Ok fine I’ll start.

I nominate Yak’s Bend. This server is the epitomy of class, both in game and on this forum. For the number of players they have, they put up a massive fight and are fierce defenders of their realm. On the forums, they are nothing but ladies and gentlemen and participate in discussions respectfully. (CD is a close second for me for similar reasons).

Ok folks, the year is rapidly coming to a close so I thought I’d run an unofficial contest.

Who has the best server out there overall? Who are our unsung heroes? What has impressed you during your time WvWing?

Rules are simple:

Nominate the best server in GW2 based solely on in-game matches and posts you’ve read here on the forums. Game scores and rank does not count. You’re welcome to post screen shots/video and details as to why you picked this server as your winner.

The hard part: YOU CANNOT NOMINATE YOUR OWN SERVER. This is you taking note of how your fellow competitors have played and what has impressed you. It can be anything from a surprise tactical attack, to how the server’s players represent themselves on the forum or in game, or both.

You can only vote once, but you’re more than welcome to engage in the discussion as often as you like. Your first post in the thread will be considered your official vote, so if you change your mind, be sure to go back and edit it.

I’ll tally up the votes on December 31 at noon EST and announce the winner later that day.

I noticed the spy thing. Thought it odd … But as one TCer pointed out … It’s really inconsequential since most communication is done via guild chats.

The other involved an issue with not one, but two players from the same guild attempting the same exploit. It should have been relayed to the guild leader or officer, but I honestly didn’t see any hysteria over it. Rather a friendly warning that these two players were sullying your guild’s good name.

My friend got on around 7 am EST on a weekday (think its near impossible on weekends). If you’re up at that time maybe try then?

Here we go, another locked thread… We (servers, collectively) need to come up with a way to talk about exploit issues.

I really think GW2 needs peer review tools like LoL has. Or at the very least, an open guild that people can join to smooth over the effects of any cheating. While the cheating doesn’t really change the game, the enjoyment we all get from WvW is lessened by these types.

Of course, Anet should just remove the ability to exploit but I am sure they have “top men” on it.

Only thing I could come up with was notifying the guild in game and if they don’t boot the perpetrator then open season on that guild with no support from their home server.

But yes, the whole exploit thing is a tricky subject and flares anger. I think before any of us post here pointing the finger, efforts should be made to contact the guild leader …. Even just to post here something like:

Would the leader of <Awesome Golem Gods> please contact me in game?

And give it 24 hours for response. It makes no accusations, because that request could be for anything, and shows effort is being made to be respectful of each other.

Why join Tarnished Coast?

Several reasons:

1. The server is always full, so when you’re not WvW-ing you can always find groups for Dynamic Events and dungeon runs. It’s very rare I’ll go into a zone and be completely alone — there are always people about and the server is hopping 24/7 with people from all over the world.

2. You don’t have to be a roleplayer to join TC. While there’s a very strong contingent of players who RP, there’s also a large number who don’t, so don’t think that you’ll land on TC and be forced into RPing.

3. Tarnished Coast tends to attract a mature audience of players. We are helpful and fun and look after our own. If you’re tired of the L33T crowd, come give us a try.

4. Learning WvW: If you’re new to WvW you’ll find our map chat is not only friendly, but helpful. We have some top quality commanders on our force who lead strategically, but also know how to teach. They’re an extremely patient bunch and are inclusive to everyone — from the solo player to the small guild to the bigger guilds — everyone works cooperatively together. Map chat is actually pleasant.

5. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. From princess fortress attacks to dolyak parades, we take time out from WvW to do fun stuff. (See pix below — thank you to TCers for letting me borrow your uploads!)

6. While we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we also have a dedicated bunch to WvW. We’re the little server that could, our players are fiercely loyal and have a lot of heart. We never give up. If you like the idea of moving up tiers with your server, putting in your share to the effort, it might be time to come over to TC. We’re moving up to T2 this week, thanks to the tireless efforts of our WvW guilds and teams. With more bodies and enthusiastic players who knows how far we’ll climb? Bigger servers tend to underestimate us — that’s our advantage. And there’s always room for WvW guilds to join in and help with strategy. Join up now and climb with us!

