Here’s a picture I took at Klovan last night. Our trebs from SM couldn’t hit BG trebs(they were on top of the supply depot) in Klovan so we had to move to manually take them out to defend SM. It was an epic battle to say the least. We didn’t take klovan, but we got the trebs! Keep in mind this was really late last night. People were starting to doze off since it was mostly NA players with backup from other borderlands for a last stand SM defense. As you can see there is an FA, ICoa, KnT, choo, CDS, GGSH presence.

See that BG pugs? They focus fire!

That was some epic battles, we got in SM lords room quite a few times, needed just a bit more presence and we’d have taken it sooner. Was very close, good fights to the bitter end.

We are not going to pull out of TC BL and fight BG on two fronts. That would be a disservice to a quality opponent. If BG blows us out so be it, they earned their shot at Tier 1 weeks ago.

You got the right to do whatever you want, ofcourse.

But the result is very, very simple: you are fighting one enemy with half your force and another enemy with the other half. Instead of fighting one enemy with your whole force.

The result can be seen in the score: BG wins 33,000 ranking points and SoR looses 27,000 ranking points. This result will stay that way untill we fight differently.

A lot of SoR is still on vacation/break. I’m sure TC is having the same issue as well. We have been playing with 50-75% less of our usual forces this week and the score shows it.

I’ve been pretty sick as well so I haven’t really been able to duke it out on the battlefield.

While there are some skilled players on Blackgate, the vast majority are mindless zerglings that jumped on the bandwagon … they will be the first to ragequit when they can’t depend on sheer numbers to win anymore. As soon as the numbers even out, Blackgate will be in the bottom of the bracket because they don’t know any other strategy besides “zerg zerg zerg!”

Yea, the 15+ guilds committed to 24/7 coverage will all quit the second we lose our first tower.

Mostly I was giving TC some ribbing to watch out. Their garrison Lord hasn’t had dishpan hands in sometime, and BG has plenty of dishes that need washing after the party celebrating our early lead over SoR. We promise to give him a 15min break, and a half hour for lunch. ha ha

WvW would be balanced if we didn’t have massive amounts of non-US players joining US servers just so they could dominate. It’s quite cowardice IMO.

WvW is balanced. Everyone has the right to go and recruit new guilds to their server.

To the SoR who accuse TC of not fighting BG.

If it weren’t for TC’s push against cragtop, and into garrison (and controlling garrison’s supply) your ever powerful SoR NA primetime wouldn’t have gotten Garrison for quite a while yet. (also, maybe you should defend your own borderlands too? We loved having your garrison as much as you had ours).

Pink runs a great defense on TCBL night after night, and has solid tactics, and doesn’t run when we look at them funny. Anyone who says anything different doesn’t know what they are talking about. Here is how our VoIP goes.

Be warned TC. After the garrison double team, you may find your borderlands with a few more green invaders next reset. :P

I am going to make a simple point, try to get what I’m saying and not misunderstand.

This applies to all servers that have > coverage than their opponents, not just BG.

There is an assumption that when we win because we have more active players in WvW (coverage) it means that we do not deserve or earn it.

This is NOT true!

Everyone acts like numbers on BG is an accident. All guilds on BG have worked TIRELESSLY to actively recruit players into guilds across all timezones. We recruited from PvEers and WvW PuGs to fill all timeslots. You act as if its some sort of random draw. We EARNED the coverage we currently have, because we worked for it.

We did not start receiving server transfers until after three weeks of winning with said “coverage”. These guilds, while making us stronger and we appreciate that greatly, were not here the first three weeks we beat SoR and IoJ. They are a RESULT of beating SoR and IoJ, not a CAUSE. These transfers happened because there are guilds that recognize that BG plays the long game (timeslot recruitment) as well as the short game of continuing to make our existing guilds stronger, more numerous, better geared with better tactics.

Do not come into the forum, and act as if we do not deserve our wins because we outnumber our opponents. We have tirelessly recruited and trained in those timeslots. Its an insult to all server’s night crews when you downplay the importance of their timeslot, including your own.

The longer BG stays the color green, the more we will recruit and train. There will come a day when we switch to red. That day, we will see how we hang with the best servers in the game. Until then, SoR and now TC will continue to push us and make us keep one step ahead of you, and competition breeds excellence.

The BG guild alliance is in this for the long haul.

what you guys call coverage is in reality more tighter knitted guilds working together to cover all time slots, in fact we have more tight knitted community than you do as evidenced by hour round the clock “coverage”.

