Queen's Gauntlet glitched/broken

I went AFK for 30 minutes after attempting to defeat Liadri, which I did end up doing and she was the only reason I attended the Queen’s Gauntlet today.

So I put my berserker’s gear back on, change my build back to what I normally use in dungeons, change my graphic settings back, and use the portal to get out of the arena and back into Divinity’s Reach.

I use it, stay in the loading screen with the Queen’s Gauntlet concept art until it changes to DR’s concept art, then I get disconnected with a message blaming my computer for the disconnection.

I log back in, pick another character, and login just fine. But now my guardian that is now stuck in the Queen’s Gauntlet has 0% world completion from the +80% she had and everytime I go on her I end up with the Queen’s Gauntlet concept art loading screen in my client before it changes to the Divinity’s Reach one and crashes again.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

How exactly is it a mistake. Are you one of the people who is selling a skin for 500 gold or something? Are you trying to keep your investment?

Adding these past skins is actually a great idea, because not only are there serious problems with temporary content but there are serious problems with the TP price hikes and there are serious problems with the sheer lack of skins that Anet has in the game right now.

I read both of your comments and I would suggest you stay on topic and read the OP post completely before you make wild assumptions about a person, belittling the person instead of approaching the arguments that person has laid out makes you look clueless and I think you are, since you asked a question that was already answered in my posts.

But here let me repeat and this is an opinion of mine as stated in the OP post, others disagree and that’s fine, but the problems still remain. I believe that reintroducing these untradable, unpurchasable, EARNED living story meta achievement skins back into the game for recycled content is a mistake because one can assume that Living Story Season 2 rewards can be earned again way after it’s over and season 3 is next. These rewards were locked with special daily achievements, grindy achievements that mimic standard MMORPG quests, and hard achievements that required the player to do specific tasks within instances. If ArenaNet does indeed reintroduce these items without the same measure of investment..

Why should anyone do Season 2 content? Oh that’s too hard and to get enough progression in the main achievement that requires 10, 12, 16, etc achievements done for the item I need to do some special dailies too.. hmmm… let me ignore all of this content I don’t want to do and get my items during the next dragon bash lol.

I myself am jumping to conclusions. I don’t know how these meta achievement items will be earned on the 20th, the only “evidence” of this being from people who attended the beta festival in China. The Chinese client totally deserves this since they were never here for the first season of the living story, but us NA/EU players have experienced these events and depending on how these meta achievement skins are earned next Tuesday it will be unfair for those who earned them.

Problem to that is that certain achievements cannot be done anymore because, obviously, the story of the first season of the living story is done. I do not like temporary content either but it’s what we had and if you all want to speak about “fairness” the people who want those items need to work for them just as we did.

The loss of prestige is my subjective approach to the introduction. To reply with Tigirius’ assumptions no I am not holding any tradable Black Lion weapons and I am not profiting from such items, which is also not wrong. If you want to complain about the high pricing of these items blame ArenaNet for boosting the tickets required from 1 to 5 and the RNG that comes from Black Lion Chests/Keys. The Living Story meta achievement skins cannot be sold, cannot be bought, cannot be mailed, they are account bound. Nobody is profiting from keeping them, there are even similar skins like the Dessert Rose and Fervid Censor.

So I believe that the meta achievement skins do deserve to be prestigious, they are rewards for those who played the content when it was available. People will disagree with this view and that’s okay you’re entitled to doing so, but there is no denying that reintroducing them this late after season 1 will diminish the prestige of owning them and depending on how they are earned on the 20th it will also slap those who earned them.

Since “one time items” aren’t really prestigious one time items, how about reintroducing the 1st Halloween devil horns, the Wintersday ear muffs, the launch day GW2 celebration hat, and the GW2 dragon emblem shirt as rewards for some unrelated event as well? It’s “not fair” that players who just bought the game or quit a month after lunch weren’t able to get them. In fact nothing should stay prestigious lol. The wizard hat from Wintersday? How about the mini Mr. Sparkles back as a gemstore purchase after people bought it for 4,000 gems? The green quaggan backpack?

I’m sure people will be frustrated if those items were reintroduced. But it’s okay, it’s fair.

Ontop of this it would be another slap if they just handed them out with simple tasks, not 16 achievements completed for one back piece, or 20 achievements that have some locked behind dailies per item. All this would be telling the player base is that you should not waste the time to earn these things because months after the entire season is finished you’ll be able to grab them again.

Again, jumping to conclusions, but I doubt ArenaNet will make people grind (yes grind, nobody in their right mind would kill 250 aetherblades that spawn in groups of 5-6 for 1/12 of the progress for 1 living story item) for these things.

