Don't Make Precursors Craftable

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

Here’s how I think precursor crafting will go down.

  • ArenaNet makes precursors craftable, the materials for it costing a good sum of gold (hundreds and hundreds of gold) and, if any achievements are tied to them (like taking the moa egg to the Sorrow’s Furnace in GW1 and fighting the Forgeman), will require hundreds of hours of gameplay and dedication and take the player all over the world and into WvW, and have them accomplish rough challenges (solo and guild challenges)
  • The precursor market does not change by much, precursors still sold for large sums of gold
  • The materials required for precursor crafting skyrocket in price through the roof
  • People find ways to rush the process of crafting a precursor, with bans and patches all around
  • _"Waaa waaaa I thought crafting precursors was going to make them easier to obtain ;-;! It would be easier to just play the Mystic Forge or get a rare drop! Waaaa!"
  • “I thought this game was supposed to be grind-free, ArenaNet! I’m qutting waaaaa!”
  • “I wanted a precursor for playing the game! Hey I exploited the hardest dungeon in GW2! I should get a reward for that! Crafting one is tooo hard ;-; please nerf, this isn’t fun, I thought this was going to be eeeeasssyyy!”

Calling it. Screenshot this post, there will be tears when this comes out. I’m also calling out the threads that will state that dumping rares/exotics into the Mystic Forge is easier than crafting one.

Basic Ore Node Pack

I was kind of hoping that upgrades like these could be earned through in-game rewards in the future once they add in player housing. You know, like a personal spot outside of your house with several mineral nodes to mine after you completed a player housing achievement or earned some “Gift of Copper/Silver/Gold/etc” through mystic forge crafting/RNG from mining nodes throughout the world. Then the same could be done with vegetation nodes through seeds for different plants, saplings for different trees, giving birth to a garden/forest somewhere around the player home.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Wildstar will have nodes that can be harvested in the land around their player homes, just thought it would have been a really neat thing to consider for GW2 as well.

Oh well.

I can mine these nodes more than once per day out in the game world and it wouldn’t cost me 800 gems. Unless this upgrade is only available for a limited time until it’s gone forever I don’t think it’s worth it.

Gem skin should be unlimited use - quick fix

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Jovel.5706

Some of you are straying off from the main topic of this thread.

GEM SKINS should be unlimited use.

Some of you are talking about all skins overall, which is a terrible idea. Armor and weapon skins that can be traded amongst players through the trading post like the quaggan and charr backpacks, the Bazaar of Four Winds aspect back skins, the Flame and Frost Jetpack, the Monocle from Aetherblade Retreat, etc. Those skins have value, there’s markets involved. Making them unlimited use after the first use, even character-wise, would plummet their value on the trading post. Just imagine people using the first Halloween armor and weapon skins with unlimited charges, or the Desert Rose/Zephyr Rutsack skins as well, surely the prices for these items would plummet downwards.

How about the skins that require Black Lion Claim Tickets? Those were never available straight out of the Gemstore since acquisition was randomly generated from chests, with the exception of the Wintersday weapons. These are also sold in the trading post, so what I said above applies to these skins too.

Now, living story/Holiday meta rewards such as:

  • Fused Gauntlets (Light/Medium/Heavy without exotic Sentinel stats)
  • Sclerite Karka Shell back skin (Without exotic Settler’s stats)
  • Fervid Censer back skin (Without rare Settler’s stats)
  • Gas Mask skin
  • King Toad’s Backpack cover
  • Storm Wizard’s Backpack cover
  • Mad Memoires back skin (Green Edition without masterwork stats)
  • Mad Memoires: Complete Edition back skin (Without rare stats)
  • Antitoxic Injector back skin
  • Toy Maker’s Bag back skin (Without the rare stats)
  • Holographic Shattered Dragon Wing cover
  • Wings of the Sunless back skin
  • Slickpack back skin
  • Horns of the Dragon skin (Light, Medium, and Heavy)
  • Mask of the Night skin

Should be unlimited use, since they cannot be sold to other players and are discontinued.

Back in the first Guild Wars game, this was the case. There was two little NPC’s that would charge you 10 gold (what could be described as a couple of copper coins in GW2) per festival hat to duplicate them on any character, for as many copies as you liked. The costumes ArenaNet and NCSoft sold in GW1 were also available for duplication through the Costume Maker NPC’s that often stood alongside Festival Hat Makers.

Festival hats and costumes were also worn in combat if the player desired, something else GW1 did right.

Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

I posted this issue 3 months ago, why is cultural armor still clipping on the races they’re supposed to be worn on?

Race: Norn
Sex: Female
Body type: Heaviest
Issue: The vest sinks into my stomach

Please ArenaNet, this body physique has so many clipping issues when it comes to armor. I’m not doing anything wrong, if you didn’t want me to pick this physique you shouldn’t have it available at the character creation screen. Go ahead and pick; light, medium, and heavy armor sets.. this physique has something clipping through it.

This is embarrassing.

Sorry if I’m sounding harsh, but if you’re going to pump out new content every 2-3 weeks and NOT fix horrid clipping issues between armor and character physiques… what are you really doing to your game? “Oh hey this person picked a heavy body preset that clips with most of the CULTURAL ARMORS (plus armors outside of the cultural vendors), let’s charge 350 gems so he/she can pick another.”