Guildie has been having same issue, one thing that fixed her issue (and fixed my clanging bell sound in WvW) was to delete the local.dat file in Documents>GW2 folder. This file is supposed to keep all your settings (and you’ll have to readjust it back after you delete it), but it grows daily in size … when it gets to a certain massive size, issues happen apparently. Try that and see if it helps any.

Anet put out a hint about dealing with thieves in its latest patch update .. indicating AOE would stop them in their tracks. We had four eles aoe-ing this one thief the other day and the guy still managed to invis and get away, over and over. And the eles were talented folks, not new to their class — so it was both frustrating and puzzling trying to figure out how to counter the guy.

Hrm, maybe I’m not remembering properly and I got caught up in an attack and was delayed. I’ll watch more carefully from now on and see …

Or better yet, you should be able to climb onto the treb and be flung over wall.

I think if a server corners one of those NPC commanders alone, this should happen. And then the server can watch the commander go flying off into the distance and cheer! Of course, when he comes back, he’ll be doubly mad .. but …

In my situation I had two arrow carts up … and was the only person running supply from the camp .. arrow carts don’t take a massive amount of mats to build, but by the time I came back for the second one, it had gone poof.

So if an enemy uses a hack, let the other “enemy” server know? What about the server the hacker is on (not that they could do much with it) ….

I’ve seen it disappear in less than 30 …

Better yet .. a WvW map bank, where players deposit donations that can be used for upgrades.

I think it’s on a timer .. if it’s not built after a certain period of time, it appears to disappear .. at least that’s what i’ve noticed.

I kinda get this. I spend a good chunk of my time in WvW running supply for upkeep and siege …. While others are out in the Zerg getting karma and loot. These upkeep jobs are indeed pretty thankless that way, but are appreciated by your teammates.

How I balance it is ill do a couple Zerg runs then head back to run supply so I am getting some reward … Not like those who are out there constantly … But then they’re paying armour repair fees too.

I think more folks do need to realize that these towers and forts don’t magically spawn siege and reinforcement .., but I think that’s slowly being learned as I watch way more people pitching in than say I saw a month ago.

The issue seems rampant across all servers, based on threads I’ve been reading. So until anet puts in a fix, what can we, as a community do to stop/stem this from happening?

The only thing I can come up with is for players to make attempts to contact the guild leader of the player exploiting … And if the guild leader refuses to do anything (most have booted the offenders from guild) … Then it’s open season on the offending guild, with an agreement from the home server not to defend them …. Until the hacking stops?

Anyone else have ideas?

A note to TC leaders:

If any evidence of questionable behavior such as exploiting or wall jumping occurs, both SoR leaders as well as BG leaders have standing declarations to deal with offenders ASAP.

That is all.

I think you’ll find the majority of TCers don’t tolerate it as well … in our camps or others. Perhaps this is something all three sides can police and deal with quickly?

The behavior is correct in that your character was killed while in combat but the team talked it over and we’re not happy with the golem going away as a result. We’ll get a change into an upcoming build so that if you’re in a golem when you DC the golem itself won’t be destroyed but will instead be left behind as though you had exited it.

lol we’re not happy with the recent patch update .. when we came back five golems we had waiting went poof. That’s a nice chunk of coin to have just disappear after an update. (They were parked at the WP, so no they were not lost in battle).

Edit: Fixed the email, had it wrong.

I was a staunch pver, hated hated hated anything pvp …. But I’m also a completionist and had to get 100% map done …. Which meant going into WvW maps.

What made me stay was A: my loyalty to my server … TC has some of the most fiercely loyal players out there, which leads to server pride and a sense of duty …. But the more important reason I stayed was B: the leadership. I’m sure other servers have fine commanders … But ours tend to have the utmost patience with newcomers, take the time to explain why you should do this or not do that, and encourage us all to rally together.

Now I make sure I put in at least a couple hours a day and I love WvW!

If I hadn’t witnessed this kind of leadership on map chat I likely would have ninja’d my vistas and pois and not returned. I think a lot of servers miss this golden opportunity as new folks enter the WvW map to get their 100%.
