2 – The bonus chest you get from Fractal depends on your Personal Reward Level (PRL), let’s say you’re PRL 2, you can only get the daily bonus chest from tier 0 (Level 1 to 10). If you were level 11, you could do tier 0 (1-10) and tier 1 daily (11-20) From tier 0 you can’t really get anything special from the daily bonus chest, but starting from tier 1, you can get ascended Rings, Armor Chest, Weapon Chest and Fractal Weapon skins. So you should probably get your PRL to 11+ to do the tier 1 daily (to increase that level, you need to do fractals equal or superior to your PRL).

3 – Twilight Arbor Aetherpath is a path from Twilight Arbor (TA) which was introduced last September to replace another path from that dungeon (Forward / Up). It was introduced with a Living Story patch, that’s why there’s many Achievements dedicated to it.

4 – Yes exactly you choose the path once you’re inside the dungeon. But for TA, you choose at the beginning either the normal 2 paths you can do (Up and Forward) or the Aetherpath at the beginning of the instance. If you choose the normal 2 paths, you start the beginning of the dungeon normally and you’ll have to choose later if you want to go Up or Forward.

5 – No idea

6 – “Rush / Speedrun / SC” means that they skip most of the trash mobs you can skip and they only do the required objectives. Sometimes they also skip some bosses (i.e. Kholer in AC)

7 – Almost every profession with meta builds are good, but I’d say necromancer (mainly because they can’t cleave with the meta build)

8 – Every profession has its use in dungeons. But i’d say Warrior / Guardian / Elementalist / Thief / Mesmer are the class most wanted in dungeon

9 – Check http://gw2dungeons.net/ it contains useful information about each dungeons including the potion you should use.

10 – Generally you don’t take gold / mf food for dungeon, the cheap food for dungeon is probably http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plate_of_Steak_and_Asparagus or http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Slice_of_Candied_Dragon_Roll

11 – Between 60 and 72 Tokens per daily path and like 26+ silver + the loots you get in the dungeon, which is RNG.

13 – If you mean the one in Open World, yes they are soloable.

14 – Some dungeon gear has stats that can’t be crafted (Rabid, dire, cavalier, shaman, etc). When salvaging exotic dungeon gear of these stat types, you have a chance to get the inscription/insignia.

The point is case 2 you can play afk, while in case 1 you have to actually watch the screen and do stuff.

P.P.S. @Joey an easier dungeon is indeed needed to explain dungeon mechanics to beginners.
We had such dungeon…it was AC..then it was changed so its easy only using speedrunning tactics thus not suited to introduce players to istances.

I rly would like to see a fotm 50 with 2 guards and 1 war where you can play afk. Then no one is probably meleeing bosses and playing with meta builds. I agree it’s safer with blinds / aegis, but you just can’t afk.

Besides the fact, that GS has no use in a dungeon group with people who know what they are doing, I think your approach towards the GS is not very representative for someone who is in a high level guild.

Unless you are doing nothing but dungeons, not owning a GS will limit you and make you less efficient in other aspects of the game. For me that sounds narrow minded.

Nothing personal, but I would rather play my other classes than running around with my mesmer in the open world only using swords…

Yeah GS can be useful while zerging World Bosses in open world (coz you don’t see kitten with all the people ) but that’s it, there’s no place for it in dungeons in general. The only part I would use a GS is for CoF P1 to push the slave driver if my focus #4 isn’t ready coz we’re too fast

EDIT: I also use it for the molten fractal at the end to push the Protector away from the Core if no one else can push / pull it away since 1 focus pull isn’t enough, but you could just take Mantra of Distraction instead and interupt his shield ability

Well I don’t really know max, but it’ll take more time for sure since we can’t los it (we don’t use FGS rush with blink), the team composition would be different and the way to the boss is longer.

you can also get that increased manipulation range for longer blinks.

Well mesmers are not that bad at trash skipping, you just need a skipping set dedicated to skips and you’re fine (Centaur Runes is the way to go for perma swiftness with the Healing Mantra)

New Tip:

This is probably common knowledge to other Fractals veterans, but I’ll post this for the benefit of newer players. In the Uncategorized (harpy) Fractal, during the portion with the energy bars falling down the slope, you can actually dodge through/block the bars. This allows professions with long-lasting blocks to easily complete the run by dodging twice through the first two bars, and then activating their block skill (Shield Stance etc.) for the last portion.

Or put up a projectile reflect and have the most hilarious game of reverse guitar hero.

You can also run behind a thief using Daggerstorm. Thief really shines in this fractal!

Nice run, but you can save some time with another team composition imo (could be possible with the same team composition as well I think)

Also it seems you did it before they change the path. Now you can’t skip the barriers and the dredge cart is not like that anymore (you can go through ).

Last thing, if the champion start to talk with the NPC at the end, that’s when we start a record run again