Why GW2 Releases Content The Way It Does

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

The first Guild Wars game was a CORPG that also didn’t have a subscription fee, also had a cash shop, and still released expansions/new campaigns as a way to earn money.

It’s not the B2P model, it’s the people managing it.

Crystin Cox is ArenaNet’s current Lead Monetization Producer since March, 2012. Has past experience at Nexon and NCSoft. Changed dyes from account bound to character bound during that time too, pre-launch.

Kristen Bornemann is ArenaNet’s current Head Development Director since August, 2012. Has past experience as a Software Design Engineer at Microsoft Game Studios. Also has experience at WB Games.

These people never worked on GW1, that explains a lot. Not factoring in the 2/3 founders that left ArenaNet on 2009 and 2010 (Patrick Wyatt and Jeff Strain), it’s clearly how the game is being managed and not the B2P model itself.

There’s probably more factors to add in towards ArenaNet’s shift in philosophy, but throwing quality out the window over quantity is not the correct decision in my personal opinion, especially to increase sales.

Mark Party Leader

This is a must. The owner of an instance has to be marked to avoid resetting the instance for leaving or kicking an offline player.

I used to play an MMORPG called Perfect World International a few years ago and party leadership could be traded amongst party members, that would be great for GW2.

But a simple mark that labels the instance owner/leader would be enough.

Toymaker Title -- Why Not Progressive?

in A Very Merry Wintersday

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

I agree with the OP, it would be cool if ArenaNet brought back that sort of title progression from GW1. Titles alone made people stick around to progress through title tracks, even before the Eye of the North expansion came out with the Hall of Monuments.

So a couple of Wintersdays from now, people who picked up GW2 and played for a couple of days have the chance to earn some crazy title like “Legendary Grandmaster Toymaker” while people who completed the meta for the very first Wintersday have “Apprentice Toymaker” to show for it?

Just seems backwards.

PvE armors and converted PvP armors

Since PvE players will be able to wear their armor sets in sPvP, what will happen to the skins I’ve converted into PvP?

  • Gemstore armors
  • Living story discontinued pieces
  • Valuable pieces like the Deathly Bull shoulder skins, Monocles, Jetpacks, etc
  • Holiday armor skins

Those who kept them in PvE are allowed to use them in sPvP, but those who converted them over to PvP won’t be able to use them for PvE? How about the gemstore armors? Are those stuck in sPvP too?

It doesn’t really seem fair to me. Am I missing something?

HOM: Rewards for 31 points and above

Jovel.5706

Judging from a recent trend of reskinned gemstore items, I wouldn’t be surprised if Anet took the HoM rewards, plastered them with fire, and sold them in the gemstore.

Also to those of you that are comparing the Fiery Dragon Sword with Jormag’s Breath (The Icy Dragon Sword from GW1), those two swords have noticeable differences:

  • Jormag’s Breath has a bulkier draconian hilt than the FDS, different models entirely.
  • They both have different flame lengths, with the FDS’s clipping into the ground.
  • The differences in flame color

Though similar, neither is left behind appearance-wise while having distinguishable differences.

Now go ahead and compare the Fellblade and Lord Taeres’ Shadow, the Fellblade 2.0 that drops from champion loot bags.

Lord Taeres’ Shadow didn’t exist in GW1, has the same hilt as the Fellblade, has the same shape of the blade, and has a better particle effect that resembles the one from the Fellblade concept art.

Yes, ArenaNet did say that 30 was the limit, but they also said that these rewards would be exclusive to GW1 players only. The ArenaNet from those times, from the times before GW2 launched, has shriveled up. I doubt they’ll add more rewards, or a reward for having the 50th point, since their schedule is full pasting Scarlet Briar everywhere, but if they’re selling burnt up reskins of the Pitfighter, Invader’s, and human T3 armor skins for $10 a pop then I’m sure they don’t have the slightest of interest in touching the HoM for any reason except for making a profit.

And I don’t blame them, I too would not waste resources that I’m already wasting on a living story.

Though, “30/50 is the limit” should be taken as seriously as “account-bound dyes” from that 2010 blogpost by ArenaNet. Remember that? 2010 was also the year that the HoM rewards calculator was released, what a coinkidink.

So, you buy a tv today because you like it. It has a lot of functionalities and the price is high, but you can afford that.

A week later they put a better tv and cheaper than yours, are you going to forbid people to buy it?

You was happy when you bought your tv, and they are happy with theirs, if you forbid them to have it, you are being a selfish and cheapskate (i’m not sure if this is the right word in english) person.

I have a norn with 2 pieces of T3 heavy armor, and i realy don’t care if they sell this for other classes, because it looks great on norns, but may look kitten in asuras or charrs. Same with the Flamekisser that look crap in fat norns and charrs.

Refrain from petty name-calling, doesn’t make you look good.

Let’s apply your analogy to one set of prestigious items. The problem with your analogy is that one item was NOT in the gemstore, while the cheaper and more adorned version is. What ArenaNet did this time around was take an armor mesh of a prestigious, expensive armor set, add flames to it, and sell it for alot cheaper. Not including the extra costs for the transmutation stones, it’s about a 50 gold difference between the two. Let’s also keep in mind that these are virtual armor skins in an MMORPG, a video game, not a television store where the primary goal is to sell you televisions, unlike in an MMORPG where the primary goal is for you to play a game, with microtransactions as a lesser goal.

