It is pretty easy to solve the problem. Relink and lock transfers. No bandwagoning anymore. And give people the chance to transfer 1 week before relink.

I been thinking about how a hard wall might be positive/negative….

T1 servers are locked from being transfered into and servers moving into T1 (or possibly T2) auto lose thier linking.

So if you push your points high enough to jump up tiers and you are linked, you have to be prepared to fight the big boys solo, whom are also solo.

Honestly there is no reason for kitten be anything more then 1v1v1, if you are claiming top dog status then you can’t be taking a leg up from another server.

I don’t remember p/p being meta but I do remember it being fun as hell before they nerfed ricochet and before HoT brought so much projectile hate to the game.

The P/P build wasn’t condi.
There was the condi ghost thief which is still a thing, and there was p/d condi which also still works as long as you are good at landing c&d.

If you really want to harass havoc groups there it the d/d condi evade build. If they aren’t running resistance boonshare or good group cleanse you can tear them apart. Once you down one and they try to power rez you get to condi bomb the whole group.

Weird, probably my memory, my thief us so dusty I haven’t even l9oked at his build setup since before the trait tree change. Back when stats where packaged into the lines.

I swear it was referred to as gunslinger and people youtubed 1v5s.

I’m probably just dreaming…

What? Please play a thief more before you talk rubbish. The only thing a thief can do (d/p) is gank people and or troll. It’s can’t really fight for kitten unless they run impact disruption trait and bound for easy mode. Druids have a far better mu vs thief, condi Chrono has a better mu then thief, a good war condi or power is a tough mu for thief, scrapper……not even gonna say anything. In fact the only fight I clearly know I can win regaudless of how bad or good they are is a power reaper or some ele builds and even then its easy to screw up but apart from that any above 1v1 thief has an up hill fight.

Remember when P/P was meta or D/D. D/D was such an enjoyable 1v1 skirmish.

What ever, DB was comfortable T2/T3 until the cracks of this system pumped and dumped us. To have linking /bandwagon artificially bounce you to 1st and then delinking / transfers bounce you to T4 shows how bad the system is.

I don’t really care if we drop to T5, DB is home. It’s just sad to see the frustration of the server loyalist after a pump and dump. God’s, joy, gotl, kill and a few other guilds will continue the good fight, win or lose.

I can see the writing on the wall, spending months in T2/T3 and never hearing of YB….then they steamrolled to T1….

Good luck YB, you are the Junior Gold Miner of stocks….this is your pump and soon to be dump. BG stays T1 and TC / FA will drive you till you dump for the next hottness server….forecast,….next pump and dump SBI

Open field siege is a cop out. Either way does not matter servers like NSP, DB, SBI all run from open field fights. All they can do is run back in their tower or keep. Otherwise they die. Even if they were to try open field siege they would still die….

This is garbage dude. I’ve open field guild squad / zerged 95% of group battles. It is very rare that we would duck in to a keep/tower to gain advantage, your info is literally 100% inaccurate and trolling.

Hello WvWer’s, what’s the best way to organize the parties within a squad? Should the heavies be together with the squishies and mediums in their own parties? Or should they be in ranged/close up parties?

What’s the best way to organize small squads (10-20 people) and larger ones. Thanks.

You want a good boon distribution.

Generally a Rev and a guardian per party.

Other skills that are limited by players, like mesmer invis, try for 1 per party.

The goal is to take skills that would normally hit the 5 closest players and because the game will prioritize your party members over someone else close, you can share effects more evenly without overlap or people not covered by spreading these classes across parties.

If they drop the nerf hammer on Durability runes, Boon Sharing, Druids in small scale, Ghost Thief, condi in small scale and Warrior defensive sustain… they will have fixed 80% of the most unbalanced content in WvW.

Throw DH traps and Rev adjustments on the pile and sPvP will be a more joyous place as well.

So your solution is to keep the perceived imbalances across the board but make everyone collectively weaker?

Honestly I don’t understand all the belly aching… maybe my class is OP? Or maybe I play my class to the section of wvw they are attuned to with my classes strength, gear and traits…plus maybe some skill.

I know I am not setup to 1v2, so I don’t come on here complaining, no, I just play in other scenarios.

Last night we had a 48 man blob but was getting completely pwned by enemy zerg, 3 straight wipes in a row, and it was a structured guild raid with parties set up for boon/ synergy but no win. Then later we ran a 24 man pug and wiped a 40man zerg 6 times like they were wet paper.

That’s ebb and flow…

Play hard, play your class solid and to its job and stop the hate.

I hear all this balance hate cause you got pwned, you got to stop the hate and change your strategy.

Maybe enemy is running 8 necrosis, maybe they built in a guardian and Rev per group. Read their makeup and change your strategy.

