Why do whiners care about score? I don’t get it, if you enjoy WvW then you don’t stop playing it because of some silly score, you stop playing it because there is no enemy. But obviously there’s plenty of enemy around this time, so why sit back and cry like a kid? Get out there and do your best, the score means nothing.
Thank you for being the only person in this entire thread to make sense. This is apparently lost on everyone else, yet they continue to cry about it.
Fighting a bunch of bad zergy gang bangers from FR. This is not an elite video.
Next video will be me and my mate ambushing them as they go back to the zerg from spawn
NOTE: I popped thieves guild because I expected more from the necromancer, but he turned out rubbish and it was a waste
All wearing 3 orbs buff. The guardian showed up with a thief so I had to bail as thats not I fight I cant win unless I catch the thief off guard
Such stronk Unload spam. Why did you encode your video with black bars?

Simply look at the performance of Thieves compared to Elementalist. Tournament games are “they have an Elementalist, one point in our favour” or “they have two thieves, GG”.
Your post is a whole lot of “rabble rabble”, but that bit above is probably the worst.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Tried a bit of 20Air/20Water/30Arcana with V and III despite only having 2 Cantrips. The extra damage from 20 Air is definitely noticeable when I’m going through the standard attunement rotations, but I think I’ll end up missing Armor of Earth a lot too. Hard to decide what I like the most yet, didn’t have many hard fights since the respec.
Need to fight this Riverside Guardian who destroyed me before the respec again, see if it makes any difference.
Seems like people on the Elementalist forum here are more interested in complaining about how underpowered we are as opposed to discussing efficient builds and sharing strategy to do well. A shame.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Wow. That’s a very insightful post to make, mr. Chipz – thanks for sharing.
I killed 4 80’s in WvW, that must mean Ele is overpowered.

Yeah, the transmute window isn’t perfect.
I guess I will eventually get the Invader Leggings, but right now I just have a Valkyrie-Divinity piece there to go with my 5/6 Dolyak Karma set.
It’s a little bit silly that the Heavy set is also 5/6, but their missing piece is a helmet – this actually gives them more Pow/Tough/Vit overall because the Leggings provide more to your overall stats.
No biggie, just a slight pet peeve of mine.

They need to fix windborne dagger. It is one of the strongest traits that the elementalist has, yet it is not functioning atm.
What? One of the strongest traits? What exactly makes you think that?
You can never get above Swiftness speed. You can perma-stack Swiftness with Staff, Zephyr’s Boon (D/D) or a variety of other builds.
The trait is worthless in its current and “fixed” form.
Use Swiftness. Don’t use passive bonuses, they are terrible.

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of solo WvW while Seafarer’s Rest has been rising in the ranks. Most of it has been pretty unworthy of video capture (kill someone, RtL away from zerg, you know the drill), but once in a while I get some fun fights (versus people with zero skill, yes)
Now, the build I’ve been running so far was this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQJArYhImkblx5gjEAEFmcSoABjChUeMDO2A;TgAKbM2IsxWjzGpNjCmiA
Gear was generally a lot of Power/Tough/Vit (5 karma pieces, 3 pieces of WvW jewelry) with a few pieces of Cleric’s / Valk / Berserker / Knight to fill out the slots. It’s your normal tanky Elementalist that relies heavily on attunement swapping to stay alive and deal decent damage. My crit % is laughably low, but I have very high Power from pre-stacking Bloodlust and getting high Might stacks from Combos (+ Battle Sigil).
What I’ve been thinking about instead, mostly inspired from Phantaram’s ( http://www.twitch.tv/phantaram ) excellent S/D build, was mixing it up a bit to run 20 Air/20 Water/30 Arcana. The reason that build is so strong offensively is the fact that Air for Scepter is just really powerful. If you’re popping Air 2, 3 and 4 every time you attune to Air (which also does an instant nuke) with the 10% damage trait, you are heavily increasing your overall damage. This leaves 2 issues, though:
1) I lose the Armor of Earth from Earth 10, which is a pretty huge part of survivability.
2) The Cantrip Regen + Vigor trait is amazing, but it’s hard to justify when you only have 2 Cantrips as opposed to 3. When AoE procced at 50% it was extremely beneficial for surviving as it also gave me additional dodge rolls (more offensive power from Evasive Arcana) and stacked more Regen (which ticks decently with some Cleric’s gear).
This is Phantaram’s S/D build which is what got me thinking, but I would run it with Lightning Flash as I find it invaluable for WvW roaming + landing Churning Earth on huge zergs for giggles (and I’d obviously have Arcane Shielding + Evasive Arcana): http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fEIQJArYhImOblR5gjDAEFmoiQRFOUeMTM1A;ToAA0CnoqxUjoGbNuak1MsYSA
Any thoughts on what you would do? Should I just completely bypass the Regen/Vigor trait and pick up Stop, Drop and Roll as he did? Or run Regen/Vigor with only 2 Cantrips?
Or should I just go the more survivable route and stick with my old build?
I’ll be playing around a bit with some variations of this build today, but figured I’d ask here if anyone had any good ideas.

