I don’t think it’s worth kittening your damage too much for it. I feel like it works best to mix survivability with damage. Feels like you don’t sacrifice that much damage if you make yourself a bit beefier and take a few extremely useful support/utility spells.

Such a shame we don’t have any ranged stealth builds though, since most of our innovative and fun plays come from stealth builds. Only thing I played was P/D for the stealth, you need to go melee for it but it’s relatively safe. Just a shame it only works well with condition build.

After i completed lvl 10 i got a chest with the ring, but now, every time i rerun lvl 10 i get no chest, while other ppl in my team say they get a chest every time they do lvl 10.
Is that normal?

I’m not sure but I think you are supposed to get one the first run you do at lvl 10+ that day. Bit like dungeons resetting. Be glad you actually got the ring, I’ve seen people with more than one (up to 4). I’m still waiting to see if it’s a bug or a feature.

If you haven’t ever been to a dungeon in 5man guardian party, best everyone with mace/shield tanky dps setup, you have no idea what ‘immortal’ and ‘mow through stuff’ mean.
Run up to boss, start autoattack, minimise the game – for most encounters.

It’s really not, atleast with one guardian you can still get instakilled if you dont pay attention (atleast at lvl 10+). Usually this doesnt happen, but 5 guardians really don’t add that much since protection stacks in duration and not in time and it slows killing speed. On some encounters a guardian party using wall of reflection 24/7 could be rather imbalanced I guess

just did level 10 didn’t get a ring as well some of the party get ( those that were lying on the floor for most time probably thats the way of getting it:D)

still it be nice if you could get ring outs for those who did level 10 and not recived the ring..

mostly the good player base gets rewarded less than the normal one..-> as in gw1 you felt like you got good loot if you haven’t played for a while and now dungeons get nerfed down ( you already nerved some boss mechanics on the asura path in the new dungeon ) made it way easier. Still I hope there is like above a certain level a sure drop of an exotic since the money you have to invest to get past agony ect is pretty mutch so loot better be good to once award good players:)

I feel there is some truth to it, I always found my best items (even in gw1) after a short break. Maybe it’s in my head, but if it’s a feature it’s really annoying for people like me who refuse to stop untill they get what they want

So everyone is supposed to get a ring? I know people who got rings many times and I’m still waiting to get one. Not that I mind that much if the drop rate is reasonable, but if it’s a bug and not a feature, it’s sort of unfair and unwanted.

Pretty much anything. But guardian and healing specced ele are my favourites. I also love necros in my group because they have a high pool of HP and are selfsustaining.

It’s not a bug, you can still salvage them for ectos if you want. Not everything is soulbound or account bound, I got an exotic worth 5 gold once. Only once in 80 orso runs though

Hoping it gets better if I progress more (maybe an ascended item, seems to drop for most people at lvl 10+ )

It’s not that hard. There are only seven things you and your group need to know to complete this fight.

B> If you are not kiting this boss all the time, you are doing it wrong. You pull, dump, and pull to the next. You DPS the boss while pulling. If you’re melee, either get very good at it, or have a ranged weapon in your pack specifically for this fight.

Don’t melee, even if you are good at it. You will be halting the boss way too much, especially if some one is slowing or crippling (some guy always is lol).

I’m a guardian ankittenep a staff or scepter around, staff if my teammates are silly and backpeddling 24/7 so I can give them speed. I keep a lot of evades and blocks for when he is near the burnt spot. I keep the black spot between him and me so he moves right on it and then I tank him for a few secs, either with blocks or evading. Works perfectly if your teammates don’t pull him away (usually this doesn’t happen). I know you don’t have to do this, but it’s way more secure and you don’t risk spending even more time on the fight.

This is another easy fractal. That fight is so easy. Choose 2 different drop points and just go from one to another. The second you pour lava on him you start moving him back to previous location. Everyone who is dps’n him sticks together and moves together. Agro doesn’t matter if you stick together. When boss is on sweet spot root him place and pour.

