A small part of me wonders if this has anything to do with hunting down and targeting Anet guild tags last week. Oh Well.
I killed anet tag probably about 6 times, mostly dbbl NE tower for AI guild, they couldn’t stay away from the wipe. So highly possible this is stink on us DB people, lmao.
We are actually doing a fair job at the moment even though green runs a mighty bloody chickenhead of a zerg

I play for guild/server pride and without it it is just spvp…why have 2 Spvp types when I have Spvp when I need it and WvW as my main mode., for reasons already stated.
Commander death in this case is a case of fear and demoralized squad or a commander that can’t stack or inspire. These are weak groups, usually pugmanders that break, back pedal and die.
Your pug tab reminds me of our often push into enemies 3rd on ebg and we will take down an outer tower’s wall and then leave the pugs to cap while we hit an inner tower. Not a sacrifice but works well when you are a tight guild squad with players who aren’t wxp greedy.
Why would anyone ever need to be mounted in this game? I’ve done all content without 1 easily and there is this feature call a waypoint.

Issue here is supply cost.
If you use blue print and supply to make regular and they throw a superior blue print upgrade on it you would skip the additional supply cost. Unless you’re saying that “upgrading” with superior blue print would make the siege back into build mode and require supply….in that case….trolls going to run around and just upgrade everything and leave it in build mode on 5min decay timer or burn your supply when not needed.
You know, when supply is a a premium.

My apologizes for being the naive voice, but as I’d like to be rational on that topic, I want to do some maths, and I’m now facing a fundamental yet really easy issue : what is it you’re really comparing ?
I’m positive DPS (Damage Per Second) now translates as raw damage, as in “power build”, while DOT (Damage Over Time) points more towards condis builds. Unfortunately, to do some maths, you need to put things square. You can’t compare damage and damage “divided by a given amount of time”.
So the first step is to define what exactly you want to put into balance. For example, you can compare the damage delt by 100 blades in a full berserker set (4916 without crits), and the total damage delt by Flame burst in a full dire set (4136 with no duration bonus).
But it neglects the fact that flame burst will take twice as long to deal it.Likewise, if you consider raw power damage over time, you’re including things like the time taken to close gaps.
All this to say that it’s not just a matter of damage vs. survivability, and much more needs to be taken into account. And I’m not saying everything is fine ; don’t take me wrong.
Yes and if we take away ALL damage negating boons like resistance, protection, reflection etc…. DoTs follow you unlike melee dps and have unlimited range after initial apply unlike range dps. Additionally dps is affected by toughness which changes your numbers where as DoTs ignore toughness. Just saying for argument sake.

I think it’s more likely that the xpac tries to make resistance more of a thing and claims that solves the problem.
Oh resistance you little devil….nothing like popping resistance, diving through bomb , annilating enemy and having resistance run its course as 500stacks of confidence explode you into dust in 1 tick while you are in a blood crazed frenzy of the enemies backline.

Once one server captured smc and upgraded it to t3, all they do is sitting with 20 million sieges. The other two don’t even think of coming out until they get a tag or guild.
I think wvw would be more active both in prime time and off prime time without smc.I recommend deleting SMC because deleting the kids and ruining their hopes are what I play this game for.
Bah I think they need to actually enhance smc…mobe the Lord up and make more floors….harder to defend / kill stealthrts but equally harder to take if you got to fight floor by floor. I say 5 floors instead of current 3. Put Lord on like 4th. Make siege hit Lord from 5th and 3rd so both sides can run siege.
Guards are standard fare but I come across necro and Lee frequently. Our guild leader commands on necro but all our other commanders are guards.
Being better has little to do with it these days. It all comes down to class and build vs class and build.
That is positive way to think. Thing just is that WvW roamers don’t actually know how to play so it’s natural that players who play easier build wins.
Blanket statements are nearly never true.
There are rosters that “know how to play” and there are pve’ers who roam with a faceroll and hope.
I’ve spvp a 17k/0d before but that doesn’t equate to either knowledge/ build cheese or skill. There are piles upon piles of factors 8n every encounter. In the given example, I had cursory understanding of cc/burst in a build outside my normal play range and 3 runs of experience which would equate to mostly build cheese, luck and matchup vs under experienced players with maybe….maybr a dusting of skill and class understanding carry over.

