If it was i sub-based game i would have voted with my walled and stayed:>
But Guild Wars 2 is a milestone in mmo gendre in equal part for it’s revolutionary approach to gameplay and revolutionary approach to payment. In time and age where games are shorter and shorter costing more and more, GW2 is the unmovable mountain that just stand in the way of this “progress” and does us all players a favor.
Because of that i would not agree to it being P2P. It’s comparable to what Final Fantasy 7 did for console asian rpgs – it opened the floodgates to the whole gendre to the west., as GW2 is now opening floodgates to true progression of the gendre both gameplay and payment model wise.
But there are still gems to get to thank arena.net for the awesome job:)
Because GW2 was obviously the first Buy to play game and the first game to have action combat!……oh wait
I don’t even play this game anymore but come to the forums every month or two but are some of your reading what your typing. Or are you people just stupid do you really think they culling is such a simple issue that they can fix it instantly if enough people complain. There isn’t a culling on and off switch, they are trying to figure out how to fix it and wont for another 1-6 months i suggest u take a break.
Culling was one reason I stopped playing as having 50 reds spawn ontop of my player killing everyone around me within 2 seconds was terrible and was the worst pvp probelm i have every experienced in a mmo (so bad that it actually made me quit).
No, it doesn’t have enough staying power or content to be P2P.
It plays like a single player game that people can “beat” so ppl put it down and come back later, having no subscription mean ppl can come back to this single player whenever they want, if they want.
With a subscription people would beat it and never play it again.
This game is the best ever in nearly every category except balance. The up side to that is eventually things will become more balanced over time. They’ve already done enough with everything else.
No, no it is not. The game has major flaws in various areas, such as inconsistencies between classes, “It’s Build Wars” gameplay, Bugs, Worst PVP matchmaking/ranking/reward system I have ever encountered, 1 Game mode, Repetitive and causes people to lose interest very quickly, boring to watch, medicore combat system when comparing it to other mmos, i could go on and on.
But these problems won’t be solved for a long long long time as Anet are concentrating on PVE content and that’s where they want their game to major in PVE.
Don’t pin any hopes on this “February Patch” look how underwhelming the January patch was for PVE.
Seriously if you want your point heard, either break this up into bullet points or back this up into paragraphs.
It’s just a giant wall of text that people will just walk away from atm.

What is with your people!? Brutalistik.6473 seriosuly you need to OPEN YOUR EYES Gw2 isn’t a new game anymore it’s been out for 6 MONTHS stop using that as an excuss because the game isn’t kittening new anymore it’s been in full release for 6 bloody months.
To te guy who’s debating that giving players the ablitly to activley dodge something means that the game is more skillful must have not played any other MMO except WOW and GW2 because there are several MMOS which give you that ablilty.
Please tell me this is a troll thread?!
Someone who is new to MMOs and PC games in general who has played a grnad total of ONE MMO comes in and states that, that ONE MMO he has plain is better then Wow a game which he has NEVER played and only watched on twitch………..
That’s like me watching a runescape video and calling it the best mmo ever based of ONE freaking video. OP seriously just don’t post on forums if you know nothing about mmos and you are actually new really.
“graphic work” lordy lordy, atleast learn the different types of graphical artists not everyone is a 3D modeler your post is slightly insulting.
It’s because GW2 plays like a single player game. You can go though level 1 to 80 with having to communicate with anyone. The gameplay enforces the everyone for themselves with there being no dedicated healers and everyone is in charge with keeping themselves alive.
One reason I quit, i wanted to play an mmo yet it feels like an single player game.
Read this with a British accent AND a top hat
IS no british accent…… a welsh accent is vastly different from a scouse accent!
It makes ragers look hilarious and stupid.
Oh my god what the kitten i cant kittening stop kittening saying the word kitten because i need the word kitten to make a point!
One of the reasons i dont swear much annoying people who need swear words to make a point.
Would say Aion’s Nyerk filter was better. If you get the Nyerk refernce?
Some times happen that we are 4 guild mates and we are LF1M.
We find some one… but he is completly noob… so, why risk to waste time and money (repair) just for one idiot??We try to be understanding… we try to explane tattics and game play…
but some time is impossibile.
So… kick an bye bye.I remember a guy in HotW without any kind of “water weapon”!!
When we asked why, he answered “I am pvp”…
So… why should we keep him?
We don’t need an unarmed player if the last boss is under water…
Just kick… and let’s take some one else.
He deserve it. :PSo… if you are a good player, nobody will kick you.
That made me laugh hahaha.
SPvp in this game is dead.
you get 10 from monthlies and 28-31 from dalies a month. So 38-41 a month. you can buy a ring and an infusion that is 20L every 2 months or a ring and a 5L infusion a month.