SoR does well in BGBL during NA primetime because TW forms the zerg, and Choo the 10-15 man off team. CDS is often in SORBL. If BG had the covereage everyone claims, we would be able to hit your BL while you hit ours.

BTW, i am much more worried about where Choo`s 15 are than TWs 40 lol. You have nice tactics gentlemen.

Wondered how long we would go before someone on black gate had to point out the scoreboard.
Most of black gate can go do pve/jump puzzles/whatever at any time through out the week and it’ll barely change anything. Gotta love being carried by your night crew aye? =P

Are we losing the matchup? Yes. Are we gaining ratings? OH HELL YES.

Don’t get too excited about that. History has shown that a server generally is expected to gain rating during its first week in a tier. We’ll probably either gain a small positive next week or dip anywhere from 0.1 to 20 points.

This week’s scoring doesn’t matter for two important reasons:
1. Blackgate has a new opponent, which means they can’t go as strongly positive this week as they’re no longer beating Isle of Janthir. This usually results in the top server in the tier tanking in points. TC experienced this when CD and YB swapped places in Tier 3.

2. It’s the holiday, and so population coverage has been shuffled around. We won’t get a realistic representation of how well Blackgate and Sanctum of Rall face up against Tarnished Coast until at least this coming Tuesday (when Blackgate is back in action after the weekend).

Due to these two factors, our score this week does nothing but confirm that we’ll be here next week. It doesn’t accurately represent our ability to play in the tier. We won’t understand how well we’re doing until this time next week when things are more normalized.

What if I told you that screenshot came from someone within ICoa?

Not everyone takes WvW as this super serious all or nothing war, I happen to have friends within the guild and one of them sent me that screenshot in hopes of getting a rise out of someone on the forums.

It succeeded, it was a joke, please don’t take it for anything beyond that.

If a BG player, or God forbid, an ICoa, took a picture of SoR commanders giving orders and posted it here. You SoR, covenn first in line, would come unglued. You’d say we are earning our hackgate reputation, that it is the only reason we are winning because of hacks, that if we were really serious about not letting people hack we’d find this person, and publicly shame him until he moves servers. That we’d have no excuse because we had his account name right here on the forums for all to see.

Knowing enemy movements is much more of an unfair advantage than a single thief that looks like its shooting a few too many short bow #5 (the person frapsing probably had his effects turned down on his comp), or a few people standing in invulnerable spots on the map, but everyone goes insane about that on all sides. Yet no one even raises an eyebrow, in fact they condone it, and say its just a joke.

That thief was just doing it as a joke. And besides, not everyone takes WvW seriously here guys? Can’t you take a joke? Why are you so serious. He just did it to get a rise out of you SoR, and look, it succeeded!

The fight has been great so far. but after seeing hat Little asura mesmer at 12:30 pst wearing flame legion armor from icoa Guild trying to jump glitch in to our keep. that kinda makes me hope that doesn’t keep going on. As for the thief issue. I admit the heartseeker animation is off. With 425 members, and probably 3x that many characters as many of us have up to 3 toons, it will be hard to track down one thief, unless any of us see this mysterious new porting hack.

On a brighter note, TC, super fun pulling an all nighter against you in EB. Sm had more walls down than up. We got it repaired and full of supply for the morning crew though

BTW, where would you go after taking RQ? We think you ported back every time. It was like chasing a ghost.

You don’t think watching where commander icons are moving would be beneficial for defense? They can see where the commanders call for map rallies and watch where anyone with an icon is leading zergs. Maybe most of your guild’s tactics only happen in guild chat, but we work very well and communicate with our PUGs on BG.

Come on guys, its a straight up admission and proof of using frowned upon tactics. And it is simply ignored.

Does anyone else find it interesting that an SOR posts proof that he has spies on our server and it is ignored.

If any evidence of questionable behavior such as exploiting or wall jumping occurs, both SoR leaders as well as BG leaders have standing declarations to deal with offenders ASAP.

Well, I apologize for the part my posts played in closing the last thread and solomnly promise not to debase or critisize servers in general.

Now, i think this is on topic, i hope so.

There are several top BG guilds willing to GvG, especially later in the week, if other guilds were to privately contact the their leaders. So far the rules have been to keep specifics and bragging off the forums, and Im sure they will stay that way.

There was fun, and good sportsmenship to be found, and no chest thumping or flameing as a result. Good times overall i think.

Anyway, hope that’s on topic.

BG guilds are fighting other guilds. We fought all night. However, part of the rules were no forum postings on it. Which is why i wont say which guilds or who won. We had a lot of fun.

As for the rest.

