I made it! Here is my engi wearing micellaneous armors I don’t remember the name .

That’s a she, a fearless battle maiden :>
Iris proudly presents her Fashion Portfolio for the first time ever
^ Your heavies always wear CoE armors. What I’m liking the most is your setting for SweetFX. Can you share it?
Myself, I’m tempted to change my guardian’s backpiece. The old one is unique, not very flashy and fits well with the aetherblade metal tubes and gears. The wind catcher is, however, interesting and color coordinated.
Thoughts?!

The entire video is pretty interesting but you’ll probably want to see the colossus rumblus fight.
I have told everyone!
It took me almost 4 hours to complete soloing this path. But then I’m a convert. Playing staff really requires some strategic moves ^.^
Edit: The safe spot at Queen Spider doesn’t work anymore.
Boss Blitz. Then trade 300 Festival Tokens for 1 Tome.

undead slaying/accuracyswitch utilities dependent on situation, stack mantras on the first 3 builds if theres no utilities worth taking so you can get a 4% damage modifier per mantra
When do you use 10/20/0/20/20 over 30/20/0/20/0? Is it solely for the times when you don’t run any mantras or are there other reasons?
Solo Alphard and practicing solo Lupi X)
What I’m running:
)I wonder which solo content you are talking about
I remember [SC] did a CM path with 3 eles; one of them (Nat) was running the elusive 0/4/5/5/0 build. They was able to get a sub 3-minute with an excellent execution.
Even in an attempt to do SE p1 with 4 eles, none of us used Staff build as the fight is too short anyways.
@Zelyhn: In a casual speedrun, I play how I feel the most fashionable X)
Edit: I like [rT] record run because of the music, which is always stellar :p
Wethospu, thank you! This is indeed valuable information, I will try to keep it in mind.
Jerem, I’m a few months and some hundreds gold away from the build. I will consider the sigils, thanks!
Orgraal, will do, cheers!
Spoj, yea, I know that D/F build, I’m just experimenting around and I want to push the build I posted up there to its boundaries. And thanks for the tips!
Probably going to give it another try tonight when I get back home. (:
May I propose a variation of the Poor Man’s build, based on your build:

Plus Candied Dragon Roll.
My reason:
As for the Manly variance, suggested by Jerem and Miku:
Finally, the Manliest staff build from our larger-than-life celebrity, Dub
I have seen Stately and Aetherblade skirt on a human yesterday. She looked quite good. I think you need a different shoulder.
Expecially in fractals there are bosses that doesn t require an insane amount of dps.
Lava Shaman is one of them, you can kill grubs at 50 reasonably fast in a mix of zerker, celestial and pvt, but you really need to be able to stand still to ress people long enough (something a full berserker ele can t do).
While its even better to recharge your cds between phases.
).If I have at least 1 other party member alive with me, I simply agro the boss and kite him far from the other while they all rez each other. On my guardian with reflect, aegis, block, invulnerable, dodge and vigor I can keep it on me as long as they need for everybody to rez back. I won’t gonna use a tankier gear if I can do that with my zerker gear.
Elementalist is a great class to revive people in Fractals. After guard and before mesmer. All in zerker gears.
Also, valkyrie is more helpful than cavalier to counter the condition spike in dungeons (when all your cleanses are exhausted). Some examples come to mind:
- Bleeding from Graveling/Spider/Volkov
- Poison from Blossom in TA/Risen Drake
- Burning from Flame Legion Igniter/Tar/Subject Alpha
From what i tested, if you are going to equip defensive traits and utilities, your dps goes down the drain anyway, and the loss between full zerker and balanced is barely noticeable.
Also a full berserker ele that needs to carry a Group, could have a hard time against lava elementals expecially while having to focus the shield.
Nope, read the tactics in my sig. Ele can kill both the shield and clear the adds in the grawl fractal, providing he’s not the only reflection source. With practice, the ele won’t die but will be exhausted of all the resources to revive people if others die. In the hindsight, ele is not a carrying class in fractals.

