Weird, i can carry pugs of first timers through many dungeons.
I am a ranger. (mainly)

I’d say, the class doesn’t really matter, as long as you know enough about the dungeon and it’s mechanics, as well as it’s boss’ ones.
Also, how much each pug is willing to “understand”, “comprehend” and “learn”, especially from their mistakes, greatly varies.

My fastest pug lupi kill was about 2 minutes long with 4 first timers – ranged. After i’ve explained the boss, i’ve let them watch a short video of a group fighting him.
No one died, only one grub eaten (minus the last one) and everyone was happy and i was proud.

Then you have guys like today, when i was carrying a few beginners through AC P2.
Everything went smooth, until the trap part, where one kept firing the green laser at the boss.
One also aggro’d him, after a trap was ready, even though, i’ve warned about the AoE of doom, he casts, if not properly positioned.
Whenever i’ve said “wait”, “ooc” or “stop and listen”, 2 of them just kept attacking the boss, while he was invulnerable.
Eventually, i’ve got them to stack behind a pillar and LoS’d the boss, w/o triggering his AoE. (which i’ve just learned during that run – pets might be somewhat “duuuuhhh”, but man, are they life-savers sometimes)

OP was asking about Fractals in a previous post. That’s why I mentionned that Ranger and Necro don’t bring that much for that area. Also I talk about meta build and I consider going melee for most of the encounters.

Pretty much every class can carry pugs when played correctly (for dungeons at least, might not be the case for FotM).

Mesmer, despite their low DPS, bring a lot of reflects, decent condition removal, a bit of party wide stability, portal and TimeWarp (good for CM / CoF / SE / Arah and FotM)

Guardian, when played well, probably one of the best class to carry pugs, with aegis, stability, condition removal, reflects, blinds. (good for everything)

Thief, one of the highest DPS class (but very squishy), bring a lot of stealth for skipping, perma blind, which is very useful to kill trash mobs easily (good for everything)

Warrior, one of the easiest class to play decently. Bring mainly offensive support (banner of tactics / defense is a no no). (good for everything)

Elementalist, one of the most squishy class along with thief but also one of the highest DPS class, very good for providing might and fury, ice bows. Can provide blind with Sandstorm. Dagger / Focus build offers a good survability. (good for everything).

with some improvements to tactics we were able to beat our old FGS record by quite a bit, which is what we were going for. Next up is probably beating every record we had with strategies that allow us to shave off several seconds.

If it’s any help my dungeon group with people from Sweden, Germany, France and Slovenia have almost exactly the same lag, so please don’t tell me it’s on my part. It’s extremely infuriating and making me consider quitting the game even more. Sorry about the rant :P

To add to that, we registered for the DnT Dungeon Speedclear tournament which is this Saturday. And when we’re practicing we have a lot of skill delays, some members from the team get DC from the game randomly (but they still are on TeamSpeak). Having that lag is very frustrating for us.

It will be fun if they fix server lags. Because it’s getting annoying as kitten.

Well that system should be changed. It’s just bullkitten atm. Like yesterday one guildie was giving away via the LFG tool an Arah p4 he soloed (except for Simin where he asked for help) and some people joined his group just to kick him and get the instance. That is just not fair… He just rage quited after that and I understand why. You spend a lot of time just for being kicked out of your instance? Anet please revert this change or allow us to choose if we want the ownership of the dungeon or not like it was suggested in the previous page…

About: some solos and record runs

Not really. They just kittened up our class in PvE by “fixing” one of our main asset, the untraited wardens. Other than that, no major change except maybe the Mantra of Pain and Distraction being 5 targets AoE skills now. iLeap skill is also nice now. And if the wardens are not bugging anymore, well ok it’s cool I guess.

In the other thread someone discovered that disabling auto proxy detect solved the CoherentUI crash issue.

Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings
Make sure “Automatically detect settings” is UNchecked

This has solved the issue for several of us on both Windows 8.1 and Windows 7.

I had it unchecked but I had the program ClearThink installed on my computer (the field below “Automatically detect settings” was checked with an adress leading to the program ClearThink). Uninstalling it worked.

Thanks for your patience while we try to figure this one out.

One hypothesis suggested by some of the posts above is that CoherentUI_Host.exe is not shutting down properly. (The new launcher, which looks just like the old launcher, uses a Web browser called Coherent.)

If you’re stuck, please bring up the task manager and see if CoherentUI_Host.exe is running (it will be under the processes tab, not the applications tab); if it is, kill it and try running Guild Wars 2 again. Most likely you will be able to get into the game one time and then the next time it will fail.

Alternatively, and I’m almost ashamed to suggest this: reboot Windows and try playing Guild Wars 2. If the problem is that CoherentUI_Host.exe is not shutting down properly, you will probably be able to play one time.

Let us know if any of this works for you, and especially please let us know if you see that CoherentUI_Host.exe is running when Guild Wars 2 is not.

Could you add the reflect damage with buff food? I’m quite interested to see the difference between ranger and scholar with that (if you could also include the seaweed salad that’d be nice). Also if you could include Spotter + Frost Spirit as well that’d be awesome