Good finally a world boss that needs people to communicate to be completed not everyone zerging and attacking the boss smashsing their keyboards.
The balacing team in this game is terrible. They seem to not know fixes around nerf this to the ground, make this weaker, make this die faster so it isn’t in play longer.
AHHHHHH whats with all the fuss about Laurels, nothing in the new rewards is needed.
Its just another activity you can choose to do.
YEA TOTALLY HAHAHA
20% + Gold, 20% + Magic Find 15% + Karma, Infusions, totally aren’t needed but are so kitten good that it would be stupid to pass up on them.
“From my point of view, it would seem like the bulk of these changes were put in to halt/limit progression.”
Duh! The game lacked longevity and Anet saw that. So they added something to give it longevity!
Could someone link me to the direct quote or post stating there would be ways to gain Laurels through achievement points?
For you Americans. The 29th Daily is…..
Kill Variety
Daily dodges (the dodge skill)
Daily Revives
Daily Events
Daily Gathering
I see with have mixed views here on what vertical progression is.
I thought at it’s most basic point vertical progression was when one needs to grind either it be money, tokens, dungeons, etc…. to get a specific armor/weapon set that would provide better stats making them more efficient.
1.Laurels are account bound and you see the icon in your Inventory next to karma
2. At the moment (Note that ANET already announced that you will get Laurels for other achievements as well in the future) you get 40/41 laurels a month which means you could afford both rings as one costs 20 or a necklace and have 10 left over
3. the bought stat laurels are useless. they have 1 less stat then the offensive/defensive that can be crafted in the Mystic Forge and they even come with agony resist if you are a FotM runner, yaaayIf you want to go for different sets that’s your thing, you’ll need many laurels to do so, but using boosters/karma banners/guild karma boost will do more then 15% karma on an extra amulet you spent a whole month on getting (note that you can get 40 jugs of karma for each 7.500+ karma making it alone 300k+ a month, wait what? o.O) will not really do you anything good as you got way more karma in the process then the 15% will give you the next 7 month. (bang for the buck anyone?)
The only reason to get me a second necklace per character would be the magic find one. 30% magic find on just the necklace is good enough reason for that.
@Interpol: Dailies and monthlies are accountwide, so you only can do them once per day, as in 1 laurel a day, 10 a month
For the future items, whatever they may cost bring it up. 4k+ Achievment points and waiting to get laurels for the stuff i’ve done yet
Greetz (‘-’)/
P.S.: A 6% increase in stats is not a threadmill, especially as you can do everything in this game with exotic gear. Its a reward for dedicated and long time players. If you dont want to grind, dont do it, its not a necessity.
None of the rings costs 20 for starters. The lowest is 30L
Sorry about the title. I don’t actually think it’s much of a treadmill, I just used it to get people in the topic :/
Oh wait i’m wrong I missed something out.
Ascended items cost 30L + some are 35L
Let’s all gather round and discuss what ascended items and infusions are to us and how Laurels and Infusions have now actually caused a big treadmill!
I was just looking at the Laurel vendor and came to this. I may be wrong on some parts so correct me if so.
1 Laurel a Day. 31/28 a month through just dailies
10-20 a month *not sure how many monthlies give.
Ascended gear costs 30 L (Laurel) a piece. Meaning 16/16 would cost 480 L (that’s hoping that ALL the pieces cost 30L and chest pieces don’t go for 50L)
Infusion which i had no time for until i saw the AMAZING 15% Karma 10L, 20% EXP 10L, 20% Magic Find 20L and 20% more Gold 20L meaning me a person who absoultly hates fractals will spend his game time doing Dailies and Monthlies then log off.
Now, Infusions are 5 – 20 L meaning a full 16/16 would cost between 80 – 320 L.
So a character with full ascended and infusions from Laurels alone would cost 560 -800 Laurels. You get 41-51 L a month from doing the dailies and Monthlies so it would take you 10-16 months to get a full set with full infusions.
So what do you think about this? Will it keep people busy for the next 10 to 16 months?
Also under world polish: “Weapons now continue to grant bonus stats while bundles are equipped.
Bundles from player skills (engineer kits, elementalist conjured weapons, warrior banners) now have base damage that is consistent with the highest rarity weapons available at the level of the player.”
Oh wow really!!!!!!!
Well you guys tell me, i kinda think it’s a slight nerf with some bug fixes.
Engineer
Removed collision from engineer turrets that were causing player pathing issues.
Elixir X: Fixed a bug where this skill’s tooltip did not reflect the cooldown reduction from Fast-Acting Elixirs.
Hair Trigger: Fixed a bug which prevented this trait from working correctly for some skills.
Healing Turret: Fixed issues with this skill’s description when the Deployable Turrets trait was equipped.
