Why s/d? Scepter is a bunker weapon — mainhand dagger will outburst and outdamage against any competent player. Scepter sustained damage is horrible as well.
Because the Air burst is far superior. I prefer D/D, but many use S/D for that specific purpose.
If you want a D/D build simply run 0/15/0/25/30 with Valkyrie/Berserker mix.

I really don’t see the point of these stat stack sigils in wvw.
The stack is removed when you get downed, which probably happens quite often.
A 5% damage sigil would be much more reliable.
Unless you are willing to kill 25 pve mobs everytime to charge up the sigils.

For me it’s RG, ZDs, KAZ – EU side at least, all of those guys are good and from what I see play the game in the right spirit – KAZ’s videos are better though.
Though I would have loved to have seen EC (Explicit Content) still together and see how they would have measured up – still my favourite WWW videos to date. Pretty sure they would have been a shoe-in for a top 3 spot. Sadly it won’t happen.

WvW is not about open field battles, it is not about wiping zergs. WvW is about holding locations as long as possible to maintain a high PPT and having the highest score at the end of the week.
Still so much talk about Red Guard, so tell me again how much PPT have they ever contributed to their server? WvW has been and forever will be about the score at the end of the week. This thread being about the most powerful guild in WvW means who actually brings the most PPT at the end of the week to the server they are on.
PRX has a very long track record of taking points and keeping them. EMP as well has a great track record of holding locations against the odds and maintaining a good PPT on their map. SF on JQ, War Machine on Kaineng, RET on FA, TW on SoR, PiNK on TC, FoE on SoS(now BG), and HB on BG. These guilds do what it takes to maintain their server’s holdings and fight for the best possible outcome at the end of the week.
My guild has a thing we like to call “non-value added fights” where if something we are doing will have really no effect on the flow of the map or a negative one then we don’t engage in it or we just give up and move on to a more “value added” location/fight.
WvW is about the PPT when you are online and playing, that is what the game mode revolves around. Trying to put in “non-value added” things like GvG and some open field encounters as important in WvW is just silly.

I dunno what is this story that RG doesn’t cap stuff x).
We take in intrest in fighting with our characters, going deep into lions mouth, deep into enemy lines. What we rarely do tho is trebbing, setting up tens of siege weapons inside lord room to prepare for incomming fight. And open field siege thats a never.This however doesn’t mean we’d never cap stuff :P because
going deep and finding the action 90% of time means pushing into keeps and towers. And half of the keep takes we do, would be impossible for average siege focused guilds. They just don’t have the pushing force to go through 6+ ACs, few ballistas, couple catapults, keep lord and same amount or more of players defending.There is nothing much different, in actuality, in GvG and keep fights (unless it’s the skill lag type :P). Past 1.5 weeks we fully capped one or 2 zones everyday we played, sooner or later. My point is, “rg dont cap, they just open field fight” is abit wierd :P. Not like we wait south behind the windmill
. Most of the times you have to cap stuff to get action in the first place, that’s how the game works.
For me personally few of the funniest moments are when you got 3 keeps in a zone and you constantly run between 3 of em defending, every outer wall down in garrison. Can’t have that without taking them first. And as a ranged nuker, personal favorite is RG wall bomb-TM, upclose and personal catapults :P.

Confusion is easily dealt with, just need people to run a little support with condition removal, not hard just everyone wants to do LEET DEEPZ.
- Portal even post nerf is still required on the field to be even remotely effective compared to a team without a Mesmer running it.
- Confusion is not “easily dealt with”, there’s a reason it was adjusted in sPvP. This is a very silly statement.

Do you always run in a group? In the case of groups you have the benefit of the entire group’s damage working towards your claim of the kill. This also means that as a soloist, you aren’t competing against other soloists, you are competing with other full grps for a share. It is sketchy but its something thats been known in PvE (farming) for a long time.