I keep bringing this up, but let’s say several years down GW2’s life ArenaNet decides it’s time to profit on legendary weapons. They take several legendary weapons and reskin them, add more prominent particle effects, and sell them in the store for about 800 gems each.

We could use your analogy and tie legendary weapons to the Flamekissed armor skin. The armor itself is a skin, while the in-game T3 has yellow stats. The legendary weapon skins in the gemstore are skins alone, while the legendary weapons in-game have ascended stats, not raising any pay2win controversy while profiting off prestige items.

Do you blame the people who own legendary weapons when they get mad? Who is selfish here, the people who worked hard for their items, or the people who paid $10/half the amount of gold (59-65g) for their items?

Would you pay 1,500 gems for Flamekissed?

YES

Sorry, 1,500 gems + 240 for the 6 transmutation stones it takes for normal T3 to transmute over to exotic stats. So that’ll be 1,740 gems plus whatever you deem worthy of those flames, or else I’d just be normal T3.

Would you pay 2,000 gems? ;P lol

NO….
Infact i have a human…buying a T3 is not an option…its plain boring.
Helm expecially.

I’m not going to question your tastes on what makes armor exciting or boring, but just because you find an armor set boring doesn’t mean you don’t have options, you obviously choose not to buy the normal T3, but the fire-themed copy paste armor sparked your interest, charging you 11-FFFFTTTT.. wait, not 119g, like half that amount, was it 63g or something? See where it becomes inconsistent?

Also the amount of gems paid isn’t the only thing wrong with Flamekissed, it’s still cultural armor in the gemstore. Notice how nobody is really complaining about the flamed up Pit Fighter set, maybe about the WvW invader’s reskin, but most have an issue with cultural armor sold to all races. It would be great if all races could wear eachother’s cultural armor, but then why call it cultural armor?

I wish cultural reputation titles from GW1 were in GW2, or something along the lines of “impress this race, get privileges to buy their cultural armor.”

So if i get it right: We buy something with REAL money from Anet but begause some people dont like it we have to give it back… sounds fair…Stop acting like its hard to get a t3 also its still clear you got the “real” t3 so your t3 wearing status wont change:P
Anet made a great looking skin even better, be happy, it wasnt like wearing t3 made u special.
I wish all people that are against it put all this effort in getting rid of this armor put that same effort in getting Guildhalls, now that would be usefull^^

I agree with you on the cultural armor bit, it’s not hard to get if you dedicate time to making the 119g required, plus the money for the transmutation stones, plus the dungeon tokens/badges of honor/etc for the exotic pieces of armor, plus the runes you wish to buy. But the “difficulty” of acquiring the money for T3 cultural is besides the point.

Would you pay 1,500 gems for Flamekissed? That’s roughly the amount of gems required for 119g, not including the transmutation stones. If you do not see a problem with paying 800 gems for an improved version of a cultural set of armor that costs 119g with rare yellow stats, then nothing will change your mind lol. Also not everyone bought it with real cash, have to keep that in mind.

The differences between the “real T3” and Flamekissed are small, just flames, yet Flamekissed is cheaper. Doesn’t matter if you paid with real money or flew to Bellevue, Washington, visited ArenaNet, scrubbed their toilets, cleaned their offices, and threw out the trash, it doesn’t make selling improved prestige in the gemstore fair.

If they improved the T3 human light armor and made it available in-game, requiring the normal T3 before acquiring the Flamekissed set through the Mystic Forge or something, then that would be great. But for 10 dollars?

Nah.

i dislike repeating myself too…
What about suggesting something so you AND player who get the flamekissed are happy?

Instead of replying with non existent possibilities of a 1 out of a 1000000000 players that could in the future desire the old skin without flame?

Some ethic suggestion rather than totally onesided maybe?

I tried as you read…..out of the accident T3 owners would get the most out of it…..without damaging anyone.

And as i said your problem is exactly this “without damaging anyone”.

“Instead of replying with non existent possibilities of a 1 out of a 1000000000 players that could in the future desire the old skin without flame?” What are you basing your statement on? Where did you pull out those statistics? Don’t tell me you made them up on the spot because that hurts you, if not invalidates your entire argument.

“Some ethic suggestion rather than totally onesided maybe?” You’re failing to understand, selling T3 cultural armors in the gemstore is wrong, that’s as simple as I can honestly get lol. Here, want me to repeat? Selling cultural armor is wrong, it’s a nono, don’t do it, especially when one costs 119g and the other costs +59g, yet looks better.

Also, without damaging anyone? “Discontinuing the current T3 and giving everyone who currently has T3 the new design and letting them keep the old” doesn’t damage anyone? New human players, people who didn’t buy T3 yet, will be out of luck because you wanted to dress your asura in human cultural armor.

The only “least damaging” solution is to make flame version of all cultural armors, or all races’ T3 armors, and setting up Mystic Forge recipes.

People have a problem with you running around in T3 human cultural armor that 1) You only paid 59g for, 2) Your race’s armor is off limits, 3) Current cultural sets are more expensive than those in the cash shop, in this case Flamekissed.

The developers agree, or else they wouldn’t have pulled the Flamekissed armor out of the gemstore for appearing too similar to human T3. How could you not understand all of this?

to tell the truth i wither can understand your point or it seems to me you just like one side to lose something and that is your main purpose…

Destroying is infact all you can say….nothing constructive…….and your points are so weak that i don t think i could even discuss them

What more can I say? You know why your “solution” won’t work, you’re taking away far more than what has already been decided by ArenaNet. With your solution, future human characters would never be able to acquire the current T3 human light armor and the human race would have a new T3, which may or may not look as good as the current T3.