You dont consider strategies of wars of attrition arent legitemate? You dont think we pull off hard pushes against SOR right when they spent three days working hard to take the lead in two separate weeks in order to ake them quit for the week? Or focus SOR when IOJ are close to passing them? These are meta strategies we pull off specifically because we are organized. We dont have a huge zerg on each map at all times. we are organized and have scouts on every map telling our zerg where to port to counter. Couple of hours of this, the enemy gives up.

These are specific strategies, not just blind numbers you seem to think they are.

Im not saying BG is number 1. We are number 4. Soon we may move up a notch, but dont dismiss our recruiting and determination as blind numbers games. Because thats just not the case

First let me clear the air a bit. I posted a couple tongue in cheek posts thats humor didnt go over well. And i may have misunderstood a post or two i quoted (long day yesterday). Sorry for both.

Now that that is out of the way…

I see a ton of posts implying that blackgates success is only due to coverage and numbers and not skill, and therefore we dont deserve our success. There are a few things you guys aren’t realizing.

BG has worked hard to cultivate these numbers. We advo in cursed shores and LA when we push as a server. Our very skilled commanders communicate in /map and /say with the pugs to bring them into the strategy. They also make sure to lead pug groups to gold event medal after gold event medal and make sure to keep them from wiping. A few nights of this and these pugs start coming back every night because they have found out WvW is pretty fun. Eventually these guys join WvW guilds and become part of the daily battles.

Ive already mentioned how skilled BGs EB pugs are. Usually the guilds just send a handfull of commanders and a 5 man team and the skilled pugs do the lions share of the work while the power guilds work all three BLs. This does not happen by accident, it takes every night working hard to make this work.

So, after a few weeks of this what happens? Other guilds decide to join the community. And who would blame them?

Now the thread is filled with stackgate and accusations of not earning our deserved wins because of bandwagoners. This happens in the VERY same thread of posts begging, BEGGING! IOJ and SOR to merge servers to beat BG, who has built our coverage by deeds.

And when pot attempts to point out the hypocracy hes crusified.

Yes we BG posters are defensive, but with posts and attitudes like this can you really blame us?

The proof is in the pudding. Guilds are moving over because BG has a rep of solid play, despite what the forum warriors of SOR and IOJ would like you to believe.

It is strange to me that instead of working on recruitment and getting better organized, some on SOR are complaining about low levels in Wvw?

Can’t you see that a lvl 50 learning WvW means a lvl 80 that knows what he’s doing in a few weeks?

And if that lvl 50 has a lvl 80 that he “should” be playing in WvW and that player is already skilled, then you are missing the advantage that having skilled WvW with multiple lvl 80s brings to the table in terms of flexibility.

Either way, you guys aren’t thinking long term. You complain about coverage gaps in one post, then about players in training in the next.

BG EB’s PUGs are the best in the game. These guys rally behind commanders, always bring supply, flip camps/NPCs, rally to defence in 1 call, call out incomings and enemy zerg locations, all without being asked. This is a big reason for BGs dominance in EB. This is the result of people logging on and lvling a character only by WvW. And you want to discourage that?

If you are feeling unloved on SOR leveling an alt or two, yes, head over to BG. He said sarcastically “they apparently need you there”. Yes, we do. We aren’t #1 in tier 1 yet. Because THAT is what we are playing for. Not 2nd place in tier 2. We are growing, moving, training. Building our server alliance, our guilds and our PUG base. He implies they don’t want you. Well come to where you are appreciated, because in the long run, being happy with 5th place will get you in IOJ’s shoes, mass transfers off your server.

Come on over, play whatever toon you like. We have a good time on BG.

You guys see that new SOR commander taking over in BGBL? Man he was really great. I think hes going to turn the match around for you guys. He led like a team of 5 SOR expertly to take a tower, and a keep in record time. No joke this guy is top notch skill. He must be a ranger, cuz he’s got a dolyak for a pet.

Only funny thing was, is that I could see his commander tag even though I’m not on SOR.

I think it would have taken less effort to build a ballista than complain on the forums.

I think its pretty obvious that every third week Blackgate takes a break. It happened two weeks ago. Then we get extra sleep, while SOR get less. Then in a few days, when SOR is tired, we log back on and crush.

It has nothing to do with finals, or work or anything else. BG can put up the numbers, and come back from any deficit in this tier. How long will we stay tier 2? Hard to say, probably until someone in tier 1 or SOR gets burnt out. Until then, expect us to stay Green for a long time, no matter what the scores are on Tuesday.

These are great fights, I can log on at anytime and find fun. Good times.
