps is 4 and a half GW 2 map. Which to me is barely worth 20 bucks.
Answer me this why is it that some other game’s expansion mention how many explorable region they get before purchase And Anet does not?
What is it that scares Anet so much by coming forward and telling it like it is.
In time we will find the truth about how big it is, so far Collin has always evaded the question, and yes it’s been asked on a few occasion.
Could it be that they are afraid sales will drop if players find out how small the content truly is?

For me at this price my minimum map content is 10.