Im sure many guilds are eager for this so ill throw some ideas to organise it:
- All on the same day
- Classic “behind south camp” in borderlands. If we are many it can be in different BL and switching but I would love to record it all so I hope we can do only on one BL
- Best of out of 5 clashes
- 20vs20
- Day and hour to be decided, but this week.
- I can make a post here and edit it, with the order of the clashes and the guilds involved. As im sure everyone wants to fight everyone we need to write it down somewhere.
Hope as tomorrow comes we can have some confirmation of the guilds that will like this and when they can attend.

You shouldn’t fight at the same time. The culling will be insane if you gather up so many people (spectators) and it will be a complete mess. Much better to simply let guilds organize it between themselves.
You should also disallow stacking (Bloodlust / Perception) so both sides are on even ground even after one or the other side has won.

The problem with picking 10 in Fire over 25 in Water is that you are losing out on an amazing trait. Start looking at your Boons while you’re PvP’ing – how often do you have more than 4 or 5 up at the same time? A large amount of the time.
A constant 6-12% damage boost is so much more valuable than a flat 10% Fire-only damage boost.
Of course, this is all based on the assumption that the 25 Water trait actually works – which I have yet to test, heh.

While trying to change things up a bit is a good idea, the traits you pick are just weak in general. Cantrip granting Might is a really bad trait and the Glyph cooldown trait is only so useful.
I would run 0/15/0/25/30 with the same utilities instead. That’s really fun and bursty and you still have the excellent 25 Water trait.
Or just run 0/20/0/20/30 with S/D and the +10% Air damage.
Yes, both of these are simply variations on the same theme, but it’s far stronger than your current build, I’m afraid.

You seem to do a good job of using all the skills in your arsenal, keep at it!
One thing to consider is to start using Combos in your gameplay. If you go from Earth into Fire then you can stack Area Might by using Eruption → Lava Font. You could even do that twice if you pick up Arcane Wave (which is one of our best utilities overall) instead of Arcane Power and simply use it every time it’s ready to speed up your killing.
Combos are a good way to set yourself apart from other players and the earlier you get used to using them, the better.

As for Daggers, simply pick them up when you can afford to grab a pair. It’s good to get used to all the weapon combinations available to us!

I don’t know how it’s possible to get as many as some of you have. Say if you play three hours a day and get 30 kills per hour, it’d still take almost 100 days to even get my 7k.

There’s a very, very big difference in the amount of kills you get when you are fully grouped and running a guild raid compared to just running with the random zerg or a smaller group. It is possible to pull in 1000 kills in an evening if the action is very high when running in a guild raid.
There’s also a pretty big difference when it comes to classes. Mesmers have a tougher time tagging as efficiently in our guild raids because they are forced into a support-role somewhat and do not have the same reliable AoE attacks as others do.
Kills / Badges are a very flawed system as people are not rewarded if they play more of a support role. People who sit for 30 minutes Trebbing a Wall get nothing in return whereas the more direct damage people with a high number of AoE attacks get a lot in return.

Hammer isn’t good for tagging? lolwut. My warrior has no problem getting the vast majority of kills in fights.
It’s probably something to do with playstyle. Just because a weapon cleaves, however, it is no comparison to an Ele dropping aoe. I get a lot of kills, but nowhere near the count of ranged dps classes.
How many kills does your hammer warrior have?
Some of our highest numbers are from pure melee classes (Guardian / Warrior).

I would argue that there are no other viable builds PvP/WvW-wise. They are certainly variations, but they are all based around the principle of having high Arcana with the 15+ Water, as you mentioned. Phantaram rolls 20Air/20Water/30Arcana with double Arcane nuke in his bursty S/D setup, which is also pretty good.
You can obviously play 30Air/30Fire + whatever and still do great in PvE or WvW as a very high damage Staff build that stays behind others, but it’s not really “viable” in any situation where you may take damage.