There’s already a thread:

Sigh.

MoS continues to amaze me:
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
ArenaNet should take more balance suggestions from people who have played a class to level 28.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
The thread has been up for ~6 hours and there’s already tears about night-capping? Please. That discussion will never go anywhere and is better left for threads designated to discuss it as opposed to matchup threads.
A bit of old-fashioned trash talk is much more fun: Are there any good players in Millenium Old School? The ones I’ve killed so far haven’t really posed any challenge.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Artificer is not hard to level, just avoid making Staffs etc.! http://www.guildwars2crafting.net/crafting-leveling-guides/gw2-artificer-leveling-guide-1-400/ + other sites have some decent tips for it. And while the mats for them are a bit more expensive now, it’s still a fairly cheap craft to max out.
As for me, I went Tailoring + Jewelcrafting.

Bountiful Power and Bolt To The Heart one element only traits?

Why would they not work across all attunements when they say nothing to the contrary?
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Lightning Flash is pretty good now – what they should do is remove the damage component and reduce the cooldown to match that of the Mesmer Blink.
The damage is pitiful right now and I would much rather have the reduced cooldown like the Mesmer one.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
For WvW I use:
A S/D set with double Bloodlust to stack it up quickly.
My primary S/D set with Force (5% Damage) and Battle (3x Might on Swap)
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
How do you deal with conditions without the cleansing fire? I consider it as a must utility since swapping to water removes only one condition.
Personally, running a similar build kitten D, I don’t really find conditions scary at all. You should be attuning to Water nearly every 10s and you have Cleansing Wave on top of that.
If you find that you are having issues versus condition specs then you can drop 10 points from Earth and grab the condition removal trait from Water without giving up too much. It does lower your offensive output a decent bit, but the condition removal trait is also really strong.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
You should really try to at least have your footage in 720p. It’s pretty bad quality right now.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
So you just want to create an additional grind on top of the current one that is plagued by many of the same issues as the old system?
No thanks.

Broken link …
The link is fine. Copy-paste it because ArenaNet is silly.
Some variation of this:
http://www.intothemists.com/calc/?build=-kZ;3R0-V015sM-Z0;9;69TT;42;028A45AU;5nBnBnBnB9cS
Toughness, aoe healing, aoe condition removal, self-combo’ing, with multiple ways of gaining Protection and/or escaping a bad situation.
Did you seriously just take Vigor on Crit over Blasting Staff in a Staff build?
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
What’s the score for this matchup? Would like to know who we will face next.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
It’s amazing what people on this forum can come up with.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
I’m built tanky, it’s the best way to handle 1vX fights IMO. So, I’ve got a lot of Power/Tough/Vit gear (the 5 Karma pieces + some WvW Jewelry). I use the 5/6 Dolyak Rune set with a Divinity Rune in my last piece – Crest of the Soldier (Pow/Tough/Vit) might be a decent choice too. Full Divinity would be good too.
Here’s the build: http://www.gw2build.com/builds/simulator.php#1.1.2.0.13.0.5.0.34.0.2.9.21.10.24.0.0.0.6.0.0.0.0.0.33.0.0.50.48.0.65.64.71.10.0.10.20.30
It’s the standard build only I popped 10 in Fire for the added damage instead of having Condi removal on Regen applied. I feel that the 30 Water build has way more Condi removal than I need.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
The rumors of our “underpoweredness” and demise are greatly exaggerated. I enjoy my Elementalist.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Zane, I’ve played a good bit of D/D too and it’s great fun – was wondering why you would only have 5 pts in Air and not grab Zephyr’s Boon, though? Fury and Swiftness on demand with 2 Auras (3 if you include the Ring of Fire -> Earth Grab combo for Fire Shield). It’s really powerful as D/D, especially with the way your gear is set up (ie. high Crit Dmg).
It’s also much better to rely on actual Swiftness (33%) vs just the 10% passive bonus when roaming around.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
GankSinatra, don’t assume everyone has 15 in Air. Especially since some of our most viable builds are very defensive in nature and focused on Water/Arcane.
So no, attuning to Air does not always do an instant Lightning Strike.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Nope.
An Error Prevented Saving:
Message Body length must at least be 15.