Why should anyone bother to do season 2 living story “kill 300 rats and speak these NPC’s” achievements anymore when the same stuff comes back months after the season is over?

What exactly is a ‘chance to get guaranteed’ rewards? Seems like an oxymoron to me. Either it is a chance, or it is guaranteed. Maybe I don’t understand…..

Maybe a chance at “boxes” or “chests” that have a randomly generated chance at dropping with guaranteed choice of living story meta achievement items inside?

Since the upcoming event is not part of any living story season 2 content, I am going to make the thread here. Not posting this on the Festival of the Four Winds thread seeing as this isn’t about the festival itself, but the rewards that are rumored to be in it.

On the Festival of the Four Winds page at the dulfy website it is written that past living story meta achievement items will be returning as guaranteed rewards. With the exception of the monocle and jetpack for NA/EU.

http://dulfy.net/2014/05/13/gw2-announces-festival-of-the-four-winds/

Personally I hope the meta achievement “one time only” items stay that way and that the people who attended the Chinese Beta festival misinterpreted that announcement. It would make sense to introduce them to Chinese players as rewards since they weren’t here for the first season of the living story. But reintroducing them as rewards for NA/EU players is a mistake.

Reintroducing living story meta achievement rewards after their associated season is over is the same as reintroducing holiday items months/years after the associated holiday is over. It ruins the prestige and the status of the item like it ruined festival hats in GW1. By doing this they are hurting the game, since the content can be skipped/ignored for a 2nd chance at getting the item way later when the LS season is over. While the content may be fun to play, certain achievements during the 1st LS season were tedious and grindy and the only motivation to doing achievements (read: kill 10 rats and fix 100 signs standard MMORPG quests) is the hat, gloves, back piece, etc at the end.

I may be jumping to conclusions, this patch hits in 5-6 days and the only sure way to know if this is true or not is when the 20th hits, but it’s something I wanted to make a thread about to see reactions and different opinions on the subject.

There’s also two nude dryads on the Living Short Bow from the HoM and a topless mermaid with like 9 breasts on the.. long bow? The pirate bow at the end of the pirate jumping puzzle in LA.

It’s art so it’s okay lol. If a woman can squat over a stand in plain view buck naked, push eggs filled with paint into her kitten, and push them out to represent “birth of the painting” over a blank canvass then fold it to create “art,” then having nude humanoids on weapons and armor should be okay.

That woman was backed up by feminists too lol, personally I found it disgusting. I will not be posting a link to the vid since it’s NSFW but it happened! PlopEgg I think it’s called, it’s censored with little black bars but still.

Hoods, Hats, Caps, with hair. PLEASE?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Jovel.5706

I remember when I used to play TERA they gave your character 2 hairstyles.

The one you picked at the character customization that your character used on all outfits.

Then another that was shorter and worked with the outfit so it did not clip. A “tied up” hairstyle that reduced the clipping while still keeping the hair and the chosen hair color of the character.

I think that would be better than the current limitations. Have us pick 1 normal hairstyle and then a “tied up” secondary hairstyle that we can toggle on and off from the general options window. Maybe a check box at the general options window that enables/disables the secondary “tied up” hairstyle?

I’m sure there are hairstyles in GW2 that could actually work with hoods, hats, and caps without having to delete the character’s hair.

I think it would work! ArenaNet can still sell unique hairstyles through their makeover kit while solving the bald “solution” to headgear clipping.

Jovel.5706

About a month ago or so my account was hacked, my email compromised, and my bank/guild bank cleared. So I already used up my account’s only roll back.

I do daily virus scans on my computer, use CCleaner after every session, change my passwords to 20-30 character long words. I also change those passwords every month on all accounts that I care about, using a unique password for each one. Ontop of this I made a new email and got it switched since I couldn’t retrieve the compromised one, this new email is not known by anyone and I have not used it outside of GW2.

Just now I got disconnected from a CoF run, my client shut down, and a message telling me that my gameplay privileges, or something like that, were on hold and that I’d have to send a ticket to the support team. I don’t remember the exact message I got that didn’t let me login the first time, but my email has secondary sign in verification and my account has email verification, none showed any problems. I also checked my recent sign in on my GW2 account and they’re all my IP and the texas IP. Doesn’t look like I was compromised, yet.

The message ArenaNet sent to me when I prepurchased may have still been on my old email, with the key used for GW2. The hacker does not have my GW1 key, the credit card info used to buy GW2, etc. Possibly only my GW2 key, that’s because I’m not sure if I deleted the message or not.

