Who needs reflect when you have swirling winds + fgs + icebow.
Not gonna argue about that
My point is ele does not do everything the ranger does (unlike the previous claim). And we haven’t factored the skill level of this group comp yet to discredit the ranger. Like, I’ve come across some elitist pug that raised eyebrows at the ranger’s reputation while playing ele like crap. Ha!
6/5/0/3/0 is a solid DPS build for ranger. Everything is included in a bigger scheme.

I prefer 44060 on my own because of various reasons:
Wow, that reflect duration x.x! And let’s hope that all those ele stack and reflect in time.
Hey guys, I’ve sent you the invites. Please check. Thanks for your interest.
Ele don’t do reflect :>
GMB = GrandMaster Bearbow.
She does not joke :P
Sorry for abusing the ‘lock down’ term. What I mean is to completely render the target useless since I suspect most of the its attacks are range. But I was wrong. Apparently his Whip is melee.
(edited by Iris Ng.9845)
I tried to dodge it and still receive a 6k damage.
As a person who mains ele and mesmer, I’d say you need both Meteorlogicus and the Minstrel though I’m partial to the latter because of its usefulness (and sigil of Energy).
Question: can we reflect the attacks of the tentacles in the Jade Maw fractal with traited warden?
(edited by Iris Ng.9845)
Your speculation makes sense. When using block, I only blocked a single attack but when I dodged, I took damage twice, with no evade frame.
Probably the same reaction I made the first time Sandy showed me the harpy skip and then, by himself, solo the champion bosses while skillfully evaded the ettin to rez me.
Mini Logan and Mini Anise, please
I’m running both 64040 and 44060 builds in pug. I use Phalanx strength if my pugs all fight in the melee range properly, yet don’t benefit a lot from ele might stacking (lack of ele, or lack of the awareness to blast ele’s fire field). On the other hand, if my pug is a mixed bag, 64040 has both decent damage and EA buff. Then there is the case when you know that you’ll have to solo…

Thank spoj. It’s the first time I ever receive your compliment
Thank you Cotser, thank you Kirin. I’m honored.
Or when you have a timing issue like me and counting 14s is too hard, I just go max range in my pug :s
Credit to Tobi who has told us about the trick <3
Also as a mesmer you can portal everyone to a safe spot for the cannon phase
Where about is this safe spot?
Mesmer have access to block with Sword offhand and with Blade Training, you’re able to block every single shadowstep attack from Mai (but the best is to reflect it with Temporal Curtain / Feedback / Warden, assuming you have Warden’s Feedback, Inspiration VIII)
Would it be better to trait or untrait the focus then, given that the lightning projectile can be blocked by untraited wardens, but the shadowstep can be reflected with temporal curtain and traited warden?
1. It is not a safe spot per se. It requires a bit of jumping puzzle skill to get you to the right height AND the whole group has to take the portal almost at the SAME TIME to bug the cannoneer’s tracking algorithm. Additionally, one should not drop down way before others which will make Horrik and co. target the group almost instantly and it’s very hard to see that coming. I don’t recommend this method for a pug group because it more or less fails if anyone in the group makes mistake, and you risk to restart the fight over. If you’re in an organized group and want to try it out, as soon as you enter the room, go to the far right wall; there is a column under one of the cannoneer, the wall next to it has an invisible ledge that you can jump up to it and hang at mid wall.
2. Wardens die very fast from the aoe of Horrik. Unless you target Horrik with wardens to block his projectile, I feel it’s safer to use traited focus to make use of the curtain to save others’ butt.
For mesmer, use Scepter/Sword and you can be decoy for life. No jokes!
For ele, use Ring of Earth (Dagger MH Earth 2, cast time 3/4 s, cd 6 s) right when she points at you. If you time it right, there are 2 seconds of projectile blocking after the spiky earth animation is raised. Alternatively, conjure earth shield and use skill number 2 Stone Sheath (duration 2 1/4, cd 8s). This skill is similar to any block skill and can be used at last minute as a panic button.
Mai Trin’s Pistol Shot skill has a 14 sec cd.
Worst thing that can happen is Sandy kills you off so he can solo.
With 6 in Air, you’re able to stack Vuln (GM minor trait) and gain a burst with Fresh Air or (make use of) Tempest Defense damage boost, not to mention stat bonus in precision. LH build camping in water using 62240 would deal more damage than 6422, given your group has covered the vuln stacking.
You forget that Sandy can do the entire skip by himself and simply drop you a portal, huh? No one needs a thief when Sandy is there, even for rezzing :p
He told me to go buy a total makeover kit and that’s it! -__-
Thank you, max and Lilith. I’m glad you like it!
Took you advice, and come up with some ideas:
This is my take on Rita Vrataski, the heroine of Edge of Tomorrow. I’m so smitten with the character that I’ve also changed my warrior name to Rita Vrataski!!! Her hairstyle is inspired by the character in the manga version, since I couldn’t find anything better. Hope you enjoy it.