Recently I’ve been using 6/6/0/2/0 (Take Tempest Defense and Piercing Shard) when 5 to 7-manning ‘Sparcus’ in Boss Blitz. Besides Lava Font, use Static Field + Glyph of Storm for a quick trash clearing and Ice Bow in water attunement in between Meteor Shower when the boss puts up his reflection. I guess it isn’t just camp fire on staff when fighting?
Edit for clarification.

An updated appearance I recently did for one of my older rangers.
Due to the extremely over-sized armor elements on male sylvari, I opted to remake him as female instead.
Armors:
- Helm: Devil Horns
- Shoulders: Magitech Medium Shoulderpads
- Chest: Strider’s Tunic
- Gloves: Viper’s Armguards
- Leggings: Magitech Leggings
- Boots: Zodiac Medium Boots
- Outfit: Ancestral Outfit
Dyes:
- Algae
- Enameled Jungle
- Midnight Ice
Weapons:
- Tormented Axe
- Tormented Sword
No really good green weapons and cannot dye them
Tormented as green would look amazing
Must. Have. That. Algae. Dye.
x . x
Exquisite!
Edit: How did you make you spinning gif image?
Edit 2: I would suggest the Majory’s Weapon skins and, maybe, Crystalline Blade. The latter may lack the impact factor, imo. Best fit would be the sword from Tequatl’s Hoard.
(edited by Iris Ng.9845)
Just want to chime in, this guy made an extremely wonderful look on his sylvari ranger:
I think Sylvari can look good outside the Cultural/TA norm.
But you’re in NA, Max!
…
Oh wait,
Me too .__.
Well, you basically just said what I’m currently running with.
Undead Sword/ Force Sword and Perception Focus. When I’m running with pug, I rely on my FB to skip phase 2 and make my Lupi fight less painful. By the time I get to Lupi, I would always have 10-15 stacks anyways. For a slightly more experienced group, I prefer sigil of battle on my focus. Because a perfect group which pumps up 25 stacks of might throughout the whole fight is very rare, far and in between. I’d rather let people run what they enjoy then ask for a specific optimized team comp. Boring.
;_; so much mesmer hate
I will never get a team
I know right
We need to form teams by ourselves to be able to play mesmer
Best

EverWho is joining our 5 mesmer team?!
Me! My live commentary is awesome as well. Zelyhn thinks it’s cute. You must have me, Sandy!
My vote for Randall. He’s the leader of the anti-FGS crowd.
Look at it this way. If you play staff when solo AC or low-manning Arah, it is pretty challenging.
I agree that in a full 5 man team, playing staff ele is a bit monotonous and boring. However, many great eles I know swap weapons in between fights to fix the shortcomings of their group comp, and staff have the most useful utilities for group skipping.
The most boring playstyle for ele, imo, is scepter/dagger ele trying to burst the boss down with scepter air attack and churning earth. Bonus with ‘rolling in Earth for damage’. Pretty facepalm worthy.
If you actually are using churning earth for anything other than prestacking might, then you need to just reroll. And scepter air attacks are meh too. That is why you got 2 LHs and 2 FGS. Try dropping DT while running in and drop rof, phoenix, arcane brilliance, earthquake, arcane blast, summon LH and go crazy on the boss. I guarantee you will be the one the boss will turn to instantly.
And to me s/d or pretty much anything with LH is more fun since you will be in there meleeing. Boring to me is standing 600 yards away and spamming 251112115 through the dungeon. But then again, I prefer melee.
I would be surprised if one just camps one attunement during the whole dungeon.
Again, my point is staff is pretty interesting to play when you do man-mode in dungeons and high level fractals. Cued from the cool kids such as Dub and Emanuel.
In a normal dungeon run, you do just camp one atonement on staff though :L
Don’t you stack might or swiftness? Or use cleanse once in a while? Or killing the Orrian Turrets with your reflect? :s
Look at it this way. If you play staff when solo AC or low-manning Arah, it is pretty challenging.
I wasn’t really talking about challenge, I was talking about what you would do to optimise it. You forgo changing elements completely in a fight, which is the whole point to playing an ele. Without the elements, you stop being an elementalist, you turn into a boring class without the mechanic that defines it.
You forgot that the “Attunement Dancing” and “Staff” go hand-in-hand in World vs. World. It’s just not necessarily so in Dungeons while most utilities can be provided from your utility skills or teammate. If all you think of is camping Fire attunement in an organized group of 5 people is pretty boring then low-manning a dungeon will allow you to reach out to a more interesting staff play. You can really complain about a play style with all those crutches.