Is there a risk the hacker could use my GW2 key to switch emails on me to something that he/she controls? Despite me having more information on my account than just 1 GW2 key? What should I make of messages like the one I just got?

Anet just add Precursor vendor!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

So instead of precursors requiring progress throughout the entire game (WvW, sPvP, and PvE) you think they should just add a vendor that sells them for 500g?

Please no. I remember them saying that they are not aiming to make precursors cheaper and I cannot provide a source but I also remember reading that ArenaNet wants precursors to require progress in ALL areas of the game.

I interpret that as requiring the player to succeed in sPvP, PvE, and WvW. To me that means completing reward tracks and getting a certain rank in sPvP, gathering Badges of Honor and killing a certain number of people in WvW as well as helping out whether or not your server is winning or losing the match, and progressing through PvE dungeons, mini dungeons, world completion, the personal story, completing dynamic events throughout all zones, completing dynamic events within dungeons, defeating world bosses, guild missions, jumping puzzles, general achievement completion, participating in weekly minigames/activities, etc.

Sending the player throughout the entire game and succeeding in those areas of the game to earn their precursor. Even adding on to this. Plugging up all of the exploits/safe holes in dungeons, fixing the AI of mobs so they no longer stay clustered up in stacks and get out of AoE’s like in GW1, adding elite dungeons that 1) force groups to start all over if the entire party wipes like in GW1 and 2) have several “quests” like in FoW and UW that can be completed at any order, solo instances scattered throughout the entire game world with bosses like Liadri and the other Queen’s Gauntlet bosses, even a “Black Moa Chick”-esque mission that sends the player throughout different parts of the game to progress in 1 part of the precursor, and hard mode for dungeons that provides more skill unlocks for mobs and gambits like no heal skills, a time limit on completing the dungeon, slowed attack speed, etc.

Actually challenging content and spreading of the community throughout all parts of the game. Not just adding a vendor with all precursors for 500g :\

Past gemstore town clothes in TP

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

I agree that the way the town clothes were handled was very poorly done.

And while I myself was never into town clothes, I think what they should have done was turn the town clothes into skins applicable to both PvE and PvP gear.

No one wants clothes to be tonics, because 1) you can’t mix and match, and 2) you can’t admire them whilst in combat.

I do think they should be tradeable or purchasable by the gemstore, but turned into skins, not endless tonics.

Purchasable through the gemstore for sure, but I think it’s a little too late to be changing them into skins after that.. what was it.. 30 page thread on their decision for town clothing? I also remember them mentioning their opinion regarding those clothes, themed “unfitting for combat” or “too casual for combat” according to ArenaNet. I have no link to the interview, but it was an interview prior to the launch of the feature patch.

I disagree with these items being purchasable through the trading post, I find it as ridiculous as allowing players to buy the sPvP Balthazar back piece that ArenaNet recently corrected into being account bound. These items shouldn’t be tradeable because they were not tradeable prior to their change into tonics AND because they were mentioned to not be available pass December 17, 2013.

This is just messed up. Not only did our clothing get forced into being tonics that cannot be dyed or mixed around, they can be bought right now for easy gold when they costed alot more back when they were gems?

Nobody sees an issue with this?

Bring back Bunny Ears please

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

Hmm.. so ontop of making the discontinued town clothes sellable in the trading post for like 2g-10g each piece when they costed hundreds of gems in 2013, turned them into tonics that cannot be dyed or mixed up, now they should go back on their word about the “The Style category of the Gem Store is being streamlined, and the following pieces will no longer be available starting December 17^th^” bit?

They shouldn’t have taken those items out of the gemstore in the first place, but kitten .. what a way to lie. I have mixed feelings about items such as the bunny ears and aviator’s glasses coming back, they might as well do it but it would be a huge slap to those who bought items when they were ripped out of the gemstore on early December for no good reason given other than the gemstore being “streamlined” with other items such as the Khaki Cargo Shorts going for less than 2g at the moment when it was 150 gems in 2013.

I’m sorry, that’s just kittened up. Bringing them back would just add on to the deceit.

Past gemstore town clothes in TP

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

I’m surprised there is no thread on the first page addressing this issue.

When the feature patch hit the sPvP reward Balthazar skin could be bought from the trading post when it was intended to be an account bound reward. Of course ArenaNet changed this, but I believe that the “town tonics,” the tonics that were previously discontinued town clothes, are also part of the same mistake that affected the Balthazar back skin.

