Congratulations! That’s awesome!
Tarnished Coast is the unofficial US RP server .. Piken Square for Euro.
that sounds like a painful kitty problem
No, it should give you a complete set of that specific gear. Look up the chest piece for details on the stats — you can do the same by buying each piece individually .. the box just lets you get all the same gear in one double click.
Is there a way I can search for a player by name to find the server they are on?
Posted by: Jayne.9251
The free transfer will end soon though. If you know the handle, typically you’ll get a list of players with that handle — I believe while searching she has to be online though, so that doesn’t help.
Have you tried emailing/calling her?
Thank you kindly guys. That answers it
Hrm are exotics from map completion at a certain level? I’ve yet to get a single one and I’ve completed about five or six areas….
Would love to have an answer on this! Is it just that I’ve been unlucky .. or are they more likely to be rewarded at higher levels?
Hrm, dunno then hon .. it could be they proc on crit hits? I just play and am delighted to see them swooping down from time to time. But that’s key too … it’s not every fight, it’s — for me at least — every third fight or so.
Wondering why your drops off mobs are suddenly diminishing after an hour of farming for items?
GW2 has an anti-farm code built in:
You should add this to the OMG new player’s sticky at top .. useful!
I use two of these and the birds come pretty regularly .. they aren’t bright white, but rather dark in colour .. could be you’re just missing seeing them swoop down in the battle? And I’m an elementalist btw.
Want to know about more jumping puzzles?
Open your hero window, click on achievement tab on the left hand side, then click on explorer. Near the bottom is a list of all jumping/puzzles you’ve yet to complete and lists the ones you have done.
And YAY! Thank you for making this a sticky!
To create the recipe for satchels of armour from the mystic forge you’ll need:
From NPC vendor
crystals
bottles of wine
From map daily quota reward (or from trading post):
mystic coins
Then you put in typically a chest piece you’ve made and will get a satchel recipe that makes all six pieces of gear of that type in one combine, from blue, green, yellow and up.
Bear in mind that the Mystic Forge is a gamble, typically you’ll get something useful out of it, but sometimes you’ll get trash. So don’t use it with items you will be sorry to lose.
Also for mystic forge:
You can combine any weapons and armour as one of the four items you have to put in, and it’ll return a brand new item. Great for cleaning out a bulging bank. But you must use four of similar items: you cannot combine blue and green gear, and you must put in all jewelery, or all crafting components, but for some reason you can mix armour with weapons.
Putting in four dyes will get you a new random one.

I went back and did the starter regions for each race in my mid-30s and that got me about three levels per map just completing the maps/events …. From 40 to 45 there are at least three entire map areas to do. Go explore other regions ….

There’s a broken sewer grate near mystic forge under water …. Swim down and keep right to get to poi.
If you click on your hero tab then over to achievements, under the explorer section you can see what puzzles you have yet to complete. I use the name as reference and if stuck I head to google
I’d like to see my own name over my toon’s head….
….. And eventually customizable player housing with player-made goods.
Hrm, it worked for me yesterday … I picked the one closest to the ship .. it’s the biggest weapon up there on the wall, although there are cannons and other firing devices .. maybe you’re at the wrong one?

For pet users. You can target a mob using ranged weapon and be JUST out of a range and your pets will attack. This is particularly useful with mass mobs to ensure your pet gets the agro first, and not you.
Can we sticky this? Pretty please?
Aye there’s a seven second break to get across … Watch the flags and hide behind walls when wind starts back up.
You can pick any server and guest visit on your friends server … Once free server xfers are over it will be set up we’re told. So you can go adventure with them any time … You just can’t participate in WvW stuff on their server.
This thread is pretty awesome for tips (wish they’d sticky it)

