A lot of the nice storys come from NPC’s talking to other NPC’s, Just sit around and listen. As lordkrall said above is probably the best way to do it. Also some of the personal stories give information about the lore, but you would need to do all the races to get a complete picture of it.

Yeah I try to do that as much as possible. I run around with Hammer and Altruistic Healing which makes for some fun times.
Is that a Cleric’s Hammer? The one that looks like an anchor?
A majority of these guys didn’t even fight back.
2 pieces Cleric’s is fine (ammy and 1 ring). 4 or 5 soldiers with Ruby Orbs and a peppering of Valk’s is optimal. I use this kind of build and it’s great. Grab a food buff, roll heal for 800-900, survive and punish.
1v1 it’s terrible though. I really don’t like Guardian for roaming if you’re just out looking for a fight to grab footage for a pvp video.

What I’m saying is, you can have all the toughness and armor in the world, and the straight up DPS builds (which every one does) still melt you.
GRANTED, I can jump into a zerg and live longer than any one else on the field, but what good does that do in the end? lol
Put it this way. You have the same health as an ele and a thief, and they have weaker armor. Is that fair? lol
They usually just build straight up dmg zerker to see big numbers. In my opinion, toughness needs reworked because getting hit for 9500 by an auto-attack (thief) with 1800 toughness is not balanced.The damage an ele can pump into you before you even get to them is ridiculous. It doesn’t matter if you have 17k hp or 14.3 with 1800-1900 toughness. You’re still getting sauced.
In order to close those gaps, you need to sacrifice other stats/weapons/gear/runes that are far too important.
Gosh. How did I oversee that? Usually at the bottom of the tooltip it will say “Breaks Stun”. Guess I was just looking for that.
Doesn’t say so in the tooltip. The other skills that do break stun at least say so at the bottom. I thought it just gave you stability from any CC thereafter. Man. If that’s true, I feel like a kitten .
Why doesn’t Stand Your Ground break stun? It seems illogical that it doesn’t. It certainly isn’t overpowered if it were to break stun. Just doesn’t make much sense to me.
So 1 piece of Soldier’s (legs) then? Berserker’s Hammer (Which I have) and just go with Cleric’s Ammy and ring and a Valk’s chest. Hm. Isn’t this screwing me over with Toughness, which as I understand it, is a Guardian’s #1 stat? If I replace the 2 Cleric’s pieces with Valk’s (as I get more soldier), I drop down to 1641 toughness. That feels low. If I put a Berserker Hammer on, I drop to 1462. That’s really bad, no?

I’m not even quite sure.
I’m using 2 Draconic Cleric’s and 4 Soldier’s. Divinity Runes are out of their mind expensive right now so I’m not touching those as I need gold for my legendary. I just went with Rune of the Soldier x5 and 2 Ruby Orbs. PVT hammers are almost non-existent on the TP so I opted with 1 Berserker, 1 Knight’s (I love it) and 1 Cleric’s (I’m unkillable but less powerful). Currently, I’m running Zerker Amulet (which I switch out for Cleric’s every so often), Zerker accessories, and a Cleric’s Ring and Valk ring (which I switch in and out often as well).
I can get the 1k heal per roll if I put on 1 Cleric’s ring and a Cleric’s Amulet…but I dip into the lower 2900s in Power.
What I want is a decent amount of Power whilst not having to worry about a 9500 backstab.
This is what my stats look like with 4 piece soldier’s and 2 piece Cleric’s. 2 Ruby Orbs and 5 Soldier’s. I went Soldier’s because they were cheap and figured being a tank isn’t necessarily bad. I’m also wearing Berserker back, accessories and amulet. 1 cleric’s ring and 1 Valk ring. Knight’s hammer.

Now, if I switch in 2 knight’s rings, I don’t lose a ton in terms of attack, but I DO gain a a metric crapton in Toughness (obviously). I just feel like 2933 attack is too low.
I don’t know, man. Any help would be great. I could even make it worth your while. I don’t do terribly in Wv3. I hold my own. Hell, I even make it look good in 1v1 or 2 or 3v1.
I have all kinds of gear that I switch in and out. What I guess I’m looking for is a decent attack with solid survivability and healing. I can get up to 675 healing power with cleric’s ring/ammy on.

@akamon: Pretty sure it’s the Divinity Runes. If I go ALL Ruby Orb, I’m gimping toughness and I think it’s just too good of a stat.
I don’t know what’s up but I can’t get my stats to match yours at all. I’ve tried and tried and tried. No clue what’s going on but I’m frustrated as hell haha.
Edit: I’m pretty sure something is wrong here because I followed one build down to a T and came up with completely different stats.