These items costed gems. These items were discontinued and we were told that they will no longer be available starting December 17

200 gems. 400 gems. Gems were not cheap back then with gold and players spent real money on those items. You can buy items such as the Khaki Cargo Shorts for less than 2 gold, other items such as the Casual Hoodie cost 5g.

So ontop of giving us a dead line and discontinuing these items claiming that they would no longer be purchasable after the 17th of December, 2013.. anyone can buy them now for less than when they costed gems AND they were turned into tonics?

Nice way to treat your players, why not make an announcement declaring that as of April 29 we will no longer be able to buy finishers off the gemstore, only a couple months later they can all be bought from the TP at 10g a piece.

These items, now degraded into “clothing tonics” were not able to be traded amongst players when they were actual town clothes, in my opinion they should be reverted back to being account bound.

Suggestion: Pin Number System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

I’ve recently went through an account compromise as well as my email getting hacked and all items on my account, every single item in my account vault AND my 150 slot guild bank were taken, sold in the TP, and the money was probably transferred to the hacker’s account, I would assume. It was a terrible experience and I gave up hope of ever getting back my GW2 account, since my email was also compromised. Fortunately these issues were taken care of and the good people at ArenaNet had enough evidence to support my ownership of the account and restored my items, all of which I’m grateful for! All items except the 70-80 stacks of materials and named weapons in my guild bank were restored, in the end I was happy just to be back on my own account.

But it got me thinking. There is nothing in place to stop hackers from invading an account vault/guild stash right away. When the hacker enters your account all they would need to do is open up your vault, take everything, and then sell the items in the account.

I believe there should be an option for a “pin number” system similar to what RuneScape had around 2007-2009 since those were my last years playing that MMORPG. As I remember it you’d ask the banker NPC to implement a pin number, numbers 0-9 and all buttons that switched places every time a button was pushed. If you forgot the pin number you would have to wait 7 days (1 week) for it to reset. During that period you could use a nearby deposit stall to throw items into your bank, just place the items inside and accept them if your bank had room, no withdraw option whatsoever until the pin number was presented during that 1 week period.

A system similar to this would definitely add more security to an account during a compromise. Just the option for it would be great, so those of us that want our vaults/guild banks locked and secure feel safer while those who do not want the extra step to access their vault/guild bank are not forced to remember a digit code and feel inconvenienced.

This was my first time getting hacked and I’ve learned from it. Changed the passwords of all accounts I care about and they’re all unique. I run daily scans on my computer and I’ll be changing my passwords on a monthly routine. Yet I do not feel as safe as I should.

  • How would you feel about a system like this?
  • Should there be any additions? Such as the same pin number for vault/guild bank access used before a character is deleted? Before items are deleted?
  • Should this “pin number” code be presented before every access to the vault/guild bank, or just once before granting free access until you logout?

I have the complete edition of the Mad Memoires, the flaming book from the first Halloween, and unfortunately I threw away the green incomplete version you required to obtain the complete edition. The first, green version of Mad Memoires was required along with more pages that were added in the Act 2 of the first Halloween to obtain the complete edition of the Mad Memoires, though both were left for separate use with the complete version having rare stats and better stats than the incomplete version.

There is no way someone out there is walking around with the complete version without having done Act 1’s quest on finding all the pages for the incomplete version of Mad Memoires. I think owning the complete version is enough evidence to support the ownership of the incomplete green version of the book back piece.

I do understand that my request could be denied since this is technically my fault, destroyed it after I got the flaming version, but having said what I said I’m still hopeful ArenaNet would reconsider an unlock for the first version of Mad Memoires if you own the complete version..

Also the Lidless Eye isn’t unlocked for owning the Eye of Rodgort! Please fix!

How would you handle different levels, different tiers of armors (ascended/exotic/masterwork/etc), and excessive challenge requests/dueling abuse?

What areas of the game should dueling NOT be allowed on? WvW, sPvP lobby, dungeons?

Should dueling be gated behind a certain level? As in the participants should be at least level 30 and have an elite skill and all weapon skills unlocked before dueling? It’s easy enough as is since just equipping a weapon at level 30 should unlock all of the skills on that weapon except the 5th. If not, then are you okay with ascended level 80’s berating and instigating level 20 players who don’t have an elite skill yet?

So wait, these “endless clothing tonics” can only be used one at a time and cannot stack with others?

WHY? What is the point of wearing one of the vests, hoodies, or the shorts if you can’t mix and match like you can right now?