Edit:
The 3 Associations has secret bases in which you can BUY those gears.
Vigil, if I am correct is located in Harathi (?).
Yeah they don’t sell it to you unless you’re part of the order.
But has anyone wandered into their “main offices” in Destiny? See if you can do quests for faction etc?
Well I’ll be darned, I could have sworn I’ve done it that way .. just jumped on to test it out and nope, can’t do it either way.
Drintar, I’ve actually done it that way and could have sworn you could right click over the icon on items on the trading post and see them …
This might be useful:

Condition damage is its own beast with its own attribute you’ll see on various pieces of gear. From what I understand it augments/increases your bleed (and I think poison) damage — for example earth elementalist will use this to bleed a foe for a longer/more powerful duration.
The three orders are around in Destiny’s Edge .. in the park area, inside that massive building .. might be worth wandering in and seeing if an NPC offers choices?
I begged and begged for this during the various BWE’s but sadly it’s never been an option in GW2. Not sure why either. I’m like you, I like seeing my own name floating above my toon’s head.
If you go onto your Hero tab, and click down to achievements .. under the explorer section it gives hints near the bottom of all the different non-vista puzzles you have left to find/do.
You get satchel recipes from the Mystic Forge by putting in some wine, mystic coins, crystals and then typically a chest piece you’ve made.
Ah I can understand that. And I do have sympathy for the need for privacy, I tend to be a majorly private person myself.
I guess I don’t mind this system because it gives you information — both for the user and follower — and gives you the option to block someone you don’t know. It’s particularly useful for dissuading trolls .. you know the type that log off of their main and onto an alt and start stirring up nonsense “for fun” … this way they can’t hide on an alt. Y’know?
I’ve stuck with the earth stance for tougher fights, using the scepter for ranged damage and the focus for stoneskins and shields. I’ve managed to solo all my personal storyline with these specs to 52, with the help of two earthen elementals (the regular summoned one and the elite one). Pair that with the earthen armour spell (passive is protection, active is a root for mobs), and the whirlwind sandstorm, plus the stun you get with scepter, I’ve managed to get all the skill points and zones without any major issues.
Like you, I’ve specced myself out with toughness gear, which means a slower fight, but I keep standing
You have a list of ‘Followers’ and you can just block them if you don’t want them following you.
We would like to be informed before someone has access to our privacy not afterwards. This issue needs to be revised in common sense.
Do you play other MMO’s? Chances are folks have friended you there without you knowing, and have access to all the details mentioned above. I guess the issue here is having too much information — knowing who’s added you, etc … Perhaps if folks didn’t know, it wouldn’t be as big a deal. It’s certainly not become an issue in other MMO’s, but maybe that’s because folks don’t realize.
I guess the one I have is a level 50 gear .. it requires 7. So lower tier satchels require fewer .. but it’s still one more (in this case) than the actual gear you get.
Scepter and focus (that bell thing)? I didn’t realize Guardians used the same gear as elementalists. Cool.
And for the OP. Usually karma vendors after you finish heart questlines offer scepter choices, but different NPCs offer different things, so you’ll have to hunt around.

Yeah the tailor one requires 7 insignias for the satchel for 6 pieces of gear .. it works out to roughly 105 scales …
I found this site incredibly useful .. maybe it’ll help you all out as well:
Yes Badd, but pretty much every other MMO out there allows you to “friend” players without their permission. EQ2 allows it, only difference between that and GW2 setup is you know who’s added you. Other games (like EQ2, WoW) you don’t.
yet every friend would see you being on that very alt, and start whispering you even if you put invisible mode on.
Nobody should be able to send you whispers while in invis mode. It blocks it. I’ve tested this out with friends .. they don’t see me online, are standing right beside me so they know I’m on and they can’t send me a whisper.
they can see you on that very alt and come there too. basicly, making “player stalking” awfully easy in this game.
While I understand your concern on this, it appears the friendslist is like Twitter, where you can get followers you don’t even know. I wasn’t a fan of Twitter for that very reason.
However, on the other side of the coin if you have a troll player, or someone who’s just plain disruptive, you can very easily identify them if they decide to try and “hide” on an alt. I find that incredibly useful.