I know for a fact that 90% of you on here have 4-5 level 80s in full exotics at bare minimum. Maybe today isn’t run your thief day and you need to log your electric. Anet changed many rewards to account base for this reason.

I have heard horrors of some wvw focused servers squad kicking, guild kicking and openly trolling people for playing some classes. Unbelievablyunacceptable.

I see no reason to change this, I power though a track fast enough…

I already am over filling bags and find myself posting gear on market / salvaging while running between points just to manage inventory. Any more and I’d have to actually stop from following tag for 2mins to clean space.

Because it’s dumb right now.
Most obnoxious: Thief (you could play with a blindfold on)
2nd: Warrior (doesn’t take skill)
3rd: Trap ranger (takes skill)
Debatable: Mesmer (due to stealth, double blink, and alacrity). PU condi needs nerf for other reasons than movement. It’s probably the most successful solo roamer, but it takes somewhat skill to be unkillable.

TL;DR: Nerf thief.

This, I only assume is coming from someone playing another class and can’t 1v1

I don’t have a 80 mesmer but I can tell you that war/theif is not always a face roll even with good builds / well timed rotation / flexibility.

Sure a warrior has a lot of movement across GS and Warhorn, but you now have no CC, you want to lock up runners, break lord bars, get interrupt sigils in gvg/zerg then you need to run hammer, which puts you with only a long long cool down elite for swiftness and basically rush.

I’ve had many a group that if you are caught a second behind on the run between points, you don’t get the swiftness stack and are jamming rush in hopes to catch up, sometimes causing a miss on a dps heavy group camp doylak tagging.

Warriors net a lot of hp but that doesn’t make us faceroll easy. I agree that in compared to some other skill heavy classes like attunements and kits, we have a simpler list of skills, that that does mean that even with 3.5k armor and 32k hp we don’t get immolibilized and bomb/ power single targeted down. Alternativelythose stats are for pure bunker and it would be boring to not load pwr/perc/fero and see those numbers like most of you light/mediums.

Thief is a class going full head in on condi or power and though movement causing skills / stealth stacks help the class greatly, there is skill with character placement and choosing when and how to bail or re-engage. Additionally a thief has 0 option other then to glass cannon, so yeah. 1v1 can look demeaning to the opponent, that’s thief specialty and if the enemy build counters, it’s 1v2 or the backline your picking off turns the zerg on you, then you melt like butter in the pan.

Yall want everyone to be equal but fail to realize we all have our own strengths in different parts of the mode.

Where was that post of the 10k auto attack ranger? When everyone yells about ranger being horrible?

Play to your characters strengths or roll a different toon. Hell, if your guardian isn’t cutting the mustard, play your thief a few hours then bounce back to guardian.

1 1v2 2 mesmer the other day in a 10min bout, I downed them collectively 6 times but wasn’t able to finish them off until finally was downed myself. So what should I do? Should I come on here yelling about my classes balance vs their classes balance? No, I live on and learn, I replay the fun of the bout and recall where I may of screwed up and what seemed to work and know if I run into that kind of roam again how I might approach it a new.

I agree that there is probably always room for balance, but 90% of this batching here is either a lack of skill of your own class, being pwned on the field or playing in a way that doesn’t max the strength of your class, be it roaming, small group/havoc, class synergy, guild raids, zergs or defense.

I agree with Cerby, this is a story of a commander that doesn’t play to the map they are in.

I can’t attest to fall damage but have seen the other two utilized to great effect by group/zerg. Also if you aren’t making a point to cap simply for run Speed then you are missing out big time, shrines are easier solo caps than camps and camps are easy. Your roamed alone should be caping half of them to begin with.

Also…DBL moral bonus for color washing the map…it’s similar to claiming home BL bloodlust points, color washing demoralizes the enemy even if it’s minor and provides no ppt

You can simply resupply from EoTM or other maps and come back. That’s just silly.

Who the kitten does this?

What an ungodly waste of time and what kind of self respecting wvw’er goes into EoTM. I spend hours every day in wvw and have MAYBE 10mims total time across all my characters in EoTM.

But that’s besides the point, facing a double zone screen to grab supply across BLs and then end up reset at entre point of BL you are “working in” is a horrible use of your time. I’m fairly certain most classes can solo a supply camp without much effort so many up and go grab supply plus points for your server.

A regular BL has 3 supply camps in your favor if it’s your home or if your the visiting server. You can’t tell me you can’t open up North, Northeast or Northwest on your home BL to supply. Additionally, visiting server South is very easy to cap, you have approach advantage to the camp on your side and kitten, I main a nonstealth class and can creep myself up to 1 of the 3 north camps without much trouble, it’s called map awareness.

