Something I found yesterday in talking to NPCs .. it’s not much, and has probably been there the entire time, but I think it hints at things to come!

I love the little hidden gems you find as you explore. This latest one both surprised and delighted me with the intellectual reference, coupled with the rest of the moles saying “comrade” .. I kept looking around for a Karl mole Oh and just discovered the manifesto .. lol brilliant!

Sorry this is the first I ran into even seeing any bots (I guess I’m lucky) .. but there are about a half dozen in the area shown on the map below (no account names shown, so figured it’s safe to post) … they’re all naked and keep repeating the same path .. about 6 to 8 of them.

I would hope that it would be more than just an “exception” that people actually have imagination.

When my brother played D&D he always played a male paladin with exactly his own personality. 20+ years of the same character. I get that people of both genders will often play as themselves, but it strikes me as really boring. It’s not as weird to me the first time or two someone is playing a game with a character creation feature, but after a while I would think it would get old.

KOTOR was the first game I played like that. I made a character just like me who did everything just like I would. It was okay. But then I made a different character who was opposite gender and made all decisions differently from myself. Keeping track of and maintaining consistency with a thought process that didn’t come naturally was fun, and the game was far more rewarding when I took that approach.

Hrm, maybe it’s just a girl thing to do? I cannot tell by your forum name whether you’re male or female, but the bulk of women I know (including myself) who play MMO’s (shhh! it’s true, girls DO play MMOs!) … tend to make, at the very least, their first toon resemble themselves. Women tend to be more vain that way I guess. But as I said, there are always exceptions.

And I can appreciate you taking an alternate path and deriving enjoyment from playing opposite of who you are in real life, it’s the Internet after all, a lot of people do that and not just in MMOs. But for me? My toons resemble me… well maybe with different shades of hair colour And online in other areas of the net? I’m pretty much wysiwyg too.

Interesting side story: Warhammer had a toon that looked identical to me, it was almost surreal and somewhat unsettling. I even posted comparison photos of me and my toon on the forum and overwhelming response from most saying “yep, that’s you.” A little TOO much realism, lol

Craft your own gear and get rare recipes from the leatherworker trainer (or are you chain?) with some karma points …

Not necessarily .. it’s how you perceive yourself. I have a friend who won’t play anything but short squat female characters … and she’s well ..

You can get a crafted bag/box item from armourers I think that will allow you to store only armour and weapons — so at least it’s easy to find in one spot.

If you like that it had a theme behind it, you should check out the pirate one in Lion’s Arch .. no spoilers, but you may enjoy that one too. Google it if you want to know where to start.

Also any hints on where to get this one? Would love to go check it out .. even just the zone would be fine.

I’ve had situations where I’m using a stoneskin and yelling “TRAIN!!!” as I’m trying to get from WP to WP in Orr and suddenly am overwhelmed by one too many walking dead guys — and 9 times out of 10 I’ll have some kind soul swoop in and rescue me (I always try to do the same too). It’s been something that has been overwhelmingly refreshing on GW2 — folks genuinely look out for each other.

NB: I always stop if someone gets stuck in my train and help — but want to give the choo choo heads up so nobody does!

Ah I guess I hadn’t noticed them before .. any ideas on where that area on the highlighted map is? I can’t seem to fit the puzzle/island pieces together for 100% positive match.

Anyone post the map inside the house near that dormant Asura gate yet? Bottom circled red area translates into Tyria …. but anyone recognize the more dominant/highlighted part of the map (one area is brighter than the other)? Have been trying to line up the islands on my map and can’t quite seem to get an exact match.

Surviving in Orr (etc) as an ele: use focus and earth stance for stone skin and temp invulnerability … Run for wp, then head back and chip away … If too long a run flip over to air and use repel whirlwind … Then back to earth

Honestly, this light armour you buy after upgrading guild armourer gives me terrible flashbacks to seventh-grade gym class (all it’s missing is the knee-high white sweat socks) … surely if you invest in getting a personalized armourer, you get something unique that your fellow guildies would actually WANT to wear, lol. Please consider updating the look to make it, uh, appealing .. pretty please? See pix below for either A: your seventh-grade gym clothes or B: terribad flashback to the 1980s and those adidas tank tops.

In a perfect world you’d have a choice of five skins that you could customize to really make your own guild’s armour unique.

I greatly enjoyed the lore behind that lion statue and the fish, etc … how all cultures came together and kept adding onto it.

Displaced Spirits in that area for the heart questline appear buggy too … some will return to bodies, others will run close to their bodies and stall out, yet others will say follow me and then go nowhere.

Tarnished Coast server, this event to stop Bria in Iron Marches has been stuck for at least two days now (was there yesterday, same thing).

It appears to be stuck on some kind of loop.

Pressing B and using WvW to zone to Lion’s Arch is free. That’s helped me a bit to defray costs.

I soloed an ele all the way to 80 and the only time I grouped was for the penultimate portion of my storyline that required me to do Arah. Everything else is optional.

Oh I agree. I am always impressed with how helpful folks are .. we were up in Dwayna’s temple one day and there’s a skillpoint behind her that I couldn’t get. I jokingly asked map chat if anyone would come rescue me and was astounded as more than six people showed up .. it wound up triggering two events that lead to an epic battle with Dwayna herself and was just an overall amazing experience. This is just one example of what I’ve experienced myself … and there’s a lot more like me out there that have shared the same with the community and playerbase.