You’re being overly dramatic. I’m not saying that skipping is necessarily bad. I’m saying that skipping EVERYTHING PVE in a PVE dungeon is bad.

Bosses labeled as “Bonus Event” can be skipped. It’s a bonus. Entire mobs in entire dungeons, however, shouldn’t be.
I’ve seen groups try the “quick” route by skipping 3 mobs and end up making it longer.
There’s no need to label a run as a speed run on gw2lfg as they are ALL speed runs without having to say so. And they’re speed runs because 1) people can’t be bothered to PVE in a PVE dungeon and 2) the dungeon design is such that allows for it.

Yes those are the ones i use and as i said i also mix in cleric rings, amulet and on occasion a cleric hammer/staff. Imo that is the most healing you ever need in i wvw or dungeons. Adding more is gimping your dps to much but that is an opinion, not a fact.If its support you want i find boon duration to be much more powerful, especially with a hammer as main weapon.
Well, being able to mix in all those rings and match up gear will take awhile as I’m saving for Legendary. Divinity Runes are expensive enough. That being said, I have run Asc Cata until I’m blue in the face and have enough for Soldier’s.

I like the idea of solo dungeons.
Ah another “People should play the way I want them to play” post complaining about skipping trash mobs. Never gets old.
The same could be said for people that are forcing others to skip content. I paid my money, I’d like to get something out of dungeons other than running. If I wanted to run, I’d go outside.
They fill dungeons with baddies so that we can kill them, not run around and cheese.
Revamp dungeons making skipping entire paths impossible. As they are right now, they’re nothing but gauntlets with a party of whiners if you dare stop to kill something. Imagine that! I killed something in a dungeon! For shame!
Can I see something from ANET that states that skipping mobs in every single path in every single dungeon in the game is OK?
Because stun-locking a boss is no fun?
Either is cheesing it, but every one does that.
Paths 1 and 3 are laughable. They need buffed. Actually, all dungeons need buffs imo. But P2 is a heck of a rough time.
I love the people that have a laundry list of requirements for you in order to join their group:
All exotics
Max lvl on a low lvl dungeon
Ascended gear
The correct build
Then they just cheese run the thing anyway. You don’t need experience or ascended gear to literally swiftness through an entire dungeon then exploit a boss.
Why should it be closed? I asked a legitimate question. Move on if you don’t like it. Move on. Move on. Move on. That’s it. That’s is the answer.
Taking your advice yields nothing, though. And you know it. EVERY GROUP cheeses. Every. Single. Group. And if you DON’T cheese, people bail because they can’t be bothered to kill those 2 mobs because it takes too long.
This issue is pandemic. “From time to time” isn’t good enough. It’s a PVE. It’s a dungeon. It should be every time.

I’m getting pretty tired of cheesing in all these dungeons. I’ve seen groups put themselves through heck and back just to skip 3 pathetic mobs. I’ve seen cheese that people swear up and down is faster, but ends up just making the run an unorganized mess. There’s seriously an exploit in every single dungeon path in this game. Then you have those paths that people stray away from because it’s not fast enough.
This is the ADD addled MMO gamer of 2013 that wants big reward for little work, and its attitudes like this that chip away at the overall fun of a game slowly by turning challenging dungeons into nothing but mathematics.
I don’t mind farming runs, but you shouldn’t be able to just cheese through everything and exploit. And they ARE exploits for the most part. This will make a lot of people upset and I’m fully aware of the hate I’m going to get, but I like to work for what I want. I log in to kill stuff, not hit swiftness buttons and hoping for the best.
Is this working as intended, ANET? Are we supposed to just cheese through dungeons high on adderall?
Feels like spawn timers on instigators was increased along with chests. As in…I haven’t gotten one since I logged back in after a 3 hour break.

Can you clarify here? When you say "Amulet (Berserker and Cleric) are you saying we should get 1 of each of those? That’s a lot of laurels, etc.

Listen, this is easy. Stealth mechanics in games like these are oftentimes completely overpowered. Thief is very little risk with a ton of reward. The only time you really drop a thief is when they accidentally hit their stealth too late. Big whoop. The reality is, the thief class is ezmode and require little to no strategy or thought. You hit thief buttons and you’ve won somehow.
I got backstabbed for 9510 the other day. GW2 is fairly balanced and I’m not one to gripe about overpowered classes in games, but this is a little much.

It’s obvious there’s a problem when the easiest of the ezmode farming routes is so overrun with groups wanting a specific kind of warrior and a mesmer and nothing else. I enjoy the fast cash as much as any one but, some of these loopholes need fixed.
It’s totally possible to keep CoF farmable and a quick run WHILE fixing the blatantly obvious holes that make it almost exclusionary.