I haven’t provided a solution yet, but reinforce ArenaNet’s decision to keep that set out of the gemstore until it has been reworked, replacing all existing sets with that new design. I argued why leaving the Flamekissed armor set in the gemstore was a bad idea, what’s your argument towards leaving it in the gemstore?

It’s easy to understand why people were upset. Let me repeat myself for like the 6th time.

  • Flamekissed costs 59g last time I checked, half an hour ago was it? Compared to the 119g that costs for current T3 human light cultural armor.
  • Flamekissed, a gemstore armor, looked EXACTLY like T3, but with an added fire effect.
  • Flamekissed is a skin, meanwhile T3 human needs 119g + more gold for transmutation crystals needed to transmute over to exotic/ascended stats since 119g buys you.. rare yellow stats.
  • Flamekissed, strongly resembling T3 human light cultural armor, is available for all races.

Knowing all of this, why keep it in the game? ArenaNet constantly continues to support the barrier between races and their cultural armor, or else I would have less characters wearing other races’ cultural armor.

Again, stop looking through my posts for a solution because I’ve yet to discuss that. I like the “make every set of cultural armor like Flamekissed and make them upgrades on the Mystic Forge” but that still supports the barrier between cultural armors.

I dislike repeating myself, but I just did. You’re not losing an armor set, you’ll get the reworked Flamekissed, but it will NOT be T3 human.

I’ve read your thread too, LordByron, and I believe that someone has already challenged your suggestion by pointing out that some people prefer T3 without the added flame and removing that option from the in-game human race would mean that they could no longer obtain it, .

and as i said they are not entitled….
If you are familiar with the word “out of stock”.

Also its way more fair than taking away stuff from players.

You’re walking on very thin ice now by using the word “Entitled”, you better mean what you wrote from this point on because I think you’re failing to realize that you’re speaking about cultural race armor, not some whacky little toy for sale on a holiday.

I find that statement of yours to be like a cop out, “Oh you’re just entitled deal with it.” But at the same time cultural armor was never in limited supply, the armor mesh for the T3 human light armor was only available to humans until recently, why should humans have to give up a popular set of cultural armor, according to you FOREVER, just because recently it was added to be used for all races, for 59g, with added effects, and transmutable without the use of transmutation stones?

ArenaNet stopped the distribution of cultural armors amongst all races at the early days of GW2 when you could share them like Order armors, it’s clear that they do not want other races to share CULTURAL armor. This is further proven with ArenaNet’s recent announcement, including their mistake of the Flamekissed armor skin resembling the human T3 armor set way more than optimum.

Every race is entitled to their own cultural armor, it’s the reason why ArenaNet keeps reinforcing this and it is the reason why every race has cultural armor to begin with. You don’t see uneven quantities of cultural armors amongst all races, they all have three to choose from for light/medium/heavy.

Your argument remains destroyed.

Jovel…i struggle to find any logic in your posts….
Instead of looking for absurd exception to what a pleyr could want…..could you suggest a solution that is not good only for yourself but also for Anet and peope who bought the armor?

I don t think that “the fact that a cultural armor is changed with LOT of compensation” (explained why its Worth for anet also), is worst than deleting armors to player who got them with gems….and some of them bought gems expecially to get that look.

I d really like to know how many T3 owners would not agree with getting 2 free skins.ì one of wich exclusive forever…

Consider i totally HATE T3 i get that only because on a certain colour the flame effect has a really strange effect……a thing i don t expect from any other set.

(i have a human also)

if they told me…buy a T3 and keep your as it is i would….

I’ve yet to discuss a solution past that silly “in-game poll” idea that was suggested, so your search for one was for nothing since I’m arguing against the suggestion of even keeping the Flamekissed armor skin in the game, it resembles the T3 human light armor skin way too much, again, pointed out by ArenaNet themselves.

I’ve read your thread too, LordByron, and I believe that someone has already challenged your suggestion by pointing out that some people prefer T3 without the added flame and removing that option from the in-game human race would mean that they could no longer obtain it, unless they bought it before your suggestion took place.

Your counter to this was, “If you don t have it ou are not losing anything….”

This to you is a better idea than reworking the Flamekissed armor set? Nevermind STEALING an entire race’s cultural armor and replacing it with a new one that has the potential to not look as good as the current T3, but those who do not have the 119g to buy the T3 skin right now will be forever kittened if your idea goes comes true?

A person on your thread also wants to keep the Flamekissed armor skin, but suggested it to be an UPGRADE to the current T3 through the Mystic Forge, and wants the same to be done to all other cultural armors. That is a good idea for the Flamekissed armor skin, yours has been destroyed already.

So to conclude, your idea would basically steal an entire race’s T3 cultural armor, place it with some unseen armor set, give those who had the removed T3 the new one, but discontinue it forever for the new human players? No. I disagree and my argument to your idea has been summed up by someone else who provided a neat alternative to the acquisition of the Flamekissed armor set, as an upgrade to current T3 light human armor through the Mystic Forge.

The argument of, “It isn’t fair because every single player in the millions didn’t vote on a forum poll!” fails to stay consistent because that would mean that every suggestion and every discussion on the forums should be scrapped and every imbalance with the game should remain because every single player in the game isn’t an active user on the forums voicing their opinion for or against the imbalance at hand.