…Hmm? I think you wholeheartedly miss my point. Scepter air attack as in spamming scepter skills number 1-2-3-1111-2-3 in Air Atunement without any Conjured Weapons. And I never said that I’m not meleeing with my staff. I would be surprised if one just camps one attunement during the whole dungeon.

My trick to reduce the annoyance from pug stealing my LH: slot an extra ice bow. My utility bar always has: Arcane Shield/ Lightning Hammer/ Ice bow. If pug picks up my LH, I just use ice bow 5/4/3 to finish whatever is still alive. If the fight is long (like against Bjarl), your LH will come up and ready in no time. For short dungeons, spare no conjured weapons! Even FGS! Don’t save it if you can handle the fight without it.
The downside is you are missing on signet of fire. But at lower level dungeons, your crit chance isn’t that great with SoF either. You might as well go with precision food or accuracy+ night sigil. Get ascended weapons asap as your conjured weapons benefit from it.

Citizens,
I’m sorry for my recent absence from this thread. All of the late invites will be sent tonight, NA time. Thank you for your understanding!
These are some serious contenders for my mesmer’s assassin armors. I settled with the (last) cheesy T3 look even though it’s not the most inspirational or unique one out there. My reasons:
If you want something extraordinary other than plain cultural and TA armors, it’s worth considering your sylvarie’s personality, class, weapons and even the relevant plant theme for it. Good luck!
P.S.: Please ignore the color shown in the preview pictures. Bonus my zerker’s look :p
The cool kids who made the most epic fail at Jotun boss ever ;P
Please let me cover all 60 transmutation charges. I forgot to correct the amount failing to realize there are 6 members per team.
Found something that bothered me yesterday. I had a student, or what I thought was a student, ask me to come help in p4 with Lyssa. I asked if he was stuck in a pug, but he told me he was trying to “get good” and solo it. I thought to myself that why not, I haven’t been playing for a little over a week, why not jump back in and help someone get better. Took a couple tries, but I finally pulled my head out of my rear and finished her off. He then said something to the effect of “if we finish, we might as well sell.”
I don’t know why, but this really rubbed me the wrong way. The guy can’t solo lupi (at least that I’ve seen) and he wants to duo p4 to sell. I gave him some tips on Lupi, but after a while I left.
Was I wrong to do this? I don’t like duoing to sell w/ people I don’t know well, and it made me feel like I was being used for my ability to profit. Some advice from my dungeon friends would be appreciated. I like being a teacher. Carrying someone through a dungeon run just so they can profit (especially someone I don’t know well) doesn’t feel right to me.
Remind me of something similar happen to laharl awhile ago. One of his students was quite pushy and insisted on selling the path after our Lupi practice. I think laharl was feeling bad because he used the JP for the practice.
I replaced my Accuracy Sigil with Perception Sigil. Because of Arah ;-)
how to mesmer in dungeons
re-roll to guardian
:D
For the love of Sandy, I banish you!
On a serious note, can someone please tell me what make wardens not spin when summoned?
I often spend more than I can earn. So, it’s minus 2 g a day, to be frank.
Leading the pack in fashion is quite costly

