To the OP. You think rifle sucks and all the kits. May I ask…. why do you play Engineer over the other professions?
I pray that arenanet doesn’t change anything about the skills we currently have. Wouldn’t be fair on the mass majority of engineers to log on one day and see “oh our rifle has an entirely new skill set”…. Kind of makes this thread invalid.

They arent a substitute for weapons because they dont provide anything that weapons provide. Anyone can buy items that give bundles and do the same thing our kits do which is 5 new skills and no stats or sigils.
And once again you are arguing that unless everyone plays this one certain way they have no right to complain. There was never anything said that when playing an engineer KITS are your bread and butter and its fail not use them. An engineers best burst is built around no kits at all.
You also seem to think that by some miracle Anet are the first Devs to create an mmo tht is absolutly perfect right out the gate, without any flaws, glitches, exploits, broken mechanics or imbalances. That everything is working exactly as they intended it to be.
In which case I think you are spending to much time in forums and not enough time actually playing.
Wep kits are replacement for weps for engineer. That is a fact. You don’t like any kits so now you want a wep swap… it’s just plain silly. You want to change their entire concept of engineer because you want 19 skills but dislike kits. It’s exactly like playing any other profession…. “I don’t like any other wep so I just stick to greatsword and never swap”. It’s your choice not to use the profession to its full potential.

But this is how Engineer’s are made. It’s not mandatory to use them but it is if you do want 19 skills and above. This was how the engineer was designed. This is the engineer. If people don’t like it and want to change it then why play the engineer when this is what it is. If anything was to change dramatically like a wep swap then it wouldn’t be the engineer anymore. Kits seem fine to me. I hit with Grenades 900 per 3x grenades for skill 1. I don’t feel much of an issue when I play. I am just sick of seeing people try and revamp a profession. It’s basically asking arena-net to change their game. It’s no different to asking minecraft to become a first person shooter. It doesn’t make sense. How can people think they can just make something what they want because they like how they are an Engineer. If they don’t like how the profession is, it MASSIVELY confuses me why they play it.
Elementalists can’t swap weapons as well. This is to account for their attunements, same as for Engineers’ weapon kits.
Except elementalists always have a full four attunements, and engineers often have no kits whatsoever, giving them 14 skills, the least of any class.
It really isnt fair, or well thought out, I don’t see the necromancer getting ‘docked’ HP because he can potentially have 5 meat shields on his skill bar, I don’t see why we get docked the complete use of a game mechanic because we can potentially run five kits.
If you don’t like the kits and complaining about the lack of skills without kits why are you playing Engineer I simply don’t understand. Why complain about a profession that overs love for what it is and people trying to change it to better suit them? I am totally confused with this. It’s not a trick. It’s how the elixer is meant to be used. Someone seems a bit butt-hurt!

There is so much wrong with this i don’t even know where to begin.
First of all saying that all kits deal a lot more damage than other professions is just a straight up lie. The grenade kit does very viable damage especially for it’s range but if you think the rest does you need to try some other classes.
Second, the lack of sigils has already been acknowledged as a problem that they want to fix.The engineer is by no means a bad class but has it’s fair share of problems.
Failing to acknowledge those problems is just as bad as what you are complaining about.
Okay okay..
Bomb kit – Extremely simple and easy to use, decent damage. Why is it not as powerful as some other professions dmg wise? Oh ye, bcus it has a large AoE blind, it has a good control ability, it requires extremely no effort what so ever, it has a confusion ability causing the enemy to faceroll themselves.
Grenade kit – Deals amazing damage for someone who can control their target. It rewards people for playing right. Standing at a distance with this kit and throwing grenades hoping to hit someone is not playing it right. This kit is amazing damage.
Flame-thrower – Very easy to use but rewards people massively if used right. Does decent damage but alot of damage is sacrificed for the amount of control it has and it’s blind ability. If used with the right utility skills and good knowledge of how to control your enemy you will be amazing with this kit.
Elixer-gun – All condition builds are weak at the moment so I really cannot say Elixer-gun doesn’t need a buff. It’s decent support. Have not really used it much.
Tool-kit – Obviously for a turret build. Definitely mainly for PvE. I personally have little respect for turret builds in PvP. Seems braindead. But turret builds in PvE can prove quite the support. I don’t really see many turret builds even use this since it would cause them to lose one turret.