This fight on high lvl fractals is as easy as fractal 1 lol. This fractal isn’t difficult in the least. A hard fractal is dolphin mode. Easy but I hate it so very much lol

You haven’t played a tanky or supportive character if you think this fractal is THAT easy on high level. I have to work rather hard to stay alive against the champion dredge boss.

I’ve done it multipl times above level 10, its starting to become one of my favourite ones. Hated it because it was slow in the beginning, but now I’m enjoying the challenge. Even the fight before the endboss gets more fun every time I progress.

I haven’t made it to 20 yet, but atleast above 10 he still takes forever to go down and isn’t that strong. Allthough the many jellyfish can be annoying when u aren’t prepared and he starts strangeling you.

But overall I’d say, make it harder but lower his health pool by… A LOT. The Asura Boss is easy before lvl 10, but after that he can get quite annoying. Probably the Boss who spreads agony the most (single target though).

It’s getting abit boring atm (lvl 14) after I adapted to lvl 10+, but I’m hoping for something fresh at lvl 20! But even if there isn’t anything, it was a really fun and innovative design on all levels (except the D/C issue was a small oversight).

The ascended items from the bonus chest seem a bit unfair though. If I’m not mistaken, its once a day above lvl 10? Anyways, the people I go with have gotten like 2-4 items so far and I’ve gotten 0. Don’t know how its calculated, but it’s a bit demotivating when they get those and I get bags of gold. I’m used to bad luck in games, so I’ll keep trying anywas.

i imagine the reason is to mitigate the segregation that’s already being caused. it’s pretty hard to get a group for lower level fractals, so if you have to run the lower levels with your alts, you’re allowing people that haven’t given fractals a chance yet to find a group.

in a perfect world, they would find a system that completely gets rid of this issue while still not forcing veteran players to go through the easier levels. the best i can think of are monthly resets with account-bound fractal level, but even then it’s not good enough.

I thought about this aswell, but atleast for me it’s just stopping me from playing with my other characters because I want to progress not start over.

I’ve never seen people get so mad over having more to do over the long-term of the game. I must be the only person on the forums who’s okay with ascended gear.

No you aren’t the only one, it still needs some improving, but atleast now there is something challenging with progression and actually worth doing money-wise in PvE. Way better than before! It’s really a lot of fun above lvl 10 because most people know how to play and are generally friendly and interested in working together.

Forums in mmo’s are always a place for people to come and vent. There is usually no other way to share their grievances. So it’s a bit of a twisted image you are getting

Firstly, if I did get the Dusk or any other Precursor from the chest, I would not sell it because it is so rare I would definitely use it for one of my characters. I plan to play all professions anyway.

Secondly, I do not sell gold nor do I buy gems to convert to gold in this game. So no matter your calculation, it means absolutely nothing. To this date there is nothing in this gem store that appeals to me that I cannot get in game. It is not even hard to farm gold in game and convert to gems if you really wanted something.

So what if you have 200gold in game? it makes no difference whatsoever. What you get in game stays in the game and will be spent in the game. It benefits you nothing IRL. Does it really mean that much to you to tell people “Wow, I have 200 gold in my Guild Wars 2 game account”

Get over it already!

The price and any drop of a precursor is unfair to everyone except to those who have found one. So no wonder you aren’t complaining. You think it’s a good motivation for anyone that most items are at most worth a few gold but precursors are worth between 50 and 200g?

I agree with you whole heartily on your post. The drops were totally out of left field and no one expected to see these in their loot. Also, the magnitude of the rewards is borderline silly when given out randomly in a 1 time event.

Now i will agree that I cant go out and sell my new “Dusk” for $250, but I will still argue that it is worth $250 of in game currency.

Well before the event, people were complaining about things not being rewarding. So giving out exotics and even the box isn’t all that bad in my opinion. It took 2hours and it was far from easy. But giving out THAT MANY precursors out of the blue while leaving so many people hanging is just silly.

The main issue is ofcourse the price of some items (precursor, one or two minipets) that are so out of touch with everything else in the game that they ruin it for everyone except for those who actually find one.

I have to agree to some extent. They have to make precursors rare, that’s a given. It’s just a bit too rare and then they are suddenly out of the blue giving people a high chance on a precursor?