What is the point of turning old town clothes into tonics of all things? Do you hate those town clothes Anet? I mean I’d understand if you as a company held the opinion that casual clothes shouldn’t be used in combat, something I’d disagree with since some of your NPC’s seem to be exempt from that reasoning, but not allowing us to mix and match those old town clothes?

It’s not like current light/heavy armor sets are less skimpy than wearing the shorts and vests together, those revealing garments are fine but the old town clothing are not? According to some of the scenes and previews on your latest video on the wardrobe (next to the cute frog hat of course) you seem to have exempt the old town headgear from the tonic treatment, but the old clothes are not.

Don’t erase the ability to mix them up at least, it’s fine if you don’t want people walking around in hoodies and shorts in combat, but at least leave the option in to mix and match the old town clothing out of combat like it is now. Anything is better than wasting their potential on tonics that can only be used one at a time.

Bump..

Still don’t understand how town clothes will work. The recent addition to the feature patch page says:

“Purchasing an outfit will unlock it for all characters on your account to use. Outfits will replace the look of equipped armors, are equipped in a separate appearance slot, and do not require Transmutation Charges to use.”

Does that mean we can finally wear town clothes over our armor skins? I want to be extra sure lol this all seems like a dream x_x am I dreaming?

“Some basic clothing items that are no longer available for purchase will be converted into endless tonics.”

Does that mean endless combat tonics? A large portion of the town clothes that used to be in the gemstore were removed and I always wanted to wear the head gear in combat.. the variations of glasses, the bunny ears, and my first celebration hat.. will I have to constantly reapply them? What about the tonics for different parts of the body, like for the hoodie skins and vests? In this case are the tonics still limited to one at a time, or can multiple clothing tonics be used?

Changing them to tonics seems odd to me, why not treat them as outfits that can be worn over armor? At least the old headgear (spectacles and bunny ears).. pls..

2,000+ gold is a worthy cost for this rare item, since all new hairstyles will continue to be added onto it. Also for the fact that you can use the exclusive colors AND change the ears of sylvari and asura characters. All for free, as many times as you like.

I know someone who got theirs from opening a black lion chest, so they can still drop.

But if ArenaNet ever decides to get rid of black lion key farming, the chances of ever seeing at least 1 in the trading post will be so slim.. might as well say 0. There’s people who would use theirs right away too, so I’m not surprised one hasn’t been displayed in the trading post for months.

Would be nice if they included them in future RNG boxes, like the one it came with during Wintersday. Selling it straight away without RNG in the gemstore with a high gem price would be even more nice.

But at this rate it’s just taking up a space with the legendary weapons. If they do not want to add this item into the game they should just stop buy and sell orders for the permanent hair stylist contract and leave it in the game for those who have one.

There’s already wings in the game. If I can remember.. 2 are from LS (Tequatl and Shattered) while 2 are permanent additions (Normal holographic dragon and the ascended Wings of Dwayna).

Back pieces that big will clip with everything. I have never played Aion and just looking at those pictures says that the glowing effects will be rough on the servers, you might as well fill a map with 500 people stacked with multiple legendary auras. I’ve walked next to a person like that in LA before it got sieged, lagged just from that person standing near me.

Wouldn’t capes/cloaks be nicer? Way more fitting than transparent flapping Christmas trees. With wings like that you’re begging to be turned into a jumbled, clipping mess with glowing effects.

You can’t even fly in GW2, it’s like buying an air plane just to drag it around town.

Don’t turn this into Perfect World International, go make an elf and waste hundreds of dollars on RNG lucky chests for gigantic flashing multicolored lightbulb wings. Leave the transparent wings for Dwayna and her avatars.

An way to store Living Story meta achievement skins, holiday skins, and town clothes to be duplicated for all characters on an account at a small fee (similar to the 10 gold fee in GW1 which was extremely cheap). But character-wide we should be able to duplicate the item we choose at our character’s biography choices, like the elementalist eyes or mesmer masks.

Reworked trading post UI and more additions to the searches, especially to help separate armor by type (light, medium, heavy).

Dungeon patches that plug in the usual safe spots, like the old stairs that people used for the end boss at AC path 3 and the CoF room that people flocked to after killing all of the acolytes in CoF path 1.

A scrying pool/EotN-esque method of replaying the personal story and single-player parts of the living story.

Tormented Weapons

Evon and his men found the Eye of the North and looted the tormented weapons GW1 players dedicated into their Hall of Monuments.