I remember duoing CoE p2 with Sandy. It was excruciating. It took us no less than 3 hours, with Sandy constantly being semi-AFK tweeting on his guild chat while I helplessly re-ran from waypoints over and over. But then, I have learnt tons of things about mesmer which I could have spent thousands of hours on it with pugging and all.
Or I remember being so proud of my first solo in AC p3 and the satisfaction I’ve got when giving the spots away.
Gokil, do you have any recorded gameplay?
Agreed on fotm being unrewarding.
If you run arah with a good group you can clear any path in 30 minutes or less and the gold reward is around double the reward for one of the easier dungeons so I don’t see any issues there.
Players can always challenge themselves by doing the content at a lower level character, doing it undergeared/naked, trying to clear it as fast as possible or soloing it. Not all of those methods are more rewarding but soloing and speedclearing (not the lfg kind) certainly are so there is an incentive to do it.Aegis, protection, condition removal, blind, weakness, projectile block, reflects, blocks, stability, invulnerability, vigor, etc. All of these are defenses that are considered when buildcrafting for solo and group play in the DPS meta. Depending on the content you wish to complete and the skill level of yourself (and others in your party) you try to maximize your damage while grabbing the minimum amount of defenses you or your group needs to survive the run. This is no different from the buildcrafting in trinity games.
The only difference is the community. There are new anti-DPS meta (wrongfully called zerker meta) posts each day on these forums because of all the playhowiwants that interpreted a single sentence in the gw2 manifesto incorrectly and wrongfully believe the game is solely catered to them. They do not wish to accept that their playstyle is viable but not optimal or that they have to improve/adjust themselves in order to be able to play at an optimal level. They wallow in their mediocrity and demand that they get the same rewards as the players that do put in some effort. Be it by buffing their builds, nerfing the builds that do better than them or by changing the game at the risk of destroying the balance we currently have, where everything is viable.
Well said
Look for Dub’s videos. His staff playing is incredibly inspirational. He uses staff in almost everything.
You could go the extra mile and have a different armour set for daylight and so could switch to something matching.
It sounds silly…but it’s prob something I’d do…
I don’t have Eternity but I do have both day and night set to match with my Meteorlogicus chronological cycle. I agree this is a good advice.
Get the biggest Norn, make her a mesmer. Then proceed to summon a Phantasm Warden. Now compare its size with Feedback, and her fellow asura’s Warden.
Have fun watching
Yeah. That may explain why I was able to keep 2/7 posts on that topic
If that is so, if all the builds have their place in the game, then why does everyone and their mother have a farm zerk warrior? Why is it so easy to just apply the same lame stacking strategy to 80% of the dungeon content ? and im not only talking even talking of speed clears. Because its easy? Because it is superior to all other ways to do the content? Or just because people are used to it?
GS Warrior is basically a very selfish build, non-supportive build that helps your team by dealing as much damage as possible.
Am I selfish when I bring a Mesmer GS to a Dungeon just because its not viable when I stand in melee range in a corner?
You won’t tell me, you think PvE was intended to be this way.
I don’t get what are you complaining about? Points mentioned:
More often than not, the opinions expressed here in the forum are just our excessive rant about the bad apples we came across. Because they are so painful to watch that they somehow amuse us at the same time. Thus, we share our stories. The majority of the dungeon forum regulars doesn’t care what our pugs run, nor they bother to correct the misinformed during our daily run. If we do, that means we care and pity them for their casualness. Once in a while, the casual will come here and cry out for their justice. Then they quickly dissolve like soap bubbles. That is rather sad and pointless. If anything, this sub forum needs some new insightful discussions. Or some community activities. Or Fashion Contests. They will undoubtedly draw more attentions.

Keep the discussion on topic, guys

Awesome advice. I should play my ranger more for this.

6 k HP max =.="
If it’s really only 2 meters up in the air it would be around 0,6 seconds. That would mean the damage per bleed is 733/sec. That’s around 14000 condition damage at lvl 65. stronk.
0.6 sec seems about right. But 14000 condition damage (?!!) Where does it come from? Show your math!
That one is a WvW build. It doesn’t bode well with high level fractals. I’ll leave the guidance to many better warriors than me in this sub-forum. One thing I may add is you will need a great sword, an axe and a mace.
An updated appearance for my most recent ranger.
