Thank you for putting that Arah’s legging in its right place. It has been bugging me how people dye that skirt white and pretend it lovely, angelic, elegant and such. No! No! No! Don’t they see that creepy humongous EYE placing at the crotch? Or the torn jagged hem of the skirt? It is wicked and belongs to (albeit elegant) witches only. And you ele looks interesting like that.

:O I don’t like to work with numbers nor ever do any DPS tests. All I claimed was from my experience from fractals/dungeons.

Frozen Burst + Comet doesn’t have high damage on their own, but still deals AOE damage when stacking might, especially on the trail of Burning Speed + Flame Wall. Normally against Chanters blobs at level 50, I’d use burning speed+ Frozen Burst + Comet + Magnetic Wave + Ring of Earth → Everything dies at the end of the chain, the only one left is the veteran with aproximately 1/3 of HP. All of them can be chain very quickly, much less than 5 seconds, yet enough to burn all the trashes cleanly. My point is, I would take something deal big enough damage over a short course of rotation, over something which deals big DPS over a lengthy rotation. The goal is still there, kill trash fast before getting any damage. Some of the Scepter burst attack don’t even cleave, so I’m not sure how they count.

I’m sorry for I’m not gonna give you any satisfying answers in numerical terms. I’m pretty sure my experience is not unique or new, so either take it at face value or just let it… rot

Against the Chanter mobs at Cliffside’s Chest Seals, I would prefer them to BURN fast, clean and no cinders linger. As such, the scepter/x rotation would be terribly long and has much slower turnover. Staff has burning retreat as another burst, and D/F has 2 blast finishers in water attunement, one of them has short CD.

Lightning strike doesn’t work against a group of trash, anyways

Buying legendaries would be more cost efficient than making it.

Oh noe… Never knew SE p2 would be so hot.

The best part is with two earth shields, we can use Fortify alternately to keep Mai Trin inside the pulsing Lightning Field for 3 seconds. So we usually take her shield buff down pretty quickly. The shield also brings extra 180 Vitality +180 Toughness to counter some of her melee shot. Or you can give the shield to the Decoy, if you don’t have a reliable war or mesmer.

I had to make sure that forum regulars, my guildies, friends, family and relatives made up 1,200 of the viewers and the rest was random bystanders and reddit users. Of course, we had such a pretty small viewer counts to actually claim PvE is a thing in this game. Completely agree.

I used to have a necro in my regular group. It’s pretty much an unspoken rule for us to cover her disadvantage during Mai fight. I always favor Earth Shield because of that.

You’re late to the party. She is much more vicious and deals far more devastating attacks now. Yet, same old mechanics. My only beef is, I can’t freely take people to fractals for a lesson, because I won’t be able to handle her alone.

I swap Air Training out for Zephyr’s Boon to deal with the canon phase. A normal might stacking rotation plus auto-attacking is fairly enough to burst her down after her buff is off. If the last canon phase gets sticky, FGS can be of great use.

Since i play mostly my PvE Elementalist as a S/X might stacker, I was looking to replace my scholar runes for some runes of strength for some times now (I was just waiting to finish my Ascended Armor before making the switch). But now, I don’t know. The DPS gap between Scholar and Strength is bigger now and my might stacking is still pretty good, even without Runes of Strength.

If I already had Strength I wouldn’t switch back to scholar, but right now I think i’ll stay with scholar.

I would still prefer Runes of Strength for high level fractals and with a bad pug where 1. Spike damage/condition/agony hit is sometimes unavoidable.
2. Fights last longer than the might duration from pre-stacking.
3. Situation calls for swapping to either D/F or Staff, which provides less might stacks.

Scholar is the best choice, I have both Scholar and Strength sets. Also, Sigil of Strength is very very nice to have in the open world PvE.

I have never played Nec so I can’t give him any advice personally.

My advice, learn the content with a warrior, in full zerks. Then slowly do it with the rest of your level 80 toons. Warrior → Guard, Mesmer → Thief, Ranger → Ele, Engi.

People bought the hype.

My Strength rune set is still good for fractal and zerging. Nothing changes much though. That said, my war is strictly a Phalanx Strength BBB and my ele still has her scholar for normal dungeon.

Nah, they have hundreds of weapon skins, dozen of legendaries, and full ascended gear in multiple characters. They stick for 50 because of the sheer belief for challenge, and maybe a glimpse chance at the vainglorious Fractal tonic. The same when asking, why do you attempt soloing at level 80 pre-Fracture patch? Some are just hardcore.

My regular group prefers 50 over 40 and they have no reason for that.

What is the issue with running 49? If anything its more challenging because of the dps loss. And 40 is easier but theres no huge AR requirement.

I don’t know about [King]‘s reason but personally, I dislike 49 as an elementalist. I rely on dodges to stay alive and only use invuln when dodging isn’t available. I would cringe watching my pitiful DPS as the endurance bar slowly fills up. It is not challenging at all. Level 50 isn’t more challenging either. The only problem would be at Mai Trin, pretty much it.

Edit: A poor man’s way to 70 AR (60 AR accessory + 10 AR armor)

• 1 infused back piece + 2 infused rings with three 10 AR, at the current market price: 3*[(10.131.496)*2^9-1.496]= 17853 silver or 178.53 gold
• Two pieces of armor which require lesser vision crystals would require only 400 dragonite ores (Head, Shoulder, Gloves, Boots).
• Or one to two pieces of ascended weapons requires a about 500-1000 dragonite ores.

To add to this discussion, I support Weth, haviz, frifox’s idea about the full wipe rule. You cannot hard res, but a full wipe team may respawn at the first waypoint and try to catch up. It is more interesting to watch a close match than seeing a team running without any pressure.

I recommend SweetFX to liven up the screen even when playing at the lowest setting. I’ve been using it in WvW and guild raids and my screen looks really decent!

You can’t see the Minstrel in this pic either. But yeah, I got side track making the lesser value legendary first because I couldn’t bear the cost for my precious Bifrost.

It looks nice with the ice block. A princess and a peasant, a match made by heaven.