In other thread I supposed to make a pop-up in-game opinion poll – one vote per account. Than would be pretty fair. The situation is special, indeed. I never meant voting here.

And I will gladly agree with the in-game opinion poll, it will be OK. By now I see no objectiveness of Anet’s decision.

You’re right, that would be a special situation. But you seem to be quite confident that it would go in your favor, as I’m confident myself that it won’t and people will still try to persuade ArenaNet to sell improved T3 cultural armor skins.

This “in-game poll” is not real, but ArenaNet’s announcement is more than real, it’s underway as we speak. I also want to read your opinions on plugging this “in-game poll” idea of yours into a plausible situation. What if ArenaNet ever dares sell legendary weapon skins in the gemstore or other variations of prestigious skins in the gemstore?

Think about it, Skins =/= Weapons, it’s the reason why it’s considered “convenience” and not “pay to win” since selling legendary weapon skins means just that, skins, not the ability to change to different ascended stat spreads outside of battle. They could add effects to them as well, 800 gems each. Legendary weapons no longer need transmutation crystals, but my argument stands strong even without them, 119g is still alot higher than the 59g needed to buy the Flamekissed skin, just as 59g is much less than the +1,000g required to buy a legendary off the TP.

Tell me, should your in-game poll even try to defend such a gemstore decision?

I’m kitten ed out because Anet listened to one group of players and did to their bid, and the others are just messed. Let us vote and if pros for deleting the skin outnumber the cons, it will be fair enough, I won’t object. But my opinion was never asked at all. Now I will have to be disposed of the skin I liked. The thing is that aroud maybe two hundreds of players acted in the forum whining about culturals etc and Anet made changes without the opinion of other thousands!!! What gold? What gems?!!! Say if that is fair against simple opinion poll, and I’ll laugh at you.

As opposed to what, listening to people’s wallets and allowing improved versions of T3 cultural armors in the gemstore?

You’re belittling the opposite viewpoint, literally. You’re labeling them as “maybe two hundreds” but those who were for the new Flamekissed armor were in the thousands? If less people browse the forums, what makes you think the majority of players in-game will come here to vote on a poll?

That is not an argument, if more people were in favor of the new Flamekissed armor skin, that still isn’t a reason for people to bandwagon. Just because less people voice their opinions on the forums for gemstore decisions such as selling improved cultural armors, it shouldn’t remain unchallenged. Also, just because people don’t come here to point out the flaws with ArenaNet’s decision in selling the Flamekissed armor skin doesn’t mean people aren’t displeased, I’ve come in contact with people on PUG dungeon runs who have shown negativity towards the sale of the Flamekissed armor set.

You’re mad now, but imagine those who paid 119g + transmutation crystal costs for a rough draft, yes, a rough draft of the Flamekissed armor skin.

It’s clear that ArenaNet remains biased against the distribution of cultural armor amongst races. Bias is not always bad by the way, everyone is biased for and against something, it’s whether you can back up your bias with strong arguments and facts that gets the point across.

Also I will, maybe this will encourage ArenaNet to stop reskinning armor skins and charging $10 a piece for straight up reskins. It’s not like I’m against reskinning armors, want an example?

Straight from GW1, the Dervish armors.

Dervish Monument armor was a reskin of the Dervish Primeval armor

GW1 had examples of this done right, the Flamekissed armor skin was just T3 with flames on it :| are you kidding me? They’re redoing the armor and hopefully using the T3 human light armor mesh right, without being lazy spamming fire everywhere and charging 1/6th of the cost of GW2, it’s still ridiculous that they’re charging 800 gems for reskins.

what about this i wrote in suggestion?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Flamekiss-cultural-issue/first#post3279632

T3 owners gets 2 premium (an exclusive RARE armor and a cultural exclusive skin)
less work for anet
Flamekiss buyers are again happy….
If you agree post there please….

I agree for anything, just don’t remake the Flamekissed. But I think the opinion of gold-to gems converters is more important to ArenaNet than of people who pay real bucks to buy gems and who to help the game to live on, not just complaining of the fast-making money and etc… I would like to ask the whiners if they would work for free and make awesome things?

So all arguments and complaints are invalid and should be ignored just because someone uses the gold-to-gems conversion? You’re attacking the people making the argument, not the argument itself. That is also a false statement since people who are against cultural armor in the gemstore could just as likely use real money to buy gemstore items as those who pay with gold.

Your logical fallacy is further proven with your final question, “I would like to ask the whiners if they would work for free and make awesome things?”

  • They do not work for free, they get pay checks from their publisher, NCSoft.
  • Grabbing the T3 human light armor mesh and slapping a bunch of flames on them is lazy work not worth 1/6th of the cost of the game itself.

Let me make an analogy, it’s consistent and relevant because both of these items are prestigious and expensive, but will be sold in the gemstore for a fraction of their cost while having better effects.

Legendary weapon skins in the gemstore, that’s right. Both the T3 and legendary weapon skins are quite prestigious, one more prestigious than the other but that’s subjective, and selling legendary weapon skins in the gemstore WITH ADDED EFFECTS is just as hard of a slap to the face as selling T3 with better effects and for less than 119g.

“Oh stop crying about the new legendary skins, you probably used the gold-to-gem conversion! Would you work for free? huh?!”