When will some of the issues facing WvW be addressed: exploits, cheats....
in WvW
Posted by: Intigo.1653
Hopefully some of the changes in the near pipeline will also include UI updates, Mike. Those were pretty commonly asked for in the initial WvW thread you posted.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Automatically picking up bags would be awesome, but I don’t see it happening. It’s a bit silly this way, though.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
My current stats: 3492 kills (just started actively doing WvW a week ago, almost all of my kills are at 80), 663 badges. I lose a fair amount of loot bags from running around since we play in a group of ~20 and it’s always quite hectic / we’re on the move a lot.
Me: 3492 / 663 = ~5.3 kills for each badge
You: 391 / 17 = 23 kills for each badge
Seems like Badges may drop a lot less when you’re lower level unless you’ve ignored a lot of loot bags.
Anyone else want to share their stats? Just out of curiosity.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
I really think all D/D builds should have Zephyr’s Boon. The Fury & Swiftness you get from the Aura usage is amazing, both for mobility and general damage.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Make it an option. Allow us to decide these things. Options are good, we like options.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
One with Air? That’s an odd choice.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
It was a good movie, people are ripping into it pretty hard because of your attitude primarily.
What kinda gear are you running with that build?
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
This is a great suggestion.

This is mine at the moment

D/D without Zephyr’s Boon? Whyyy?
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
No. That is just plain silly.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Is there any chance of this being implemented?
It would help a lot for servers to organize various events and build their community. Specific server forums on guildwars2.com will automatically have far more exposure than any fan-created server community simply from being on the official website.
Something worth considering, but I can understand if you want to keep the forum somewhat confined while you are still making sure you have enough staff to support it all.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Huge difference, good job! The text was a bit hard to read at times, but otherwise it had good stuff for new Eles.
As for the text, try to keep it informative and not ranting. :p RtL is buggy as hell, but it gives the video a more proper feel if you make sure the text looks good, is well-written and you don’t start swearing and using silly online terms.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Black bars and metal music?
Honestly, your movie probably has decent tips, but it would do so much better if you presented it properly. Take 5-10 minutes to learn how to encode your movie so you end up with crisp 720p/1080p quality then re-upload it.
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
I am having amazing fun running around solo in WvW with a bursty D/D. Insane mobility and hilarious burst, Mist Form stomps erryday.
Elementalists do have issues and I’m sure a Thief would do much better at the kind of solo WvW stuff I do, but it’s not really an issue to me. I enjoy the class as a whole and I’m sure ArenaNet will eventually come around to bring the various classes in line.
Very straight-forward build (copy-paste): http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fEAQJAoYhImkblRygjDAhHEwQCiCPUeMDO1A;TIADKmFA
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
I have tons of fun playing a D/D Elementalist solo in WvW. It has some of the best mobility in the game (perhaps only surpassed by the Thief) and very high burst when your RtL -> Updraft combo lands.
Pretty simple (copy-paste): http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fEAQJAoYhImkblRygjDAhHEwQCiCPUeMDO1A;TIADKmFA
Zephyr’s Boon obviously allows you to have 100%+ Swiftness and also gives a great damage boost in fights through Fury from Auras.
Random footage I shot in 5 minutes yesterday without any sound, just to give you an idea of how awesome Mist Form stomps and RtL is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSdRcHm8Fzk

Burning Retreat seems a bit odd in regards to combos. I’ve had combos trigger all along the line, but also had many fail when I thought they would definitely hit.

Excellent video, Slic. I love the P/D setup, Dagger #5 is such a good skill to get Sneak Attack rolling. You use it very well.
Hope to see more stuff coming!
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
Are you really using a 5% damage Sigil in your Staff Support spec? Seems a bit silly.
Otherwise pretty decent builds!
http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2
I understand the limitations in place, Mike, which is why I think you should focus on getting a few fairly simple things put in place while you focus on increasing the WvW cap and whatever else is on your plate to reduce queue times
What I would suggest is that you allow us access to a bit more information through the WvW interface. This also serves to make sure people don’t feel like they are “in the dark” when queuing for WvW.
This includes:
- An estimated timer and current position in the queue (You are 503 out of 975, ETA: 45m).
- A way to see the maps and current queues for all WvW maps through the WvW interface (B). It should be possible for us to see the status of the current maps so we have a better idea of where help is needed (instead of needing to ask someone in WvW to relay that for us). This part and the above would also serve to spread out the queues a bit as people will primarily queue for the maps with lower queues.
- Fix the queuing bug, obviously, but giving us access to a bit more information would also allow people to more easily notice if they’re bugged (“Why am I still in the same position I was in 30 minutes ago? Maybe my queue is bugged”).
I can see where you are coming from when you ask people to consider moving their guild to another server. You have to understand that people may be hesitant to do that, though, with all the influence and people they leave behind. Perhaps you guys could offer some sort of incentive?
- A way for them to bring over the upgrades they’ve earned on another server?
- An influence boost for guilds transferring?
It’s hard for guilds to convince members to leave behind a server they’ve worked hard on when their upgrades are already pretty high (and they may want to focus on WvW now, which might lead to them earning a bit less guild influence than they did while levelling).
Just a few thoughts.