It’s good that they try to change it, but this is unfair to so many people. Not only those who didn’t get to participate to be honest. I myself worked really hard to get my cultural armor and now suddenly I have friends and guildies who barely played the game who made the same amount of money or even double that with one event?

They must understand this is really frustrating? And it’s not just one guy, I saw atleast 8 guys in my near vicinity (all really casual players) who got one. They actually asked : “Hey, can I sell this?”.

You have to understand, it’s mostly like this on forums for MMO’s. There is usually a vocal minority who you can’t please no matter what you do. And like with any sequel, the original will always field many supporters who want to golden old days.

There are also a lot of real issues being pointed out on the forums though. A lot of players, like myself, mainly come here when they have grievances with the game or problems.

Rangers or necros really aren’t too bad..

Necros are fine, they have a lot of utility, and epidemic is fantastic. It’s just Rangers that aren’t as good as the rest, since they lack good group oriented traits, and they don’t have good single target damage and no sustained 5 target AoE.

I disagree, both have group orientated builds and playstyles, people just rarely make them. Which is part of the problem.

It’s a bit annoying that you cant really progress unless you have people who are the same level as you. What if you could take your party members to your difficulty and each person would progress and get loot at his own difficulty while playing at the difficulty of the person with the highest one. This way it can’t be abused and you can actually play with people who haven’t unlocked the higher difficulty while you are both still progressing

Let’s say I was difficulty 7 and my friend is only at 5. I would be able to take him to 7, but he would progress from 5 to 6 and only get loot accordingly. This seems to be the safest and only way to unify the players without making it abuseable.

Thoughts?

EDIT : About the MF, seems like they are already moving to a system where MF is inherent to the item and higher rarity means higher MF. Which was what I wanted to suggest

It’s pretty simple, like in normal dungeons glass cannon builds are a total bust and will only give your teammate headaches imo. Guardians are always great for PuG because they rarely build glass cannon.

I’d say you need atleast 2 ranged for an easier time in some dungeons btw. Besides that a lot of it comes down to knowing your class and how to survive with it, building it right and picking the correct skills when needed. I’ve done major parts of more difficult dungeons with 3 people because we know exactly what to do and what the limits of our class are.

I run glass-cannon Elementalist and I’m the last one down usually. Of course, anything that hits for over 10k one shots me.

If you can do it, fine! But most people, and more importantly most classes, can’t handle that. Frankly some bosses are really annoying with glass cannon eles unless they heal themselves 24/7 or have plenty of condition removal.

I had fun. And keep in mind I spent 4 hours doing fractals without getting anywhere because of disconnects. If you can’t get something to work, just move on to something else. I did the event first, then tried quest, when it was bugged I did fractals. But I do admit that the NPC shouting messed me up aswell

I love the new dungeons. Aside from the fact that if you DC you can’t join it again, which made me waste a few hours, the team who made them should be commended for it. Good job guys!

About the event, looks like the game is hard on a lot of people when it’s such a big event in a small space, but I did enjoy the fight with the suicide crab thingies. I liked doing the story/scavenger hunt when it wasn’t bugged aswell.

So for me, despite really frustrating bugs and querks, it has been a positive experience. Mainly the dungeons were a blast with friends. I absolutly understand people coming to vent here after a frustrating experience, but please keep in mind that the frustration and bugs will pass and the content will stay.

Breezed through the first 4 difficulty levels with my guildies. Then again we’re all fully exotic lvl 80s. It certainly wasn’t hard.

We ran into little trouble aswell (eventhough I never made it to 3 because of constant disconnects) but I wouldn’t say you can ‘breeze’ through them from the get-go. I’d qualify a run as ‘breezing through it’ when you don’t have to try hard and no1 goes down or dies.

The elemental boss (with the lava u need to pour on) and the one with the seals are definatly a fun challenge and I’d call anyones bluff who claims they got bored because it was too easy :p

First off, I love the new dungeon, versatile, fun and very original. Tough some parts might be hard to do with a PUG. But I just had to try twice to get to the level 2 difficulty and 3 times to get to the third one without actually making it there. I usually don’t disconnect that often, but I guess this was one of those days.