Tada, there’s the lore. Destroyer weapons can be crafted so Evon probably sold them off, a couple of Oppressor’s-style weapons are dropped as rare loot but a majority of them are yet to be seen, and tormented weapons can be bought with tickets. The minipets probably ran away except for mini polar bears that he simply slapped into his mini cage packets. The title and hero statues will be sold as player housing ornaments to ANYONE in the future. Primeval armor sets are sold in his gemstore, while all of the other infused armor sets were salvaged for metals and cloths.

He also took the honor statue that popped up when you got GWAMM, that’s going to be sold in the gemstore some time in the future. The rainbow phoenix too, it’s a gemstore pet. It laid eggs and Evon has them in a hatchery. The monumental tapestries were sold to strangers as carpets.

If not this then Evon probably went to DoA and traded with the Forgotten there using the rare gemstones that dropped from that elite instance, yeah, the same Evon who ran like a chicken from LA. Heroic Evon, slayer of the Margonites.

There’s the lore for tormented weapons, no Elona involved. That’ll be 5 ticket scraps please.

Nobody would be angry if these weapons were put into GW2 as rewards for a dungeon, maybe as relics from the past that originated from the Domain of Anguish?

Or maybe ArenaNet could have waited until they had an Elonian expansion to start with before adding in the Realm of Torment itself, or a portal that goes straight to the Domain of Anguish to play the elite instance for gemstones to buy tormented weapons.

But Nooooooo.

Instead these GW1 endgame weapons are kittening RNG gemstore items. Are you kidding me? Also the fact that these weapons were asked for way back, say 2010, for them to be added into the HoM rewards since 1) They can be dedicated into the GW1 HoM itself and 2) They were the hardest weapons to get before that free give away at the Wayfarer’s Reverie update and they were slapped into the gemstore instead, of all places, is a real slap to the face.

No, instead they sell GW1 prestige THAT COULD BE ADDED INTO GW2 WITHOUT BEING BEHIND AN RNG BOX OR SOLD IN THE GEMSTORE AT ALL.. to profit off the nostalgia of the player base that made GW2 happen in the first place.

This sort of none sense doesn’t just stop with us GW1 players, no no no. Yeah they sold Zodiac weapons, Primeval armor, and now Tormented weapons. But a few months ago they turned on you guys and reskinned human T3, which didn’t last a couple of days before it was pulled out of the store and redesigned.

You faced a similar controversy and your outrage worked. If you’re okay with them slapping content into the gemstore instead of the game itself (reminder: they could have waited to put these weapons in the future DoA or through other means that required skill, dedication, and gameplay to earn instead of in the gemstore) then you’re okay with them slapping GW2 prestige into the gemstore.

It doesn’t even make sense, WHERE did the Black Lion Trading Company get these weapons? Where did they get Zodiac weapons from? Are you telling me Evon and his crew went to the Domain of Anguish and bought them from the Forgotten? Or did they loot my HoM?

I don’t think that having skins is what bothers GW1 players, the skins are pretty and very well designed for GW2. But the fact they took a prestigious weapon in GW1 and put it as a Cash Shop RNG weapon… is just really pathetic.

Really pathetic indeed.

Also to add on to what I said, where did the tormented, destroyer’s, and oppressor’s weapons that I dedicated to my GW1 HoM go?

You can craft destroyer’s, great!

No sight of oppresor’s, okay?

OH wait, where did my tormented weapons go? Apparently the Black Lion Trading Company robbed them and hid them in their chests, great.

They are profiting off prestige.

Let’s say that one day GW3 comes out. Let’s also say that GW2 allowed prestigious weapon sets, like Legendary Weapons to be displayed in GW2’s HoM. GW3 comes out with a HoM rewards calculator just like GW2 did.

Everyone and their mothers ask for the GW2 legendary weapon skins that could be displayed in GW2’s HoM to be rewards for GW3.

ArenaNet doesn’t do that. Instead they take those legendary weapon models and sell them on GW3’s cash shop for 10 bucks each or behind an RNG box.

I don’t like it, they might as well grab ALL of the prestigious items from GW1 and slap a gemstore price on them. It’s similar to selling T3 cultural armor in the gemstore, both items were prestigious game items that were slapped on their store for profit.

Oh well, it doesn’t concern the people who never touched GW1 nor the people who never ran GW1’s DoA for them, GW1 veterans stopped being one of ArenaNet’s priorities a LONG, LOOOONG time ago. It’s okay, until GW2 prestige is affected judging by how quick the Flamekissed armor set was pulled and redesigned. I honestly want to see the outcry when Anet turns on legendary weapons and other, hard-earned weapon sets and profits off them in the gemstore. Until then, oh well right?

