Signet of Why-aren't-you-using-Shelter

in Guardian

Posted by: Iris Ng.9845

Iris Ng.9845

1. Shelter can be interrupted.
2. But a well-timed shelter can block a condi-burst from a condi engi and allow the guard to walk away unscathed.
3. Shelter is indispensable in Arah and fractals. It is your personal block, you can waste it on yourself.
4. I cringed whenever I see a SoR on my pug guard. 99% of the time that guard never uses condi cleanse on the group anyways. 100% of the time he uses aegis selfishly.
5. With the current PvE meta, Shelter has become much more used, even in the Volcanic Fractal now.

My two cents.

@OP: I’m impressed with your experience with the class in both PvP and PvE.

Sigil of strength vs sigil of battle

in Elementalist

Posted by: Iris Ng.9845

Iris Ng.9845

Not really. Might from sigil of strength has a shorter duration. The best number of might stack I can manage is around 9-10 stacks during a fight with a relatively 76% critical chance (no group buff). If you play D/D or S/D with more than 40% reduction in attunement recharge or with Fresh Air , sigil of battle has an advantage. As such, sigil of strength for staff and sigil of battle for dagger or focus.

I’ve seen someone run both strength and battle with staff in WvW but it’s another thing to discuss in another time…

Where did you test it, Zelyhn? Weth has a theory that the damage increase of an ascended weapon is normalized to an exotic one in any sub-80 dungeons. Wonder if this effect gets carried to the damage of conjured weapons as well?

Use sigil of strength for staff because you don’t really swap attunement in PvE anyways. Plus, it syncs well with the multi hit Lava-Font + Meteor and the auto attack.

It doesnt bug them. They simply cant see you. Its like calling LoS an exploit. Or running out of range of a rooted boss to regen your hp.

They do see you. You glitch them by teleporting the whole group at the same time, and by doing so make them lose track of their targets. If one doesn’t get the portal, i.e. only four at the safe spot, they will target that ‘safe spot’ immediately and wreck everyone. If everyone uses portal when the cannon phase has already started, the cannoneers will also be able to target that spot.

I can recommend some “late” time mentors from what I remember.

EU region:

  • haveageez (up to 3-4 am, but like a rare unicorn)
  • Jerem (1 am max)
  • Purple miku (up to 3 am, but only a few times a week)
  • Terissimo (24/7, need students)

NA region

  • colesy (seemingly 24/7)
  • No Pulse (early morning in NA, about 3 am PDT or 6 am EST)

Edit: per request of Terri-chan.

Why Don't Players Use Potions

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Iris Ng.9845

Iris Ng.9845

Nah I wasn’t joking about the mango pies thing. I normally use dragon’s breath buns or truffle steak for everything, but I keep mango pies for things like Tequatl that you can’t crit.

Ever since I’ve started playing an ele a while ago, I’ve learned how god awful everything is by comparison to heal signet and there is no shame in wanting regen. It’s at least relevant, unlike magic find. I suggest candied dragon rolls for everything that you can crit though since they’re better and heal more.

Shame on you, Miku, shame on you! Get the Power+Vitality food or the Endurance one, maybe?

To OP: I have 2 mains and both have a stack of approriate potions for each dungeons. But then, I have 5 other alts. At this point, I don’t bother to prepare lunch boxes for them all, since it’s not everyday they were used for my regular runs. If I pug, I would not even care, unless LFG is advertised for exp’d meta zerker.

@maha: Sandy (and I) disagrees.

6/6/0/0/2 is better only if you don’t plan on summoning phantasms (terribad mes), want to maximize reflects and are not wearing assassins armor (terribad mes, kinda), or have 0 might/fury/vuln (nobody cares about dps in those parties anyways).

Afaik, 6/6/0/0/2 is pretty much [SC]‘s standard requirement for a mesmer trialee to have a clean Lupi kill in their organized runs. Personally, I don’t have the balls to go for such extremity but witnessing how it works proves to me that “terribad mesmer” is just your opinion.

which sigil: force or bloodlust?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Iris Ng.9845

Iris Ng.9845

Aww geez, the forum ate my reply that I attempted to post a couple days ago.

Would you choose Sigil of Bloodlust or Forge for sub-level 80 dungeons? Considering both FGS and non-FGS scenario?

Um… maybe for SE P2 and Aetherpath but that’s about it. AC as well if you can tag all the little spiders at the start, and CoE 2/3 during the laser defense if you’re good at tagging.

You need about 15-20 stacks to equal the effect of a Force sigil. So over the course of a dungeon you’ll need to get above 20 stacks pretty quickly to see the benefit – which is a lot harder to do now that you can’t double stack.

Bloodlust is better for WvW if you have two copies.

Unless theres some exploit to make Mai do nothing that i am unaware of?

There is nothing you can do to bug Mai but you can use Portal and a bit of Jumping skill to glitch all the cannoneers and assure the safety of your whole group throughout the cannon phase. I’m trying not to describe this exploit in details. Hahaha…

Iris Ng.9845

Hey Community,

It’s Iris from the Dungeon Mentor [Noob] initiative. After 5 months of our operation, I want to share with you some statistics.

Currently, we have:

  • A total of 310 Members
  • 46 Mentors and staff
  • 264 Students

For each region, there are:

  • 16 Mentors and 49 Students in EU
  • 26 Mentors and 215 Students in NA

Traffic-wise, every week there are approximately:

  • 12 new invites
  • 6 drop-outs
The interest in joining [Noob] has increased since the Dungeon Tournament

Prestige: We have representatives of many hardcore PvE guilds such as [DnT], [rT], [SC], [Ren], [IX], [ZERK], [DD], [Last] and [KING] to join our rank as mentors. We also serve as a training ground as our graduates have eventually joined these guilds or become new mentors themselves.

The challenge: We are unfortunately understaffed!
This is a community project and mentors are entirely unpaid volunteers. Thus, there is no commitment requirement. Mentors are encouraged to take students whenever they are up to it. All the mentoring session has been on a 1 to 1 basis and some of the more lengthy dungeon such as Arah, TAA or fractals can require up to 3 hours. It will eventually exhaust all of our personnel. The only solution I could think of is to bring in more mentors to lessen the burden of the existing ones. So I plead the community to look at this matter and join hands to keep this initiative going strong.

In short, we need more mentors. Especially for beginners and in Arah. Come one, come all!