It’s a rifle. They not going to add a new weapon because you guys want a long ranged wep and a short range wep. It’s not going to happen. If you don’t like the skill set why do you play engineer rifle? Thats how the engineer profession is and how it needs to stay. Not people who like having engineer under their names but not actually liking the profession. Go play Rifle Warrior or Ranger if you want something more ranged.

If the kits were bugged then yeh I want it fixed, if any engineer wep was bugged I would want it fixed and would try and help the profession out but as the engineer currently stands it is well balanced and needs very little tweaking.
Level 90 and setup = skill + skill kit
Level 90 with a game that has a level cap of 80, that is a pretty impressive feat.

Loving engineer so much. Just had to get this out there.
In WvWvW and sPvP noone can kill me. It takes a good 3-4 players to kill me if they are good but in WvW 3 players are usually easy pickings. The amount of damage the Engineer Deals is insane alone with their survivability aswell… I don’t even use Elixer S or have the automatic activation of it (Seriously if you chose that reroll).
Love the amount of control and the melee/ranged aspect of it. In most fights I tend to be melee ranged with ranged weapons because you get the most out of it. The no cooldown on kits is amazing. We are blessed with this. Constantly switching kit – wep in the heat of battle not keeping either out for longer than 6 seconds at a time.
Extremely disappointed seeing some engineers not taking advantage of this quick swap and keeping one wep out in pvp for the entire duration of a battle. I guess they will soon leave when they realise they should be playing greatsword warrior.
All in all, love Engineer!

I’ve played Mesmer and find them severely easy. You don’t control your illusions except with shatter spells. People think they are skilled because they think of the amount of illusions they summon and all their stealth abilities and the way they confuse the enemy but actually it’s all pretty simple. In fact all that makes them look skilled but it is actually an illusion… LOLOLOL
I honestly doubt your claims. I quite honestly think you’re some sixteen year old kid that thinks he’s top dog, when in all actuality, he’s bad at PvP. The only way he can rage is by coming to the forums and complaining about classes he doesn’t know a thing about.

actually yer I was kitten off. I was in WvWvW…. completely dominated a CoF geared kitten warrior with control abilities, etc and he is low so he runs towards his guards at his keep so I just walk away. 1 Min later out of nowhere this warrior charges me, knocks me down and hundred blades me for a good 20k… I when I finally roll out of this mess of stupid dmg with my full Knight set on (toughness/power/precision) am on around 5% health…… obviously he hits me one more basic skill 1 attack and knocks me down. I never lose 1v1s and to lose like this made me angry so I had to vent it since I couldn’t find this players name.
Then there is thiefs… my only issue with thiefs is their ability to escape. They engage you thinking they are top dog flying through the air spinning and kitten but when they realise they have met their match they stealth, switch to short bow and escape 1 mile in less than 5 seconds… what a kitten take.
Mesmers just generally are an annoyance. Most 1v1 I kill the enemy at most in 15 seconds but mesmers take a good minute to kill even tho they are terrible. Just due to the fact that not only do they have illusions but they have a ridiculous amount of stealth… it’s just overkill for avoiding death. They constantly apply confusion making it impossible for you to avoid damage as you are damaging yourself constantly to kill their illusions. It’s just a pathetic strong class. I play against some amazing guardians that die faster than some of these mesmers.

Lucky I didn’t say there are OP then. I only said they are unskilled. (Large dmg output for little effort. 1 wep set pressing 5 keys is little effort)
Hate how people think that because these professions can jump in and out of stealth they have a high skill cap. Yes it may look skilled but seriously it’s easy mode. It’s the addition of 2-3 more buttons…. oh no.
Mesmers can easily beat people just keeping 1 wep set out which is ridiculous (just like thief and warrior). I hate more than anything in this game idiots who run around with 1 wep set out getting kills. Makes me sick how this game can be classed as an e-sport with kitten like that happening… 10 skills (they probably only use 5) is just weak. Play elementalist and use all 25 skills… then you have the most respect but thief, warrior, mesmer… very little respect.
Most professions have easy mode builds.

I absolutely demolish these classes. It just pisses me off that when they actually get a cheap hit on me because one of my control abilities miss (except mesmers they allways hitting me) they unload the most idiotic amount of damage in the game.
I eat all of those alive in WvW… so… I’m curious by what you mean “unskilled”?