I’m hoping they fix this soon, but in the meantime : Anyone as unlucky as me? Might make me feel a bit better about it.

I’m rather aggrivated right now. Did about 12 runs, never made it to 3 because of this. First time I didn’t know and went outside to look for a new member, so we had to start over. Second time I crashed when on the 3th run of difficulty 2….

I’m somewhat pissed right now. First the event was bugged (the guy in kessex hills) so I went to do this dungeon and then this happened. Really feel like I’ve been played for a fool.

And because there is no personal support service, no matter what bug or messed up thing you encounter, it’s never being remedied. I get that they are trying to save on support, but atleast get things right.

What are you re-rolling too?

Well I love versatility. They made it rather impossible to play something different on a thief now. So I’m thinking about either engineer or warrior (lots of different weapons). Prolly engineer since I already have a guardian at level 80.

I was hoping this patch would bring some much needed changes to a thief. Changes that would make innovative and utility based builds more viable instead of just another way of nerfing yourself. And since it didn’t, I think I’m shelving my thief for now. Only thing that sucks is that I got cultural tier 3 on my thief

I might actually try and make a venom build first. And if I can’t build something which isn’t completly subpar, I’ll be leveling my warrior or engineer (not too sure which is more fun and versatile yet).

Yeah thief seemed promising, but it’s turning out to be a real bust. I think part of the problem is that the class isn’t en par with the other ones, so they tried to push it in line.

I see 3 major problems

- We sacrifice way too much damage when speccing out of power/precision
- Pistol is too weak and dagger isn’t all that as offhand
- Stats, gear and traits aren’t as compatible as they should be

Imagine if our normal damage wasn’t so dependant on critting and pistol was good. You would be able to go a Venom/power build and wielding strong utility spells without actually kittening yourself (allthough thief also lacks venoms). The way stats and weaponsets are setup now, you can’t really go with fun an innovative builds without nerfing your damage. Perhaps stats should have an effect on every skill, just a different one, to improve build options.

And that’s where a lot of people’s ‘trust’ in the game die. You ‘hope’ that they’ll change something, such as revamping the skillsets.

They actually said they would improve other areas to compensate for the nerf. I’ve been a patient man, but I’m getting tired of being forced into one or two weaponsets or builds just to be effective. That’s nothing like what I would expect from Guild Wars and it’s nothing like how other classes are being played.

I’ve played around with builds on thieves, but in the end you are only kittening yourself if you don’t play it straightforward.

I respect your viewpoint but I disagree.

There’s quite a lot of innovative builds that people just look over.

Ever seen a Zerker’s shortbow build centering on Ice Drake Venom and Scorpion Wire (as well as shortbow #3)? It’s crazy. I myself can’t pull it off very well but I have a mate that just wrecks face using exactly that.

I’m sure you can have a lot of fun in WvW with that, and I’m not saying those are useless builds but I doubt you will do anything in PvE or sPvP. Meanwhile your warrior friend is critting for 5x the damage without actually working for it.

We are a squishy class, why are we so bad at ranged? And why are our supportive skills not getting a buff?

EDIT : maybe if thief had MORE poisons it would actually be worthwile

Not gonna read all the crying, but I can say that Piken Square is quite full. I always run into people and never have to do group events on my own. The Trading Post is also a vicious fighting pit with hundreds of thousands of items being traded daily.

I haven’t seen a lot of crying. As I said, my server is rather full aswell, but I still agree the game needs some changes. I think the Lost Shores is coming right on time, no matter what the content brings.

Where did everybody go?

I’m still seeing a lot of people on my server. Doing events, even organizing WvW zergs with +100 people at 1 am. When the Mad King event started, there were atleast 10 LA overflows. It does seem like people are sort of laying low atm, but I think a lot of them are just waiting for the patch to spend their time on.

