Why is it always Deso players that come here and extol about such hardships that other servers have had to face for a much longer time?
The drama-meter is over the top with that server.
Unless they visit every server 24/7 for a sample period, they’re subject to the same issues as the “he who screams loudest on the forum gets his way” laws.
The polls are really the better accurate measure of overall player views.

My first experience with EU wvw was vs Kodash.
Four trebs in the swamp by Golanta, with 6 catas and then ballis and acs, all manned, open field. Was gobsmacked lol.
Was even more impressed by scouting Klovan, and see a single Kodash thief, then BOOM! Five golems at the gate with a massive blob; all coordinated/veiled by thieves, and instantly appearing as out of thin air.

Hey everyone,
I wanted to address the idea of moving world linking to monthly instead of every 2 months, since it is being brought up more and more frequently.
The team isn’t opposed to this idea; we actually think it would be beneficial to move to monthly because it would allow us to iterate faster on how we are calculating which worlds should be linked. However, the main reason for not doing this right now is the matchmaking algorithm, Glicko. Each time we shuffle worlds via world linking it takes about 4 weeks’ worth of matches before Glicko begins to reliably match make those new worlds into balanced matches. If we did world linking monthly, Glicko would not be able to create balanced matchups.
Our next priority poll is going to be asking if players would rather have us work on adding rewards to skirmishes (and possibly other feedback items being collected from this thread) or replace Glicko matchmaking with a 1-up 1-down system (wherein the winner moves up a tier and the loser moves down a tier.) The 1-up 1-down system should work better with monthly linkings than Glicko, so we are most likely going to hold off on 1 month linkings until that system is in.
Another possibility we could pursue is 1 month linkings, but use the Glicko offset system to guarantee the matches. Alternatively, we could manually change Glicko ratings to what we believe they should be for each world. Either option would force worlds to start out closer to being in the correct tier and thus give better matches faster. These options are contentious, so even if everyone on the forums seemed to like this idea it would be something we would poll on.

See what I would do is just tag up and offer an option to follow a commander. People will naturally gravitate to the guy who is inclusive and encourages all forms of team play.
And then buddy with his “rules” will wonder where his blob went.

They could remove all skill-based graphics and that would remove the lag in big fights, but then you’d have to guess at what was killing you.
The radius reduction of aoe targets was an attempt to alleviate it, but they can only go so far.

Also, after this matchup, I’d really love to hear what the devs are planning for the future.

I think things will eventually even out and those seeking lower pop fights will find them.
I actually predict a resurgence in interest in GW2 come fall, after kids are back in school, looking for RVR and finding only one option (if you like ESO you’d be playing it).
It should be a priority really.
It’s endgame for a lot of folks and it provides engaging play for the past four years.
What they need to realize is motivation of that passion though.
It’s not guilds.
It’s servers.
Capitalize on that attachment and boost it back up, with special rewards for each server (that would gain Anet some coin actually with loot chasers)… a title, a unique piece of designed armour for each server (make it chest piece please), you have people hooked. I would love to see unique armour made for each server (which will only encourage the collectors, but they’ll move anyhow).
I was very happy to see folks attached to changes to server. That means community lives there.
Pay attention to that: it’s the reason other big MMOs have survived with subs. *(Investment) for more than 10 years.
Other side of that is you don’t jump/stomp, you make a new friend. Just had a guy from Holland who had a European vacation with all the people he met in wvw. Surfed for two full months at people’s houses.
All from a simple /bow.
Ever since they reduced wall hp with the return of alpine it’s been mucked up.
They certainly couldn’t have it the same as dbl wall hp, but now you can do all sorts of things (including hitting outer and inner at the same time).

I’m actually grateful for the polls or we would be back to “he who yells loudest” form of game development. Even if I wasn’t thrilled about the cannons and repair hammer, I’m willing to accept what the majority wants, rather than caving to a temper tantrum.

It’s statistics. Larger population = more bodies to die, which affects ratios.

Queues and war score multipliers have already been suggested to fix population imbalance. Both ideas have been shot down for good reasons.
Tyler Bearce listed population rebalancing as one of the goals of the Scoring changes.
- In conjunction with population rebalancing, updating Scoring allows us to decide a winner of a match more fairly, and thus reward players more fairly
- Currently we can’t give out worthwhile rewards for winning, as most match-ups are already decided before they begin

Best guesstimate puts it at 80 per map max. But they may have upped it a bit with the linkings. Take a screen grab and count em up

Ok, maybe you enjoy such cat and mouse games, I don’t. I dont wanna secretly ppt maps, i wanna fight cause (big surprise comes now!) it’s a pvp mode and therefore i am not that much interested in pvd.
But facing server who are constantly outnumbering you or are close to non existent during the day (hello baruch bay) and have insane blobbs after 11pm as well, there is not much fighting.
Don’t have to pvd to break up a blob. Jumping maps reduces their numbers.

Deso was paired almost every match except the most recent, and you never saw anyone from Deso on the forums complaining.
That said, I think EU should revert back the way it was before linking, as the linking was mostly to fix an NA issue, and EU (for the most part) was fine as separate servers.

Might not be a hack. I have 3 screens set with surround view. I can hit places with an AC that people with one screen can never reach. Field of view option can also do this sometimes.

Seems to be an issue when they reduced the wall HP.
I’m NA, east coast, I actually get better ping in EU than I do on my NA account.
I’m not sure you’d get the same on the west side of the continent tho.
NA prime time you’re looking at smaller skirmishes, not big blobbing — but it’s still there. Just prepare yourself to be scrappy. I actually found after I moved to EU three years ago from NA, that I really learned my class and, at least for me, I improved dramatically.
Example of EU: Dude! We have outmanned on map and there’s an enemy blob here why the heck are you trying to flip SM?!!

If your guild is truly spectacular and you’ve found a home, then move to them. If you can’t move to them because the server is full, then either convince them to move to a lower tier, or find another guild. Sorry.
What you’re suggesting is a way to jam in more people into already full/overcrowded servers via the guild tied to servers method. You’d be shoving out people who are already there.