I know tailors can make Major Runes of the Lich with silk and two other ingredients. I would assume the Superior ones are made at a top-end level. Seek out a top-level tailor and see if you can’t get one made.
Oh wait .. I just looked it up to be sure and it’s Rune of the Necromancer that tailors make:

Sorry!
However, I do see what you’re looking for on the Trading Post .. albeit at 25 silver a pop … so I imagine they come from salvaging, which is where I get the bulk of mine.

Has anyone tried guesting?
Here’s what I’m going to do after I get my first toon to 80. I’m going to make another class that I can explore and experiment with and I know that the storyline will NOT be the same as I go — given the diverse choices you have in your personal story all the way through, there are multiple paths to the end. Sure, the zones and heart questlines will be the same, but I’ll greatly enjoy learning how to play another class without this mad rush to end-game. By the time I have a couple set up, there will be updates that will expand on end-game (I would assume, but you never know), and then I can pick and choose what class I want to play in which parts of the new updates.
For me, the game is still entirely engrossing, but I’ve never been that hard-core raider mentality. I enjoy the journey, not the reward, and that’s why the innovations in this game that allow me to revisit areas and still be challenged are ideal. Perhaps I’m unique that way.
We’ve been programmed by the big MMO-makers out there to want that carrot, and frankly I believe that kind of development lacks imagination. It’s a timesink between expansions. It’s simply a grind, and honestly, it’s not what I’m looking for in gameplay. I understand that the first MMO’s out there that kind of set the tone were based on grinding, but I don’t find it enjoyable and while those folks who raid are usually to most vocal on forums, the typical player is happy with casual gameplay that entertains and engrosses with original content and design. And GW2 has that in spades.
I’m a level 47 elementalist (based on the number of posts in this particular forum, folks find them the squishiest), and with some points put into traits and toughness added to my gear, I’ve been able to solo all my personal story line at about the same level as they suggest.
I think this game is hyper tuned to how you spec yourself — be it gear or traits or skillpoint choices. I know you have said don’t say “gear” … but honestly it appears to have saved my butt on a number of occassions.
I typically use earth attunement on personal storylines because of stoneskins and barricades that deflect incoming projectiles (lol, half the time the mob kills itself as the projectile barrier — a focus-weapon spell — sends it back to them).
I’ve also found that while the NPCs aren’t particularly useful as described in this thread when they’re rezzed, once I hit about 40 or so in my personal storyline, they actually came back and rezzed me and became a bit less aggressive with mobs. I also once stayed down when I died and watched the NPC kill off the mob, then come back and rez me

Just chipping in to let the OP know that the trade post works between different servers so there’s no server-specific economy :P
Oh doh, you’re totally right .. I’m so programmed with other MMO’s having unique brokers/trading posts per server.
I created this topic during the various BWE’s and got some great feedback from folks that finally helped in determining which server I settled on to call home.
Just wanted to create a new thread to help others out there get feedback on the various servers, so that if they want to transfer, they are better informed.
For myself, I settled on Tarnished Coast. It’s the unofficial RP server for North America, and while I don’t RP myself, I tend to find RP communities more mature and friendly. The server is very chatty, there are some trolls, but for the most part it’s buzzing with activity and helpful players. There’s also a lot of good-natured banter and the economy appears to be flourishing (albeit folks are selling items a bit too low, but I suspect that’s just a learning curve on how the Trading Post works and will eventually even out).
So how is your server? Please indicate the server name, whether it’s EU or US, if it’s language/country specific (like german, french, etc.), and most importantly, what the community is like.
Cheers!
You also get drops at your level, no matter what level mob you’re fighting. So if you’re level 37 and scaled down to do a level 5 fight, your drop chances will get you gear at the appropriate level, and not always level 5 (although you do get some of those).