So perhaps it’s your gear/build or you aren’t calling the fight outcome early enough. Again, I’m built for group game a fair well 1v1 most of the time....but I feel I am a good judge of the tide of battle and knowing when to press / retreat / pop resistance or invul has a lot to do with success.
Thieves and engineers you can read by their damage if it’s too hot or if they can be slowed/ melted. Mesmers are easy sauce if you can focus...I’ve 1v2 double mesmers and got them downed together 5 times before I finally was downed, if consider that a win. Rangers are paper if you can bridge gaps and keep pressure.
Solo revs can be rough depending on build but if you aren’t doing damage then just get out, same with bunker guards, if it’s taking too long, just leave.
Now I chased an ele once and was flabergas on her mobility, evade timing and reset...10min melee that I lost....seemed unreal...and there is evidence there when it feels unreal that something is fishy, I assumed hack because I could swear at one point they teleported but I had the inkling perhaps I was dealing with a pro-roamer...so logged into twitch and low and behold they are the top streamer. Watched them fight for 15mins and then messaged them on twitch, confirmed we had fought and they explained my mistake.
If you absolutely get taken on a fight like that where you did a ton of right things and dropped them to 5% multiple times...check twitch and learn even more directly off your foe. Humbled but educated.
Gift of battle is 1000x easier for pve’ers then gift of exploration is for wvw’ers.

Level 60 minimum is only on the free to play accounts that require at least one character to 60 to unlock wvw for the entire account.
OP has the expansion, they should be able to enter wvw from level 2 if they can find their way to lion’s arch and through the wvw portals. Or wait to unlock the wvw panel on the menu bar, which I don’t exactly remember when that is, maybe around level 20. You can also get to lion’s arch through the spvp panel, which would port you to heart of the mists, the hub for spvp, and then you can take the lion’s arch portal there.
As for going in wvw under 80, you will always be boosted to level 80 as well as the stats from the gear you’re currently wearing, in fact sometimes you can stack certain stats like power and be able to boost that stat slightly above normal. I believe the lowest you can start getting exotics is from level 30’s.
Just a warning that many players in there are already level 80 and using level 80 exotic/ascended gear runes and sigils, which would give them the advantage in stats, as well as unlocked all their skills and traits, which is also a huge advantage. So don’t be discouraged if you’re getting beat up pretty fast. You can also spend some time in eotm(edge of the mist) to get a feel for easier wvw fighting.
Also since you have the expansion you probably got the free level 80 boost, which would permanently boost one character to level 80, as well as provide you with a full set of level 80 exotic armor/weapons/runes/sigils for that character. The boost can be used as a trial so you can try different classes and see what they are like at 80.
A general majority of players you will see will be in full ascended, optimised gear/builds, full infusions and HoT runes.
Now that’s not to say things are hopeless, I have leveled a character to 80 in every game mode / instant 80 and books. So I have taken a character from about 20 to 80 exclusively in wvw.
My suggestion to get enough skill slots unlocked is to pve to atleast 20.
Also keep in mind that what ever you do, don’t solo roam for 1v1 on your non80. 1v1ers will god mode burn you in seconds…see my first sentence.

We are on Darkhaven, our server has been broken for almost a year now. We have been in the higher tiers when we were linked with FA. We have fought the best Guilds. Still not breaking us, never will.
Yeah our linking with you guys has been interesting. You darkhaven folks ppk a bit more then us db’ers who concentrate a bit more on ppt. Not saying extremely but it’s noticeable the slight change in your focus over ours with your 3 major guilds generally in ebg.
It’s been good though, you want fights and it clears up Shio’s PDF and my many many Gods to do other work.
Last night for example ran 3 tags in ebg, one of your organized, a pugmancer and a db organized and it was clear you guys pushing open fights outside smc, pugmancer cleaning up 3rd and back capping and our organized pushing smc Lord. It is refreshing change of dynamic to our usual organized hard push ppt guilds and the omniblob.

Sometimes I am amazed, I think it was NW tower, the South cata wall was down and the enemy somehow dragged the supervisor out of the tower. They left as we came to defend from garrison and the supervisor was clearing siege outside of tower. Was odd to find.