Let’s see which items will they sell next.. Oppressor’s weapons? Chaos gloves, obsidian/vabbian armors, and blindfolds? How about the HoM reward items themselves? I’ve seen suggestions of reskinning them and selling them in the gemstore, why not?

I would love guild capes as well, but this game is already plastered with clipping issues and awkward weapon/armor scaling depending on what race your character is.

You should visit the Game Bugs forums and see the stickied thread on clipping issues with armor, weapon, and character art. Towers of screenshots that pile month after month, not fixed. The most you could expect is a fix to head items, which would result in your character going bald. If they indeed added guild capes like in GW1 I wouldn’t be surprised if your weapons disappeared AND your character changed body types to support the cape, all automatic as soon as you equip it.

They say it’s because of the charr race, but really they just don’t care about any of the races’ problems when it comes to clipping. Capes would clip on more than just the charr.

Personal Story Uncanny

So destroying Lion’s Arch did indeed mess up the personal story.

Even after the player base spoke of their concerns on the links between the PS and the siege of Lion’s Arch, seems Anet didn’t care. Not surprised really, I think it speaks volumes on how much they respect that portion of their own game. Oh well if ArenaNet doesn’t care then I shouldn’t either, I certainly hope the next, and last, living story update is worth a broken personal story which I will add is not really “personal,” and a destroyed Lion’s Arch.

My expectations are high seeing as they described what Scarlet is looking for to be better than an expansion. I’ve finished the PS twice and have plenty of level 50-70 characters that I stopped after their racial stories and before that meet up between Destiny’s Edge in Lion’s Arch, going to play them to see how messed up the PS is myself.

But OP those areas have waypoints already. You can teleport close enough to the Vigil HQ, the Durmand Priory, the Order of Whispers, Pact HQ, and Ebonhawke at the cost of 1-4 silver coins.

Why continue to buff the Royal Terrace pass? Especially when it has advantages during the rest of the living story?

Just throwing this out there. ArenaNet refused to place the Molten Firestorm minipet, the Jetpack backskin, the Monocle skins, etc into their appropriate dungeons (now fractals) because they wanted to keep those vanity skins prestigious, only available during their respected dungeons during the living story.

Why would they do a complete 180 on that decision and add all the living story meta completion items back into the game AND remove the account binding so anyone with extra change in their pockets can buy them?

I’d understand gemstore living story items because those only require gems and ArenaNet has reintroduced the Rox/Braham weapon skins, the Living Story dye packs, etc before. But living story achievement items?

I’m sorry, but I hardly doubt that will happen especially after what I stated at the beginning of my post. If TRADABLE living story items didn’t make it into the permanent fractal counterparts of the Molten Facility and Aetherblade Retreat dungeon, why would account bound living story items make the exception?

They shouldn’t be tradable because it would keep people from actually doing future living story content. “Hey why should I complete these 16 achievements for that back skin when I can buy it later on? Oh hey there’s people flooding the market with them, let me snag some of these skins and not do the content itself.”

Nope nope nope.

The Home Instance

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

If 1-4 silver coins and 2 loading screens keeps you from returning to the empty, useless home instances of GW2 then a convenient teleportation stone will probably not be an effective remedy to your crucial dilemma. Selling junk to merchants is the main problem with this suggestion.

Here’s the problem, there are merchants inside the home instances. People pay real money for gems to buy black lion keys in order to open black lion chests, which could reward permanent contracts. One so happens to be a permanent merchant. It costs good gold to buy, plenty of luck in the RNG game, and ArenaNet made them so that only the summoner of the merchant could use them. There are also merchant consumables in the gemstore.

Even if these teleportation stones returned the player back to their original spot like the HoM one, this advantage alone would conflict with those items. One in the gemstore, the other a rare contract in BLC’s. Even if they sold this “Home Instance stone” for gems, those who paid serious gold for their permanent merchants would be screwed.

That’s a no no.

Truth is that even with the overpriced nodes, the living story fluff, and the boring NPC’s that are not interactable.. the home instance will remain useless (except for roleplayers probably) to all even with 1 less loading screen, lol. There’s no room for player housing in the home instances, where will your garden be located.. infront of the orphanage next to the candy corn and the hazardous probe that the orphans play next to? An NPC that sends you to LA when it takes the same amount of loading screens.. just 1-4 silver coins extra.. to get there?

The problem with the home instances is that there’s nothing of value inside of them besides that drinking minigame, living story nodes, the place of power, and.. buying watermelons for 16 copper. Not how long it takes to get there when there’s a freaking WP infront of the gates.