Incendiary Ammo: The number of uses on this skill’s effect will now decrease if an attack lands or if the attack is negated by Blind, Block, Evade, Obstructed, or Invulnerable.Reinforced Shield: Fixed a bug which prevented this trait from reducing Static Shield’s cooldown if the Throw Shield skill was activated.
Reserve Mines: This trait’s area-of-effect rings now display the appropriate area that they can be triggered at.
Speedy Gadgets: Fixed a bug that prevented this trait from reducing the cooldown of Throw Mine.
Toss Elixir S: This skill will no longer remove transforms from players.

Dan you sound familiar, 2 question, your from Bham right and do u havea brother called Anthony?
Fractals is the most boringest thing i have ever done i literally fell asleep. So no ascended gear for me.
Hate leather armor in GW2, i absolutely hate all the trenchcoats they just look bad.
I loved leather armor in Aion, really wish leather armor was more like what it was in aion.
Coming from a game where this happens: http://youtu.be/hczMNyLr0ek and stun breaks are uncommon, I think GW2 handles CCs fine.
I don’t get this mentality that you need access to all your skills at all times.
Great job comparing a side scrolling action game. Hey i might aswell compare Tekken to this game if your going to use that as an example.
I agree with OP, but really there’s no point in even stating where the problem is at anymore SO MANY PEOPLE have gone over what the problems are but A-net just don’t seem to care at ALL and with that most of there players have lost interest and so have I. You stop giving a kitten about one part of your game that players want to enjoy and those players will just stop caring and stop playing.
wait elder scroll online
, and another thing, for sure is dead pvp here, with all kittening cheaters and ackers that do absurd thing in pvp, the normal ppl get tired to play
Yep I am and i can’t wait! All my friends that quit this game and it’s terribad pvp are moving to TESO
Nov 22 2011, 1:07 pm
The article is irrelevant.
TESO.. Are people still thinking that that game won’t be littered with game breaking bugs for years? Just like every single other game that Studio has released.
I mean, they’re great games and everything, Morrowind still remains my second favorite game I’ve ever played, but seriously, those games were filled with bugs and this will be their first time designing an MMO.
As for this games future, I think 6 months is still way too early to come to any conclusions about it.
FYI TESO is being made by Zenimax not Bethesda so before you even begin to say anything negative about TESO do some research your clearly just spouting nonsense.
Yea the game is weird. It isn’t really dying just players aren’t playing and i guess well it doesn’t retain players for a long periods of time.
Everyone I know has quit this game and said they’ll reinstall or come back to it in about 6-1 years time to check if anything new is added. Because GW2 is B2P people can just jop in and out when they like leaving the game feeling dead when there is nothing to keep people playing.
The game will be like this people leaving for months (im on a 3 month haitus) then coming back for events or content updates then leaving again. No one can deny the game has a lost a significant amount of it’s players over the last couple of months, if these players come back no one knows.
Well I doubt a Guild leader would up and leave his whole guild like that let’s be reasonable here. 9 times out of 10 that decision would be unanimous between the guild leader and his/her members.
As you know guild tend to force guild members communicate as it’s a guild, like a social community of players.
That’s a very naive thing to say. I’ve seen guild leaders clear banks, kick lower level or people who are unable to play for real life things, and all manner of unpleasantries. Unfortunately, people do shady things when they’re masked behind a computer screen. I wouldn’t doubt that this would happen all the time considering just how little people seem to care about each other in this game.
Ah your probably right. While everyone of the guild i’ve met in this game has had a nice leader, they all end up dying. And I really do agree with your last statment.
How annoying would it be if the player who created the guild switched servers and took the guild’s upgrades (incl. the bank) and influence with them?

It’s not that bad. I took my time with my main but breezed to level 80 on mesmer and thief alts. I didn’t keep track of anything but it went fast.
My guardian hit 80 in 54 hours while mastering 3 crafts.
*I’m working on a 2nd thief so I can have two builds without dealing with gear and trait swapping. * I hit level 45 a bit ago and checked /age before logging out. 21 hours with no crafting or event chains – I just did events as I found them while doing map completions.
I’ll probably just got to 50 then master 3 crafts, maybe just 2. Either way I bet I’ll be 80 in around 30-35 hours total.
Or maybe I’ll save gold and not do any crafting. Then I’d guess closer to 50 hours total to get to 80.
Either way that’s pretty fast.

Spvp is terrible really, every friend who enjoys pvp i know has left this game due to how terrible it is and it put a bad taste in their mouths and mine. They would need a complete overhaul of SPvP to actually get people wanting to play this again.
And as this id now Casual Wars 2 i doubt that will ever happen
Wow, she’s as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside.
That’s just mean and out and out rude.
