About the question 1, I asked Cookie a while back about it and he said it wasn’t allowed.
About the 2nd question, no you can’t do it:
9.) If it is evident that your party has deliberately abused positioning to disable a boss, your time will be void. This means safe spotting a boss, line of sighting to cause a boss to break, etc.
;_; so much mesmer hate
I will never get a team
I know right We need to form teams by ourselves to be able to play mesmer
SC will attend to the first Competitive PvE Tournament organized by the guild DnT

A dev in the dungeon forum! That’s amazing. Also I could stream if needed ^^
Go sword/dagger.
Yeah I probably should, but then no GS for stunning Abom before the Rage mode
Wish you good luck, don’t let belka kitten you.
Seriously, she’s the hardest encounter in the whole run by far.
Thanks ^^ It’s mainly for skip that we could have some problems ^^ We practiced Belka quite a bit last time, and we probably can kill her before she teleport a second time if we don’t make mistakes. Also the Abom, I guess I need some practice with ranger sword auto attack :s
Nice run guys Our turn now ^^
Our new FotM 49 speedclear:
It’s on Sam’s stream not mine, was lagging too much

DE helps you instantly pump out 3 illusions for the p1->p2 transition. His AoE projectile attack scales with targets (up to a cap of 20 or something), so if you can get more clones out, you can get more targets, and reflect more damage.
Exactly!
I think we had harpy and cliffside with molten duo on 43. But Molten is the only part I remember.
So what is the 2nd best instability?
Seriously, we did lvl 33 this week (ascalon, cliffside, grawl, molten duo) and it was the first time I came out of fractals and was like “never ever ever am I going through that again”.
Were we just being bad and inexperienced (we’ve been playing together since before reward level 30, and are hoping to keep going through the levels one by one, so we were all “on-level” for this one), or is 33 as nasty as it felt?
Level 43 is challenging if you get shaman in my opinion since the reflects still cause the instability to tick.
Just do Molten Duo at 43… That was the most difficult thing I did while grinding to lvl 50. Thanks god we didn’t have Dredge back then.

Our team already filled, I’m banned on ranger. :/
What the ‘hell’ is team bible, though?Spoj, Sam, Adam, Gabe, and some other people. I don’t know them all
Also Neo and Blessing I think ^^
Sam = best mentor EU!
I might try that with Sam and a guildie, who is very good with engi
Yeah Warden triggers bubbles mostly when they bug out for some time. I don’t use swordman for phase 3 when I solo Lupicus. One good advice might be to move around lupi far from your bugged warden so if they get bubble, you can react and move away without using your Stability. But try to not move when Lupi stands still, wait for an attack.
For traits, I’d take 6/4/0/4/0 as well. In dueling you want Deceptive Evasion, so you can switch Blade Training or Phantasmal Fury (I’d switch PF for DE)

Well on mesmer I just use my Mind Wrack on the source.
A thief can do it with Shortbow (auto attack or Cluster Bomb, don’t remember) or a Mesmer with Mind Wrack (need to shatter about 6 clones with Assassin / Zerk set). But it only prevent the “Swirling Wind” like AoE that does damage and cripple, not the KD attack
Fixing the buggy forum…
If you want to record video, you can either use Fraps, or OBS (Open Broadcaster Software). OBS can be used to record video and to stream as well
but fgs is really interesting

you know you’ve done something right in your game when bad players complaining about stacking in corners pressing 1 skill is the truth.
Well I’m just saying another way of doing it, we usually don’t do it (unless at the start of the fight), who run 3 ele / 2 guardian in fotm anyway :>
Pretty much everything has been said about Mossman, but I’ll just add that you can fgs rush him if you have elementalists (might not be a good idea with pugs though). At low level, even 1 elementalist (or 2) are enough to kill it, but you need multiple rushes and chain aegis / dodge while waiting for the next rush. Keeping reflects up are a good idea too
I like it