No one is being one-shot by 7.5k hammer bolts from a slow weapon. Consider using blocks, reflects, or some other form of defence if you’re really having that much trouble with it. As for CoR, it’s slow and has a clear telegraph which moves forward along the ground. I’ve been hit by it twice since the release of Rev and neither of those were a one-shot.
Man, (assuming the numbers are accurate) there’s no justification for 7.5k auto attacks. At range is even sillier.
I can only assume the number is either bogus or glass canon melt , which would be terrible frontline without optimum group carry

They should if they hit damage threshold…I usually run by the thought that 1k damage is minimum aim for loot on wvw bag farm…I’ve rifle butted people off cliffs in air region of desert and hills on alpine for easy bag

Well that’s a very “let’s incite angry players” kind of post.
The day in question, DB was out manned on all borderlands and where in a state of being steamrolled with all man on deck call outs against this particular garri grab and didn’t stand a chance defending it. This was not an empty or undefended keep.
Additionally, someone higher up in this thread said “if anet claims, blob up”. The problem with that statement is that the situation in question was a situation of mass numbers from a higher tier sever (mag) who rolled down a tier and stomped vs a already demoralized lower tier (DB) who didn’t own any structures. Add insult to injury and you have the anet claim of our last hold out.
You folks are forgetting the core OP of this thread that this anet claim followed a complete and utter server stomp. We have already all argued anets “right to play their own game” etc etc and the difference between a camp/tower claim vs a keep claim. But this particular situation is a cherry on a sundae event. Hell….even the claim that anet needed to guild claim this structure for upgrades becuase the guild running the raid already had a structure is flawed, for for anet to take this great joy and smiles to believe with a 100% own of all of their enemies points that they would also be upgrading all the keeps on enemy alpine borderlands proves that this “employee” literally 1- doesn’t care about the demoralization of game players and 2- has a complete inability to recognize how broken the mode is if they are happy and willing to claim this particular structure during this particular complete and utter stomp.
Way to reinforce /ragequit of the server you are not on “anet employee”. It is such a clouded eyes action that it isn’t even funny.
Anet coming into this thread to scream support of how beneficial it is that they play the game they slave at is also blind to the example they give to the players they apparently cherish…you know…these poor slobs that pay in your cash shop which pays your bills.

Hello, I have 3.3k Armor and I got hit by a 15k Arc Divider whilst in shroud with almost full hp (shroud was below 50%), is this working as intended? This isn’t the first time ive seen such large numbers but even skills like coalescence of ruin normally only crit me for 5k, This seems a bit excessive and seems to ignore armor value.
Unless you’re a camp supervisor, I don’t believe it without proof. I arc divider atleast 36,000x a day and can tell you for a fact that that’s around a full boon stack ppvf hit on a lord…think I cap at 19k…but again, I don’t keep track generally. On players….maybe 3k
Ok, seems there are a few concerns, so let me give some info here (with no slight intended for the OP or anyone else participating in this thread):
- We encourage our team members to play the game. Many of us do. This is a good thing for the game and for the community! This is good for every aspect of the game, from PvP, to WvW, to PvE, and beyond.
- Sometimes playing the game in a competitive sense means.. you win! It doesn’t seem fair to suggest that a developer — who has absolutely no advantage on the live game — should back off, or intentionally take a dive, or move to a different server. After all, it’s likely they are and have been a participating member of a particular world for some time, and moving isn’t reasonable, nor is it required, nor should it be expected. I’m on a world that isn’t highly competitive, but I don’t find myself feeling the urge to move to a higher-ranked world. Conversely, if my world suddenly becomes competitive, I won’t be shuffling out of there to satisfy some edge-case expectation of me as a player or staff member.
- No one is required to represent the ArenaNet guild. In fact, no one at the company is even required to join the Anet guild. Both are entirely voluntary. I rep other guilds, sometimes, but I rep Anet most of the time because that’s my choice. Other members of my team are not members of the guild at all. It’s very much an individual decision.
- We don’t have a fully decked out guild hall if you mean in the decoration sense. You should have seen me scrambling to decorate for Wintersday. I’ve thought of taking up scribing to do more. Quite frankly, I feel we have a real dearth of decorations and going to other guilds’ halls to see how they decorate is always a treat for me, because they do it so well!
- Did I mention ArenaNet playing ArenaNet’s game is a good thing?
Ok, going to jump in here, Gaile (and btw, thanks for all the communication lately, it’s been sorely lacking here) and I have been meaning to send an email to you guys (I think I may have even sent a mb message to someone here?), so thanks for starting this thread, everyone.
As a former community manager for a variety of very large companies, including America Online (where I interacted with a large number of online game developers, assisting them with building community), the Anet symbol above someone’s keep or garrison, especially a losing server, as in the one beginning this thread, is a PR nightmare for you guys, TRUST ME.
When you do that, you 1) completely alienate a large number of players from a PR standpoint, whom you do not need hating on you or quitting your game (right?), and 2) you lose any perceived objectivity, as the developer and/or community liaison, coming from the WvW community.
So, yes, of course you are allowed to play and enjoy your own game, however, please know that claiming large objectives (small objectives seem to be taken in stride) is causing you a whole lot of negative perception within your WvW player base. Even if you claim large objectives on all different worlds, they immediately forget about it when you claim something large on their world, trust me. I state this with absolute certainty, as I play WvW on a number of different servers and some of the very players I see posting here defending your rights to claim, I have also heard complaining about it in Team Chat, when you do it to them.
I’m just sayin’ – take it for what you will.