If she has done something detrimental to the development of the game i love, then i would like to see exactly what it was she did with some sort of link or proof other than conjecture and inappropriate comments about someones physical appearance.
Don’t be so pedantic I’m sure the woman is old enough and mature enough herself to dismiss comments about her appearance or work she doesn’t need some white knight on the internet trying to fight her case.
A lot of you seem to be thinking of classes you consider the weakest. I am asking for classes that require skill. I agree, Engis take quite some skills to be viable. I see Mesmers take skill from their need to use skills in perfect sequence and timing.
Kittens? Overnerfs? Who cares, any skilled player can always find a way around that and do just fine with them.
AHAHA did i just read this. Have u seen Engi’s in high ranked pvp, nope? me neither.
Why are A-net restricting our options instead of broadening them?
This recent AOE nerf idea has got me worried.
We are already restricted to the point where we can’t determine or chose our own weapon skills for weapons meaning some weapons go completely unused or are just bad because of one or two skills on that weapon being poor compared to the others. An example of this would be a warrior, every warrior under the sun uses a greatsword or axe as a primary or a secondary weapon… why? Because it’s vastly superior.
Necro staffs and Ele staffs which have predominantly AOE ablilites where will they stand? Will the nerfs just further restrict players options meaning every player will be using the same weapon set because the other are just too poor? I thought they wanted to look at D/D ele’s (yes i know D/D ele’s use a lot of aoe) but instead of attacking AOE across the board why not just add more single target skills or here’s a thought give the player the ablility to choose his 1 or 2 weapon skill maybe then people will want to pick the spamable single target kiting skill over the superior aoe skill.
Why is it they constantly nerf weapon skills to the point where no one uses them?
Me and everyone I know has treated this game like a Single Player game, where you play enjoy for he hours you get out of it and then put it down. Which really isn’t what an MMO is traditionally and that’s where people are feeling indifferent.
As I now know 0 people that have interest or play this game and I “completed” the game 2 months ago I took a break in decemeber and have probably logged in for all of 4 days over Jan. It took me 2 months to reach max and i’ve had 2 months of not playing so i’ve had time to gather my thoughts.
One I really love the game, one of the better mmos on the market but not the best but better than most. It lacks in longevity to a point where it’s actually worrying this may be from my own experince but every single person I know who bought this game on launch or any time after has stopped playing completely and either said they have completed the game and won’t go back or they’ll wait a year and see if they improve what needs improving.
Me im looking for a MMO to call home like many people do, you know the game you play as your main mmo, saidly GW2 will never be a main mmo to a high majority of people while people LOVE the game there is nothing making them want to play causing them to just stop logging in and find other games which hold this desire to log in. I’m personally hoping TESO will be my main mmo because it sounds amazing so far.

I think that Anet is trying to hard to not be like Blizzard, which sucks because WoW copies a ton of great ideas. So basically Anet shuns great ideas for the sake of their own pride vs what makes games so dang fun.
I’m GLAD they’re not trying to copy WoW. Have you not seen what happens to games that try to copy WoW?. The game could be better than WoW in every aspect, but, as soon as someone decides to label it a “WoW Clone”, everyone automatically turns they’re back on it.
So what you are saying is that if they use any IDEAS from WoW it is a WoW clone, but since WoW used so many great IDEAS from other games then WoW is still WoW?
I hate to break it to you, but the things in Gw2 are not 100% original ideas by anet developers.
No, but, there IS a very large group of vocal people that DO see it that way. And, once they catch wind of it, they make it they’re goal to rally everyone on their side.
OMG….you mean GW isn’t original?!!!??? let’s out a dramatic scream, while spinning around, and then ultimately collapsing onto the floor
So true :/ So many people on this website going on about dynamic events and how amazing and innovative they are yet games like rift first introduced dynamic events.
Try using combo fields, they are a blast. I find most MMO combat stale, this one not at all. Very rare that I get two classes to level cap in an MMO due to combat boredom, I have 4 and working on number 5 now. To each his own tho.
This is why most MMO players call this the MMO for people who don’t like MMOs. EVeryone i know including me has treated this like a single player game. Get to 80, get your exotics, get world completion and put the game down due to boredom.
It’s more you they are aiming this game at, the people who don’t like what makes an mmo an mmo.
I don’t think sPvP has a learning curve… Many high profile live streamers flocked to GW2 on release and left just as quickly because it is immediately recognizable as an imbalanced PvP game. The people who stayed all populate the most OP and imbalanced class/traits possible and pretty much live on a loop playing against the same teams day in and day out because there is no sPvP community.
The first step is to not live in denial and make excuses that the game didn’t have enough popularity or people didn’t know how to play. The people played it and didn’t like it and moved on. Address that. Fix the game. Maybe people will come back.
And we have a winner!