None of this takes into account peeling supply out of towers/keeps, check the quantities, if you are back and forth claiming towers and your Garrison is fully stocked, then grab your supply from Garrison since it will be refilled easily.

DBL is even easier, the map is complex in comparison to BLs and there are also added the havoc/roam group distraction of shrines, you should be able to easily find a camp to quick cap.

EBG depends a bit more on if you are even, doing well, or being overwhelmed. Situation 1 and 2, there should be no reason you can’t sup off your two camps or recap them. Additionally each side has 2 towers and generally 1 is hit more frequently then the other, think Durious, so grab sup from the other. If you are being steamrolled by an enemy, their zerg is pushing or hs your keep….they are sitting with the majority of thier forces across map, take thier camp, it’s going to be wide open.

Off hours a 5 man can take garrisons, last night we duo’d 5 tower caps as enemy focused on tag on other side of map.

Get out there, get confident and down fear being downed, downed state = ts scout report, and repairs are mad cheap

Holy crap… DB estimated to bleed a -100 …. I’ve never seen that … ever. Seen it in the twenties and thought that was around the most movement you get in a single match. But a hundred? that’s crazy … Kinda feel for those who are literally all trying to be captain of the ship… this is faster glicko bleed than SoR’s collapse from t1

So my server was pushed up from t2 first place to t1 and held 2nd if not 1st for a number of weeks while linked.

Then we got unlinked and dropped to t2 (probably where we should be) and the following weeks lost 8 wvw guilds to transfers. We are now struggling at 3rd on t3.

Clearly that po8nts to a broken system.

I’m not crying that my server isn’t t1 or t3 but simply stating a 9 place swing shows serious cracks in the systems in place.

I understand the concept of linking and we were supporting a t6 server with our population and they certainly helped us. Linking is a positive concept that helps low tier server loyal players stay with thier home and can be a healthy small bump to a higher tier server.

I also understand the cash cow that is whole guild server transfers to anet as well as the win/win for buying server and merc guild.

I am also pro “if a merchant guild wants to transfer, let them, they aren’t loyal to the server anyways”

But when we are looking at the loss of linked pugs and 8 WVW RAID guilds numbers then we have a giant hole in population.. 1-2 tags per map and averaging 3 tags on ebg, handling ebb and flow of a 50+ BG zerg to now maybe 2 tags of 20-25 players across 4 maps at peak times equates to a servers death. Literally being steamrolled by the 8th place server.

The nightly frustration on ts by commanders in the remaining 4 raid guilds, the disenchanted talk of guides legitimatelyrics discussing leaving, and watching my original guild of 100 Raiders completely die to 2-4 players online/wvwing then joining a 500 members guild to find them exhausted/ frustrated and hemorrhaging at the seams.

Again…if the tarot cards say my server should be t3 or t1 I don’t care. The issue is the server killing combo of delinking and multi guild transfers under the guise of winning

I currently run close to metabattles DPS Berserker build and had ran the Shouts Frontline before I got HoT.

I have been sitting in GS most the time for burst and bags and acknowledge I could be in hammer for better support.

My toughness is pretty high and combined with invul can often be last man standing on a wipe. My damage probably not optimum. Mostly pvt and ppt.

Our guild leader had stated at one point he wanted hammer / x/shield on wars over GS. One of our drivers pushed a build that was fairly close to metabattles DPS Berserker with minor changes.

Does anyone have a newer wvw group meta for war? I’d assume on our guild raids that my goals are Frontline support/CC / survivability of frontline. I am very good at staying stacked on commander (sometimes I’m the only one on a zerg squirreling) so maybe pushing out boons would be good? But we do run party’s split up to spread rev/guards.

thanks for the I depth response. I’ll try your edits, I’m pretty casual due to three young kids at home but I also don’t want to suck and am trying to get this all figured out so I appreciate you taking the time to lay things out.

I’m in full zerker gear with +power/prec/crit trunks/upgrades, I’ve heard the toughness/vit comments before….what do I need to shoot for for toughness and vit/health without suffering too much damage loss ?Any should those stat edits happen with my armor or with my trinkets or upgrades?

Just curious because I’m d/d SB , 10/30/30/0/0 for wvw in zerker gear and it seems to work pretty well. But I am not sure how to tackle dungeons and be less squishy / more use full without full loss of dps

If you want to judge by current wvw action, I’m on dragonbrand and SOR / Blackgate are taking us by storm for the most part. Though I feel our server does have very hard pushes where we can take most of the center map, we don’t seem to do well anytime we tier up on a reset.

