Dubhe will be leaving Guild Wars 2 and as a goodbye he is throwing a one versus one tournament with the assistance of Mistpedia! Dubhe will be providing excellent prizes for this event: all you need to do is place in the top four and you will win a precursor!

1st: Dusk
2nd: The Hunter
3rd: The Bard
4th: Carcharias
This tournament will feature 64 players and spots will be given to the first 64 players to check in on the day of the the event. There are no limitations on prior tournament or 1v1 play, so anyone is welcome to sign up and compete! The duels will be conducted on the Beach area on Forest. Any players that have a rating through Mistpedia ELO will be seeded at the top based on those, and all other seeds will be given randomly.

I can see that most solo players feel awkward with Arch Diviner in the group setting. In fact, it’s pretty neat to FGS this boss to 50 or even 25%.

edit: Elemental isn’t a hard boss. It’s the opportunistic vet elementals which make it extremely punishing and annoying.

Only reason I find archdiviner hard to solo is because of the cultists at 75%, 50% and 25% hp. The boss itself is easy to handle.

I thought it’s the first Arch Diviner? People mentioned him hard in a group setting, which I find strange, because the second is way way easier than, say, Grawl Shaman. The first one is harder because of his 180 degree-turn-leap and smash which requires a careful control with immobilization and freeze.

For solo, do you know which part is even harder than the boss itself? The two hand seals. Hands down the most frustrating part.

@maha: I find it neat because it is almost impossible to FGS bosses like Mossman and Arch Diviner cleanly without a strict coordination between the group members. A solo FGS holder will get wrecked before making a dent to the boss health. An amateur group will take down 25-30% at most before the bosses go to their next condi-spam phase (weakness, hello!) or stealth phase. As a warrior-only player, I bet you don’t know the intricacy behind the scenes. Stay blissful as you are while it lasts.

P.S.: If Dub ever says ‘oh, it’s so easy to FGS everything’ then I believe him. Because he always delivers the proof without deliberately trying to sound awesome. And because he has used FGS before it became cool.

It would mean you have to clear the patrol outside the gate, too! Not saying it’s not doable, but pretty much will be a mess with a couple of wipes at least.

Two typical fractal bosses that mesmer is so much useful there.

Cast Meteor Shower then transform to Tornado and watch your Meteor balls hit for 3 times the normal damage. It wouldn’t be strange to see numbers hovering 12k-13k.

Try to wall them first?

I’ve lost count of how many times I trolled my ele partner in our Arah duo. :p You can still do my preventative measurement to a certain degree of success.

I once picked an lfg asking “What to do with fire field?” and met a really hip speedrun guild. I failed their quiz but apparently passed their expectation while they’re far beyond mine.

P.S. the correct answer to the quiz is “to p— on it”!

Because engineer is worse than mesmer as long as a conjure weapon holder is considered. I’ve seen Lorek playing engineer in Arah, it’s the second coolest thing after his ranger.

Have you ever been thrown on chaos storms each 6 second which ticked for 16-20k hp on your warrior? Even with dodging chaos storms the only way to stay alive is interrupting/blocking or outranging his beams.

If that isn’t a boss, I don’t know any.

I know how OP a level 84 Risen Illusionist can be. But he’s still a silver rank at most. There is another thread dedicated to him. Heck, even the level 84 spider can two shot my ele with just his aa.

I have the feeling it will happen in September.

I would say Dub’s or Zelyhn’s voice is the sexiest EU accent, though. Hit all the right notes. But Colesy’s sense of humor is unsurpassed.

Been playing in both regions. NA pugs are 50 light years more dated than EU pugs. Just to say how bad it is. The worst I’ve seen in EU pugs are they don’t speak English and just promptly kick. The NA pugs preach and preach and preach… and ragequit.

I’m using the Mist weapon set on my little asura mesmer. It’s pretty cute and quite visible on her.

I would vote for Leyline theme if you can farm the ticket. They have an awesome sound effect. Otherwise I would stick to the SAB one.

I wish all rangers were as good as him. He is so OP. Plus, maybe it’s just me but when I was within his melee range, he didn’t summon the birds as frequently. However, dodging his plunge and serpent’s strike in every other attacks is such a pain.

Sanderinoa made me fall in love with the class. If I had never met him, I wouldn’t have played mesmer. Ever. Outside the jumping puzzle.

Mesmer is the class I use to pug Arah and fractals. Despite the low DPS, it’s so much easier to play than ele and has a subtantial amount of group support that enable mesmer to carry a bad group.

Guard is alright, but portal and blink are mesmer’s best part.

Anyhow, Dekeyz, I want to know your input on this Scepter/LH build: 6(V,II,XI)/6(VI,VII,XII)/0/2(IV)/0, water camping. Is it worth comparison to the 6/6/2/0/0 variation?

Additionally, for the staff build, 6/6/0/0/2(V) disperses the ball hits with Meteor Shower way too much (unless I drop it against the wall). Is Blasting Staff there to boost the damage of Lava Font only? I’ve been using this variation 6/6/0/2/0 in the Ascalon fractal. Rotation goes as following: precast Meteor Shower, aggro -> Lava Font -> Static Field -> Water Attunement, Ice bow -> Ice bow #4, #3 -> Fire Attunement, Flame Burst, Lava Font. My rationale is to feel less guilty when swapping out to water for CC and heal yet still does some damage with ice bow. I hope to get some opinions on it.

Staff is for the cool kids only!

Tips to avoid aggro (somewhat):

- Don’t wear ascended armors in a sub-80 level dungeons. Higher armor rating always attracts aggro. That’s how I pass the aggro priority to my fellow thief and guardian o/
- Position yourself behind the boss which can’t be los-stacked to use FGS. If they keep turning to face you, you’re the target. As long as you’re not inside the frontal cone of attack, you’ll avoid most of the auto attack, but get ready to use your damage mitigation against any big hits which might follow up.
- Slow down your burst if you can’t handle the aggro pressure (defensive skills on cd, running out of the endurance), at the cost of the group DPS. But if you’re down, it means your group doesn’t do anything to help you anyways.
- Stay away from the attack range. It is sly, but it works against Lupi. For example, during phase 1, Lupi often does a kick to players in his melee range. It has less than 600 range. Move away from him at 600 range when he looks at you. He won’t be able to initiate the kick and stay idle for 2 seconds. After that he will switch aggro to someone else in range. However if you still stay in that range, you will get his aggro again when he starts the grub attack

Use this link: http://gw2dungeons.net/ Go to a specific encounter and look at the boss/mob attack pattern. Look for the cool down and damage of their big hits. Now imagine that you’d already done the DPS test of the two builds. Taking into account of all the available healing, blocking and dodging, how long you can withstand the big hits until all the resources is running out if your DPS is meh?