It doesn’t matter if you liked the Flamekissed armor skin, I like the Norn cultural armors does that mean ArenaNet should reskin those and sell them for real cash?

Here, have some facts:

  • The Flamekissed armor set costed alot less than 119g, which is the price one has to pay for T3 cultural armor
  • The Flamekissed armor set, ontop of costing less, had an effect to it
  • The in-game T3 version, ontop of costing 119g, comes in rare yellow stats, meaning that if one wants to use T3 cultural armor with exotic/ascended stats MORE MONEY has to be spent for transmutations.. the Flamekissed set is a skin so it can be transmuted for free
  • The Flamekissed armor set, ontop of being cultural armor, could be worn by all races

Want to talk about fairness? Tell me the above points are fair to those who paid 119g + transmutation crystals for the same armor (without the fire effects) so we can laugh at you.

Cultural armor is named cultural for a reason, I made Norns just for their cultural armor, I made an Asura because I liked their cultural armor, I made Humans because I also liked their cultural armor, they shouldn’t be in the gemstore.

People with T3 complained…
What about releasing a new T3 and changing their or give them refunds?

Even easier ….just put an NPC that will change T3 with the new skin….

Your first solution sounds like this. “Hi ArenaNet, I like the [Norn/Asura/Charr/Sylvari/Human] cultural armors, can you delete their cultural armor, replace it with another armor mesh, and sell me the skin you deleted but with [fire/lightning/ice/wind/etc] effects on it? Kthx.”

Your second solution is giving people free gemstore items when they paid more (119g). Increasing the gem prices (from 800 to 1,500-1,600 gems) will not solve the issue because cultural armors are still being sold in the gemstore for 1,500-1,600 gems (since your “NPC” changes T3 with the new skin).

This raises the question, “Should cultural armor be sold to all races, or in the gemstore at all?”

I think ArenaNet has already answered that question with a big, fat NO. In the early days of GW2 people could use transmutation crystals to share cultural armors amongst other races, like the current Vigil, Order of Whispers, and Durmand Priory armor skins, ArenaNet patched that up quick.

Fact is that if you don’t like the new Flamekissed armor they’re about to change, send a ticket and get a refund.

So I spend the +100g to buy this armor in the game.

Spend the gold/real life cash to buy transmutation crystals to transmute it into level 80 exotics.

You then release the ascended tier, making it so that I now have to buy more transmutation crystals to use my T3 cultural armor with ascended stats.

All this, and now you release an updated version of the T3 light human cultural armor THAT ANY RACE CAN USE… for 800 gems?

kitten. You.

Tell me, how long will it take before LEGENDARY WEAPONS are given better effects and sold in the gemstore for 800 gems?

Don’t tell me they wouldn’t do that when they just did with a set of armor that costs 119g to buy with kittening rare stats, are you kittening kidding me?

In the past during the Flame and Frost living story step, we had the chance to receive a recipe for an infinite molten berserker tonic that was allowed to be traded in the trading post.

So I’m here to suggest the same treatment for the new krait tonic. I want to lend this tonic to a friend and since it’s account bound when crafted.. I can’t do that. Tweak the recipe if you must but making the new krait tonic tradable in the trading post would be great!

A dolyak minipet that’s probably going to be given out to all servers no matter the rank.

Blueprints worth 1-3 silver each for a good total of 9 silver.

250-1000 badges of honor since we don’t get enough from the achievement chests. /sarcasm

The game is more than a year old and I can still see players that I’ve blocked when they’re online, where they are located, and how many achievement points they’ve earned. I suppose it can work the other way around too. I may have blocked them but I’m probably on their list being tracked.

I agree with the OP, blocking someone should stop all communication with them. By that simply emotes, /invites to dungeon parties or /joining your dungeon party, and being able to see when you’re online, where you’re currently located, etc.

It’s only aiding stalkers and troublemakers.

Time to rethink town clothing

in Living World

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

Do I want to see a guardian run around in hotpants, blouse and bunny ears/ANet base cap? Me personally, no, that is the last thing I want to see in battle. (Not to mention: on opponents in WvW and PvP.)

Simple solution, town clothes shouldn’t be worn in player versus player instances.

Back in GW1 this was the case, you could never wear your festival hats and cash shop costumes to PvP maps. You could wear them in the lobby areas while waiting to get into a PvP match, but they were only available to be worn to battle in PvE instances and towns.

I also agree with Shriketalon.1937 above. Spectacles, bandanas, blindfolds, masks, etc were combat armor in GW1 with AR, why can’t we wear them to battle on the second game? People often argue that giving the option to wear gemstore town clothing would be “immersion-breaking” but at the same time we can have colorful plush backpacks as combat skins, among other skins that can be deemed silly. Not only that, we can hide our helmets, shoulder pieces, and gloves while in combat.. doesn’t that fall into the “immersion-breaking” category?

Potential Rewards for WvW Season 1 Issue

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

Don’t feel bad OP. Apparently the winners of a league within this first season get some finisher that gets taken away at the start of the next season, so you have to win it again. There’s no point to winning a 7 week struggle beyond regular bragging rights, you have nothing to show for it, but that’s the only “permanent” reward for finishing first/second within a league.

That and the same miniature dolyak pet that everyone, whether they won/lost, receives at the end plus a title that’s outranked by an HoM title “Legend of the Mists.” This is assuming everyone gets the dolyak of course, or even if the dolyak is in the WvW meta chest.