I’ve been in the same guild my hole Guild Wars 2 experience. And it seems like there’s never any members that are on and I’ve never seen guild chat. I do a lot of world vs world and I am experimenting with all the dungeons. Would like to join a guild that has active vocal players, on my server so that I can participate in guild groups for world vs world as well as dungeon runs.

Wesnoth.1705 , I agree with your assessment. I find it hard to jump into melee from the safety of range while being sooo squishy. My gear is very glasscannon for wvw and I am still not fully geared out plus my traits are setup semi-glass cannon. I suppose its mostly a confidence thing and knowing how the mobs attack for proper dodging.

Do you have any suggestions?

I by far do more damage at melee but I’m also so used to zerg tagging in wvw with sb that I have probably formed a bad habit, especially since I very rarely use sb in pve….something about seeing masses of mobs and wanting aoe. Aoe probably is causing me to catch too much agro.

I had this idea yesterday and maybe it has been though of before but here it goes….

Allow commanders to have their icon on the map be different colors….

Wow, sounds unbelievely simple….

But would allow for servers to start to form better zone communication so that flanking could be more successful as well as other tactics. Additionally would allow for things like in and out strike groups.

I see this going down as….

Commander 1 (blue) : all on my tag for south gate sm assault.
Commander 2 (red) : need two more ____ on my tag, we are flanking in from ____ behind enemy zerg.
Commander 3 (green) : stack on blue tag, my strike group is good to take out enemy siege

….etc etc etc….

: need few more on my tag for camp cap / supply runs

…..

I know this is all things that can or could already happen in wvw and also doesn’t apply to roamers / small guild grps

But I believe just that small addition of “colors” to the icons would give a ton of freedom to form better strategies at a very small programming cost for the developers

Give me your feedback guys if this is a neat idea or if I’m being stupid =p

I have still been a little thrown off from how these have been going down….I’ve had a lot of experience with WoW instances and they are surely a different breed. I noticed right off the bat with caudecus that these dungeons seem to be going at lightning speed. Perhaps it is mostly due to everyone else having experience and this being year old content. I’m used to slowly moving through dungeons/instances and having a slight per camp feel to each engagement. I will have to do some cursory research before my next dive in as well. Would love to find a group at some point to actually sit through the cut scenes as well. but is the nature of the beast and cof is a high farmed dungeon from what I’m told.

Additionally, thanks for the pointers Joe.8142, seems like a fun dungeon to mess around with….as I mentioned above, I had a group at least partially for story mode, and even a third the way through Rozgar The Forge I had figured out how to do damage and dodge him without being super kitten….so I am a fairly quick study. Same with the end of Sarrows Embrace, I had done the mass majority of the damage to the final boss compared to the rest of my group (though the guy providing heals was by far more pivotal to our success) once I had figured out how the battle worked.

colesy.8490 , sorry for the torture….I have learned a lot from these early runs….It is all do to my assumptions, I assumed I was getting invited into story mode, I assumed since people do story mode first that it was for inexperienced players mostly and I assumed because of that that the pace would be a whole ton slower…..So solely my fault….I will have to be more forward upfront as I go along, I’m sure that will either allow me better assistance from other players or for them to drop me until I am able to meet their speed, had to be a detriment to a group. Thanks for feedback

So after being 80 for awhile and running around exploring / personal story and wvw for weeks on end I decided to investigate the dungeon system.

I had heard from forums that people do speed runs but figured they would be either clearly marked or the group would require of me certain build/gear so not to burden them. With that I figured I just simply wouldn’t have to worry about these well geared farming groups because I could avoid them for now on gw2lfg or they wouldn’t invite me anyways.

So I started experimenting with gw2lfg and ran sparrows & caudecus with a pug….but I really wanted to start to get my hands on some cof flaming gear so I tuned in my focus to just getting into some cof grps.

First pug grp failed misreably after 2nd boss on story mode and fell apart. 2nd grp was in explorable p1 and fell apart within minutes.

So I was determined to get through this darn dungeon at least once.

Then I got invited to the grp in the video below, and my mind exploded with confusion as I tried desperately to figure out why my grp wasn’t attacking anything and running circuits.

A walkthrough of the wvwvw build Alderai is running…

Focus is Precision for Critical chance….

This Tutorial on this build is focused on the Trait selection…..

Some skill explanation and Armor selection is covered.

Weapon choice for build is Dagger/Dagger and Shortbow

This is a half glass cannon backstab build….

Once you get the hang of how the build runs, I have used it in dynamic events and personal story with great success. It isn’t as safe as a sword/dagger build or sword/pistol ,pistol whip build but with practice and mob management will allow you to take down veterans +2 additional

Shortbow is highly under rated but is quite wonderful in a nice crit build and can be used in this build nearly exclusively in wvw zergs