Use the trusted Bloodlust into Force combination. Personally, I’m not a fan of Energy over Battle, but if you wish:
Up to 25 stacks: Bloodlust + Energy
At 25 stacks: Force + Energy
And yes, the game could be a lot clearer, but you should research things like that before you buy them. It’s all been pretty much figured out and there are posts all over the place concerning it.
As for Energy vs Battle, I find Battle is a much better ‘fit’ for me. I already have perma-Vigor from Renewing Stamina and Battle will provide me with a considerable damage boost without me having to micro-manage it. With Energy I would be worried about wasting Endurance Regen because I’d be close to full all the time, whereas the Battle Sigil is more of a passive Boost in combat that you don’t need to worry about at all. It’s awesome free damage which works really well with Boon Duration.
I do see the appeal of swapping attunement and getting an instant dodge roll, but it’s just not for me.

I have 3476 kills. I guess I should stop healing downed allies and only ever run burst specs not support, and only run in groups, changing groups every time someone leaves.
That’s really kitten awful game design though, severely punishing team and positive objective oriented play.
There is a way to fix this, grant retro-actively large numbers of badges for levels in all the different WvW achievements.
This is true. Badges are awarded in a very biased fashion, just as kills are. It’s heavily favored those who actually deal damage as opposed to those who play a more support-based role. It’s something ANet should address, but are unlikely to actually do.
Your kill count for 500 hours is very low though. You should try to join a more WvW-focused guild (since you seem to enjoy it) where you are always grouped. It will allow you to tag (and “deal damage” tagging-wise) far easier.

Personally, before the patch, 10/10 times the game would crash or sound issue would happen whenever a large fight inside SMC lord room took place.
Last night, on opener w/ full queues, my connection was stable the whole time EDIT: 2 Hours defending the lord room from BOTH servers.= IMPROVED
I (and many others) have never had that issue. If they fixed parts of the sound bug and crashing then it’s entirely unrelated to the new culling. Also, there are many people who still get sound & crash bug post-patch.

I have approx 500 hours in WvW nearly all on my level 80 main. I have sub 500 badges earned total to date over all 5 months. I loot all bags that appear, they simply almost never appear no matter how much damage I do.
5 months is a long period of consistent empirical data, comparing to the massive droprate most people enjoy. Is it even possible that certain accounts or classes or characters could be broken for droprate? I know weird things happen with code sometimes but that just sounds so unlikely, but yet I have the personal evidence to support that something is clearly wrong.
Are you grouped up to maximize the amount you tag (and damage you deal tagging-wise)? What’s your total amount of kills?

It’s a complete and utter joke that dueling has not been added yet. An easy step-by-step process that would satisfy anyone:
Step one: Create duel toggle, have it in the party window at the top left. This allows you to toggle whether or not it should be possible for anyone to even challenge you to a duel. When it’s toggled off, no one can even challenge you and as such, they can’t annoy you.
Step two: Add a bog-standard dueling system that allows you to challenge your target to a duel. Have it stop at 1% health as normal so repair & waypoint costs don’t even have to be considered. Allow it to be done in all areas outside cities and perhaps in designed spots in cities (the beach in LA would be a nice duel area, but it would be annoying to have people dueling around the TP / Mystic Forge / Bank area). If that’s too hard then simply block it in all cities and have the community set up dueling areas themselves outside (Bloodtide / Gendarran).
Step three: Watch as all your players rejoice, leading to them playing more often and using more money on the game.
It is honestly extremely disappointing that this has not yet been added to the game. The only reason I can think of that they haven’t done this yet is because they want to milk us when it comes to custom arenas – which is a complete and utterly stupid thing to do, because people will want to duel in their PvE gear too.

What? Holy delusional post. The reset would have hurt the EU WvW scene FAR more than not having one.
How has the lack of a reset done anything to harm Seafarer’s Rest? They have been a top tier server for a long time now and just because they are behind in points right now does not mean anything. They may have lost a pretty big chunk of their force, but the reset would just have put them against much weaker servers.
I am pretty sure most of the good guilds on SFR are enjoying the fact that they have proper opponents as opposed to terrible ones.

The only thing i can do is switch over to the server of the blue playing side. But then Arenanet is smart because now you have to pay a fee to do so.
So i am wundering does Arenanet do this on purpose so they will get more income.
So that means it can be possible that piken will never get to to blue part smart thinking of arenanet then that way there will be no way to get full map completion only by changing server and therefor we have to pay a fee now.