So far the WvW achievement chests I’ve received from killing 450 players, capping 30 towers, etc had what.. blueprints worth less than 1 silver each, some blues and greens.. maybe a rare, badges, stuff like that. Imagine how lackluster the contents of the final meta chest must be. So do not fret since you’re probably missing nothing of importance for coming in 6th place in the gold league.

no id hate to see thease outfits in battle they are DRESSUP items you dont dressup in battle what part of halloween dont you understand .. if thease were armor whats point in relasing them for halloween

1. Fluffy animal hats in the gemstore as town clothes.. but colorful plush backpacks as back piece combat skins, silly scimitar Halloween skin, SAB skins, Wintersday toy skins = not dress up?

2. “You don’t dress up in battle” but at the same time you can take off your shoulders, your gloves, AND your protective helmet in combat? I don’t mean taking off the equipment off your character, but unchecking the little box on their icon to hide them. You can do that, but not wear spectacles/holiday hats/bandanas/etc like in GW1? And miss out on the awesome costume brawling that comes with them? No way.

Sorry, I see your point of view and choose to disagree (or at least not care). There are many good looking armors in game.
And yes these would, (aside from ridiculous giant pumpkin heads) look pretty neat as armor too. BUT. Thats not what they are for, so deal with. If it was normal armor they would have to have 3 different skins and not just 1 for each of them, to make it heavy, med and light, and certainly then someone would be disapointed.

I disagree with you, the first game allowed us to wear cash shop outfits and holiday hats to battle even if they were silly plastic cat ears or Christmas hats, so why not? “There are many good looking armors in game” is not an excuse, many people bash on gemstore town clothing because they cannot be worn to battle, upgrading them might help ArenaNet make more sales AND provide more variety of customization, since it’s clear that ArenaNet doesn’t care about the vast quantities of clipping issues that plagues almost all of their armor sets in-game, even cultural armors on the races they’re supposed to be worn on.

Also toy weapons are the items that start costume brawl, not the actual outfits themselves. You could be wearing the Wintersday outfit while using the Witch’s Broom and only the broom will allow you to costume brawl.

What should I do with this?

Craft into bricks or delete if you’re not interested in ascended items.

Then cry when the dust is used to make ascended potions (artificer), ascended foods (chef), or used for something else that isn’t tied to ascended weapons and armor, giving it value to counter the excess amounts people are getting every day.

Surely you’ll be kicking yourself then, but what if they nerf the amount of bloodstone dust received from champion bags?

Unnecessary, required organization

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

After reading through a couple of threads and attempting to understand different viewpoints on the new Tequatl revamp, I’ve come to a conclusion of my own. Before I state it though, I would like to clarify that:

  • I’m not against challenging content in INSTANCED areas.
  • I’m not against anti-zerg mechanics in world boss fights.
  • I’m not against people using voice chat clients to complete content faster/more effectively.
  • If ArenaNet is against raids/increased party size in dungeons because “it takes too long for people to form groups” then why would they pull a 180 on that philosophy for an open world boss?

Open world boss events shouldn’t require voice chat programs to be completed. In fact, I would even say that it’s a strict requirement. I’ve yet to hear rumors of a specific server, not an overflow, that has defeated Tequatl without strong cooperation/communication through voice chat programs (mumble, skype, ventrilo, teamspeak, etc). I did hear a rumor that an overflow has completed the Tequatl event though, but again I wouldn’t doubt it if voice chat programs were involved in the success of the overflow.

There are barriers to this however, and it’s worse in overflows.

  • Not everyone has a voice chat program installed on their computer, own mics, and/or are willing to listen/speak with strangers just to defeat an open world boss. Even in main servers, not everyone wants to interact with strangers past text chat for the sake of completing an event. It’s fine if this sort of interaction is optional, but once you make it a requirement it’s crossing a line.
  • The time between each encounter with Tequatl. It puts people to sleep/AFK and turret players are no exception. An entire zerg of lives depending the experience and knowledge of six people on turrets is a step in the WRONG direction.
  • Unofficial Tequatl-slaying servers (BG, TC, etc).
    1) Low pop servers do not have the numbers or the coordination to beat him, thus guesting over to such servers.
    2) Players native to those servers are automatically kicked down to overflows when they paid large amounts of gems to be on that server in the first place.
  • Eventually, higher priorities will get in the way of the guilds who coordinate for these world boss fights, ending the prime time of successful Tequatl runs.

But supporters of Tequatl are right about one thing, there has to be large-scale events that require good organization and communication, unfortunately ArenaNet’s priority list doesn’t have guilds, you know.. in GUILD Wars 2, at the top of the list. No Guild Halls, No instanced Guild Missions where the progress isn’t stolen by another guild following behind, no Guild vs Guild (which plagues World vs World in certain corners), etc. Supporters of the revamped Tequatl want harder, much more challenging group content because let’s face it.. dungeons are pretty Easy Mode right now. Isn’t it the best time to introduce Elite Missions/Dungeons into GW2? That way, ArenaNet can revamp the current dungeons without going overboard and still Tequatl’fy content, making them Elite Dungeons.

Implementing, or even mentioning, raids has a stigma in the Guild Wars community. But turning world boss fights into kittening raids isn’t the answer.