Yep yep… swag for my sweet 18 birthday (yesterday) <3
Happy 18th, Iris!
She’s older than that but sssshhhhh
I see a lot of people discussing ranger runes, but looking on the wiki it seems to say that ranger runes are NOT affected by illusions. So which is right?
Ranger Runes 7% damage bonus is triggered if you have a mini pet with you (this might be a bug). If that is fixed, there’ll be a lot less reasons to go for Ranger runes and that’s one of the reason why I stick to Scholar runes, the other one being that I can stay above 90% health for almost every encounters.
I might do a video if I ever try this, but i’d rather take Restorative mantra than Warden’s Feedback tbh, endless heal with Mantra of Pain is just so much useful
Used 2 (III)/4(II/IV)/0/5(II/X)/3(III) for my Liadri kill (or maybe it was 2 III / 4 II-IV / 0 /4 II-X / 4 III-X)

Great Guide!! I took a bit of a break from GW2 and now I want to get back on my Mesmer, thanks to you.
The build links confuse me because you don’t change the utility skills (and I understand why) but you’ve still got Signet Mastery (Dom VI) traited in all of them. What else would you trait if you’ve got no signets and running Mantras.
Also, the 6/6/0/0/2 build is described as max-dps single target, but I don’t understand the Blurred Inscriptions choice, especially with no signets. I would think Harmonious Mantras with maybe MoP would be better for some extra spike damage and more reliable Mantra charge uptime.
About Signet Mastery, this is mainly because there’s not really another good trait in the Domination traitline, but you can take Mental Torment to finish off a boss / Halting Strike, but it doesn’t proc when a boss has Defiant stacks, or even Crippling Dissipation for boss fight when you want to keep them crippled.
About the 6/6/0/0/2 build, that might be a typo, because Blurred Inscription is mainly for survivability. Harmonious Mantra or Duelist Discipline are definitely better options there, or Deceptive Evasion for fights like Lupicus.
Thanks all for the comments and feedback!
With the nerfing of stacking sigils, I’ll adjust the gear section shortly… pretty much always makes sense to run Assassin’s + Ranger now (can’t justify to yourself that your perception stacks will pull Berserker gear to higher crit), which means I have to toss my ascended armor and start over. Oh well, that’s life.
Note that in some dungeons you can take a quick dip underwater and revert the stacking sigil nerf. Not all dungeons, but some.
I guess this will be useful for absolute min-maxing, but for general purpose, it’s just getting way too inconvenient to stack :\ Single stacking was already of marginal utility in most places (hard to get to 25 stacks reasonably quickly), and this makes it even more of a pain. But yeah, will still be possible in some situations.
I personally didn’t salvage my underwater stacking weapon and I’m using now my stacking sword as an off hand weapon mostly for Arah when I stay mostly on S/F. (You need the underwater stacking weapon for like Arah P3/P4 because of the part where you have to go underwater (I don’t know if we lose our stacks if we don’t have the underwater stacking weapon equipped).
Yeah was suggested in the Suggestion forum and I tried to make a topic a few months ago to discuss about it again, but well the devs don’t read our forum :s