For the training suit:
Chest: Honor of the Wave
Gloves: Chain gauntlet
Pants: Aetherblade
Boots: Chainmail footgear
For the exosuit:
Head: Gemstore
Shoulder: Phalanx
Chest: Sorrow’s Embrace
Gloves: Aetherblade
Pants: Heavy Plated
Shoes: Crucible of Eternity
Backpiece: Advanced Spinal Blade (ascended)
Because I love Emily Blunt, the novella and the movie. Because I have nothing else to do. Because I think it’s bizarre yet beautiful and unique. Because I’m a fangirl… I present you my warrior, now reborn as Rita Vrataski (dupe).
It’s harder to tone down reflect damage based on mobs. Capping is more along the line what Anet would do :s
I normally change to these builds in fractals where sometimes it’s too chaotic to get close to the boss to deal any meaningful damage. As such, phantasms also die fast too. I haven’t thought of any scenarios to get the most out of 24044. Maybe at the Grawl Shaman?
Thank you very much!
So, the DPS is pretty much the same across the two builds if phanstams can last a bit longer and 24053 is better when they get killed fast.
Hmm…
Exo suit would be nice, but anything that evokes her image is fineee…
Keep calm and watch out for her attack.
Cant really use them in a meta dungeon party. They would definitely boil me and hang me on a stake if they found out I’m using those builds :s
Yea he had 1 clone, 1 swordsman, and 1 warden. Compared to 2 swordsmans and 1 duelist that’s right about 20% less dps. Signet was introduced Dec 10th and his video is dated also Dec 10. If instead the signet was used to summon 3 dps phantasms the time should have been 16sec x 0.8 = 12.8sec. Ferocity nerf in April lowered glass mesmer dps by nearly the same amount so kill time probably would have jumped right back to 16 sec.
You’ve made a lot of assumption there to justify the conclusion. I wouldn’t say there is any DPS increase after the feature patch without a solid comparison. Just a question: According to your calculation, what is the dps difference between 24053 and 24044 builds with 3 phantasms surviving (i) longer than 15 seconds and (ii) less than 15 seconds?
You may want to look at this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/ZERK-Meta-Dungeon-Guild-NA-1
I was thinking… maybe one day Anet decides to cap all the reflected damage. Maybe…
@ Iris Ng.9845: Your ref. link is broken. Please be specific about race, gender & affordability / dislikes.
Mesmer is better than Guardian at Tequatl’s fight while Guardian is better at Triple Wurmp
Also, 100% solid proof that mesmers do more dps than everything in gw2… hopefully:
Meh, ele can do better. Fer SHURE! Anyhow, I recalled that healing signet is the only good reason for an increased DPS by increased phantasm ramp up time. But the skill was introduced way before the April 15 patch. In his 16 second record, I think Jerem was using … Wardens? Can’t remember for sure…
Cotser, get the Minstrel for your mesmer!
(edited by Iris Ng.9845)
Today I spent good four hours in fractals 18 and 29 to sample the changes of Mai Trin. Sweet cheesus, it’s like doing 38/49 in a row while trying to educate people how the fight at Mai works, how to use the Mesmer as Decoy and how to run the cannon phase. I’m amazed at how people still think ranging Mai is best for them and not even used half of the skills at their disposal to mitigate the damage. At some point, I’ve just used my Giver’s – Centaur set to survive the cannon phase and get the job done. Anyhow, I plan to do it slowly up to 50 and see if there are any good strats for pug.
Inb4 someone suggests the portal trick, it only works when people know how it works AND pay up some cooperation. I’m a bad jumper, so I don’t want to risk myself in pugs :’(
Like how many times more?
HYPE
Im in miku’s team and we’re looking forward to it! kinda still need another ele but that’ll come >_>
Hire me!!! You only have to pay for my round-trip transfer.
Should have asked Jerem, Max. The way Sandy handles all the projectiles is to let everyone else die, then proceed to solo – the same way you’ve seen in the video.
It’s the main reason I love mesmer and ele equally. I had to work hard to feel content with myself
Edit: which cases?
Hey there,
I would like to make a request for the battle outfit of Rita Vrataski (ref.). I’m smitten with her and looking for an inspiration of not only outfit but also hair style and weapon skins to produce an image as close to her as possible.
For reference, this is how all of my characters (minus necromancer) look currently: http://imgur.com/a/ITOI2. I’m willing to modify either my human warrior or norn necromancer for this project.
Thank you in advance.
Thanks, Neko. Elementalist has a lot of access to soft CC; chill, cripple, immobilization, blind (via Lightning Hammer), vulnerability (stack on crit via traits) and even weakness.
Impressive play and beautiful execution.
Would you choose Sigil of Bloodlust or Forge for sub-level 80 dungeons? Considering both FGS and non-FGS scenario?