I do agree that leveling is too fast and PvE lacks rewards and a challenge. Would be great if you could do some good old hard mode or something challenging with a group of friends. One major issue, which imo also killed WoW, is fast traveling. It just doesn’t work for an open world. You get less involved because you go from point A to B without even being confronted with anything in between. If you would have to travel atleast a tiny bit (with horses orso), the world would feel more alive and many people would be attracted to world events when they pass by. Ofcourse traveling across the entire map is too much, but maybe fast traveling ONLY to big cities would have been a better idea. It might be too late to change this now, but this has killed the immersion in so many games and a lot of people don’t seem to realize it.

Anyways, I’m still enjoying trying and mastering different classes, but it’s high time that this game got some more worthwile challenges and some diversified playing styles. It still has this amazing potential and people are sticking around because of it, but it really needs an update or population will actually decline.

I’m still enjoying playing because I like leveling a different class, but my appetite is slowely dwindeling. The two things that keep me playing are :

1. Leveling and trying to do events or areas way above what you should be able to handle.
2. Difficult jumping puzzles (I loved the clocktower)

Those are the only two things that challenge me to actually try. I’ve always prefered PvE over PvP, but right now the PvE content is just too darn easy. Now that I’ve finished all jumping puzzles (and they removed the clocktower) and I’ve managed to get a few characters to 80, there isn’t a lot to do PvE-wise.

So eventhough I’m not a big fan of widening the gap between hardcore and casual players, I’m actually looking forward to the new dungeons and I’m hoping that they will be a fun challenge. I wouldn’t mind cosmetic items as a reward for those dungeons, but I’m not too broke up the way it’s going to be. Gear scaling is a lot less detrimental compared to WoW imo.

The Searing is a dutch guild located on the Underworld server. We regularly organize PvE and WvW events within the guild. After removing a lot of the inactive members, we are now down to 380+ members and I suspect some of those are also rather inactive.

Despite being a big guild, we are a very cozy and social guild. We expect our members to maintain a friendly and fun atmosphere, which is why I’m looking for more people to keep the guild even more lively at all times! Some more info :

- Regular WvW and PvE events (e.g 60 members joined the Mad King event last time
in the same overflow)
- We have a teamspeak, Facebook and are actively working together with other guilds.
- Our officers are reasonable and always willing to help

I think a lot of people here gave great responses (and lengthy ones at that), but the reason it devolves into “L2P” despite the OP being “reserved” in his post is because it sounds like an L2P issue. I don’t like saying that because it sounds kind of mean, but in this instance the OP really misclassified the issue. All the utility used against you and playing in that way requires a very active player, not someone mashing a single button.

Which is why some of us were discussing it and we agreed that mesmer isn’t OP but that a lot of the other classes lack answers and diverse utility skills. But there you go again assuming that you and all mesmers are the only ones making those kind of calculations and skilled decision.

I have to do that with every class in every competitive game I’ve played, it’s the nature of a competitive game mode. The problem is that most classes seem more skill capped. You can’t get that much more out of it, even if you tried. Which means you can keep progressing with a mesmer up to a point where equally skilled players are limited by their class options. And it doesn’t help that a mesmer is a great class even in the hands of the average or bad player (atleast some builds are really user-friendly).

Some people obviously came from WoW, where classes go and battle on the forums. Guild Wars invites people to play more classes, which in turn should produce more objective and productive debates. Not just 10 replies telling the guy how he got outplayed and the mesmer had to use a lot of buttons, I think he got that by now. Instead try giving him more tips or tell him why you disagree with his assumption that he can’t kill the mesmer with his warrior (Which some people did nicely).

And again, I see no one calling out OP. The most extreme thing I’ve seen here is a call for a slight nerf, and you would have to be blind not to see that both mesmers and thieves are too much ahead of some other classes in PvP in certain departments atm. I played a mesmer and I found that past level 40 they are probably one of the strongest classes. They shouldn’t be nerfed hard, but they certainly need some tweaking. So all I see are people getting a bit too defensive over nothing. No one is saying you aren’t all awesome mesmers, but wouldn’t you atleast agree with this guy that even half decent mesmers are a pain to kill with most classes?