Well some fixes made a few fractals super easy. At least they didn’t change every fotm. Ascalon seems a bit more challenging now (The end boss at least with only 4 npc helping us).
At least that fix is nice. Some fixes are kinda dumb but well fotm is for casuals right?
Did FotM 49 and 38 yesterday and we had:
49: 1 Ring | 2 Armor chest (Raider / Healer) | 1 Fractal skin
38: 3 Rings | 1 Fractal skin
So seems better but we need to check that with more data.
Well we had Bloomhunger yesterday and they added red circles for the Poison Rain attack. The fight is just trivial now
We had grawl yesterday and well the kittening camera at the last boss was fixed! It was so much easier to melee
That’s true I suppose yeah, we don’t quite have a dungeon like that though… thankfully ^^
SC did cm with 2 ele/mes/thief/guard
RIP warriors
P2 was 3 ele / 1 thief / 1 mesmer, but yeah war has no place in CM 1/2/3 or SE P1 :P
I want to see it! DPS engi in action gogo
Oy, what a bad Arah run last night. Die, die, fail, die. That’s what I get for not stepping foot in it for 2-3 months
Thanks for your patience Sam! <3
No problem bromax. It shall be done again :>
Btw wasn’t Azreel the guy who was supposed to play with Dub ? In the stacking topic in the GW2 discussion his name shows up :<
One day I won’t be a bad (or I’ll be less bad)!
And yes, that’s the one and the same. Good times.
Next time i’ll come with you guys if I’m not doing PvP!
Soloing 50 is worthy of a precursor. If you solo’d harpy you deserve a legendary. Old Tom alone would cause you no end of trouble not to mention the 4 at the top.
Well done indeed
I agree as a warrior Old Tom might be a pain (if you don’t go inside it or don’t use LB to hit it from the floor below), but as a mesmer it’s quite easy I think.
Good job on that!
I look forward to seeing a record with an engi only so we can beat it without one.
I imagine you’ll have to ask Jerem nicely or wait a few years
Wait what? hmm how about no? The only dungeon engi might have a place could be HotW P2/3, but that’s pretty much it.

Hey,
For PvE (especially dungeons and FotM), you should look at that guide:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-How-To-Mesmer-in-Dungeons/
It covers almost everything you need.

Hey,
Here’s some guild you might want to give a try:
Intricacy [iV]
Divus [DIV]
Well I pugged TA up today with Sam and another friend and I had this gem at the end of the path
Meh Only saying you could use a duelist / swordman instead of the 3rd warden for a DPS increase
Did just that in my last video. Subject Alpha solo just for fun, 2 wardens and 1 swordsman. The fight became so trivial I didn’t even have to dodge once.
For some reason I feel is we publicize it enough ANet will want to patch it. That would be quite a blow.
Yeah I saw that, that was quite fun to watch ^^ Yeah if they nerf that, well we won’t be needed that much anymore except for portal
Well you need reflection basically when an enemy uses projectiles based attacks. Check out http://gw2dungeons.net/ it will help you a bit with that. Keep in mind some projectiles can’t be reflected and are unblockable, but untraited wardens (not using the trait Warden’s Feedback) can absorb them.

Hey maxi, great job here.
I wonder if you can help meI have full assassin’s armor and weapons with scholar runes, and zerk trinkets.
What of the builds you listed would suit me better?
I know it depends on utilities you want or not to use, as well as reflection uptime, but what build do you think contributes with more DPS overall?
I don’t mind giving up slots for mantras because i mostly use only feedback anyway. Thanks for your help!
You usually want to switch between builds. I’d say go for 6/4/0/4/0 when you need reflection or 6/4/0/0/4 (or 6/6/0/0/2) when you don’t
Please sticky this.
Excellent job!
The only thing I’m thinking about is if the reflection isn’t needed for damage just for damage mitigation, isn’t it better to go after power than precision?
There aren’t many fights like Lupicus to be around whereby the reflection is much needed for the damage.
I am 99% sure that Jerem and frifox’s conclusions on gear are independent of reflect damage, and actually take into account full DPS from sword + phantasms (see this thread for frifox’s numbers). The damage with assassin’s and zerker is basically identical, but reflect damage is higher in assassin’s. You can always stack bloodlust to get more power as well (frifox is not using stacking in his numbers).
The differences are tiny though. I’m running berserker’s because I have zero interest in remaking my ascended pieces.
Yeah when I compared Assassin/ Zerk over full Zerk I only took into account Effective Power and no reflect damage.
Well for speedruns nowadays, the main utility of the mesmer is portal / reflect / swiftness provider / signet of inspiration (as seen in our last CM P3, CM P2 and rT’s Arah P3)