Warrior hunder blades hitting me 20k in WvWvW and I have 1588 toughness…..
The reasons why this is gamebreaking:
The amount of skill… sorry but noone will play warriors if it’s this kittening hard to play.. kittening hell never seen so much skill in my life. 1 button = 20k… teach me please you awesome people!
There should be a currency dropped for each wall/gate you destroy (not badge of honor) and then you spend that currency on it. Not the fail currency that is gold.
Also, not to mention the rifle or pistol on my character gets hidden under some armor. Looks a little kitteneap, am I right?

I recently crafted the leather exotic helm and on everyone else it looks amazing but on charr it’s just a forhead piece and looks ridiculous. Same with the leather crafted shoulders. Completely out of place compared to the rest of the set. Please make charr armor better arenanet.

Does the aqua breather rune work when you’re not underwater? So can I have for example:
5/6 of one rune and
2/6 on another rune
because my aqua breather allows for a 7th rune…? Do I therefore have the bonus from 2/6 and the 5/6 when I am not underwater? or do I only bonus from the aqua breather rune when I am underwater?
Dear Op, don’t be that sort of player. Don’t dictate where people should roleplay, or that they should participate in events that they may not want to.
I’ve done that event many times. Regardless if there are people around or not, the level scale there is not that great. They are some of the harder enemies for that level range.
While i find it rude that they called you a troll, I find it just as rude that you’d suggest others RP elsewhere so as to not hamper your play.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, just saying.
As for the other point- I agree that if someone approaches you in an RP manner, either rp back properly, or politely inform them that it’s a private rp. Don’t be ignorant.
I think GMs should step in and dictate the kitten out of these kittens where they should kittening go if we can’t. kitten them ruining events because they want to roleplay. It’s not their fault that events work like this but it’s a pretty well known event mechanic. So don’t step up on your high platform and tell us to be considerate of people who are less than considerate.

I know how to make everyone not farm just 1. Make the dungeon tokens all the same. Don’t make them specific to certain gear. Make it so any dungeon you run on explore drops the same token. Your idea is also good but make it more of a 2 week or monthly thing.
Thief = HS spam.
New Weapons such as:
- Cestus
- Crossbow
- Great Axe
- Polearm
New Healing, Utility and Elite skills that increase synergy options within each class and further define the flavor and theme of each class. Some classes feel like they seriously need more skills to better define them (For example Warrior is fine power wise, but I feel like it’s lacking a lot of synergy and fun options currently)

i do dodge but you run out of energy doing so after a couple dodges, and are at the mercy of boss’s attack which then either instantly kills you or kills you in 2 hits. Im aware of the skill factor to these dungeons but when the trash mobs are overpowered with a truck load of hp, are the same level as you, and can wipe you out in 2 hits if it connects, it goes a bit beyond a challenge, and into the realm of ridiculous. But I guess it has to happen in PVP for people to understand the concept of what overpowered means.
Obvious noob is obvious. Firstly it probably downs you in 2 hits. The down state is not dying… actually it is just to promote team work. If someone goes down in a dungeon they are not bad but if noone tries to pick them up they are the ones that are bad unless there is a valid excuse like you are sat in an AoE. You do get punished for going down to much resulting in immediate death therefore you are bad. It doesn’t take long before the down penalty goes.
Try playing with your group and ask your group to play with you and these dungeons should be a breeze. Otherwise the dungeon difficult does not need to be changed.

Dungeons are way overpowered, trash mobs can wipe your party atleast twice.
Which is pretty kitten I am all for a challenge, but getting spanked by trash mobs is not my idea of a good time. I really do wish I recorded my team’s run through CM. We wiped so many times, we were fighting the last boss in our whitey tighteys. Half of our reward was spent on fixing our armor, and I for one, never got 1 item that was even used by my profession as a reward.Im sure this is a troller bait post, but I for one will NEVER do another dungeon until these dungeons get the nerf hammer hardcore. And I mean smack em with it till they bleed.
MESSAGE TO ANET – DO NOT NERF DUNGEONS!
Infact to please the players that are unable to do them make a casual dungeon explore mode. Where is is easier and not much wiping…. BUT – Don’t reward any tokens for them and reward 1/10 of the silver reward.