And in this case…we are talking about a server who was being spawn camped in ebg with 0 structures owned and in home BL had no keeps but garri and was losing big time….60 tick? If I recall….anet claiming the last important location for a whole server is a punch in the face and very demoralizing.
I am not saying you shouldn’t have the right to play or claim but the comments here by both players and anet that it’s no big deal and that people need to “act like adults” and not “whine” when they lose are missing the big picture.
It’s a rage quit atmosphere we all have to overcome when our server is being absolutely pwned and every one of us have had to deal with that and people do quit for the week or permanently when it happens…
But adding on top of that, the cherry on a pile of demoralizing poo cake is an anet claim to your last bastion of hope.
My server, like many….has 3-5 tags running at prime time every night….after that night, we have 0-1. 3 of my guild drivers haven’t even logged into gw2 this week and one of our drivers…a guy who somehow plays gw2 like 12hrs a day and works full time…always present in wvw, never absent…was in spvp yesterday…
There is an air of dismay by losing, and yes…we all get our turn….but that move on a nets part is extra disheartening.
What builds/skills do you find OP and in what context?
My short list:
DH – Rotational defense combined with passive defense is too strong
Necro – Deathly Chill is crushing it in skirmish. Epi is still an issue.
Thief – Ever-vade builds, Ghost Thief
Warrior – The passive Signet heal needs an adjustment downwards
Mesmer – Condi Chrono for a variety of reasons needs to meet a nerf bat
You’re funny, warrior signet heal is fine. You might be thinking of adrenal health stacks off primal burst
It is sad when DB map chat became excited because Mag was taking garri so we didn’t have to see that ANet tattoo on garri. This game breaks my heart sometimes and this week after the last one is certainly trying.

That’s really disheartening to hear. Correct me if I’m wrong about this, but the point here isn’t so much about whether or not developers can play or should play in WvW. I think you’d be hard pressed to find any active WvW player who DOESN’T want more developers to be active in the game mode. The trouble here is more on the PR-side. Doing something like this has terrible optics. Is that really how you want your organization, company in this instance, to be perceived? The answer is obvious.
Right, why not claim under another guild tag, you’re allow 5 guilds and hell…anet employees could have a non demoralizing guild name that’s fully upgraded in addition to the tag they run around “show casing”
Additionally, why, if they are “off clock” are they repping the company guild. Wouldn’t it be easier to be in the shadows then the spot light during your “casual” play.

This perma porting has been prevented by using those markes which is one of the best features they added yet. If you have problems hiding with thief even with stealth, you fail hard. Why? Since the marker is bugged, you go stealth and the dot doesnt move, you do. So stop crying.

As it stands, mesmer are the only stealth classes with team advantage when inside a nonbreached structure. Other classes are going to do what in there by themselves? Contest or 1v1 gank? They aren’t an asset to team being inside an enemy structure other then as a scout.
The silly idea was simply to give another class a utility to get others into a fully repaired structure but also to not be OP. Hensel channeling and CD.

Seems like a very gimmicky idea. 3 minute easily interuptable cast time would be near impossible to channel, unless you had others to perma stealth you (patrols on higher tier keeps, 1500 range archers etc). In which case I’d wonder why you don’t just carry on taking the keep, if you were already on inner or lords.
edit: if you had a group waiting on getting a mes inside, couldn’t they just setup siege and take the walls/gates down in a shorter amount of time than 3 minutes?

It’s so hilarious the assumptions T1 makes about lower tiers. We use rams and catas to take towers/keeps just like you buddy. Only people of PvD are massive ktrain T1 blobs.

DB will be fine. Mag attempted to keep troll both us and YB yesterday and demoralize us for the week. Didn’t work.
Mag blob is a false flag and it is blob or not play mentality. This works for DB very well becuase we have great all day coverage and asian/sea guilds…let mag try and own us in prime time…just time to hunker, distract and pull attention.

If you are doing your job, your inventory fills up so quick that you need to hold them chests in stasis for later
Also, give thieves an elite that they can teleport one person through a wall to them (mesmers) but make it a 3min channel skill easily interrupted with a 15min cool down