I’m not saying that world bosses should be killed in seconds, just don’t make it so that the success of the mission revolves around 6 people who may or may not be at the keyboard, inexperienced, or both. No wonder voice chat is heavily recommended for the new Tequatl, that’s where ArenaNet went wrong and at this point they would have to either:

  • Increase the amount of poison field-cleansing turrets in the area.
  • Nerf Tequatl’s poison fields.

I’m going to jump into the bandwagon and say that I’ve been having… HORRRRRRRRIBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE lag issues today as soon as I tried out the new LFG tool beta, I mean I haven’t been doing dungeons lately because I’ve been waiting for a stable, convenient tool to use within the game and once I’m finally allowed to use it.. it destroyed me.

First dungeon I tried was CoF and at first it put me in the wrong CoF instance as the rest of my party then disconnected me.. with a kittening red screen in my character selection screen? I had to relog and my level 80 guardian was at 0% world completion, made me panic, but I was able to relog outside the gates of the Citadel of Flame.

Second dungeon was SE path 1, I didn’t make it past the portal because apparently I dived into the lava? I was waiting with my party at the usual safe spot so the little asuras can walk past us and all of a sudden.. instakill, died on the spot with my party laughing at me because somehow, I fell into the lava instead of crossing the bridge. Throughout the entire dungeon path I’ve had nothing but horrible delays that kept me from looting dungeon chests, attacking monsters, and rubberbanding me back to spots I’ve crossed before.

I’ve done ALOT of dungeons ArenaNet. I’m over 4k hours in playing this game, and this is the most lag I’ve ever had in those 4k hours and what a coincidence.. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ERROR I’VE BEEN HAVING TONIGHT!

This is an issue with the T3 medium cultural armor vest. I’ve chosen the thickest and most voluptuous figure available for female Norns and apparently my hips and stomach clip through the leather of the vest (as seen on both screenshots). On the first screenshot, I’m not wearing leggings or gloves to show that it’s solely the vest that clips into my character. On the second screenshot I’m including my medium vigil leggings to show that the vigil leggings clip horribly into the T3 cultural armor vest as well.

Please fix this ArenaNet, I’ve been waiting so long for a fix to this issue and wearing this to battle, or even in town, is embarrassing because of the clipping. Cultural armor shouldn’t be clipping on the races they’re supposed to be worn on.

Thank you!

I also think miniatures are fine where they are, they’re collectable pets. It would be nice if we were given a check-list of items we would and would not want to be deposited into our account vaults when we use the “deposit all collectables” option in our inventories, that way materials can be deposited and minipets stay in our inventory. Spending the coin on a 20 slot invisible bag.. I don’t need 20 invisible slots lol I just need 1 for a mini, but other than that there’s nothing wrong with minipets.

Giving miniatures different bonuses is a bad idea, imagine all the people complaining that their exotic-rarity minipets are just as effective as fine/masterwork-rarity minipets.

Wearing Town Headgear in the PvE World

in Suggestions

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

As the title suggest, I am here to ask for the ability to wear town headgear during combat in the PvE world.

To this day, you can walk around with your gloves, helmet, and shoulders hidden from view in PvE, PvP, and WvW. You can also hide your backpiece, but then again hiding a big pink Quaggan backpack makes more sense than running into combat without gauntlets, a protective helmet, and a mantle to keep your shoulders covered. So why were these armor pieces allowed to be hidden? For customization purposes? To allow the player more options when it comes to their combat armor? To give the player the option to hide those distracting shoulders that clip with the rest of your armor or those glitchy gloves of yours that sink into your hands during your idle animation?

Well I think giving us the option to charge into battle wearing town headgear will do just that add more customization for the player to enjoy.

There’s already plush Quaggan/Charr backpieces in the game as combat skins, why not allow us to wear the fluffy hats on the gemstore? Spectacles were ACTUAL ARMOR in the first game, it came in normal, tinted, and slim varieties, why can’t we wear them to battle in the second game? A Ringmaster’kitten would look great on someone wearing matching colorful armor!

Think about it. The players get more customization options to choose from while increasing attention to headgear on the gemstore both ArenaNet, NCSoft, and the playerbase win! By only allowing the headgear to be displayed in combat, ArenaNet can still sell armor skins so nothing conflicts in this new addition to player customization. Skins you buy from the gemstore like the Mask of the Jubilee do not require Fine Transmutation Crystals to transfer onto armor, so it will not conflict with the sale of Fine Transmutation Crystals in the gemstore.

But what about my immersion?

  • There’s already plush backpacks on the TP and gemstore as combat back pieces.
  • As I stated in the beginning of the thread, you can run into battle wearing no helmet, mask, or circlet. That should be immersion-breaking enough, right? If we can do that, why can’t we wear a pair of reading spectacles that was armor in GW1 that gave 60-80 AR?
  • Town headgear gives no advantages in Costume Brawl, the town item that initiates a costume brawl is the Toy Weapon as well as skills from a tonic, ArenaNet recently introduced Combat Transformations to allow us to use tonics during combat.
  • Your profession is visible by every player that clicks on you and joins your party/invites you to a party in PvE as well as sPvP matches. It will not hide your profession like it may in WvW. The first game didn’t allow cash shop/holiday outfits into PvP areas anyways except for the lobbies. Wearing a gemstore/holiday hat will not hide the heavy iron armor or the light robes you’re wearing in WvW/sPvP anyways, so if the devs and the community are fine with it then allow it.