Bosses should have locked off rooms or don’t allow way pointing the dungeons. Enough said. Dungeons are made hard for a reason. If you die because your team forget to res you or you make a vital mistake you shouldn’t have many many chances. It should be lockout while boss is in combat.
I remember back in WoW during the burning crusade expansion a friend was running a dungeon over and over for a weapon that dropped off the last boss that was supposed to be the best hunter weapon for his spec for a while, even better than the ones that dropped from the first raid… he was running it for the 15th time, it hadn’t dropped yet, 4 guildies and a PuG… the weapons drops… the PuG needs on it as well and wins the roll… I think I could hear him yelling all the way from Venezuela..
Seriously now, I guess the reason they didn’t make it like that would be the same other MMOs do it like they do it, to keep people playing longer. If you could get the full set of gear in 4 runs, everyone would have it by now, I’m guessing they want some things (like the dungeon sets) as more longer term goals. I do wish they had in-between goals, though, maybe other sets with lesser stats or that don’t look as cool that you could get easier from the dungeons while you try to get the big ones.
BTW, you’re not supposed to kill the guy again 10 minutes later or you’ll get diminished returns, you’re supposed to take the other paths in between..

Probably because there are multiple ways to get exotic gear and the dungeon armor sets are supposed to be the most prestigious skins you can get. They wouldn’t be very prestigious if they just handed them out like cookies after you finish a full run of an explorable dungeon, would they?
FYI the dungeon armor is not any better than the stuff you can get crafted or with karma, it just looks better.
It shouldn’t be time = gear. It should be ability = gear. Its not handing them out like cookies. If it’s hard enough that is.
Yup. Because most MMO’s you just kill something once then you have the best gear in the game. Then you quit. Usually takes about a week to a month then the game is over.
I’m saying do every path and then you get the gear. As long as you have the ability to do it you get the gear. If too many people are getting the gear increase the difficulty. It shouldn’t be time = gear. It should be ability = gear.
This is a no subscription MMORPG it doesn’t have to resort to time = gear.

Personally I’m fine with that. It’s ok if not everyone is. If infinite progression is what you want out of a game, there are plenty of other games that offer it. Each to their own. Just because this is an MMORPG, though, doesn’t mean it has to work on the same principles as every other one. It just has to be massively multi-player and be a role-playing game. Check.
Call of Duty so popular because of progression through ranking. World of warcraft so popular because of progression through gear. Starcraft so popular because of progression through ranking. Only reason I play sPvP and haven’t given up on the same maps again and again is because I get a buzz from ranking. We all strive for progression and it is what makes games soo popular.
Each guild wars 2 is gonna be successful and please the majority of people it needs a bit of progression. I hate to admit it…. it sucks… but it does. Otherwise a massive majority of players looking for their gear weed will go back to WoW and you may have what you want with a better community and all… but poor arenanet will lose out on alot of MONEYS!
Dungeons gear – How is should work.
Story mode + explore 1 + explore 2 + explore 3 = full set of gear.
I don’t want my immersion destroyed by killing the guy I just killed 10 minutes ago again. Surely it makes sense?
But this gear be sokittenshiney I really want it. Shall I break my immersion or shall I kill the guy 5 more times because the gear looks soo pwetty.
Shall I decide if I had fun in that dungeon and want to repeat a part of it or shall I let my natural gear progression mind take over and force myself to do something I didn’t enjoy to gain something that looks soo tempting.
Awwwwwwwkittenyou arenanet it looks too tempting… immersion broken.

If there was no gear progression already in guild wars 2 why is there dungeon currencies. If people are playing for fun and not making their players more powerful then arenanet should scrap the currency. But oh wait………… I guess they care more for the gear progression kittens.

Either way, if the point of mounts is to avoid the Waypoints cost, then it’s pretty much just going to cause even more problems. The money sink is there for a reason. Why would they create a fast way to travel for free? If they wanted that, then they would have just made WP free.
it’s not a way to avoid WP. It’s just a run speed increase. A mount is like a horse. Just get places faster. I mean most people wouldn’t run from Orr to Lions Arch even if they did have swiftness.

It’s not about the cost, it’s about the feel of the game. Have you ever played GW1? If so you should understand why mounts should never be in GW2 & it’s annoying when everyone is on mounts just to look ‘cool’.
It’s also annoying when everyone in PvE just wants to farm Citadel of Flame because the armor looks the “coolest”. Please……
PvE can be massively competitive in a fun way. I play PvP but PvE competition is different. It’s more of a race in most games on who can complete the content first, who has completed the most content and I find that part of PvE very fun. Without it PvE in my opinion seems useless once you done the story for everything. Meh.

same thing could be done with the temple events in Orr. Once you complete it you gain the gear so it feels like you have permanently impacted the game because you won’t have to go there again unless you enjoyed it.