The Eye of the North only has Kimmes the Historian, he doesn’t allow the player to sell him junk just provides the HoM rewards. The Eye of the North is also buried in Icebrood territory with the ice elder dragon Jormag lurking just around the corner. ArenaNet felt it was appropriate to place the rewards there and gave us a teleportation stone, no advantages.

Turn off the ability to sell to the merchants in home instances = less appeal
No actual room for even GW1 HoM-esque player trophy rooms in the home instances = less appeal
Absolutely no reaction to the personal story beyond slapping silent NPC’s in corners = less appeal

You’d be paying gems/coins to avoid 1 loading screen and a coin fee AND wasting an inventory space, even if the stone was free. Using waypoints is also a gold sink, why skip the silver fee?

Quality of Life Features?

Jovel.5706

Would love to see:

  • An extra window added to display the health bars of mesmer illusions, consumable summons, racial summons, personal story NPCs, and most importantly necromancer minions. GW1 had a similar feature for necromancer minions. Should be toggled on and off of course.
  • Wardrobe/Service NPC that holds town clothes acquired from both in-game and gemstore methods. They implemented costume and festival hat maker NPCs in GW1 to address the issue of space in bank slots, we need it in GW2 as well.
  • NPC similar to Kimmes the Historian, or Kimmes himself, that holds HoM items at the Eye of the North in GW2, but instead holds and duplicates Living Story meta reward items and festival meta reward items. Duplicating weapon/armor skins should yield just the skin of course, so duplicating the Sclerite Shell backpiece wouldn’t yield exotic/ascended settler’s stats and such.
  • Build saving/storing, as well as the ability to link builds in chat.
  • More choices in UI, especially the ability to turn off each individual object on the screen. Would like to use the circular map from the beta weekend events, or completely toggle off the map, the chat box, the dynamic event/personal story/living story headers, and the icon scroller on the side that displays what items I picked up. Customizable UI would be great too, GW1 did it nicely.
  • Skill queue bar underneath the targeted individual’s health bar. Think back at how you could see what skills people casted in GW1 underneath their health bars once you had them targeted. It showed the name, a bar that filled up as fast as the cast time, and the icon of the skill. Would help greatly with skills that interrupt on hit.
  • “Last online” and a calendar for guilds.

Here is why Guild Wars 2 needs Mounts

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Jovel.5706

Jovel.5706

I always favored the idea of cosmetic mounts in GW2 that didn’t add any buffs, cannot be used in combat, cannot fly and only hover off the ground like the broom in the gemstore, etc.

Seriously, think about the possibilities.. dolyaks, horses, oakhearts, siege turtles!

But then.. I figured out the issues with cosmetic mounts already.

  • Gemstore only. The fact that even to this day we cannot earn town clothes outside of the gemstore is more than enough evidence that if these “cosmetic mounts” were to be added, they would only be there for gems. We can earn a weird hat in some Ascalonian map somewhere, but that’s it.
  • Clipping issues. This game is GROTESQUE CLIPPING CITY when compared to some other, dated, MMORPG’s. Even gemstore armor skins clip with bodies, not just weapons, but with BODIES people! Imagine your buttocks sticking out of your leggings, some of it sinking into the dolyak’s back, as you ride on your dolyak in Lion’s Arch. Think about charr tails, sylvari glowing luminescence malfunctioning, and norn bodies melting into mounts..

I rather not have mounts in this game, no thank you no thank you.

Or they could make cultural armors available across the board.

Human characters, in GW1, could wear armors designed by the other races.

Such as Asuran armor and Norn armor.

But these armors required your character to have rank 5 in a reputation title track of their territory. So to buy norn armor, you had to be a “Slayer of Wurms” with 26,000 reputation points, earned by killing things, vanquishing entire zones, fighting norns at resurrection shrines, fighting in the tournament in Gunnar’s Hold, etc.

People complained that these titles were a grind, so they were never passed on to GW2. Now, ArenaNet has repetitively reinforced the boundaries between the races and what cultural armor they can wear. They even rolled back servers when people used cultural armor on the races they weren’t supposed to be worn on.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on them making cultural armors available to all races. They reskinned the human light T3 and plastered flames and made it available to all races for money, not for free. Designing let’s say.. asura heavy T3 to work on a charr/norn.. will probably take more persuasion than wanting it as a free update.

If you liked the original Flamekissed skin, then I have the solution.

Create a human character, level that character to 60-80, save up 119g, acquire exotic/ascended armor pieces, spend real money/spend gold on the 6 transmutation crystals, transmute everything together complete with whatever runes you had on the set.
